Incorporated into the Trasmediterranea fleet in 2011 to boost the traffic between mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, the Tenacia ferry is one of the most modern ferries operating in the Mediterranean. The Vessel allows up to 869 passengers a time to enjoy a pleasant and comfortable crossing, with more than enough facilities to keep all entertained throughout. It can also carry 195 vehicles on each crossing and reaches speeds of 24 knots. This 200 metre long ship has plenty of facilities to help while away the hours, from sun loungers out on deck, to relaxing bar and restaurant areas. A range of comfortable cabins are on offer and there is even a kennel section on board if you’re travelling with pets.
Tenacia has a variety of cabins on offer, with accommodation to suit whoever maybe travelling. It ranges from four berth cabins for passengers travelling in larger groups to single cabins for those making the trip alone. For those who prefer not to book a cabin there are plenty of reclining seats available around the ship.
There are a number of options for your culinary needs on the Tenacia. The bar restaurant offers everything from light cold snacks to hot main meals. For even more choice on main meals there is another Dining Room and the Strike Bar allows you to relax with a drink in comfortable surroundings.
Duty free shopping is available for all passengers so you can take advantage of lower than high street prices. With jewellery and perfumes on offer, it’s the perfect place to treat yourself or buy holiday gifts. A large choice of magazines, books, puzzles and confectionery are on offer too.
You can chill with stunning Mediterranean views and bask in the sunshine on the sun decking area or while away the hours having a drink in the outdoor seating. If you are travelling with pets, there is also an outdoor kennel where they can stay and be looked after, whilst you enjoy the fantastic services on board.
Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Tenacia guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

"Would not let me cancel inspight of covid19"
Disgracefully, just ignored my attempts to cancel and wouldn't refund any thing. They took 450 euros when they knew it was impossible for us to travel
"Would not accept my cancellation"
Still to hear from this company after cancelling this crossing over a month ago.
"Direct Ferries "
DO NOT BOOK WITH DIRECT FERRIES Trans med is great but this agent is the worst out there .
"Does what it should but needs clearer info "
Took the overnight ferry and stayed in a cabin so we could all sleep. Accommodation was fine perfectly functional and did the job it needed to do. Ship left on time. Didnt eat any food so cant comment on that. The biggest and only issue really by far was it's so difficult to find!! Theres hardly any signage and so it's very difficult to work out where to go. This was much worse from Palma to Barcelona on the return journey as the terminal was in a different place to the other ferry companies but, again, no signage and no information. No maps with the booking either. We went to the checkin desk but noone there and even when they were they didnt know where the ferry was. We had to ask not short of 20 people and eventually found a friendly truck driver who knew. Once we got there again no instructions or signage so had to ask around -luckily our spanish was good enough to be able to have these conversations. Need much more information provided either at the terminals or better still with the booking itself.
"Transmediterranea get your shoreside act together."
Once on board the ferry crossings between Barcelona and Palma Mallorca were excellent. However the whole experience for foot passengers of getting on and off the ferry was a completely disorganised shambles. There was a total lack of staff to tell passengers why they had to board a coach to the ferry. A distance of about a hundred metres? Which required loading then unloading luggage. At the Palma end of the voyage another coach, unmarked again, deposited us on a dual carriageway in God knows where on the sea front where there were no taxis. From there we were left to find our hotel. My wife and I are both in our late seventies and are very experienced travellers but I have never experienced such slipshod and potentially dangerous lack of customer care in half a century of international travel. I will never travel with Transmediterrania again.
"Good Trip"
Enjoyable trip easy to use. Not a cruise but good facilities for a ferry.
"Travelling from Palma to Barcelona with Trasmediterrania on the 'Tenacia'"
The ship itself was all right though rather ancient and not very well refurbished, very rusty pipework to the sprinklers for example The worst part of the journey was finding her! There were absolutely no signs in Palma for Trasmediterranea ferries. One possible entrance to her dock was bloked off for roadworks and no diversion signs provided. It was a nightmare. We had a day cabin where the sheets were not clean. The best part of the journey was lunch which was delicious
"Review"
Substantially better then 3 years ago A lot more more personal orientated not just lorry drivers 👍
"Travel with a dog"
A bit different attitude to dogs compared to what I am used to. All dogs need to be on top deck locked in small cages during the trip. Staff make it feel like you bring a beast aboard...
"NOT GOOD"
Badly organised, totally confusing different instructions from different staff. One told us only my husband could drive the car on and I would have to take my dogs on as foot passengers then another came along and took all our boarding passes (of which they give you two exact copies but only one is valid)! The terminal for foot passengers has no signs to tell you where to go. Once on board everyone - including those with dogs - has to queue at info desk to get their cabin or kennel key. The reserved seat is a joke. It’s a complete free for all with people laying across seats on the overnight crossing so there aren’t enough seats for everyone. No one checks anything so you could go in there with paying anyway! The ship wasn’t clean but the toilets were actually ok. If you are travelling with a dog the kennels are three high and some were outside (overnight crossings in April are cold). They have no water bowls in them either so remember to bring one.
"Palma to Barcelona Ferry"
Nice sailing on November cold and windy day. Nice oversized terminal, well directed to deck with plenty of room for passengers. Surprised by lunch at 1 PM included. According to truck drivers on board, trip was about 1.5 hrs shorter but we waited before the pier. Strong advise to have taxi phone # , it is remote part of port and no transportation from terminal. Taxis are passing by on near express way and can't make to terminal due to blocked access by trucks in line for enbarcment.
"Palma - Barcelona"
Loading and boarding went really well in both directions. The seating was comfortable enough but the food was crap. We travel with a dog and the facilities for this are just great. A purpose made kennel block on the helicopter deck which you have access to at all times. The helicopter deck makes a good exercise area and if the sun is shining then its a good place to spend the journey. Really pleased with our experience but will take a picnic next time.
"bad experience"
Upon arrival at the check in office in Barcelona, two people tried to steal my wife's handbag out of the car at the front door of your check in, no security to be seen and this problem is known by the operator. We were separated, my wife had to go through different entry and boarding on her own, I had to drive the car onboard, this was explained to us as a new security policy?? When I entered the ferry 80% of the cars had 2 or more people in their car, what happened to this new policy? I like you to explain why we were discriminated against?
"Palma to Barcelona"
We enjoyed the trip. Comfortable and punctual. Excellent facilities for pets. Would prefer it if restaurant was open for longer.
"CAPTIVE AUDIENCE"
As this is the only means of getting a vehicle and 2 passengers from Barcelona to Mallorca and back, then you're going to have to accept the many shortcomings of this 'service'. I'm not really commenting on a vessel in particular because I can only assume that the same will apply to any of them however; I also believe that a complaint without a suggested solution, is just a whinge, so here's my solution. In a nutshell, I would suggest that the Transmediterranea team (management and staff) treat themselves to a sailing on one of Brittany Ferries crossings, say Bilbao - Portsmouth, perhaps then they'll get some idea on how to run a ferry service. Areas for improvement include the following: Enabling passengers to download and print both the departure and return tickets, thus relieving the passengers the hassle of having to search for the Transmedditerania booking office (as there is no clear signage in Palma) to obtain the return boarding passes. Having a website that tells you exactly where to find their terminals, particularly the one in Palma. If it wasn't for the fact that we took the initiative to look for it ourselves, long before the allotted 90 minutes before departure, then we would have been well on the back foot. This is because of the fact that once you have found the office, you are then informed that the actual ferry terminal is in a different place, a couple of miles away and even when they give you a diagram as to its location, the area is utterly devoid of any signs indicating where your ferry might be! The personnel at the Barcelona port, for some inexplicable reason are insistent that the passengers within the vehicle cannot remain in the vehicle to board and must instead, make their way on foot to board. My wife followed this nonsensical direction, whereas it soon became obvious to me that a good many people (clearly localised) ignored this direction and remained in their vehicles to then board unimpeded. The hapless vehicle passengers who did follow this direction are then subjected to a mindlessly lax security check, where they're bags are x rayed before boarding. Surely, if they were going to bring anything contentious aboard the vessel, they would have left it in the vehicle which is allowed to board without scrutiny? Strangely, these rules did not apply for the return journey. Boarding the ferry in Palma can only be described as being a disorganised free-for-all, with very few ferry personnel available to direct boarding traffic and those that are available just adding to the chaos; indiscriminately blowing whistles and waving their arms in random directions. And with this being a night crossing, the visibility at times for maneuvering a vehicle in the glare of numerous headlights, is extremely poor which just adds to the confusion and accentuates the lack of directing personnel. On both the crossings, the vehicles are left on open decks and exposed to the elements, arriving at the destination caked in salt crust. Not a happy start to the day for a classic vehicle owner! Because of the very late departure times of both sailings (2300 - 2355) there is little opportunity to take advantage of the ship's facilities, which is probably a good thing because they have only 1 member of staff manning the servery at the coffee bar, for a ship containing a few hundred passengers. It would seem that the vessel's owners regard queuing as being some form of recreation! All in all then; I have little to recommend this 'service', all of which was incurred at the princely sum of 825 euros, some 100 Euros more for a 125 mile/ 7 hour crossing, than it costs for a return from Portsmouth - Bilbao! And, the miserly company then wants to charge you for wifi!
"Communication "
There are not many English signs or ways to communicate to staff. It’s hard to understand where to go at the port and when to board as the announcements that are English are so quiet and mumbled you can’t understand it. The food is hard to order as there are no English translations. Other then that my stay was rather nice and easy.
"Enjoyable trip"
Very good
"If you want to go to Majorca - Do your homework"
Poor signage to find the correct queue to join (both Barcelona and Palma) Trees and vehicles obscure gates. The online app on iOS is unreliable and when you get signed in it does not present your bookings correctly. Server timeouts I suspect. Visiting Palma to collect tickets (because there is no online facility upon return) took forever - 30 minutes in queue with only one office window open and other staff in the back office. I was told by a regular Swedish traveller that this is quite normal. Catering facilities at the port of Palma stink of grease and is used by all. Poor quality on-board food and service. Unappetising at best. Loading and unloading was a 'free for all event' that could have been managed more effectively by better trained staff. As a 'holiday experience' it will never therefore be repeated. By comparison a number of recent trips with French owned Brittany Ferries was a model of efficiency, politeness and willingness to assist. Is TransMed a business in decline? The only thing that is positive is that their overnight cabins were pleasant and well set up. Daytime travel meant you had little chance of truly resting prior to a long drive, particularly as it took 40 minutes to leave the port and start moving properly. Catalonian Gridlock too BAH!
"Barcelona to Palma Return With Car"
As expected really we had a cabin on the way out 11pm sailing. Comfy chairs on the way back. We booked early in 2018 £600.00 +. Only to be offered the same crossing via e-mail for around £300.00 a few weeks before we left. We couldn't cancel and re-book. Which left a bitter taste in the mouth and wallet. So if your willing to wait till the last minute, that is what we will do next time. The boat was comfy enough and service/food good. Only word of warning is if you are put on the lower deck its around an eight storey climb to the lounge/cabin decks. no lifts.
"An excellent service"
We arrived with minutes to spare before our crossing to Palma and found the staff to be helpful and efficient. Our cabin was just what we wanted after a very long drive - comfortable and clean.
"Barcelona to Palma return "
Very comfortable cabin for overnight passage. Clean public areas. Prompt departure and arrival on schedule. Easy boarding process for car. I Highly recommend this service
"Tenacia a good ferry!"
I enjoyed my travels to Mallorca on the Tenacia. It was in good shape. The ferry returning to Barcelona, which was NOT Tenacia, was in fair shape, & not as well kept. The bathroom on the Tenacia needed more attention, since there were more people traveling to Palma. The food in the cafetetia on both ferries was delicious with many choices. Breakfast should offer hot choices. It's hard to sleep in the seats, & clean blankets should be given to those who want one. Thank you.
"Great crossing"
Everything went very smoothly. Boarding was very quick and efficient, cabin was good and we had a very good nights sleep. Before we knew it we were arriving into Palma, refreshed and bang on time. The few staff that we had contact with were also very nice.
"Rough crossing. Great nigh'ts sleep"
Our Barça to Palma journey was trouble free. Online booking took the hassle of registering in Barça and make boarding simple. Although the sea was tough.we hada good night's sleep. Disembarking in Palma was trouble free.
"Barcelona to Palma"
Easy online check in and only a 2 min walk to Las Ramblas. Very rough crossing but that's not Transmed's fault, friendly staff and good facilities.
"Confusing arrangements in Palma de Mallorca port"
I travelled without a vehicle from Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca, and the arrangements to check in / board / get in to the ship in Palma de Mallora were very confusing. First, no information on ticket where the ship would leave. Palma has two passenger terminals , 1 and 2. The number one is on Portopi side, and that has all the terminals aso. Trasmeditterranean uses the Cathedral side port (2), which has no services. Also, boarding the ship, one has to wait for a bus to get into ship, even when the ship is within reach. Also, to get to the port area, one has to wait until the port "opens". And this all because Trasmediterranean terminal on the Cathedral side of port is terrible, more like a shed. Same applies to arrival, arrival is to the Cathedral side of port. Then, a bus drives passengers to the other side Portopi port where the terminal is. On Barcelona side, everything is ok. Ship was ok, but not very comfortable. Ship travelled in schedule. Conclusion: Trasmediterranean is more suitable for passengers with vehicles. I try next time the Balearian.
"Palma-Barcelona "
Trasmed knock spots of other providers especially with the transport of dogs. Clean external kennels, seating area for owners and a huge helipad for dogs to exercise on for the duration of the crossing. No more Balear!
"Poor arrangement in Palm"
Difficult to find the boarding place in Palm. It is not where you get the board pass but in another pier just opposite to the cathedral. The arrangement is strange.
"Ferry to Palma "
Travelling with Trasmediterranea on the ferry to Palma was fine. The lounge was quiet all night, staff were helpful, journey went smoothly. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the discrepancy in the instructions for check in, but that was possibly the fault of the agent used for booking. I was told 120 minutes, even as a foot passenger, which was way over what was required. That meant a lot of hanging about.
"Overnight trip"
This route was re scheduled by the ferry company (due to operational reasons) from a 1200 hours sailing to one leaving at 2330. We were abroad at time of notification and had to contact Direct Ferries 3 times to find out if we needed to book an overnight cabin as the journey is 7.5 hours and with small children we didn't fancy the journey. The website wouldn't allow us to amend or add a cabin, Direct Ferries customer support were not impressive until I really pushed them on the last day. Eventually they got back to us and said that we had automatically been allocated a cabin. Something is wrong in the system between the ferry company, Direct Ferries and the customer and we the customer suffered a few days of angst which could have been avoided had the original message had more information or Direct Ferries more info to support the customer. Palma is a very large port and when driving in the dark with lots of traffic it can be quite stressful. Signage is not great and when we eventually checked in we were told that our departure quay was the other side of the port, we think due to the amount of cruise ships in. So off we went again with a set off dodgy port instructions and after a couple of wrong turns we found the right place. Once waved through we breathed a sigh of relief and opened a bottle of San Miguel whilst in the boarding queue! The ship was great and overnight cabin very comfortable.
"Barcelona-Palma"
The cabin was good, but everything else was poor. The staff have no understanding of the concept of customer service. The administration was chaotic. We found out as we were boarding in Barcelona that only the driver could stay in the car and my wife was ejected (and almost missed the boat as a result). On the return leg, we turned up at the same point we had disembarked only to be told that the return journey went from another terminal 4 km away. None of these important facts had been communicated to us. Also, there are no signs anywhere for Trasmediterranea, making it unnecessarily difficult to find them.
"Never Again"
At the port tickets were easy enough to collect. We got to the embarkation area 2 hours before sailing time of 11pm. We boarded at 10.45 we'll I did, my wife as a passenger in the car was told she had to walk on as a foot passenger. This was some 15 minutes before I was allowed on. She got lost among lorries where the passengers were told to go. Eventually I found her near the desk where we were issued with our cabin key. We went directly to the cabin to drop our gear & was hoping to get into bed. The toilet was blocked & almost overflowing but I got a guy to clear it fairly quickly. The temperature in the cabin was so high we couldn't stay in it for a couple of hours until the air con had clicked in. The bed was uncomfortable so very little sleep was had at all. We eventually left Barcelona at 12.15 am some 75 minutes late. On arrival at Palma my wife was made to get off again as a foot passenger. The chaos getting cars out was unbelievable. Lorries had been parked so close on the deck above that I must have made 20 point turn to get out. My wife was left early morning in a car park for 30 minutes while we were getting cars off, not very nice at 7am in a port park.
"holiday trip"
As usual, my trip went without any problems. I cannot comment on the catering as I did use it. However, the number of people using it and the look of the food, suggests that it was very good. I give it the 4 stars because of what I saw and the reactions of the people using same.
"A good start and end to the holiday"
A smart, well appointed ship. Excellent, clean cabin accommodation. Shame that the crew - or maybe travelling truck drivers - decided to have a noisy get-together somewhere very close to our cabin which went on till the early hours. Both trips on time and quickly offloaded.
"Prompt, comfortable and easy"
a pleasant journey from Barcelona to Palma. Adaquete cabin with an en suite and a nice porthole view when we arrived. Try to do something about the dog quarantine area though, doesn't seem fair having them in a box on deck.
"The worst ferry in Europe?"
Trasmediterranea does not allow checking in to an outside cabin except at the terminal so we did this and ended up with an inside cabin. The driver enters the ship, totally unchecked, in the car - the passenger must board on foot and is rigorously checked - where is the logic? My car was directed to deck "A" (the lowest) reached after 2 very tight 3-point turns. The driver,in this case an asthmatic 70 year old, then has to climb 8 steep flights of stairs to reach the reception deck - there is no lift!! On disembarkation from deck "A" there are 8 lanes of cars 4 lanes each back to back with a space for the ramp in the middle - the apparent mode of disembarking is the boldest starts first and with no crew guidance everybody else enters the fray - carnival dodgem cars don't have a look in! I have never seen a classic Ro-Ro ferry in Spanish waters all ferries appear to be designed with vehicles as an afterthought.
"Good journey"
Easy comfortable journey. Went straight to our cabin on the overnight crossing and slept all the way to Palma. Day time crossing pleasant..long queue for restaurant, not open for all the journey and food not brilliant. Better snack bars would help. But very pleasant crossings.
"good experience"
This is my first time trying ferries to travel and I am very satisfied! Next time I will try it again! Thanks!!!!
"Great experience "
Enjoyable trip and friendly staff, yet we wish there had been blankets for the chilly weather by night.
"barcelona to palma"
barcelona to palma ship wasnt clean, toilets were smelly and again not clean not very organised boarding and departing
"overnight ferry"
nice cabin, simple facilaties just self services cafe, good single cabin, main reason for using
"Max and paddy on tour"
Really comfortable crossing, left and arrived on time drinks at the bar reasonably priced.
"Good for cars not quite so good for people"
Car boarding is very good. I didn't have a cabin so can't rate these but I thought the public facilities were not so good - very few toilets and these were such that you didn't go unless you had to and the sleeper seats are looking past their best and not very clean. I will use this service again but next time I'll try a cabin.
"Ship brooker "
I I think the ferry was very nice
"Great trip"
Overall the trip went well, the crews were friendly & helpful. But, The ferry terminal in Barcelona is hard to find being poorly sign posted especially when your in a rush. Secondly, having turned up with bikes on the roof the staff tried to rip me off with extra charges for head room for the bikes, difficult to fathom when i'm parked next to a truck!! ( No problems from Palma staff, totally different attitude). Thirdly, having missed my crossing due to losing my passport i was charged £389 one way when the return crossing had only been £336!!!!!
"Palma to Barcelona"
Decided to book cabin, a great idea to lay down for a nap, however thought I would get an "outside" cabin - there were no windows!
"Excellent!"
Wow how ferries have come in and a what a great service from Transmediterranea! Easy check-in, prompt and efficient boarding, lovely clean cabin and comfortable bad and pillows. I will recommend to all and for sure donthisncrossing again.
"Ferry Crossings"
The boarding was very efficient and the place to queue was easy to find The trip there was very comfortable on the reclining seats and got quite a lot of sleep The return joourney was not as good having been attacked by another passenger who used two hands to push me in the back over a chair which resulted in a cut eye and being on warafarin bled quite profusely also it was difficult to find where to board but generally the crossings were fine
"Barcelona - Palma de Mallorca and return"
I made the trip in my camper, very pleased with the service and price. I would recommend taking a cabin if traveling overnight, it is worth the extra cost. Finding the departure point in Palma is confusing the first time, having to go round the one way system at the port when you could drive straight to the loading area.
"Pleasant crossing"
To find the entrance with a car to check in after dark was a nightmare, leave plenty of time to find the small open gate. The crossing was pleasant , our inside cabin for 2 was adequate, no sockets so you could not charge up your mobile phone .The bed linen and bathroom were clean, but the carpet was badly stained and looked most unpleasant. We did not use any of the catering facilities on board.
"A great ways to see the Balearic's "
Great experience, to also watch the Sunset on the 6pm crossing to Mallorca from Ibiza was great, really good value & organised thanks Trans Med Ferries.
"great trip"
Very enjoyable journey good sun deck too
"Signposts?"
The crossing was punctual, the staff were friendly, the food was good and our cabin was clean. What more could I ask for? My only complaint (which is obviously nothing to do with the ferry company) is the total lack of signposts to the ferry terminal once your within about a mile of its location. This is a problem both in Palma and Barcelona - where it almost caused us to miss the boat.
"Way better than I was expecting!"
My family and I travelled on the Barcelona - Palma - Barcelona route earlier this month and the whole thing was way better than we expected. The ferries were clean and well maintained. The cabin in particular was spotless and served us really well for the 7 hour crossing. Our only gripe would probably be the speed of service at the catering facilities but for 7 hour journey this is easy enough to remedy by bringing your own snacks etc.
"Travel Bulgaria - Barcelona - Palma"
I am satisfied with the service provided. There were no delays. Staff is responsive and friendly.
"Really simple and easy process"
Booked the ferry to Palma from Barcelona and used TransMediterranean ferries, very easy to book and then all you have to do is arrive and jump aboard! The ship was very nice (that's considering I slept in the canteen). No problems at all, would definitely recommend.
"Easy booking, Nice trip"
The ship was punctual with lots of sitting places, and the trip was enjoyable... Get something to keep you busy specially if travelling alone.
"good :)"
We were sleeping all the time, but it was good :)
"Tenacia "
Excellent way to travel & very reasonably priced
"Good trip"
Negative: the car transport was not good, we got space in garage A, which is the lowest deck. The cars could barely fit and I didn't get time to grad what I needed from the car. I couldn't do it while the others parked either because the cars were so close to each other that it wasn't possible to open the doors. Not to mention the staff member who was responsible, the did not seem to be able to speak, his was of communicating was through a whistle! So unpleasant! It was not enough space to drive up and down and to turn (parked trucks in the way). It wasn't adapted for disabled or older people as the only exit had stairs. Positive: nice staff and good and plenty of food
"Amazing!"
Very spacious. Was able to sleep comfortably for the duration of the ride from Mallorca to Ibiza. Would do it again in a heart beat
"Barcelona - Palma de Mallorca - Barcelona"
In terms of the ship and staff it was all good. Very professional. The only thing that may be slightly unusual for UK users is the concept of checking in outside the port at the Trasmediterranea office before you enter the port proper. It wasn't a problem once we'd sussed it out but a new one on me at any rate. Coming back from Palma was the same with the added spice of the departure being from the Commercial dock at the other end of the port to the regular passenger dock. This was explained at check in (at the passenger dock) but it did mean another trip back through Palma to the Commercial dock that I'd ridden past 20 mins before. Also the signage for dock entrances in Palma is non-existant especially round the left-hand slip road you need to take to do the right turn into the passenger dock. Non of that is Trasmediterraea's fault tho.
"Great service friendly staff "
Good service only two issues to point out. 1. It would have helped to have had clear instructions on where to check in on the Barcelona as well as the Palma side. 2. Toilet cubicals on the rear deck were really smelly making it quite unpleasant to get some fresh air on the entire deck if there was an aft wind.
"Excellent experience with Transmed"
We had an excellent journey from Barcelona to Palma. We arrived at Barcelona, checked in and were boarded immediately. We had a very tasty and wecome meal before retiring to our cabin. We had driven from the north of England practically non stop so we were desperate for a good nights sleep. Our beds were very comfortable and before we knew it we were arriving in Palma refreshed and ready to take on the day. Definitely the way to travel!!!!
