Sister ship to the La Suprema, La Superba can carry up to 2920 passengers on each crossing. This fine ferry contains 567 cabins, 37 suites and also four specially adapted disabled cabins. There is room for 984 vehicles and the ship can reach speeds of up to 28 knots. With room for a lot of travellers, the ship comes with plenty of facilities and attractions to ensure an enjoyable sailing experience for all. There is a wide choice of culinary options, a shopping centre, designated children’s area, games room as well as public Wi-Fi. There is also a seasonal swimming pool in the warmer summer months.
Comfortable cabin options are available onboard La Superba. With 567 cabins and 37 luxurious suites to choose from, you won’t be disappointed. All cabins come with air conditioning, en suite bathrooms, including a shower and hairdryer and the comfy beds will help you put your feet up, relax and maybe get some much needed sleep. If you choose to stay in one of the sumptuous suites you will be able to take advantage of complimentary air conditioning, a television, radio and mini bar, as well as a large porthole for you to admire the sea views.
There really is something to please all culinary tastes on La Superba, with a huge variety of food options available. The a la carte restaurant provides those onboard with a combination of Mediterranean, regional and international meals with a range of delicious dishes for all three courses. The self service area allows you to have a large array of different choices in an informal setting whilst the snack bar serves up fast food classics.
A shopping centre can be found on La Superba where you can enjoy some duty free shopping whilst making your crossing. Voyagers have the chance to buy gifts and pick up some great bargains on items such as perfume, aftershave, alcohol and other selected items. There are also newspapers, magazines, books, toys and puzzles to help you pass the time on your travels.
In the summer months make sure you pack those swimming costumes as you can enjoy the benefits of the Mediterranean climate from the on deck pool. However, all year round you can while away the hours in the modern games room or if you fancy a little flutter, on the slot machines. If you and your colleagues need to have meetings on the move then you are covered thanks to the conference centre and meeting rooms. The public Wi-Fi also makes sure you can surf the web as well as the waves whilst onboard. You’ll also find a chapel and library on the ferry.
Travelling with little ones can sometimes be a challenge but the designated children’s area helps keep young voyagers happy.
The ship has been adapted throughout to help travellers with restricted mobility and also has four disabled cabins.

"Boat trip "
Very poor organization. The ship left way too late. Overal cleanliness was very poor, aswell was the food. I would never take a ferry again with this company. Not worth the money at all.
"Avoid avoid absolutely robbery "
They won't let me in down to the online booking not exact figure . They still behind not using online cheap booking . The gnv palermo italie the two woman behind the counter called the online booking is wrong and not acceptable!!!!
"Discrasful iam trapped abroad "
Avoid the gnv italie palermo my booking was absolutely realistic price . As a foreign passing they did charge x4 the price . Not happy at all . Iam still abroad sleeping in the van . I need full refund please . And iam seeking alternative way through the land tomorrow
"Bring your own food!"
As usual this was a good, efficient trip (my 4th in the past 5 years). however - the cafeteria food was in no way up to the standard you would expect. One other point- for anyone doing this trip for the first time, bear in mind that the road system approaching the port is very confusing, and the signage not at all clear (especially at night)
"GNV palermo to genoa- a good way to travel"
Generally this was a good trip with a nice cabin. However, the main irritation on this and the outbound journey was the requirement to vacate the cabin by 4.30pm when we were not due to arrive until 7.45pm (actually it was an hour later). That is 4 hours sitting in a crowded coffee area or on the deck which was not possible some of the time because of rain. We paid for a higher class of cabin on the assumption that we would be able to relax in it until we arrived. It seems that this is done to prepare the rooms prior to arrival for the next cruise. But is it also so the crew can get off early? We have previously done the similar length journey with P&O from Santander to Plymouth and we were able to stay in our cabin until docking. Finally the staff in the self-service restaurant, greeting, cleaning the cabins and the bars were fairly unfriendly and unhelpful. They were better in the a la carte restaurant.
"No seats at the pool by warm and sunny weather!"
We are very disappointet!
"Terrible"
Still waiting to get off, 1 hour late, nobody k ows what is happening. Food awful and expensive, drinks double on land. Never again
"Trip was so so"
Having used this service for last 4 years, sometimes twice per year, it is a first to be woken early in the morning by someone banging continually in next door cabin, or passengers but stuff doing work! Not good and not really helpful! Door to cabin would not lock and had staff open door twice on journey! A bit of customer services and hospitality training in order I suggest. If another service provider was available I would use them in a shot, Regards Chris
"It Serves a Purpose"
It's ok. But the food is always stone cold...not luke warm....cold. It just misses the little touches that make things better...it feels like no one cares about the experience. Quite depressing. No information provided except over the tannoy which is difficult to pick up.
"Palermo - Genoa GNV"
We were avoiding flying for environmental reasons so travelled by bus, train and ferry instead. We had an excellent trip with GNV. Efficient service and helpful staff. Very comfortable 4 berth cabin to ourselves - there were 2 of us. Very clean, good shower. The food was very reasonably priced and adequate. Very punctual. I would definitely travel with them again, and on other ferries.
"Traversée très agréable"
Cabines spacieuses, bien équipées, fonctionnelles. Beaucoup d'espace pour se promener. Décor un peu clinquant. Service au bar à café peu efficace.
"Chaos"
The voyage itself was splendid. However finding the key to my cabin was extremely frustrating. I had to wander the halls carrying my luggage for a good 10 minutes. This is probably a good time for me to say that I speak Italian. Likewise Dis embarkation was extremely chaotic. Once we were allowed off the ship we found ourselves in an area of Palermo that was dark and lacking signs. This is probably a good time for me to say I had visited Palermo twice before and so could eventually find my way. New travelers had a lot harder time of it. I have taken French ferries to and from Sicily and they are much better organized.
"excellent"
i enjoyed so much my trip i will book again with gnv 😍
"Great trip!"
Everything was just great with this trip from Genoa to Tunis! We are two swedes who travel from Stockholm to Tunis without flying, and this last part of our trip was really pleasant!
"Very relaxing experience - eventually "
Well, the check in process at Genoa was a little bit confusing- there are virtually no road signs except one at the side of the road in Italian which said “Embarcado” and if we has missed it I am sure we would have spent ages trying to find it again. Genoa is a huge port and ok this is Italy but some concession to non native speakers would have been welcome. Anyway we eventually found the ticket office and collected our tickets and having been checked three times made it to the loading queue. From then on, chaos reigned with cars being directed right, left, straight ahead and anything in between.and we started loading at around 9.15pm. We tried to follow directions as best we could but Italian drivers were very impatient and beeped at us if we were not quite fast enough. We eventually parked on the garage deck and made our way up to our cabin. From then on it was great - a whole 21 hours of nothing to do, but one tip here - if you can, stop at a supermarket and purchase your en route snacks and drinks to take on board as on the boat prices are high and quality mediocre. Cabin was fine, very comfortable- only downside you are booted out 21/4 hours before you reach Genoa and have to sit in a crowded bar until you reach port - assuming you can get a seat that is. Still, saved me 800 miles driving through Italy and that’s got to be a positive!
"Superba lives up to its name"
The luxury three berth, outside cabin provided spacious and comfortable accommodation for a lengthy crossing. We enjoyed the food at the ‘ A la carte restaurant ‘. The time between having to vacate the cabin and disembarkation is far too long ( up to three hours ).
"May 2018"
Overall the ferry service is very good the cabins were clean and tide One thing I would do next time -would NOT be to pre pay for the on board food as it is very basic look And you be better buy food ashore and take your own for on board Plus allow for some delays in departure times both of our ferry's departed almost 2 hours late- but arrived on time
"Trip Palermo to Genova"
Strike just before my arrival at Palermo Port delaying sailing for four hours. Total chaos checking-in & loading. Appalling management of vehicles & information non existant. Not helped by delay but I would be surprised if chaos was not the norm. Ship itself very nice including my room (4 berth booked just for myself & would be fine for two. Four would be claustrophobic). After very late arrival a further 1.5 hours for me to disembark. Obviously many earlier but some later. First on is last off. I would try to find an alternative not because of the ship itself but the port procedures & handling are appalling. I would not recommend this trip, not because of the ship itself but the poor sailing time to begin with & the terrible port handling
"Still onboard"
I booked this ferry leaving Genoa at 2000. A combination of GNV rescheduling (3 hours) and apparent strike action @ Genoa (4hours) left us quayside until 0300 the following morning. No sign whatsoever of strike, in fact port workers acting flat out to get everyone onboard, although chaotic at times. Further delays in loading and now scheduled to arrive 2300 tonight. No possibility of arriving in time to access a campsite for our Motor home so facing another long night quayside in Palermo. Advice from reception - try speaking to a local to find out where we can stop safely! Far less than impressive!
"Excellent trip "
Very well organised boarding the ship staff was friendly we had a meal on board food was good and the boat very clean. Would use them again
"Our trip "
It's the first time we have been on a large ferry, and the over all experience was good. The cabin was good, but there was only a sheet on the bed and no blankets. The ship is general was clean and the crew very friendly. The catering was very average and expenceive, most of the facilities were closed.
"Great but for the waiting"
We have now travelled on the Genova-Palermo or Palermo-Genova route about a dozen times over the last 6 years. We think it is a great service, far preferable to driving the length of Italy, and good value IF you go outside the high season, as we do. We generally take an outside cabin with a double bed, for optimum comfort -- the journey does take 20-22 hours, which is exhausting if you only take an airline seat. If you can afford a cabin, go for it. We find the self-service cafeteria not very good, so we tend to take some food on the boat to eat in the evening and for breakfast. But we do usually eat lunch in the more up-market Restaurant Chandelier, which is excellent. The only downside to the journey is the long wait to disembark, particularly if our car is located deep down on Deck A, which for some reason it always is. Two to two-and-half hours waiting around from the time you are asked to vacate your cabin to the time you can drive off the boat, is rather long.
"Not bad but could be better"
The Information desk is not very helpful! They couldn't identify the islands we were passing back to Genoa nor the procedures for disembarking. Plus the cafeteria is overpriced and not very good value for money. Otherwise, fine!
"Ferry to Sicily From Genoa "
We had a nice trip on the ferry which generally very good. The bar was lovely with a really good DJ playing excellent music. We had a cabin which although quite small, was clean tidy and had a good shower. The main problem we had was with the meals. We paid for breakfast and 2 meals upfront. There was no information supplied about anything on the ship. You had to go to the reception desk to ask. We were told that the vouchers supplied for the measy could only be used in what can only be described as the canteen. We picked a few things for breakfast even though we had the vouchers had to pay €10 extra. We had lunch which was stone cold. They must have known this as there are microwaves in the middle of the canteen to reheat your food. We then asked what time the evening meal was served from and we're told that they closed after lunch and did not reopen. The only other problem we had was the cleanliness of the toilets in the public areas.
"Review"
No TV or WiFi in cabins - unfortunate for long trips. Cabins of Scandinavian ferries much better equipped. Car drivers following instructions and arriving early or on time are loaded onto the lowest deck and have to wait an hour to disembark. Car drivers deliberately arriving late are loaded onto the upper decks allowing immediate departure. Something wrong there, surely?
"As flat as a millpond"
We had a really excellent mini cruise from Palermo to Genoa. The sea was flat calm and the weather excellent. The cabin was comfortable and spacious and food and drinks were not over priced as on some ferries. We had to wait 45 mins to disembark which as it was around 8.00 pm could have been a problem for getting to our overnight campsite. It would have taken us 3 days to have driven the distance and cost us more. Looking forward to travelling with them again next year.
"Fix the swimming pool"
Crossing was okay, but the facilities are a bit worn out. Read in another review that the swimming pool was out of order and also on our trip the swimming pool was closed which was a hugh disappointment for our kids
"Had nice time on the ferry"
Had nice time on the ship and would go back some time soon
"Great ships!"
Fantastic ships - very spacious and comfortable. Excellent cabin (4-berth exterior). Good restaurants but the bar facilities were a bit disappointing. Some areas were not available (e,g, the library). On the whole, a great experience we would be happy to repeat.
"Travelling by car to Malta"
The ferry from Genoa, Italy covers a large part of the travelling and cost less than driving the length of Italy, unless your vehicle uses very little fuel. It was our third trip on this route although it is later in the season so was busier than before. The cabins are well presented and well worth purchasing; the hot shower in the en suite is so welcoming after the drive across the UK , France and Italy. I don't think we had this ferry before as our beds this time were a little harder and there was some damage on the sink but nothing that affected our useage. The anouncement system was broken so coupled with the speaker's accents we could not understand the instructions this time but at least we knew the procedures. The restaurant provides hot food but they use bain mare pans to keep things hot whilst serving and it doesn't seem to work very well so they have at least put a microwave in the restaurant for the customer's use. Another advantage is that they have Kennels and a walking deck for pets so you can take them with you, although not into the cabins. Disadvantages are that they do not go directly to Malta and so we have to drive the length of Sicily and get an overnight stay somewhere to catch the Pozzallo ferry to Valletta in the morning. I think Gran Navi Veloci could make a huge trade if they ran a passenger ferry from Genoa to Sardinia then on to Malta. Happy travels.
"La Suoerba"
Good points Ferry was on time leaving and early arriving Comfortable bed, spacious cabin. Low Points Unhelpful staff Poor standard of catering and virtually no choice Limited bar facility Very hot and stuffy on-board Tired not very clean accommodation
"a great sailing "
Grandi Navi Velocity from Palermo to Genoa was well managed from the efficient loading of vehicles thru the good meals to the very clean, comfortable and spacious double cabin that we rented. The meal plan is worth having, dinner & lunch were substantial although breakfast was a bit light. They even had a separate area for our motorcycle and the 2 others, away from the trucks and cars. We recently sailed from Greece to Brandisi Italy on a competing line (single word name also starting with a "G") and although not bad it was no where near as comfortable and good value.
"Great trip"
We booked Pullman seats but upgraded to a cabin when onboard which made the journey really enjoyable. Helpful, friendly staff. Disappointed the pool was not in use as it was a beautiful day. The only downside was the early exit from the cabin, two hours before we docked and the chaos of the wait to access the car, could easily be rectified, this was a common experience not just a Brit gripe. Enjoyed the trip however.
"to palermo from genoa. "
Probably cheaper than driving but not as scenic. You arrive fresh rather than tired. Cabin was good. nice sleep. restaurant had good food. done the trip several times. Last on, first off!!!!!!
"Journey to Tunis"
We enjoyed the journey, the cabins are really comfotable. Fast and professional in problems solving.
"Excellent journey"
It was the first time travelling with ferry. I recommend all to use it to go to Sisily from north Italy. From now on I will always use GNV.
"my journey with GNV"
I felt good, helpful staff and all was ok.
"it was best experience at great price..."
All was good only there was no water in swimming pool... Could not find anything wrong... Highly recommended...
"all OK!!!"
I am satisfied! Kind and helpful staff, and easy booking. Thanks
"Genoa Palermo and riturn"
Genoa-Palermo in board the La Superba it was not the best journey, all approximeted, poor self-service quality. The return with Majestic was so much better, good cleaning, especially inside the cabin, helpfull staff, it was like a mini cruise with a really resanable price.
"Good cabin, no issues apart from wifi"
Wifi should be much cheaper to buy, or made free altogether, especially after paying for a cabin with wifi already in place and reachable/available. a Strong minus regarding this. Otherwise very satisfied with the service.
"Genoa Palermo trip"
all good thanks
"Driving From UK to SICILY"
By far the most; Comfortable, safest, relaxed and best value for money to drive to Sicily from the UK, Grandi Navi Veloci on the la Superba, twicw now I have used this service and twice now it has proved to be a mini cruise on an excellently equiped ship. I would always recommend this method of travel.
"Relaxing trip"
Rvery relaxing trip, I recommend it. The seats are comfortable but not to sleep. Nothing negative to say.
"comfortable travel"
I travelled in the month of Dicember 2014 and I have to say that it was a comfotable trip. Clean ship, comfortable seats, and easy garage.Plus your website is really easy to undestant e for booking. Good job.
"all good"
Travel with you it was very quiet and a lot relaxing
"October 2014"
Having used this ferry route previously, I knew what to expect, and as usual it was clean, on time, and the trip was a pleasant one. I only had one annoying moment, and on the route from Palermo to Genoa, we had a good meal, well presented in the a la carte restaurant, unfortunately on requesting a coffee, and a liquer, the coffee arrived cold. We informed the waiter who told us he thought it may be as the machine had been broken since the day before. Instead of apologising, and making a coffee in the kitchen, getting one from the bar, or just heating it up in the microwave, which was situated next to the defunct coffee machine, we were told there was no coffee available. On paying our bill, I thought that in lieu of a coffee, that the liquer would have been offered free by way of compensation. No, it was not, and both waiters were by now being rude. A senior member of staff arrived, and took us through to the bar, and sorted out a complimentary coffee, at the same time as agreeing with us that the matter could and should have been handled better. I will use the ferry again, but if the same staff are in the a la carte restaurant, I shall not be utilising it. The remainder of the staff were helpful and pleasant through out both trips.
"Arrived early, but long, long wait to disembark"
The Palermo-Genoa service is generally a good one -- the cabins are clean, if a little old-fashioned, the restaurant food is OK and the staff are polite. However, I do think that the disembarcation procedures need looking at. We were asked to leave our cabin at 5.30 for a projected 7.00pm arrival (2 hours early due to very calm seas)and then had to sit in a very crowded bar until 7.30, eventually getting off the boat at about 8.00pm. It does not seem very efficient, but perhaps that is due to the multiple vehicle decks.
"palermo-genova"
The last year they treated very bed, infact I said I will never travel with GNV anymore. But this year I use it again and it was all very clean and tidy, comfortable seats and all was ok apart from the service at the bar, they did not how to make a coffee.
"Only one complaint"
I found everything fine and convenient. However, long before disembarking, thhe toilets werde closed. In addition to my own dismay, I observed several agitated and unpleasant quarrels beween needy travellers and cleaning personell, but mostly desperate people in search of someone who could help them. There should be clear announcements about the availablility of WC facilities.
"my trip"
big, clean and tidy ship. For this long crossing, the reserved seat is not the best accomodation but it's comfy. Frindly and nice the staff. Restaurant really expensive compared to the quality.
"A trip to Sicily"
I've travelled from Genoa to Palermo with Grandi navi veloci. I was very satisfied with the timekeeping. We departed and arrived on time (actually even early thanks to a nice sea. I would be happy to renew this experience.
"SURPRISE FREE"
The journey was pleasant, the service on board was good, it was on time. The cabin could be better maintained, it wouldn't need much: a plug in working order, some properly fixed towel handle, etc.
"June 2014 holidays"
Thanks GNV for your services. It was punctual and it offered a great value for money.
"A journey between Genoa and Palermo with Grandi Navi Veloci aboard La Superba"
I recommend it to everybody… it's a great experience, a confortable journey!
"Overall a pleasant trip"
My wife and I travelled from Genoa to Palermo in June 2014 with a car. We booked an outside cabin. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Loading was simple and straightforward. The cabin was roomy, clean and comfortable. The meals we ate on the ferry were acceptable. We wouldn't hesitate in making this trip again and would recommend it to fellow travellers.
"Unexpectedly good experience"
A very enjoyable trip spoilt by dirty sheets on my bed. Very comfortable suite going. Comfortable, but dirty sheeted cabin, coming back. Restaurant on top deck very disappointing, food mediocre and expensive. Staff uncooperative. Service poor. Not what one would expect from Italian waiters.. Plenty of good seating accommodation in main lounge. Wonderful coffee. Loading very efficient and well organised.
"Very good crossings / some suggestions to do better"
Some idea for improvement: -the AC is too cold inside the boat, there is the opportunity to save energy and to improve the confort of passengers -the loading of the cars is very frustrating: the first people to board should be the first the disembark. All you have to do is to modify the loading order. -the opening hours of the restaurant and of the self restaurant are too short -getting evicted from your cabin 2 hours before arrival with nowhere too sit is really unconfortable and gives the bad impression before the end of the journey. -the catering staff should be commercial : ex: a cold coffee which was still billed.
"Great trip to Sicily!"
Have been on many ferries and had the small cabin filled with four bunks. Decided to "push the boat out" on this trip and booked a 3 berth outside cabin for the two of us. Had a superb cabin looking out over the bow of the ship with a large double bed. Had the best night's sleep of our fortnight away. The on board catering was very good, once we had found the self-service restaurant! Yes the ship left late, but made time up on the journey and arrived early. The only (small) fly in the ointment was the chaotic and time consuming loading and unloading. Good comfy clean and recommended.
"A journey from Genoa to Palermo"
Hello, Everything went well overall. However, it would be good to have some more information regarding the ferry access in Genoa.
"Got lost????"
We had a pleasant journey aboard the La Superba. But the signage on board is limited and can be improved.
"My Trip from Genoa"
My trip from Genoa to Palermo was very comfortable. I recomend it to all.
"a trip to Sicily in the portofino room"
We were sitting in the Portofino room on some chairs, which weren't very confortable for sleeping. Moreover, the AC was too strong ; we were cold. You should tell the passengers to bring a blanket. The lights were too strong as well. A night light would be enough for the night. The food at the self was very good, but the cafe bar was not. The ship was very clean and boarding and disembarkment were very well organised.
"Jouney to Sicily"
It helps when the service is punctual amd it would be lovely to have the same sailing schedule in Summer and Winter
"A good journey but you need to choose your boat carefully"
Genoa - Palermo line We travelled aboard the the FI for the outbound journey and the Superba for the return journey. We were disappointed with the outbound journey and satisfied with the inbound journey. OUTBOUND: difficult boarding, the vehicle was placed on the external deck and the car was covered with salt when we arrived, there was only one place to eat and no confortable deck outside. You need to bring something to keep you occupied during the crossing! that ferry was fitter for freight than for tourism. INBOUND: the disembarkement is fluid and efficient, the boat is spacious and well equiped (there were several places to eat, several rooms and spaces to relax, outer decks with a pool, a movie theatre, a club...). The restaurant was good (the spaghetti with seafood were delicious). The lounge is huge, so in high season it's probably not that quiet! I would recommend Grandi Navi at the condition of being careful about the boat.
"The temperature of the cabin during the crossing between Napoli and Genoa was too cold"
Nobody came to set the cabin temperature and we were cold all night long. Everything was fine on board.
"beware of the beer"
at the bar, the beer wasn't fizzy, they pretend not to be aware
"a real minicruise"
Beautiful journey, I was in an outside cabin with a sea view, excellent food, the staff were firendly and helpful. I recommend it
"journey was good"
Our way from Palermo-Genoa was very nice. Good boat and a nice cabin. We thought we would have such a boring time travelling 21 hours, but it wasn't like that at all.
"Coordinates for boarding in Genoa"
It was good. Nothing to report except that the coordinate for boarding in Geneo were not properly indicated and that it took me 3/4h to find the boarding area. Please give us the GPS coordinates.
"Good....But .....Still Nowhere to Sit Comfortably in Peace and Quiet "
This is generally an excellent service. This trip was spoilt by two or three relatively small things. There are two lounges with `sleeping seats`..One small..with windows...one lower down (much larger) with NO windows...The ship was quite empty...but the lounge with windows was closed. The lower, larger, lounge has much more ambient noise from the ships engines....and 20 hours is a long time to have to spend there with both the noise and no natural light. Even in the large bar/lounge further forward.. there is constant noise from two differently tuned televisions..in addition to which...on two occasions , some fairly talent-free `ships entertainer` insisted on assaulting our ears with his out of tune karaoke crooning.(NO..the tvs were NOT turned off during this...he just got louder and louder.) If the price of a cabin bore more resemblance to a night in a 2* hotel (rather than a 4 or 5*)...then I`m sure most of the cabins would be occupied.
"beautiful Journey"
Comfortable, fast, cheap
"La Superba "
On both trips between Genoa and Palermo, there was nothing to complain about. This is true for the ferries La Superba and Splendit which I keep very well as high quality vessels in memory.
"Reaching Sicily"
The Genoa to Palermo ferry is the cheapest way to reach Sicily from Northern Europe. It takes about 20/21 hours, a very easy trip, not very busy each time we have used it, and takes all the hassle out of the LONG drive. The GNV ferries are quite well appointed, quite comfortable, and all in all, by far the best way to travel.
"Excessive ticket price"
Expensicve ticket for this trip in my opinion. Even the prices of the bar on board were expensive..
"Plain sailing, once aboard."
The ship and the trip were fine and it was very enjoyable. However, the cabins and some of the infrastructure are a little on the tired side. Having said the that the shower in the cabin was very good with lots of hot water. It would have been better if the shower curtain had been replaced by a door. As usual the food on board was a little pricey. I feel certain they would sell much more if prices were lower. The real problems are encountered getting to the port and finding the ship. There seems to be little room to direct traffic into lanes leading to the waiting/loading area and it is a bit of a free for all. Driving through Palermo is an 'interesting' experience. I suppose everyone should do it al least once in their life but signs to the port entrance would help. In the end, the ship was over an hour late leaving but managed to arrive in Genoa an hour early. Very Italian. Getting off also seems to be a bit of a free-for-all. Without doubt both the loading and unloading could do with more control at the level of the port with clear access routes and the port entrance being properly signed. Definitely an interesting experience.
"Palermo -Genova of 12/11/2013"
I use to travel with this company every year on the crossing Genoa /Palermo and I am in general satisfied with the service. It would be very convenient for me, the availability of a connection between Genoa and Catania instead of Palermo though. Can you organise this?
"very good "
The whole familly was happy, we can not complain.
"Satisfied but cold "
We were pleased with the crossing. It corresponded to all of our expectations. Only the Sanitary facilities might be a bit better maintained and in the air conditioners can cool a little less.
"A crossing which has surpassed all expectations. "
Organized "early November a week after Sicily, Travel by ferry. Super, really foolproof handling., The size and elegance of the ship took us by surprise, clearly no comparison to a cruise ship, but for a ferry. Staff very polite and helpful, all areas clean. Punctual arrival and drop. On the way back rough seas, including the cleanliness has suffered, the staff can not help it if so many people caught the seasickness. For this, the speed was increased, the crossing was an hour faster. We will repeat the journey safe again. "
"A very pleasant crossing"
A pleasant and clean boat, the structure were well adapted The material is a bit outdated and a lot of facilities are closed during low season The food is too expensive
"Journey to Sicily with my family"
Good Morning, This is the first time that I travelled to Sicily I took the ship Genoa/Palermo with my family, I found it very well organized, even though I booked the seats when we were on board I changed it with the cabin. It was really easy to do because of the staff who were so professional and helpful. we would make this trip again next year and we recommend it
" no thanks "
Although the ship has some features, but all were closed room quality the food is bad, bring everything only Luke warm and expensive, rather something with myself everything is dirty and filthy, the ship is in a poor state of maintenance, all rusted and dirty you're lucky if you can leave the ship again and is happy that you have reached the target with such a poorly-kept ship in part, the staff is rude The next time I prefer to drive the route by car no thanks Superba!!
"Family with 3 children ticket problem and cleanliness problem "
For the return trip I've booked for the whole family 2 suites. On the way everything worked perfectly. On the way back we did not receive a ticket for the youngest child, so that when boarding additional clarifications were needed. Since I the effective online voucher had it, I was allowed to return with all three kids for friendly but very specific negotiations. On the return journey a suite was very dirty. On the curtains stuck " whatever for a brown dirt ". The bed sheets on the pull out couch was smeared with blood. We immediately requests a clean bed sheets, this has worked, but it remains a pale aftertaste for the person who sleeps in this bed. With best regards Susanne Achermann
"relaxing "
.. "Introduce 800 kilometers without any stress - which is already worth what the ships make a well manicured and maintained impression The staff is friendly What bothered us: In Palermo, you stand a little lost because if you do not know you're with. his book still has to go to the billet switch. well hidden behind trees -. smooth you drive past him in Genoa de signs to the ferry port could be better.. Otherwise: Very laid back "
"But Not First Class OK "
We have now used the Palermo in October / Genoa Ferry. We have stayed in the sleeper chair. Would I recommend only to people who are not very sensitive. There are just already too many small children and are not always very quiet. the cleanliness we found now is not so good sleeper chair was very greasy, even the toilets I found on the armchair bed rooms not as clean as ever on other ferries. On the whole, everything was Ok you can stand it.
"Overrun with dogs unreasonable and too expensive "
I have to specify both booking that we travel with our dog. However, this did not show up in the cost calculation. We only received the message that dog with the crowds can be taken. On the ferry we had to solve, however, a dog-ticket and the dog locked up in a box or book a more expensive room, which meant 140 euro surcharge for a walk. Dog shall be present only in these special cabins and a small part of the deck, also they must not be left alone in the cabin. The dog owner you are a extremely restricted during the crossing.
"everything was great "
good organization of a check in and out, friendly staff, decent cabin, too little seats on deck (a shame as nice weather)
"good experience "
we were very happy with both trips. only at the roundtrip palermo-genoa ship the cabin was not cleaned well enough.
"Ferry Paloma to Genoa"
I have done this type of trip on many occasions. Facilities where more than adequate. We had our own tea bags and milk in cabin and staff were always happy to fill our flask with hot water. Staff were always helpful and good natured. Cabin. Here I was the most surprised. It was better than the cabins that I have had on cruise liners. Only down side of trip was having to leave the cabin two hours before dis embarking. I understand that they have to be cleaned before the return trip but a plan should be made.
"A pleasant crossing"
No complains for this first experience.
"Good crossing "
Set off with half an hour of delay of Palermo and arrived according to schedule an hour earlier. Super! The ship is old currently 11 years and the upper deck 8 (restaurants, bars, shop, etc.) looks like just a 11 year old cruise ship. The cabins are practical and the crossing (if the sea is calm), very pleasant. All in all, I would book it again.
"Come down ship "
The best thing about the ship was that it reasonably punctual dissipation in Genoa and arrived in Palermo. Otherwise the condition of the ship is absolutely bad. Almost all salons are locked, the food is up to the overpriced coffee at the bar almost inedible, the staff is bored, the ashtrays run over, the door handles are filthy, the toilets sometimes do not work, public toilets in the ship 2 hours before arrival shut off, etc., etc..
"Crossing Palermo - Genoa"
Unfortunately, the ferry had on arrival in Palermo delayed two hours, half an hour was obtained by unloading and loading at breakneck speed again. Hence was a delay of about 1.5 h upon arrival in Genoa. The cleanliness of the ship and in the cabin there were no defects. We had a nice big triple cabin for two people. Quality of food and service in the self-condition restaurant ok. It was an older ship (Grandi Navi Veloci -. Splendid MS BJ 1994), which facilities the ship is, therefore, a bit dated, but still quite ok. General remained a positive impression, we would not hesitate to go again with this ferry.
"A beautiful experience"
A very good formula to travel to Sicily with a vehicle and without a long drive through Italy. The signposting in Genoa for the boarding port is not very good. The manoeuvre of the truck is a show that keeps you entertain thoufh. I had booked tickets online for a decent price. However, when I went back to the booking sitre for other informations, I've noticed that the pricesvary a lot. Why? The installation in the cabin was very good and the journey was very pleasant. We recommend this mode of transport to travel to Sicily
"super ferry"
a great journey, quick, clean, confortable
"It was like a cruise ship"
the cabin were really well presented, we had live music, and the staff was really helpful.
"27 August trip"
The crossing was more than pleasant. The boat was nice and confortable. The staff of the board was helpful and friendly. I would recommend a cabin. The only problem was the attitude of the Tunisian custom agent, who spoilt the journey for the majority of the passengers with his rude words, gestures and attitude.
"Genoa Tunis crossing"
The staff on board is helpful and competent. The cabin is correct, but not clean (crumbs in the bedding, dirty door handles, toothpaste on the sink, sticky bathroom floor). The restaurant is clean and decent.
"Great ferry journey"
The ferry from Genoa to Tunis and vice versa, booked through Directferries, was a good move last summer. The procedures were clear, the journey excellent. The duration of the journey depends on the boarding procedures: the ship does not leave until everyone is on board. This meant that both our journeys took 18 hours instead of 24, but departure was 2 hours later than planned both times. The ship is great.
""
It's the third time we've been travelling aboard the Superbe and we have always been satisfied with our journeys (2X from Genoa to Palermo and once from Palermo to Genoa). I am partially disabled with my legs. My wife and I really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff to exit the boat. The waiter also helped me to carry the tray at the restaurant. The cabins are fantastic and well equiped (shower, toilets, beds, etc.)
""
The crossing was excellent, the boat was clean the whole time (it is rare). The only slight problems is the menu of the self which should be adapted to the clientele of the boat, and that the cost for wifi access is a bit too high.
"on time as per expectations"
I was happily surprised by my journey, the ferry was punctual, not crowded, the staff was really professional and the food was delicious. We arrived in Sicily in perfect conditions.
"A Tunis trip August 2013"
A journey aboard the superba towards Tunis. We booked a suite with our 3 year-old son. The staff at the restaurant was not friendly, except for the cashiers. The staff only speaks Italian. For a 1500 euros trip, either English or French would have been normal. Our suite wasn't clean! There was dust everywhere, the linen had holes. We couldn't change the settings of the AC et the TV was in Italian only. The shower head was broken. We had two towels for the shower - they didn't count our son. My husband complained at reception and was told that someone would come, but they didn't! We travelled with CTN last year and the journey was superb...A suite with separate bedrooms, restaurant in the evening with table service. The breakfast was 35 euros, whereas yours was 50 euros for self service for 2 adults and a kid. And the TV was broadcasting TV5 World!
"Would we do it again! "
A pleasant way to travel to Sicily. The cabin was immaculate and we arrived well rested. Just a shame that the staff is rather rude and arise at meal times as long queues. A better organization (eg a person more at the coffee machine!) This would easily prevent.
"No love for the boat"
We were very disappointed with our crossing. The cleanliness of the public areas left much to be desired: some showers only comprised a hosepipe and were leaking in the toilets. The toilets didn't have paper and weren't cleaned. The AC was so strong during the outbound journey that we couldn't sleep. During the inbound journey, there wasn't any AC at all! The majority of services were unavailable during our outbound trip: nightclub, swimming pool, gym... It is also unacceptable that we had to assemble 2 hours before arrival in a narrow space (half an hour would have largely suffice). The delays are not always announced. Everything is calculated to part you with as much money as possible. The food is overpriced and tasteless.
"Dissatisfaction"
Our outbound journey was 6 hours late. As a result, we decided to drive back and didn't use our return ticket.
"A good crossing"
Hi to thw whole crew. I am very happy with GNV and I stay loyal to them.
"Enjoyable Tunis to Genoa"
We enjoyed our trip very much. The cabin was excellent, in good condition and clean. The ship also is generally in very good shape and seems well-kept. That said, a minor thing: the pools were all 'out of order' during our trip. The staff said that 'Work is being done on them,' though to us, it looked as if they were simply closed as no one was doing anything with them. The main critique we have is regarding the lack of information on board. For instance, our arrival time in Genoa was early [as far as we understood from the planned arrival time when we bought the tickets], but we only learned of the arrival time a short time before we were required to be out of our cabin. So we were very rushed to pack and leave our cabin, but only because of the lack of information. The crew could easily have informed us when they showed us our cabin, or at another time. There were numerous other instances like this. We had to ask about most things on the ship as so little was made clear.
"Journey to tunisia"
A really nice trip ;-)
"The garage was difficult to access on La Superba"
We were in garage A and our room on deck 8, it was horrible to climb all those stairs with the luggages. The reception at the restaurant was horrid (noone was there to receive us). Therefore, we went to the self-service restaurant where we were almost thrown from, because of a football match - it was 10pm. No chairs on the deck.
"Good but not great"
GNV provides clean and functional cabins. However, if the plumbing or the pipework has a problem, a Filipino technician, who speaks neither English nor French nor Italian nor Arabic intervene and the problem is not always resolved right away. The food isn't a match for italian or tunisian cuisine. The staff is very pleasant if the boat is not too full. Otherwise, they can upset easily (and I can understand). The opening hours of the duty-free are too restrictive and it's difficult to find anything to eat or drink during the night. Although the cabins are clean, noone cleans the corridor during the crossing. Do those problems explain why the prices are cheaper than with other companies?
"Genoa Palerme"
I did several crossing with this company and the reception by the staff is always nice!
"Ferry Genoa Palermo & Returns "
We have opted for the ferry rather than land, as it means time technically the same time. Unfortunately, the embarkation took a long time and we had to repeatedly ask. Especially with the team you had the feeling of being unwanted, even though we have asked us in Italian. Overall service and friendliness were deficient. Are probably gone under any crossing. Absolutely necessary are cabins, otherwise it will be difficult on board. The first crossing was still very nice, despite the closed outdoor pools (only open from the end of June). Returned it was stormy. Well, that's just on the sea.
"Genoa-Palermo and Back "
The return trip from Palermo was unfortunately canceled at short notice, so I had to take the ferry to Naples ..... Cost of gasoline and highway were frightfully expensive.
"Grande navi veloce never again"
Very bad return journey experience. Bad signage to departure area, we were helped by someone who later turned out to be a beggar. Not many passengers, so time for large scale maintenance on deck: no seats, everything cordoned off, constant grinding noise. Irritated and bad service, bad and expensive food. Leaking shower causing the bathroom to flood. When technical staff arrived after a while they established that it wa caused by the rolling of the ship. After some urging it was finally repaired. On arrival notified to go to parking deck too late, again irritated staff which ordered us to reverse with caravan while this wasn't yet possible. In short: never again with this company.
"Mobile charges"
I would say that the ship and travel went very good, only downside the cost of incoming calls from your mobile phone, it is not clear that the cost to the recipient of the call is about 2 € per minute (how to call it), so if you do not wants to receive or turn off or do not answer. I would say it more clearly exposed in the notices!
"slowing "
thousand times more beautiful than to go by airplane in 2 h from A to B
"Fine, toilet disgusting"
The cleanliness of the toilet was not good, I consider it a primal thing in my opinion. I wonder GNV are aware of this, otherwise everything else is fine.
"Satisfied"
We were satisfied. Too bad that on the return trip on deck no chairs available.
"Replaced ship"
Travelled with a ship replaced certainly, not good for so long journey. Only one bar and ... nothing else. Restaurant expensive (I'm not complaining about the quality because it is rightly on a ship and not at the hotel). Air Conditioning too much strong. I asked for a plaid but I didn’t receive it. Bathrooms in the morning ... unusable.
"Impressions of a second crossing with grandi navi veloci (barcelona-porto-torres)"
We were very satisfied with the trip. The staff is very nice and the boat is confortable. However, the waiting times when boarding and disembarking are a bit tired, although they are mandatory.
"A trip to Sicily"
A good crossing, a nice crew.
"Palermo Gene with Grandi Navi Veloci"
The boat was clean. It left 3 hours late because of the weather. Note: you must leave your cabin 2 hours before arrival.
"Genoa-Palermo-Genoa Crossing"
Our departure was 11 hours delayed without any excuses or compensation, beacause of an accident in Genoa. We had to pay for an extra hotel night. The bar and the restaurant are awful (the staff is neither friendly or competent). The armchairs room was closed during the outbound journey, so people had to sleep in the restaurant room. The inbound journey was supposed to arrive at 7pm. We arrived at 7.15pm and disembarked at 8.90pm.
"My Review "
below-quoted
"Pleasant crossing"
Pleasant crossing, good service and comfortable.
"Good crossing and bicycle transport "
The trip was great fun. Maybe you should let enter bicyclists first or at the same time with passengers. I think that I really had to wait too long before I could enter the ship on the return trip. Kind regards
"Ok crossing"
Punctual and easy loading all vehicles, poor catering facilities, cleanliness was ok, uncomfortable Pullman seats.
"VERY BAD RECEPTION FOR DISABLED PEOPLE"
I've had an hip operation a When booking online as usual for a trip to Tunisia, I couldn't find anywhere to indicate that I had an handicap nd needed an adapted bed for disabled people (70 cm high). At the check-in in Genoa and Tunis, I was just asked to let the staff know. After I did, I ended up in cabins with beds which were either too low or too high. After a lot of negociations and a never ending wait I was forced to pay twice 67 euros of supplement to get an adapted cabin with a high bed and toilets for disabled people which is unacceptable considering the obligations of the company towards disabled passengers.
"Lovely crossing"
The crossing with GNV ferries from Genova to Palermo is a great start to a holiday. Checking, crossing, cabins, all lovely!
"Trip Gen-Pal GNV"
I travelled alone in one of the ferry, but I had my car with me and I used only the transit deck, I was really satisfied with the ship as was clean and organized. Good fun trip well worth the money. I have no reason to complain, but In order to improve the service I suggest that it would be good to have a place in less luxurious cabin, less expensive, maybe with multiple bunk beds. Or in alternative much more armchairs where the people have the opportunity to sit.
"Intercom announcement"
A lot of intercom announcements weren't translated into French, despite the fact that a lot of French people were on board
"Pleasant trip to Palermo"
The trip to Palermo was very pleasant. Cabin was nice and clean. My only complaint would be it takes very long to embark.
"My crossing"
All went well on the ferry.
"Lack of alternatives"
The ferry was two hours late. The inside cabin was ok, staying the night at the restaurant is not recommendable due to masses of people. The unfriendliness of the restaurant staff reminded me of a state-run company in former soviet times. All in all you don't have any alternatives, if you want to travel to Sicily with your car.
"Average"
Only speak Italian on board, no good if you don't speak Italian! Room was clean when we arrived either so had to get someone to come and have a look to sort out.
"Holiday started onboard!"
Boat is magnificent and more than just a ferry. Outside cabin was ideal for the 20 hour crossing and the bars had a nice atmosphere. Self service restaurant could be a bit better though.
"Grandiose navvies experience"
Very easy to book online. Ticket collection very straight forward. Good voyage and spacious cabin. Overall very satisfied.
