"Terrible! "
Toilets were not flushing, no water in the executive rooms. Getting out of the ship was more than two hours exercise. The worst experience . First time traveling with this ship and last. I usually travel twice a year but never like this.
"Would have been quicker to swim"
The ferry we booked was for 11pm they told us to check in at 7pm, at check in they told us it was delayed till midnight after waiting around all day we were a little disappointed. Returned at midnight to find there were further delays and queued for hours. Finally set off at 4am was absolutely knackered. Conserving we paid good money for the service it was very poorly organised.
"Great way to reach Albania, especially when combined with the night train from Milan"
Don't forget to go to the ticket office in Bari port to exchange your booking confirmation for the actual tickets (in case you don't have those yet). This took me 90 minutes (port bus + queing).
"Great trip "
Great trip, comfy bed, moving on time and helpful staff.
"surprisingly good"
very nice facilities and conditions. sad the wifi is not free
"Ferry crossing (Bari to Durres)"
Would not recommend using this ferry at this time of year. Ferry was approx. 4.5 hours late leaving. Organisation at Bari ferry terminal was virtually non-existent with no noticeboards/announcements to keep you informed and updated. When we finally got on the ferry we then had to dodge between the cars that were also going on.
"Great trip to Albania"
When we booked this trip I expected it to be a bit of hassle but in the end it was fine. The check in was a bit awkward as we UK drivers have a V5 while Italians have a log book and the lady at the desk was unfamiliar with this and asked us to wait for a more experienced colleague, who duels came when she was supposed to and checked us in no problem. The boarding was the usual Italian comedy caper and we were suitably delayed and left around 1am which was fine. The cabin had a shower which worked well and allowed us to cool off before a few hours of sleep then up with the announcements at 7, docked by 10 and a very straightforward customs experience in Albania. All in all not too bad at all.
"Cabin Fuel fumes, water drains"
Cabin 6024/hallway area, unhealthy fumes all night, Inside the cabin, exhaust fumes, water drains smelled Eventually after many hours, relocated to the 8th level. 8 level, no fumes, good conditions We had a bad experience, the front desk people did not take us serious This area on the 6th level is a serious health hazard We want to be fully reimbursed for our travel on the boat Robert Moyse
"Fuel Toxic door, sewage drain in the shower gave off toxic odor"
Room number 6024 very toxic with Fuel odor all night, also in the hallway. The bathroom drain gave off an toxic spell/odor as well Very unhealthy and bad for your health. We eventually changed rooms to room 7017 by the morning, after spending most the night in room 6024 This is a health concern and needs to be addressed I would appreciate a full reimbursement of my ticket E124.00 Concerned Customer Robert Moyse
"Great trip. No problems (save chaotic boarding!)"
The crossing was unproblematic. Our cabin was pretty clean and comfy and we all slept well. Staff on board were friendly and helpful. We were delayed by around 30 mins. The first part of check in was fine. Waiting at the embarkation office for passport checks was chaotic and a bit unnerving as there were no staff there. We would go again.
"Great time"
The ship is a bit dated but it actually is a good thing - for 12 hours or so we got transported to a that great tine way back when everyone travelled by car and this ferry ride was a pinnacle of the experience. Quite luxurious, even if if dated (which, again, is a great experience)
"Good trip"
Good trip - had a cabin for 2 but was on my own - great!
"Comfortable transport"
It was a bit difficult finding Check-In and it would be a good idea to get a complete GPS address on the ticket or on your website. The staff from beginning to end of the trip were friendly and service-minded. Our 2 berth outside cabin was nice, with ensuite bathroom, the beds were made and there were clean towels. Due to the time of year (last October) the ferry was not very full, and this reflected on the lack of catering. However, we were very satisfied and and had a pleasant sailing between Palermo and Naples.
"thoughts about Palermi-Napoli"
The journey was as we expected. Comfortable cabin, and good services on board. We want to repet this experience especially because is a comfortable way to travel from one city to another at night so you can rest and enjoy the day once you arrive to your destination.
"Slow down air conditioner!"
In general we travelled very good. Only note - air conditioner inside the ship is really too strong. It's too cold to say it was a comfortable journey.
"So and so"
Excellent riceiving, restaurant service, cleaning, kindness of the staff and respect for the schedule time. Negative aspects, caos at night total anarchy no one respect the established seats, owner of dogs don't respect the rules, dogs with no muzzle walking on the deck, and instead of keep them in the kennels they were sleeping in the common area with us. Staff shoul be more vigilant, same for the landing where you only find caos and confusion, 100 of people left in the stairs and corridors.
"Cabins on offer"
As resident I often travel with GNV. This year I appreciated the initiative to offer the cabin at a affordable price. It is an excellent way to facilitating the customers using the ship potential, good.
"well travelled"
We were fine....
"Too hot"
Apart from the expensive prices at the restaurant.... The return journey was an hell, too hot, the air conditione was not working. The staff did not help.
"All good as always"
The boarding was in advance and it was a good thing because it was so hot! Same quality and kindness with GNV. Expensive prices, for tickets and food, but it is known.
"Genova-Porto Torres June2015"
Adequate service.
"Tuscany"
Excellent the staff on board, medium level of cleaning, really slow ship.
"Genova-Porto Torres"
comfortable trip, clean cabin, amazing entertainment for the evening with music, nice staff. Can't wait to travel again
"Grandi Navi Veloci....no SNAV"
Departure from Genova to Porto Torres at 20.30, easy boarding and good cabin. Great! Air conditiong too strong. Unfortunately the staff working at the restaurant wasn't nice at all.
"to be renewed"
cabin and toilet very old fashion, it needs to be renewed
"Recommendable"
After our last crossing in 2013, we decided to travel with the same company from Sicily to Genoa in June. The restaurant was closed during the sailing, the swimming pool on board was empty and quite dirty, just like everywhere on board. We were quite sceptical about making another booking for July from Genoa to Sardinia and Grandi Navi Veloci offered the cheapest crossings. To our great surprise, the ship Toscana (a former ferry from Scandinavia and quite old) proved to be nice with several excellent restaurants, entertainment and bars on board. All this at very reasonable prices. Good service from motivated staff. The 4 berth cabin was quite small and the air conditioning went off at night but this did not spoil the fun. Disembarkation was somewhat later than planned but this wasn’t a problem because we were well-rested. De return trip with Tirrenia on the other hand was just the opposite.
"Nice journey"
I sailed with M/S Snav Toscana between Sardinia and Italy. The ship was nice and of good standards. Good food in the restaurant. Very friendly staff on board. The cabin was clean. I would love to travel again with the M/S Snav Toscana again.
"Naples/Palermo and back"
Apart from a poor and disorganised embarkation procedure, it was like a mini cruise in both directions and highly recommended.
"Review"
Our experience on the ship was very pleasant until we departed which is outside of the control of the ship or company as there was VERY rough seas that night. Neither my husband or I slept at all as we were really rolling around in large swells & it made it nearly impossible to fall asleep. Outside of that, we had a fairly pleasant experience. We boarded & went straight to our cabin which was in pretty good shape with the exception of a bad smell. Almost like lingering cigarette smoke - assuming the room used to be a smoking room. We decided to grab a bit to eat at the sit-down restaurant & we were pleasantly surprised to see that the restaurant was well maintained & kept. We had a lovely server who was quite attentive & were incredibly happy with our meals! My husband had a pizza that was delicious (and large!) and I had an amazing fish baked with mussels & clams in foil. Was a wonderful surprise as we did not expect to have such great food on a ship. We purchased wine after our meal & sat in a common area & enjoyed the bottle. We were disappointed to learn that the wi-fi on the ship was not working which would have been a major plus during our travels but regardless we enjoyed the evening chatting.
"A crossing between Genoa and Porto Torres"
Everything went well.
"Porto Torres - Genoa - without cab = disaster "
Night ride Porto Torres -. Genoa We had booked Pullman armchairs, as a 2-cabin approx € 400, -. Would have cost total time 16.5 hrs. 13.5 hrs drive + 2 hour check-in + 1! ., 0 hours check-out the outward journey was completely relaxed also treated via Livorno-Olbia with travel time from Karlsruhe in 16 hours and the car was it significantly more comfortable Pullman armchairs were a disaster (!) -., the tilt possibility the backrest was about 5 cm There was little alternative options for sitting or lying down, and they were after check-in already all occupied Furthermore, the air conditioning was too cold set -... Feels 18-19 degrees Sleep was out of the question - we have trembled us at least a little warm the food offered was OK so far, not particularly appealing but cheap for the ferry -., the price-performance ratio was okay. So if anyone should think of these possibility of travelling to or from Sardinia, take only with cabin by reference to appropriate additional cost, or sleeping bag and mat that you can spend the night on the floor or on deck in an emergency. For further arrival is recommended to prefer to go to Livorno, to spend the night in the hotel and then by day-ferry in 6.5 hours (8:00 to 14:30 Mobylines) ferry to Olbia.
"Crossing Sardinia - Genoa "
A relatively old but clean ship, the cabins according to age but clean. The food prices and drink prices were a bit excessive, since a monopoly shamelessly exploited. The quality of the food again was acceptable on the whole.
"relaxed crossing to Sardninien "
The night crossing is highly recommended for motorists, because we got a good night's sleep and were able to enjoy our vacation from day one. It is desirable to output the room door opener (card) at check-in. After the deterrent return by Tirrenia we can only the organization and personnel of the Grandi Navi praise - never again Tirrenia !
"Crossing Genoa - Porto Torres "
Clean, nice ferry. Quiet night crossing in 2 person cabin. Restaurant recommended. Good and cheap food. A la carte items. The ferry is recommended.
"Staff need to be trained and toilets need to be functional."
Without taking in account the extra h2 trip comparing to the other ferries (grandi navi veloci) we decided to travel with SNAV. Despite the fare was very high, we saved €100 because we choose to travel during the week. The staff on board was very polite. But i have 2 things to say: First of all the staff doesn't have any idea on how to coordinate the parking on the ferry. The second thing is that, in the morning, before departure, the toilets are in terrible conditions.
"Genoa - Porto Torres crossing"
The main difficulty was to… board the ferry: in Genoa, you have to find the ticket office and a parking spot. The ticket office is at the Shop Centre. If you show at the boarding gate without a ticket, you can park temporarily and walk to the Shop Centre. The problem in Porto Torres is to find the boat. You can see it, but several ponds are between you. Other companies signposted the way to their dock, but Grandi Navi Veloci didn't. On board, you can witness the ballet of the cars, which go through no-through roads and execute a U-turn before finding the right dock!
"next year "
Ship is very clean, staff very friendly, there was also no problems when loading but is recommended to be prepared warm clothing to keep because the air conditioning is set at night very cold. Otherwise happy again everything ok
"Holiday"
Quiet trip and ferry on time.
"Everything ok"
The trip went well. I just don't understand the difference in between the seat and cabin price. I think fares should be revised to encourage tourism in Sardinia, which is a beautiful place.
"Incomplete information"
It is very unclear where to check in on departure in Genoa because the email confirmation from DirectFerries does not state an address. (In hindsight this would only be a problem the first time you depart from there since all ships leave from a central port). When we were queueing for the return journey the "boat police" stopped us because our paperwork was apparently not in order. We were directed to some office in Porto Torres. Once again we lacked some information and an address. Food on board was outright disgusting. Other than that the journey was pleasurable and everything was clean and well cared for.
"smooth travel "
Everything has worked out fine, straightforward and reliable. Cabin was very clean, also the other toilets. Confusing is the numbering of the parking decks. Same parking space number exists more than once! Yourself do not forget this staircase exactly the parking space number alone does not help. Food and service fine. Negative: Extremely many dogs on the deck, you have to watch That First Step! The top deck should be closed to dogs.
"Trip Genua - Porto Torres (Sardinia) v.v."
This wasn't the first time we made this journey and it will most definitely not be our last. It was very enjoyable, staff is very helpful when taking the car on board. The caravan is spun around and coupled back onto the car before disembarking. Friendly staff everywhere. However, we arrived in Genoa 5 hours before boarding and parking spaces are very scarce. Perhaps something can be done about that. The cabin was tidy and contained beds, made, shower and toilet. Unfortunately the shower did not drain properly which caused our feet to get every time we went to the toilet (luckily clean water though).
"GNV return"
Nothing to say, except that there were dogs everywhere.
"On the way to paradise and back ... "
On the way to paradise we did not miss anything! The ship is in a seemingly great condition. Meals in the various restaurants and bars is varied and good. Only the prices, compared to the Italian mainland are a bit too high. What really want to be left is the state of the toilets! Neither on the outward waynore on the wy back did the gentlemen toilets properly functioning. Towards the end of every ride you could practically no more toilet use because clogged or out of service. Very Needs improvement! Otherwise Top
"Ferry Genoa - Porto Torres "
The loudspeaker announcements were much too loud and not to understand, the staff spoke and understood little English. Ventilation in head and lamp is broken on a bed.
"trip to sardinia"
The trip with SNAV has been nice, the ferry was on time and the staff on board kind and helpful. However, if the ferries prices will continue to be so high (i paid more than the stay for 15 days) we'll be forced to choose a different destination for our holidays
"Night crossing from Genova to Porto Torres"
it's been a pleasant trip, excellent entertainment at the bar with music and ballroom. Thanks
"Return trip Genova-Porto Torres july 2013"
I've travelled with my husband and two daughters with Grandi Navi Veloci "TOSCANA". Very big, very clean (also the toilets), great choice for breakfast (quite expensive though), good entertainment during the crossing (TV room, live music). Excellent idea to have a bar on deck, wind screens and lots of picnic tables! Negative side: when I booked the ticket i couldn't select deck places; the minimum accommodation was sleeping chair (in my case I had to pay for 4 chairs on both ways even though we didn't use them)!
"Crossing Sardinia"
Restaurants and bar on board are very expensive. The cabin was fine and the rest of the ship was fine as well. Tip: bring your own food an drink.
"A crossing between Genoa and Porto Torres"
A very pleasant journey aboard a well equiped boat. We'd like the same service for other destinations departing from Italy!
"assessment "
We were very pleased. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cabin was fine.
"Comfortable Travel "
Older ship, but well maintained. The staff is very friendly. What we loved: that the Embarkation begins before departure for over two hours and the port of destination is only reached at 10 clock in the morning. This gives time to comfortably enjoy your dinner in the very good restaurant and sleep off a bit.
"Average. Can do better"
A complicated boarding in Porto, internet tickets are not accepted at the entrance of the boat. They need to be validated at the ferry terminal, 1 kilometer away. Plus, it is difficult to find. We couldn't find the pullmann seats we'd booked, because the doors of the cabins they were in were locked. When we informed the reception (going down 4 floors), we were told they couldn't help us, because there were free seats everywhere. We were also told that the wifi was not available, despite a poster saying otherwise. Still, it was a beautiful sea.
"was just a ferry ride "
The ship is large and old. Meets everything you need. No excessive luxury and not a very helpful professional staff. If you do not have high expectations and want to simply cross, it's ok., The size of the ship helps that it runs very quiet. The loading was very chaotic because the Persaonal seemed inexperienced. Note: in Porto Torres must be getting into the Maritime Statione to get a ticket, if you only have an online booking. The suburb Support GNV speaks only Italian and chunks of English. This can be forgotten.
"SNAV Hosipitality"
The review is about SNAV which looks like they belong to Grandi Navi Veloci. This is the first time we went with SNAV. We've been travelling this route several times with different operators like GNV, MOBY, TIRRENIA. SNAV was so far the nicest one with excellent staff, no stress, information on english etc etc. Absolutely loved it.
"Ferry trip"
I've travelled in the seats lounge. The trip went well except for the sea conditions on the outbound and the chilling air conditioning
"Journey"
We were really happy for the kindness and courtesy of the members of the staff. Excellent cleaning service of the cabin. I recommend it
"Ferry to Sardinia"
We found the crossing to be really good in both directions.
"A sleepless crossing"
The trip was very good. However, you are not provided with the location of the cabins when booking. I ended up in the basement near the machines. No need to tell you about the noise, the smell of gas and the heat. 120€ is a bit expensive to not be able to sleep. The company should let us choose our cabin.
"Great ship"
It 'a ship, great, but not as fast!
"Great trip"
Ship clean and in excellent condition, competent and friendly staff, the food in the self service restaurant with good quality, we only had to heat the food with the microwave. The coffee was good too. In the outbound crossing we paid 5€ for the breakfast and they served tea as hot drink, in return route after you paid, the staff at the bar refused to serve us tea, because they said that the breakfast includes only coffee and cappuccino.
"Overnight from Palermo to Naples 14th May 2013 "
I enjoyed the journey including the restful sleep between ports. The cabin was clean, the washing facilities well maintained. I opted to take my meal in the restaurant rather than the buffet. The service was adequate with menu choice limited. Breakfast was chaotic, with queues forming, the staff totally unconcerned and at times very unhelpful. My main concern however was in the Bar/cafe. During the evening at least two passengers were openly smoking cigarettes. At least two of the staff noticed this but no action was taken.
"Very good ferry"
The ferry was very good but i would say it did lack a little entertainment.
"Crossing Naples to Palermo and back"
Just as we had hoped it all worked out great. From check in up to the ship docked, all the staff are very accommodating when you are keeping to the rules.
"Palermo to Naples overnight"
Booked from Australia, once difficulty with with credit card payment was sorted out confirmation came promptly. The ferry provided us with a means to travel from Palermo to Naples over night, bed linen etc was clean. Chairs in leisure areas could do with being cleaned. Overall an ok experience.
