"Great trip"
Had a fantastic journey. Crew did a great job taking care of us.
"Trans Med"
My wife is disabled and frankly the ship being older design does not lend itself to helping disabled passengers. The crew were extremely helpful and kind, but the aged design of the ship did little to help them in there task. I wish to make it totally clear that the crew were really kind, thoughtful, and helpful.
"Quick trip"
Information desk and deck crew very helpful and informative.
"Very mixed"
Initially we were horrified when we saw the decrepit state and age of the ship.we asked for a different cabin that wasn't as dirty and worn out. The staff were very apologetic and polite and the beds are basic but clean. After finding information on the net about the ships generally we were presuming that a smart restaurant was available but the cafe was akin to a poor transport cafe. All we asked for was a plate of chips but when we came to pay for them we realised that they were stone cold. The staff told me to heat them up with the aid of the microwave that was available! The key is to take your own supply of foods in future. Overall I probably would use the ferry again but hope to board a newer ship. There are advantages for transporting larger goods and pets. We arrived at the requested time of two hours before departure but were left waiting in a bleak facility with no amenities.you might as well arrive 30 minutes before if you are a foot passenger. The first member of staff that we approached was very unhelpful and sent us to embark without the necessary documents.
"Mahon-Barcelona "
Check in and boarding was quick and easy with friendly staff. On board, the ship was very well equipped and seems to have been recently updated. I was surprised to find that the receptionist on the information desk could not speak any English considering the amount of tourists that use this service. The food restaurant area was again well presented and clean. There was no menu displayed anywhere to indicate what food was being served and the prices. The hot hot food was not hot at all and when this was challenged with staff we were asked to use the microwave in the self service area.
"CAPTIVE AUDIENCE"
As this is the only means of getting a vehicle and 2 passengers from Barcelona to Mallorca and back, then you're going to have to accept the many shortcomings of this 'service'. I'm not really commenting on a vessel in particular because I can only assume that the same will apply to any of them however; I also believe that a complaint without a suggested solution, is just a whinge, so here's my solution. In a nutshell, I would suggest that the Transmediterranea team (management and staff) treat themselves to a sailing on one of Brittany Ferries crossings, say Bilbao - Portsmouth, perhaps then they'll get some idea on how to run a ferry service. Areas for improvement include the following: Enabling passengers to download and print both the departure and return tickets, thus relieving the passengers the hassle of having to search for the Transmedditerania booking office (as there is no clear signage in Palma) to obtain the return boarding passes. Having a website that tells you exactly where to find their terminals, particularly the one in Palma. If it wasn't for the fact that we took the initiative to look for it ourselves, long before the allotted 90 minutes before departure, then we would have been well on the back foot. This is because of the fact that once you have found the office, you are then informed that the actual ferry terminal is in a different place, a couple of miles away and even when they give you a diagram as to its location, the area is utterly devoid of any signs indicating where your ferry might be! The personnel at the Barcelona port, for some inexplicable reason are insistent that the passengers within the vehicle cannot remain in the vehicle to board and must instead, make their way on foot to board. My wife followed this nonsensical direction, whereas it soon became obvious to me that a good many people (clearly localised) ignored this direction and remained in their vehicles to then board unimpeded. The hapless vehicle passengers who did follow this direction are then subjected to a mindlessly lax security check, where they're bags are x rayed before boarding. Surely, if they were going to bring anything contentious aboard the vessel, they would have left it in the vehicle which is allowed to board without scrutiny? Strangely, these rules did not apply for the return journey. Boarding the ferry in Palma can only be described as being a disorganised free-for-all, with very few ferry personnel available to direct boarding traffic and those that are available just adding to the chaos; indiscriminately blowing whistles and waving their arms in random directions. And with this being a night crossing, the visibility at times for maneuvering a vehicle in the glare of numerous headlights, is extremely poor which just adds to the confusion and accentuates the lack of directing personnel. On both the crossings, the vehicles are left on open decks and exposed to the elements, arriving at the destination caked in salt crust. Not a happy start to the day for a classic vehicle owner! Because of the very late departure times of both sailings (2300 - 2355) there is little opportunity to take advantage of the ship's facilities, which is probably a good thing because they have only 1 member of staff manning the servery at the coffee bar, for a ship containing a few hundred passengers. It would seem that the vessel's owners regard queuing as being some form of recreation! All in all then; I have little to recommend this 'service', all of which was incurred at the princely sum of 825 euros, some 100 Euros more for a 125 mile/ 7 hour crossing, than it costs for a return from Portsmouth - Bilbao! And, the miserly company then wants to charge you for wifi!
"VERY DISAPPOINTING!"
We embarked the ferry in the rain and soon were made aware that it was A CASH ONLY FERRY. In other words NO cards were accepted and to make matters worse there was no currency exchange facility. We only had 15 Euros on us which meant we could not eat anything for the entire crossing. Why weren’t we informed of this in advance? For some reason we arrived in Barcelona at 6.30 although our confirmation said 7.45. As we had booked and paid for a transfer from the port to a hotel this caused a long wait as we did not have a phone number to call the transfer company. I am in a wheel chair and the entire situation was not helped by the incompetence of the ferry assistants who managed to get me off the ferry in my wheel chair but then stood waiting as a thunderstorm began producing very heavy rain. A total disaster.
"Better than it used to be"
They are never going to be same level as Brittany ferries, but I thought the service has improved massively, Juan J Sister has had some refit work and cabins were good, toilet was a bit smelly, this will now be my main main ferry after using Balearia for many years
"May Day Ferrry"
After booking , I could not upgrade online from a seat to a cabin. Once on board, however, I was able to do so after looking at the seats and found the ‘first class’ seats area locked. The reception and catering staff were friendly and professional. The boarding left much to be desired with no announcements regarding our Ciutadella ferry at all and all announcements were in Spanish. The sailing was very late with passenger details being taken ten minutes after the boat should have sailed. I had waited over four and a quarter hours in my car waiting to board. Once on board, there was no-one stopping people re-entering the car deck. The departure was very hap- hazard with cars driving around other cars with no drivers in due to no announcements. I have travelled on other ferries and all announcements are in various languages so that everyone knows what is happening. In the event of an emergency this is a disaster waiting to happen.
"A nice midnight journey"
Good cabin makes us sleep well. Waked in the early morning and watched a beautiful sunrise which makes the port of Barcelona more gorgeous.
"Smooth sailing"
All went really well, from check-in at Barcelona, to parking in the secure area before boarding..being able to have rime to walk my dog thru Barcelona before departure and not worry about the car... Boarding was quick and efficient, and not the least because there were not many cars or trucks or people to board on this trip. The Ferry itself was in good condition, easy to get about, comfortable and the food was better than on other boats I have travelled on. Staff were helpful and kind. The kennel area for my dog was clean, though smaller than other boats. The cabin was tidy and comfy and quiet. The journey was smooth sailing and I slept quite well several hours making arrival early hours in Ibiza not so bad.
"trip from Barcelona to Mahon"
very good
"Worth using"
Long journey but worth using Trasmediterranea
"Very disappointed"
On arrival at Barcelona ferry port to collect my boarding pass,I was told that the ferry was not going to Mahon but was in fact going to Cuitadella instead. As I live in Cala end porter I had to hire a taxi to get me home, which cost me 70 euros. So suffice to say I was not very happy.
"Easy journey and friendly staff "
Couldn’t fault Transmed, the origin port was changed and port staff tried tirelessly to contact me to advise of the change, and ensured I didn’t miss the sailing even though I arrived within 5 mins of departure time. The staff on board were very helpful and pleasant.
"Review"
Well organised and on time. Cabin adequate. On time, no complaints
"Maiden voyage "
First time on a ferry so unsure what to expect but the journey was seamless. No problems at either end with quick and easy boarding and embarking. We had a cabin which was a good move as we had children with us so we were all able to have a good nights rest and we had a quick bite in the onboard cafe before this. All in all I would not hesitate in using this ferry again.
"Night-time crossing from Barcelona to Menorca"
The port in Barcelona was easy enough to find and it really helped being able to print out our boarding passes before arriving at the port, although it would have been better to able to do this more than seven days in advance. The cabin was fine, with two beds and a toilet/shower and air conditioning. The crossing was smooth and we were able to sleep. We were roused at around 0630 for arrival at 0715. Disembarkation with our car was swift.
"Overnight trip"
Welcomed on board and slick operation to retrieve cabin card. Cabins are decent size, quiet, good size bunks and washroom. Bring your own water as tap water is not drinkable. Worth getting up at sunrise to see entrance to Mahon harbour!
"A cheap ferry but you get what you pay for."
The ferry was a very old and very small ship which has no stabilisers so if your idea of a fun afternoon is spending 4 hours watching people be sick this is ideal for you. I however was less than inpressed. The scowling disinterested barman added to my enjoyment no end. I would not take this ferry and wouod rather swim to be honest.
"Never 100 transmediterranea again."
An absolute joke.
"Great family ferry trip"
Comfortable experience.
"Daytime crossing - Mahon to Barcelona"
Fine and functional but long and boring. Would recommend night crossing so that you can sleep through it!
"good crossing"
We chose to cross from Palma to Barcelona this time at 23.30 on the 1st of October, normally we use the 12.30 ferry and arrive in Barcelona early evening. we then drive about 100 or so miles into France. This time we got off the ferry at 08.00 and so were able to drive over 400 miles in the daylight and stay overnight in Lyon. The boarding was one of the easiest we have ever done. The staff on the deck pointing us to where we had to park were great and the staff on the elevators and staircases pointing us in the right direction were also great. We got our key for our cabin at reception and then settled down to sleep for the duration of the crossing. All very easy and pleasurable. Thank you
"Valencia to Ibiza and back"
Easy boarding both ports. Friendly welcome. Great cabins for short trip. Nice open deck to enjoy sun and balmy evening on outward trip. No rip off on beverages
"Ferry Ibiza to Valencia return "
Expensive but meant we could take our camper to Ibiza.
"Great crossing"
The ship was on time leaving and arriving. The cabin was very comfortable. The facilities were good and the staff friendly and helpful. A positive experience.
"barcelona > Ibiza > Barcalona"
The entrance to the ferry port in Barcelona was not easy to find. A small entrance with a flag made things even more unclear. We drove by three times which was odd as I travel quite regularly with many ferries from here. Outward trip was fine. Food and drinks are not too expensive. Cabin as well, as you would expect. Return trip; again, we had to search for the port Entrance. The signs in the several languages arent very clear. Furthermore, 1 port in Eivissa is run by 2 operators. The offices are not clearly separated. There was a storm on the way back and my wife lay asleep, miserable like a tamed bird in a cage because was sea sick but she got better when we arrived at the port. This ferry was better than the others, so, recommended.
"Journey Bacellona Palma and return"
The journey it was quiet nice, the ship is big and comfotable, kind and helpful, 2berth cabin ok, fast boarding and landing,, on the return 30 minutes dalay, because there were heavy vehicles. The experience it was quite good, nothing to complain about.
"Reserved seats"
Nothing to say about the reserved seats. Only thing (and also the most important) is that seats are located close to the doors to go outside on the deck. All night people came and go through. Plus the doors are relly noisy. Next time I will go for a cabin.
"Very pleasant"
The chairs were comfortable. It would be amazing if they could recline but I can't complain. The television was turned off when it was time to sleep and the attendant came by regularly to check up on everyone. I would travel with this company again.
"Barcelona - Palma de Mallorca - Barcelona"
In terms of the ship and staff it was all good. Very professional. The only thing that may be slightly unusual for UK users is the concept of checking in outside the port at the Trasmediterranea office before you enter the port proper. It wasn't a problem once we'd sussed it out but a new one on me at any rate. Coming back from Palma was the same with the added spice of the departure being from the Commercial dock at the other end of the port to the regular passenger dock. This was explained at check in (at the passenger dock) but it did mean another trip back through Palma to the Commercial dock that I'd ridden past 20 mins before. Also the signage for dock entrances in Palma is non-existant especially round the left-hand slip road you need to take to do the right turn into the passenger dock. Non of that is Trasmediterraea's fault tho.
"A good experience"
A very good experience, a clean cabin and an helpful staff.
"crossing"
I am impressed by the cleanliness and the service. It's pricey though…. I would recommend it.
"Very punctual and problem free"
"Easy!"
Easy booking over the website. Easy crossing. Fortunately the weather was good too. No complaints!
"Agp-min-agp journey "
The journey to Melilla was very good. There were no big waves so the ship didn't move that much. It arrived on time to Melilla. The return was as good but during the night. The arrival in Malaga was also punctual.
"the best"
the cabin was very clean and the restaurant was decent. I'll do it again.
"Crossing "
A great company, the boat was beautiful, clean and well organised. I'm proud of this crossing.
"A good team"
I was very satisfied with the boat and with the crew. However, it's a pity that we have to queue in the same line than people buying the tickets on the same ticket. Purchasing the ticket on your website is very quick, but it takes 2h30 to have get the physical ticket. I won't even mention the fatigue, the heat and the cries. Everyone is pushing and you worry about the children who are alone in the car while you get your boarding passes. Please open a ticket office for the people who have already booked their tickets. Thanks.
"A quality service"
My only advise is to use directferries.
"To Malaga"
A very good and tranquil journey. Cleanliness and….
"A crossing review"
We booked a cabin for the crossing. It was clean. The staff was competent and friendly. We'll use the same company again.
""
I travelled with Trasmediterranee this spring and this summer. I appreciated the respect of the schedule and the cleanliness of the boat. I will travel again with direct ferries for my next crossings
""
The outbound journey went well. However, the inbound journey was one hour late. Plus, it was noisy and the lounge area wasn't clean.
"Almeria- Melilla- Almeria"
The crossing was pleasant. The boat was clean and confortable. I regret however the inefficiency of the Marocan custom officers. You have to wait for half an hour. The parking at the port is located outiside and in the sun unfortunately.
"A good trip"
Not bad
"Melilla was missing!"
It is worth going to Melilla. I think it's been a while since I travelled in such a nice ship. From the seats to the bars and shops were all harmony. The staff were also very nice and always smiling. I am 70 years and the weekend was great. In Melilla everything went well but the journey in the ship was a total cruise. I recommend all Spaniards to use this service and visit Melilla. It is rwally worth it. Thanks everybody for this wonderful weekend.
"My opinion of the ferry"
Hello. I was very satisfied with this crossing. It wasn't tiring. From now on I will always travel Almeria Oran and thank the whole crew who is very patient with the passengers (and it's not easy).
"A pleasant crossing"
Departure on time. Arrival on time. Good reception on board. The sleeping cabin is clean and well-equiped. Congratulations to the captain, we didn't feel a thing in the cabin.
"quiet crossing"
A very good impression. No problem.
"Malaga Melilla crossing"
Ferry crossing all good, staff friendly and cabin was clean.
"Crossing"
Nice ship, service onboard all good apart from one problem - televisions didn't have programs adapted for children and they weren't of a very high standard anyway (the TV's).
"Pool!"
Absolutely recommend travelling on a ferry with swimming pool!Restaurant had reasonable prices too.
