" Never again"
I was not allowed to board the ferry, I had a PCR test result but a big fat guy with a pistol and a bad attitude to the British said I could not board because I have not had the vaccine. 70 years ago he would be wearing a brown shirt
"Chaotic"
We usually use Brittany Ferries to travel from Santander to Plymouth UK and GNV could learn a lot from their professionalism. It would have been helpful if Direct Ferries had given us some directions for the ferry port terminal to use at the port. Ourselves and at least 4 other families were waiting at the wrong terminal. We had our car so but the others had arrived in taxis and had to walk in 36degrees heat to the correct terminal. Once we were there the girl at the check in told us the wrong garage number to go to. The ferry was delayed and changed from the Majestic to the Fantastic which we were informed about. However there was nothing fantastic about it. In the garage to park the car there were staff smoking!! There were people sleeping in the corridors and at the top old stairs. There were children running riot all over the place with no supervision at all. At one point an announcement was made but it didn’t change anything. Our cabin was clean and comfortable but we were woke up at 6.30/7am by the loud speaker in our room and told to vacate our rooms that we had paid for by 9.30 even though we weren’t due to dock until 12.30 so everyone was milling around for 3 hours with nothing to do. The children we even more manic than the day before. Passengers were lying on the floors, sitting on suitcases or on the stairs, it was chaos! As we were waiting for so long I had to use the public toilets and they smelt disgusting and were filthy. We had an evening meal in the Al a carte restaurant but had to wait an age to get served although an officer who came in after us was served immediately. The food when it arrived was good.I’m afraid we would not use this company again .
"Barcellona - Genova GNV Fantastic"
Departure initially planned for 11pm Sunday, postponed to 2.45 am Monday but we have been informed weeks in advance so all fine. Check-in was due to open at 22.45 on Monday, only opened at 24, therefore 6 hours waiting at the port (not even a bottle of water provided), finally onboarded at 4.30 AM Monday, ship left at 5.15 am. Landed at Genova 00.30 Tuesday night in Genova. Ship very dirty at the end, due to people very unpolite of course, but staff should also check on it. Food was awful.
"Very little customer information provided."
No signs indicating where to go or what to at the Genoa terminal.. No indication as to when and how to board ship. No signs on board advising restaurant opening hours.. A general lack of customer information.
"il tempo"
Inesattezza nell'orario di partenza e di arrivo.... Partenza ritardata tra Tunisi e Civitavecchia 3 ore Stessa cosa al Partenza da Civitavecchia
"Not what it says on the tin"
The “cruise” ferry was run down to the point that it was scary. Cigarette butt marks on the wash basin, an engine that was rattling so much that the laptop screen was shaking and sleep was near impossible. No Wi-Fi, so much for plans to work during the 20 hours of gloom. Deck so salty that it was dangerous to walk. Announcements yelled at 4am in the morning. 95% of staff running around in boiler suits with tools in hand. Smoking indoors around the casino. Ferry was 6 hours late, so had to wait in line to get on and off from 1-3am on two consecutive mornings. Avoid at all cost. Better drive! Or watch a doomsday movie, at least you can switch that one off.
"All well"
No problems at all. Arrived, was given the key for my cabin, travelled to the destination and got off! The cabin was fine, although a couple of things not working (the in cabin radio control, but I don’t know if there was even anything to listen to!) or open (it’s January!). Otherwise all fine, friendly crew, clean ship. The food is expensive, so it’s worth getting the food vouchers as you end up paying a bit less
"Misguided and lost"
We were told that the ferry would go to Palermo, so we booked a hotel there for the evening we were to arrive. It was not made clear that the terminal was 40 km from Palermo. We thought that Imerese was just the name of the terminal, like, for example Terminal 1, 2 or 3. We were given no help as to where we were to walk when we got off the ship, so walked for about 20 minutes next to the perimeter fence, looking for a way out. No one helped us. The staff on the ship had no idea if there was a bus at the terminal or where we could get a taxi. We did not know where we were until a local person, at about midnight, told us that we were not in Palermo and very kindly drove us to a hotel. So we had to pay twice for that night's stay, as our reserved hotel, in Palermo could not refund our money. We were very disappointed, on the ship, to have no television signal, in our room, and to find that the library and card rooms were closed. Our cabin was very nice, but did not have a kettle or hot drink facilities. We will not travel that way again; it is too dangerous, when leaving the ship.
"We brought food thankfully"
After our last experience we avoided long queues to self service and bad food. However we did not avoid the rude cleaning staff telling us to get packed and out of our rooms wearing a face mask of all things!
"A very pleasant journey."
Having read some terrible reviews of the ferry trip from Genoa to Barcelona we were pleasantly surprised. The check-in went well and we got onto the ship easily, after having booked food(dinner and breakfast) in the self-service for 18€ each. Our 3 berth cabin (for2)was very large, comfortable and clean(except for the top of the sink) and the shower was good. The ship left on time and the cafeteria opened at 7.30 for dinner, which was of the school dinner style but perfectly acceptable. The crossing was very smooth and we had an excellent sleep waking up for breakfast -done in a similar style to dinner. The ship arrived at noon as they had predicted, and although there were no taxis at the terminal gate they stopped on request on the round outside.
"Dont count on comfort"
We knew there would be limited space to bed down, but we hadnt foreseen that there would be screaming babies and young boys who had the big screen tv on all night long. Perhaps you could set up one of the rooms for adults only to help us older folks. Also since the sailing was pretty full there was a shortage of plastic chairs to sit outside. Also the men totally trash the restrooms with all their foot washing making it impossible for the maintainence crew to keep it usable. We tried one of the specialty dining areas and the food quality was positively awful. The final straw was the arrival at the New Port which is far away from the city and an expensive cab ride into the city. Sadly we will have to find an alternate means of travel if we should ever visit Tangier again. P.S. Direct Ferries misrepresented that we must arrive at the port 4 hours before the cruise which caused us to spend hours of unnecessary time sitting outside a closed office and then waiting inside while many were arriving only minutes before the sailing with no problem.
"Genoa to Barcelona"
Punctual arrival into Barcelona after a smooth journey. Trying to get on the ship as a foot passenger was a little difficult (more down to Genoa ferry terminal) as I was sent this way and that way, and upstairs and downstairs with my bag. Cabins are small but everyone has a bed - probably more enjoyable to stay in a cabin as a family / friends rather than with strangers so personal space is less of an issue. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food OK, wish I brought more of my own on board.
"Not a good experience - transport with no delight."
Arrival at the Port- Use sat nav to get to the address given and the entrance is impossible to find and the road signs are dreadful. Checking in- Shambolic, confusing, filthy and depressing. Waiting to load - Tedious, no information, filthy, dis-organised. Loading - Had to reverse up a steep loading ramp into a dark hold on to the instruction of 3 or 4 people shouting conflicting instructions and blowing whistles simultaneously - unbelievable! Condition of Ferry -Seen better days, things look quite nice from a distance but get a bit closer and everything is run down. On board - Everybody is helpful and friendly but nobody can speak English. There is a dreadful unintelligible speaker system bleating out messages every 10-15 minutes, some of which are in English but I never understood one. Passengers for Tangiers are sleeping on the floor in many corridors. The pool and spa have no water in them. Food - Went to the most expensive restaurant for our evening meal, were not offered bread although others were, were not served the water we ordered and ate our food because we were hungry, not because we enjoyed it. Breakfast in the self service was worse, no plates available and had to use paper serviettes on trays with an extremely limited choice available. Cabin- This was ok if slightly shabby with no remote for the TV. The bed was comfortable, the temperature was just right and we enjoyed a really good night of sleep. Staff- Everybody, except the head waiter in the best restaurant, was extremely and genuinely friendly. Overall - Avoid it if you can, we survived the trip, we arrived where we were meant to and when we were meant to but we would not use this service again unless there were no better alternative - I would much prefer to drive the whole way.
"Barcelona to Genoa with Grandi Navi Veloci Not Fantastic"
This boat had come from Tangiers so was very full and late leaving Barcelona. ( I am told that it was a security issue?) So we had to wait nearly 2 hours in the midday sun 39C on the key. Th result was I had to Lie down to cool off for 30 minutes. At 2.30 I searched for lunch and was told it over and the doors closed This after the boat was over an hour late loading. I.e. no allowance had been made for the new boading passengers. I did look around the door but the smell of burnt fat and noise was reminiscent of a cheap American fast food dinner! We did get some sandwiches on the upper deck near the pool. In the evening I looked in self service restaurant but there was long quires and fatty smells so I went to the waiter service and had a nice meal but on presenting my voucher was told it was not valid in this restaurant. I was then accosted by two young men to pay up to pay up and given a piece of paper to say my voucher were not valid. I paid up and at breakfast due to the long quires we got coffee at a bar but there were no rolls. You advertised savings to buy voucher but unlike all other European ferries you did not allow this to be use against the other restaurants. This year alone we have traveled on Zeeburg to Hull Newhaven to Dieppe Barcelona to Genoa and Ancona to Igametsa ( where we had a free meal due to the 2 hour delay ) (WE are both nearly 80years old) .
"Grande Navi Veloci Ferry Tanger to Barcelone"
Not a reliable service provider. Often late and sometimes cancels sailings at last minute. Expensive but you have no other option if you want to take car.
"An Experience"
All in all it wasn’t too bad. There was a limited option for food or two restaurants, and it was inconvenient that restaurants didn’t open until 7:30/8pm. The ship signs needed to be updated, we wandered around looking for things that actually were no longer there. The journey onto the boat was ridiculous. We had no car and therefore were walking. We recieved no information for where or how to get onto the ferry. When we finally managed it after contacting the company we were sent on a wild goose chase by security in a massive circle around the cars because apparently it was unsafe to cross. The direction he sent us actually meant we had to cross cars for abit of a laugh, but we were unable to say anything back to him as we did not speak strong enough Italian so maybe learn some key words before walking.
"Utterly disorganised "
Poor information re boarding, very long wait in a queue once we worked out how to get through the port, ( 6 hours) 4 hours late actually sailing so missed dinner. The cabin was good but the food was poor . No comparison with DFDS who we sailed England to France with 2 weeks earlier.
"Confusing & Stressful"
Very easy to book through Direct Ferries but lack of information and signposts to the correct port lead to to a very stressful end to our journey. Once we found the port we then had to find where we could obtain our ticket. Again no information or signposts. The office turned out to be up three floors via a supermarket! We ended up running in various wrong directions before we found the office - who would have thought it would be in a supermarket! Thank goodness we were reasonably fit. A little information from Diect Ferries and signposting in Genoa and at the the port would have made the experience so much easier.
"Fantastic! Unfortunately Not."
Do not choose to use a Pullman seat as the room was cold. Our allocated seats had been taken by people who wanted to sleep across 4 or 5 seats. My wife was the only female in our allocated room. Staff non existent. Ship grubby. Very overpriced. Punctuality was good.
"Genoa to Barcelona "
We took the ferry after our road trip around Italy, we booked it on line and didn't have the bit of paper required to enter the port you need to go and find the ticket office which is on the top floor of the shopping centre which is not well sigh posted once inside you park up with other ferry car going to other places and it not very clear and no one seemed to have a clue were to go, then when its time to load you have little man with big whistle running round screaming at everybody quite amusing, the cabin was ok clean and the shower was good the self service restaurant is only open for a certain time and I have never seen a queue as long to get your food so we went into the main restaurant the meal was good but a little pricey for what you got and finally the time it took to do the crossing it said on the web site arrive 13.30 but we got there at 11.45 I don't know how they got that wrong !!!
"A good way to visit Sicily"
I used the ferry at the end of a trip to Palermo to get back to Naples for a day's sightseeing and to connect to my flight home (Naples has lots more flights than Sicily). The ferry is cheap and comfortable and the crew do a good job. I enjoyed sailing out of Palermo and into Naples - an old-fashioned pleasure of travelling slowly and seeing the places take shape. I was fortunate in sharing a four-berth cabin with just one, very pleasant passenger and the cabin, including shower was great. I would happily use the ferry again when travelling in Italy. I would probably not, next time prepay a meal package (although this is probably the cheapest option), as the dinner is self-service and the choice and quality are not great. There are two or three places to eat on board and I would be inclined to make a decision on the day.
"Good schip"
It was a good experience. I want to travel again next year. Recommended.
"Trip Palermo-Civitavecchia with a car"
High quality service. The organisation on board was good. The vehicle boarding should be improve (h2 prior departure). The disembark was quick.
"Observations"
The ferry Suprema offer a better assistence. I suggest to be on time with the departure, otherwise the trip is endless
"Trip"
Perfet trip, cosy ferry
"genova-palermo and return"
friendly staff, clean ship
"my opinion"
I travelled with Fantastic and Suprema, great trip and comfortable cabin but the boarding time is slow
"on time"
Genova-Palermo and return with the ship Fantastic with 7 hours of delay. Never again
"strengths and weaknesses"
good service but the departure was 3 hours late from Palermo to Genova. I know that is not your fault.
"trip Civitavecchia-palermo Termini Imerese"
outbound crossing perfect. The return has been cancelled from the operator due to a technical problem. I could choose to travel 6 hours before, to travel with deck space and not reserved seat or to travel from Palermo to Napoli. Good customer service.
"Late arrival, late departure"
Ship was OK but arrived 2 hours late in Palermo. No effort by the crew to turn the ship around quickly, so by the time we got to Genoa we were almost 3 hours overdue. Missed my ongoing train connection and couldn't even claim for compensation - it has to be 3hrs or over late. 2hrs 45min doesn't count, apparently. By comparison, the Tirennia ferry was bang on time.
"sicily"
great trip
"with my family on holiday"
good
"my trip for Sicily"
all good, friendly staff. Great experience. See you next time
"Genova to Palermo"
For a 21 hour trip the restaurants were only open for a tiny proportion of it. So availability of proper food was pretty bad. The food served on boarding the ship was cold, but tasted ok. I would have paid for a waiter served restaurant. The photo shoot on entry to the ship gave the impression it was a cruise ship instead of a ferry. Not amused. Why not stick to the kids when you are doing it. Being forced to listen to overly loud and poor entertainment for the last two hours in the lounge once we had to vacate the cabin was extremely stressful and irritating.
"Trip Palermo/Genova"
I travelled on the 22 from Palermo to Genova with GNV. All good but the ship is too busy, people everywhere sleeping and eating on the floor. Good self service restaurant but expensive, departure on time. Recommended
"all perfect"
comfortable trip, all good. Prices a bit expensive
"trip with GNV"
all perfect even if the departure as been changed for the day before.
"trip paermo-civitavecchia"
good trip, friendly staff, the arrival about 1 hour earlier
"my experience"
I travelled with Fantastic on the 18/07 from Genova to Palermo. Outbound on time but th ereturn with 9 hours and a half late.
"trip Civitavecchia-palermo "
nice staff, all good
"trip palermo civitavecchia-palermo 10.8.2014"
unfortunately the cabin was very dirty, we found dirty towels in the toilets too. We reported the situation at the reception and they apoligized and cleaned everything. But also carpet and window were dirty and old.
"better to void the weekend"
all perfect but next time I'll try to don't travel during the weekend because the ship was very busy.
"as usual"
Unfortunately the situation on the ship reflects exactly the Italian economy: rare staff so bad service on board. We booked for a cabin and we found dirty sheets, no towels, dirty sink, dirty shower. Bad quality of the food at the restaurant even if expensive: a cold lemon tea 33cl €3,00. A good managment should improve the service on board and has to offer more. Grimaldi, think about that
"a trip turned into an holiday"
comfortable and friendly ship. The crossing Genova-Palermo turned into a short holiday for us. Happy time on board, entartainment for children and adults.
"damage"
the trip was good. But I think that a sailor, after we discussed for the parking position, he scratched my ar. But I'm not sure. Be aware. Best Regards
"Ferry crossing Genoa - Palermo"
The ferry from Genoa to Palermo was relaxing. We booked a 2 berth cabin. Check-in and boarding was a bit hectic but if you remain calm, it’s a piece of cake, especially if drivers with a caravan or trailer have the necessary driving experience ;). The stay on board the Fantastic was OK. If for our next trip we can take an additional 4 days, then we will definitely be travelling again!
"trip Civitavecchia-palermo Termini Imerese"
all good: on time, clean. Staff training should be improved in my opinion
"Not enough seats and sunbeds outside"
Neat ship. The only negative thing is that there are not many seats and sunbeds on board. We took our own folding chairs which I recommend everyone else should do. Free WiFi would also nice. This should also be possible for this price.
"Calm crossing"
We had an excellent crossing to Palermo. The ship was very comfortable, the cabin clean and spacious with a good view of the sea. Facilities on board were good though my wife thought that the shop was somewhat lacking. The staff were very polite. My only criticism was the time taken to load the cars and to unload them again. It was no doubt due to the layout of the ship which is not only for passengers but also for containers. A two and a half hour wait was a little too long .
"My opinion"
The crossing was pleasant, the staff in Palermo gave proper information. It's a shame about the confusion at arrival (unaudible messages, even in English). Why not using information boards? The food is ordinary.
"quality of the service"
In order to appreciate the general quality of the service, I recommend to the staff at the self-service restaurant to be more polite when a client ask something regarding the quality of the meal (especially as the price aren’t low).
"Catering"
The catering was deficient, the choice was poor and the quantities were small. The prices are high in comparison to what's on offer (both in the self restaurant and in the restaurant). Moreover, you should adapt the opening times of the restaurant according to the time of boarding.
"a Genoa Parlermo crossing"
The was a pleasant, quick and clean crossing. There was no problem to transport the car. I recommend it.
"Unexpectedly good experience"
A very enjoyable trip spoilt by dirty sheets on my bed. Very comfortable suite going. Comfortable, but dirty sheeted cabin, coming back. Restaurant on top deck very disappointing, food mediocre and expensive. Staff uncooperative. Service poor. Not what one would expect from Italian waiters.. Plenty of good seating accommodation in main lounge. Wonderful coffee. Loading very efficient and well organised.
"a good crossing"
No comment, except that we didn't know where we were parked. There may be a language problem as well.
"mixed feelings"
The inbound crossing was pleasant, but we were disappointed during the return crossing, as we didn't have the same boat and the prestation were not as good as aboard the first.
"a trip from Tanger to Barcelona with a departure on the 19th of May"
I am very satisfied with the journey between Tanger Med and Barcelona. Everything aboard the boat was good. My only complain is that the disembarkment was long and disorganised.
"All good "
At the beginning I was happy with everything. The cabin was clean and there were no other passengers in it. But for four men it would have been too small because the bathroom/shower takes up most of the space in the cabin. The food in the café was nice and good quality. Reasonable price. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that they told us we would arrive at 7.30 to Geneva and by 7 they told us to leave the cabin and go to the deck, where we waited with out bags for more than an hour.
"bon voyage"
I was quite satisfied the cabin which was very well located and clean, the crossing was perfect, only problem was that the food wasn't so good.
"embarking Palermo/Tunis and return"
Had a very relaxing and pleasant journey, it was our first experience, the only negative aspect was the delays in the embarking/disembarking procedures…
"Lack of tobacco"
Peaceful experience, there were a lot of amenities onboard but shame that they didn't sell cigarettes in the shop.
"Some issues, but it worked"
- The cabin we got was nice. Large comfortable bed, good bathroom. Really nice. - The voyage was very smooth and quiet. - Not much in the way of services. Only one dining place was open at night for a while. Bar never opened. Only a couple of cafe's open in the AM, and none with hot food. - Ferry was three hours late. It took them five hours to load it, but it only arrived two hours before departure time. The entire loading process was torture. We did not have a car, so once they opened the gate to the pier it was a really long walk, then had to stand in line in a very stiff wind while they checked documents multiple times OUTSIDE. Passports, tickets, again and again until we final got out of the wind. - Many passengers get the cheapest tickets, which entitles them to a sleeper chair. However. most don't use them. They bring pillows, mattresses, even "army cots" and just set up anywhere they want in the halls and corridors. Camp out on sofas in the lounge. There is no enforcement of areas where people are not supposed to settle in. The would partially block access to elevators, stairs, and doorways. I felt like I was on a refugee steamer whenever I walked out of my cabin. This should not be allowed. They pay for a seat, they should use it.
"Enjoyable crossing"
Took the ferry crossing from civitavecchia to Palermo rather than drive down the coast. Great decision as the crossing was smooth and the double cabin really comfortable. Our only negative was the slow loading and unloading, although this appeared to be a busy crossing. Overall great value for money and we throughly recommend the Fantastic.
"A trip to Morocco"
a good journey
"All very good "
All went very good. Except for the 2 hours I had to wait to get out.
"all in all, catastrophic "
Although after consultation was needed with the hotline of GNV a check-in at least 3 hours prior to departure, the terminal and the area for vehicles was open until an hour downhill. So we stood von 06.30 bis 09.00 clock morning Barcelona at the pier, waiting that it went on. After check-in we were driven 20 meters by a bus to the ship, which we were then able to enter via the vehicle ramp. The room (2 bed cabin) was big enough, had a window and a loo. The bathroom was cleaned, tidied the rooms.Photos. Before the cabinet and the bed covered thick fluff their circles. Restaurants or shops were closed until early evening, except for a microwave pizza, simple sandwiches at exorbitant prices (5 € for a cheese toast) had to be self-sufficient. Towards evening opened the restaurants so that you could decide between a Al a carte restaurant and a cafeteria. The price of the Kant Ninen food was reasonable, the Quality ok. Towards evening failed over the ship the sanitary facilities, so that all the toilets on board clogged. Within a few hours all the toilets were on the ship no longer usable, small businesses, we were able to continue doing in our private bathroom in the cabin. Everything else had to wait until the next day. On request from reception, whether a repair is in sight, you just said " it was broken everywhere, and wrote down the room number. For what purpose this was done remains unclear. Even the next morning the toilets were still not functional, and there were rumors in the rear deck had appeared a new toilet, whose condition would be acceptable. The large part of the signposted toilets, however, was closed or converted to a junk chamber, so that the single cabin only because of the toilet situation was found to be useful. At breakfast the Italian crew was able to score with an excellent coffee, bread and buns, however, had probably already been through more than one crossing, and should be enjoyed with existing dentures better with caution. The coffee at breakfast was good and cheap, the rest unfortunately lacking both the price and the performance. The vessel reached the coast of Morocco already 2-3 hours earlier than planned, so that the journey took a premature end. For the punctuality we forgive at this point, therefore, 5 stars.
"Sicily to Italy"
No problems tickets easily obtained. Staff friendly cabin clean and tidy. I find going by ferry always interesting around the docks etc. The ticket cost very reasonable considering.
"SETE/TANGER"
There were no problems during the crossing between Sete and Tanger. However, you should be more severe towards the attitude of some passengers who sleeps anywhere for 10 euros (a berth is really not that expensive). An improvement regarding the food would be good too.
"A reserved opinion"
During the outbound crossing, our outside 4 pple cabin was clean and confortable, but badly soundproofed. We couldn't sleep a wink all night, because of the noise of the engines. During the inbound crossing, the cabin was better soundproofed, but dirty. It looks like they only changed the bedding. However, the boat was more modern and the concert was nice.
"Our crossing "
The crossing went smoothly, we departed and arrived on time. I didn't like, however, that the cars were on the outter platform. They wewere splashed with sea water. Thankfully, it rained just before arrival, which washed the salt from then.
"Not really great"
The atmosphere aboard the ferry was not very friendly. There weren't many chairs, seats and deck chairs on the deck. There was no area to eat for people who don't eat at the cafeteria (which was expensive and not good at all). The main lounge is only open on the evening before arrival and people are squeezed in the two bars, which have civil servants opening times. It's a shame, because we had some nicer crossings...and it's the only remaining option if you don't want to cross Spain.
"Journey Civitavecchia Palermo"
everything fine on my ferry to sicily
"A return crossing between Genoa and Palermo"
Crossings aboard some majestuous ships. The check-in was quick, after booking online.
"Ferry Genoa Tangier Med GNV "
thank you for your demand. We went on the Fantastic in the 21.9 from Genoa to Tanger Med. Embarkation was confusing! There was a confusion of right and left. then driverless cars were again blocked. An announcement is that they started boarding would be helpful. On the ferry, our cabin was extremely dirty. Seats it had only outside the cabin, either in cigarette-filled vestibule of Atlantis or in the rooms where the TV was very loud. With my question if it had more chairs or if you could make the deck chairs free, I had no success. Bad was the arrival in Tangier Med when exiting. It was asked to wait near the Atlantis. There was a scrum! When at last the way was free to use the stairs, one was pushed from several people rushed. Me too `! That scares, with the pack behind! This is a great source of danger. Look for another solution here. Honestly I would choose another company and also pay more if it were possible. I am at their disposal, if they have more questions. greeting Emil Germann
"Good travel experience"
the vessel was in perfect condition, the staff was really kind, the only negative aspect were the dirty toilets, however, good value for money
"Grandi Navi Veloci"
The journey is great. Plesant AND confortable. However, the departure and arrival times are not respected.
"Avoid "
No service on board, the staff is absent. The self service restaurant is open for 2 hours at the most. No way to get any drinks (no vending machine) No plug for PCs or mobile phones The AC is blocked on a 4 degres, it's a real fridge. No blanket, no staff to help. The seats are unconfortable, not padded and covered with skai. I'll never use this type of boat again.
"crossing Genoa Palermo "
everything was well organized. Especially the disembarkation has worked perfectly. good planning. Only the signs to the port of Genoa is a disaster.
"Civitavecchia-Termini Imerese "
Very clean and punctual, the bar service was a little bit expensive, book the cabins!
"Good pleasant crossing "
We had a pleasant well-organized and timely crossing. On the boat it was very peaceful and the food and service were ok.
"Some peple from Nice on a trip"
The crossing was pleasant overall. The swimming pool was closed for maintenance. The staff was nice.
"GNV Genova/ Palermo and return"
the ferry was really punctual and also the time travelling was alright, but the armchairs area was quite dirty and I found a bottle of beer on the floor.
"A good crossing"
Everything was perfect from the cabin (very confortable bedding) to the rest of the ferry, the staff and the proce.
"Disappointment"
Fantastic: an old and noisy boat. Not enough quiet lounges. A poor swimming poool. And there is nothing to do when you are not Italian. The Suprema: more recent, clean, not enough quiet lounges and nothing to do if you are not Italian
"disappointed"
I had a very bad experience, and even though some members of the staff were really helpful, I have to say that the organization for the customer service care for the disable people was really disappointing. GNV didn't provide this service in this case, they left the customer without giving him any kind of assistance, for this reason we will not take GNV again.
"Civitavecchia-Termini Imerese return"
I have found the ferry very disorganized, the parking area was so poor, the cabin carpet was really dirty and the table was stained in both directions, the towels were dirty and smelly, the ferry was one hour late.
"Journey Civitavecchia-Termini Imerese and return"
I had a very good experience, the ferry wasn't so big, but it was really comfortable, the cabin were clean and well presented… I would make this trip again..
"Ferry Genoa-Palermo "
Everything was very well organized, so that there were no unnecessary waiting We were surprised by the high level of comfort of the two outside cabin, in higher than normal in no case price. However, bringing the large number of outside cabins that offers the Fantastic, the disadvantage that very few outside decks for The stay available during the day available.
"A very disappointing inbound journey from Palermo to Genoa"
I didn't enjoy the journey between Palermo and Genoa. We were informed of the delay by text. No explanation regarding that delay was given however and we missed our connections. During disembarkment though the garage exit, all the cars were stuck against another. I am very disappointed with the inbound journey and may make a different choice next year..
"Genoa/Palermo crossing August 2013"
Our crossing from Genoa to Palermo aboard the 'Fantastic' was very difficult… It was probably perfect for people who like cats and dogs. However, we were bothered by the smell of dog poo on the deck. The 'Fantastic' is old and dirty. There are only a few seats for hundreds of passengers. We had to stand up among the dogs to eat... We are very disappointed, because we had previously travelled aboard the 'Suprema', which we were delighted with... It's a shame that you cannot chose which boat you want to travel with. Or maybe, we didn't know how. Thankfully, we had a good holiday, but we had no desire to take that boat to come back. Fortunately, we travelled aboard the 'Suprema' which is a whole different standard: clean, spacious, with some entertainment and an outdoor pool.
"A disaster"
The return journey from Palermo to Genoa with departure on the 26/08/2013 has been drammatic! The ferry left with h5 delay and it was very slow! The entertainment, for both adults and kids, was awful. No organisation, especially on the arrival in Genoa. i wouldn't reccommend it!
"Grandi Navi Veloci are fast ships - that's true. "
Overall an average experience - the staff is friendly, the food in the restaurants is at least not with us have been good (the meat bland and tough). The ship (Fantastic) has a swimming pool, which was empty, deck chairs, which were firmly lashed and not accessible and overall too few seating on the decks. The entertainment program is lean and not qualitatively appealing. Since the ferry in the harbor is "turned" in 3 hours, the passengers have to leave their cabins from 1630 and will be asked depending on parking decks in different rooms of the ship to wait. Given the few seating and the full utilization of the ship this kind of crammed together waiting was extremely stressful and unpleasant. We had an outside cabin which was ok - a total of the ship from its facilities but is already quite "shabby". For dog haters should be noted that there are especially in high season very many dogs on board that are out there for a walk. Not every dog owner, however, has disposed of the respective legacies, is so popular down at the deck walk a searching look.
"Everything Good. Stress-free crossing "
I arrived recovered. Everything was professionally organized.
"Round trip Palermo-Genoa"
Outbound trip ("Fantastic" ship): Nice the welcome on board. The cabin was dirty and smelly with dirty and dusty blankets. I won't comment the carpet! I noticed passengers taking pets inside the "inside" cabins which are not pet cabins. I can explain the bad smell inside. Staff on board irascible and rude (do they work for free?) In general on board is a race to get a table, a seat, a sofa and deck-chair that passengers would occupy for the whole day. It's the staff responsability to assure that all passengers get the same treatment and can enjoy all services on board.
"Very good, except for the cafeteria"
Very good, except for the prices at the cafeteria (6.80€ for two pieces of cheese) The organisation was good otherwise. I would recommend it.
""
The crossing from Genoa to Palermo with Grandi Navi Veloci was pleasant: the ship is luxuous, the cabin is well equiped and confortable, the sea was quiet. There was a bit of confusion for parking the car, but overall it was like a nice short cruise.
"Genoa Tanger"
Very good trip, very good services, the staff was quite good as well.
"A very good trip"
The company is organised. The boat was on time. It was clean and welcoming. There are activities for eveyone (swimming pool, play area, karaoke). It's our second trip with GNV and we are very satisfied
"Genova Barcelona crossing"
Very bad experience with GNV when we arrive on board we realised that the crossing was Genova- Barcellona- Tanger, we found really hard to park the car in the garage, once we went upstairs on the ship we noticed that it was overcrowded and all the seats were occupied by the people, we couldn’t find even the place on the deck that we have booked, the staff was not able to speak Italian and all the main attractions of the ferry were closed..
"Pros and Cons "
The room was on a trip not quite as clean, on the way back it was a lot better. The staff, especially in the restaurants and at the self-service, were very friendly! The food was good. In the self-service restaurant, it would have have been cleaner. good coffee and the cocktails when they were a little small also, were very well mixed! Most disturbed us, that you have to already leave the room two hours before arrival and then had to take a seat in the scheduled areas, although it, especially where the C-car had to go had hardly room to sit. Without children does that, but with children, this is quite stressful, since one has all the luggage and also can not go to clean toilets. I think that should be cleaned better during this time. What was even more disturbing is that. In the bars, eg slept on the " sofas " in l'Obelisque, all day people, although this is actually prohibited. They had no place to drink a coffee, etc.. Will you not, besides the sleeping / snoring people. On the return trip was repeatedly pointed out, no results. For the rather high price to pay for the ferry, it should provide a little more. On the trip to Palermo you could not even swim, for example. Last but not least must be also said that one then, especially if you have a small car, must be afraid that it does not arrive", "healing". It was so bruised, that was really incredible. Especially on the trip from Palermo to Genoa my friend had a rather incompetent man, which assigned the car and has not looked that nothing happens. My friend had to stay in the car and repeatedly intervene that nothing has happened. We have paid enough that you pay attention to the car's more. Since one really thinks twice about whether you really want to take the risk next time again.
"inefficient"
I was disappointed not to find the chairs in the outside deck of the ship. It was so uncomfortable.
"scrapped mass transport "
if it was not done differently then they will need to stop by, otherwise the ship is (maybe there are other ships on the connection) in no way a recommendation. Only in the A la Carte restaurant you could bear it well.
"delay"
We left 1h and 30 min late from Palermo due to a death…we understand. We'll see you next time for another crossing.
"Genoa-Palermo aboard the Suprema"
Very satisfied with our crossing from Genoa to Palermo (and back) with our car + caper-van. We booked seats, so we brought our pillows. The room and the toilets were cleaned and well maintained
"Ferry: Palermo - Genoa 08/07/2013 "
We had booked outside cabin. The cabins are a bit worn, but we slept great. Food and drink on board are expensive, as would be expected. Calm sea, The travel times were met on time. Attention during extension: pure chaos! The marshallers abandoned the extension to the free play of forces. Luckily nothing happened.
"Trip Civitavecchia-Palermo Termini Imerese"
I have to say that we had a good trip. We had a nice departure from Civitavecchia and excellent arrival in Palermo. I would like to congratulate with both the ground staff and onboard staff. I hope they will keep this route. Regards, GIULIO MARCO MALAVASI
"signposting Directions Genoa + Barcelona via GPS "
On the whole, satisfied with the ferry. something to improve would be that the journeys, Genoa + Barcelona are described in detail in the order confirmation at the port or the coordinates in the navigation system can be specified. For the approach from the ferry in Barcelona I got was a text message that we are in the Muelle Costa who is new to hit from 15 July 2013. However, the address of the house was Grimaldi. Via navigation device is not Muelle Costa rechable. The info at the Grimaldi building was not good. The pilot on the court, however, has done his job verry good and was very helpful to us at check-in at the port. We wish you an enjoyable season and remain with best regards Joe Abächerli Switzerland
"Nice trip"
We enjoyed the ferry and its facilities. We found the cost of the meals and the shop overpriced.
"A trip to Sicily"
Our crossing went well, although ou seats booking was not respected. During the morning, we used the deck chairs to enjoy the sun. The prices on board are a bit high. As a result, families bring what they neeed. We were disapppointed that the cleaning of the decks start when the passengers are on the seats. The swimming-pool was close: it's a pity for the children The bar staff could be nicer, especially with people who don't speak Italian and don't know that you need to order at the till first. Technical information about the ferry should be displayed (tonnage, speed, measurements, consumption). Apart from that, everything went well.
"A very pleasant crossing"
A very pleasant crossing from Palermo to Genoa with the car, especially with a cabin!
"A trip aboard the "Fantastic""
We did a return journey with your company during our trip to Sicily. We were travelling aboard the Fantastic. The boat isn't appropriately named. We were disappointed with the state of our cabins. They were dirty (there were food, empty bottles et various waste on our beds, on the floor). The booking stipulated that a swimming pool would be available. However, it was closed during both crossings. Only paying games were available to entertain the children. The food in the self-service restaurant was cold and not necessarily tasty. It was however expensive.
"so, so"
The outbound trip from Genoa to Palermo was perfect, fun and pleasant, the return not so much: the h4-5 delay was unbearable, the toilets should be cleaned during the long crossing. "Fantastic" is a nice ship, but should be more looked after.
"General opinion"
Very nice trip but the hygiene was improvable in the public toilets and inside the cabins.
"Not bad."
I returned from a holiday in Sicily boarding from Palermo with the "Florencia". Despite being quite old, the ferry was tidy and clean. The bar service was poor. The cabin was clean but the shower didn't have a curtain and the water went everywhere. On the outbound there were people going to Tunisia sleeping on the floor, bar, etc... while on the return the trip was more pleasant and decent. I think i'll repeat the experience of travelling by ferry as I can take my own car, avoiding the stress of luggage allowance and airport check-in.
"A trip to the "GNV" from Genoa to Palermo, something for tough guys! "
"To reduce the stress of a car ride from Switzerland to Calabria, we booked this year for the first time a crossing, with the" "GNV" ", from Genoa to Palermo. Announced this our otherwise 1470km long journey in the summer holidays in three parts. First part, the journey to Genoa, then the second part, at issue here, the crossing by ferry. and then a third part, the trip from Palermo to our resort in Calabria. We have booked the relative range of the crossing shortly before the trip via the Internet. This has actually worked very well. We booked crossing from Genoa to Palermo, 3 adult persons, 4 inside cabin and a vehicle that Renault Espace GJK to 4.90 m. According to information on the Internet the ride on a modern ferry, equipped with swimming pool, cinema, various restaurants and bars to lead across the Mediterranean, and last around 22 hours. For the trip to Genoa, we applied 4 hours, a plus 2 hours a reserve, which we then, the traffic jam and customs goodness, really fully exploit. The check was carried out without major problems, amazed me then though, the receipt indicated on the obtained vehicle length of just 3.90m ... no matter, is already fit. For boarding my wife and my daughter had to leave before the ship the car and with the hastily sought luggage for the crossing, on foot march to the ship while I eat as a chauffeur, very nervously waving and gesticulating, orange-clad sailors, with my Renault was briefed on the parking deck "" D "", which, of course, how could it be otherwise, do not equip went without loud words of. The vehicles were at distances of 30cm, front and rear, and 50cm just to the side, very close to each other. Who's afraid of scratches in expensive car paint that is already here in the wrong movie. Because it is virtually impossible without touching the car a foreign car to get from the parking deck into the passenger compartment, since the vehicles are so close to each other. Once in the passenger compartment then searching for the family members, which in turn have been already sent by the cabin crew on the corresponding link car deck. As a non-Italian-speaking passenger, it falls a then very difficult to follow the indistinct and loud voice instructions of all standing around cabin-crew, simply because you absolutely do not understand what a friendly man now really just wanted to say ... Well, after some Currently I have found my family and our cabin anyway. The cabin was located on deck 8, in the middle of the ship, on the outskirts of the dog area, which is all well with signs (I've never seen a dog area ...) The cabin itself met the requirements and corresponded with their size we wanted. The plumbing in the cabin is tight but it also meets the requirements. The toilet was provided with a hygiene seal, which should display a previous cleaning. The strange light brown splashes, which were distributed all over the toilet to see, then settled but courage naked toilet paper and a single swipe wipe ... The hair on the floor were not let into the floor, but they let cancel by bare hands. And the stains on the mirror were not old, seized lime stains, but recently generated water splash ... That then the entire wet room floor looked like a large puddle after a shower, came from not quite matching shower curtain, and a drain, which was full of some hair ... But no matter, hot water came out of the shower, and the provided Duch lotion "" GNV "" smelled appealing good. Also the air conditioning in the cabin was extremely Powerful, which the whole family with cough and runny nose the next "
"Not so bad"
We appreciated that there weren't people laying down on the stairs and in the walkway during our last journey. We enjoyed the movie. We appreciated the fire excercice, although it was impossible to hear the instructions from the meeting point (in front of the entrance of the boutique). Probably a speaker missing. I didn't appreciate the response from the staff: "it's because of the children, they should shut up"!!! I didn't like that the cabin (SM 7162) was dirty, the absence of bathroom towels, the impossibility to change the thermostat, the radio and TV not working and the staff not being available.
"Downside: the catering"
I did the crossing aboard the Fantastic. I must say that the staff is very nice, except in the cafeteria and in the restaurant. The boat looks nice and clean, except for the shower room which is dirty! The problem was really the catering. The cafeteria and the restaurant close at 9.30pm. Afterwards, you need to be among the firsts to find a sandwich. The service at the cafeteria was rude, the dishes were cold and the pasta was dry and barely edible. The coffee was very good. And yet, my husband, who did this crossing before, told me that the food was good. It has changed. I can understand that the meals are expensive, but the quality should be there at least. Also, we departed 4 hours late without any explanation. However, we arrived on time. Congratulation to the navigation crew!
"A good crossing"
A pleasant crossing, the staff were very attentive to the passengers.
"visiting relatives "
The swimming pool is not used islamic background of many passengers)
"GNV Journey with car on board"
It is the first time I travel with the GNV Civitavecchia- Termini Imerese crossing and I didn't book a cabin, so I slept in the armchair which I found it a bit uncomfortable. I had a very good experience overall with the GNV.
"Route Civitavecchia -Termini Imerese"
It is the third time I do this crossing (From Civitavecchia To Sicily). In contrast with other ferry operators, I noticed that they were really punctual, and the ferry was really clean especially thetoilets. I found the staff really professional and helpful. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to eat at the restaurant. In conclusion I think this was the best journey I have done. I recommend it.
"A very average Barcelona Genoa"
A PLEASANT CROSSING, POLITE FILIPINO STAFF, A CLEAN CABIN, BUT A DIRTY INDOOR POOL AND BAR (cigarette butts, spilled drinks). NO SEATS OR DECKCHAIRS ON THE DECKS TO ENJOY THE SUN, DECENT CATERING AND PLEASANT SERVICE. PROBABLY A DIFFICULT CLIENTELE TO HANDLE? BUT ALSO THINK ABOUT OTHER PASSENGERS WHO DESERVE MORE CONSIDERATION AND CONFORT.
"Grandi Navi Veloci - Barcelona Genes, a very average rating"
A PLEASANT CROSSING, POLITE FILIPINO STAFF, A CLEAN CABIN, BUT A DIRTY INDOOR POOL AND BAR (cigarette butts, spilled drinks). NO SEATS OR DECKCHAIRS ON THE DECKS TO ENJOY THE SUN, DECENT CATERING AND PLEASANT SERVICE. PROBABLY A DIFFICULT CLIENTELE TO HANDLE? "cruises"
The ferry schedule is never complied with. There are no activities on board. The wifi is too expensive. Apart from that, it's clean inside and I don't understand why we have to leave the cabin one our before arriving.
"slow and beautiful "
Almost without waves and with very competent and friendly staff can enjoy the 19-hour crossing on this ship without problems. The ship is a bit old, especially the bathrooms have suffered. A few hangers in the showers would not be a luxury. The furniture is down a bit sparse - on the deck it had no sun loungers and only about 20 plastic chairs. For the drinks, the bars are great, not too expensive. Then there are the fellow travelers. The ship continues to Tangier, so go with a lot of Moroccans, for the gym was converted into a mosque and breathe the hookah Fuming and responsible for the great atmosphere on board.
"Trip in the Med with GNV"
I have travelled numerous times with GNV and am always pleased. Good price, excellent welcome on board from the staff and always a good ambiance as well. Amenities are of a high standard (cabins and food choices).
"Holiday travel"
Great trip and well prepared. The services provided for the period (although it was a bit out of season) were excellent.
"Comfortable but dated"
The ship was efficient and convenient, too bad it was a bit dated, especially in the outside on deck.
"a good trip short cruise"
Good prestation. Clean cabins. The drinks and the food are a bit high.
"SETE =) Nador "
Hello Direct Ferries team 1) Online booking Very good, no problems at the port. 2) All smoothly, loading and well organized check in. 3) equipment on board good. 4) room and comfort, 'Poor to Terrible (1x roll of toilet paper for 2 people and approx 40h ride. No Proper lighting, sink was unusable sealing!. Flooring and blankets as if the passengers had gone only a few minutes before. 5) Catering, no great selection and they had been extremely expensive (eg 2x pasta with tomato sauce, 2 x chips, 1/4 chicken cooked in the fryer oil was dripping just as before, 1x Coca Cola 0,5 l, piece of fish about cigarette size Price = € 38.80) 6) Coffee was ok, service unfriendly maybe it's because I'm Moroccan and the crew is Italian. My friend was German treated better. Alone at the output at the restaurant was seen as different his plate was twice as full as my ', it is not me because he put more on the plate than I do. Simply made solely to the distinction that makes operation only pity that such things still exist. 7) Price performance above 600 € for the ride 2 people and a car too expensive. When you consider the 40 hours is a long time and would 2 people more than once eat with security in the restaurant alone food are on board at about 300 €! 8) I know you can not meet each customer's wishes and maybe you have not the impact on the shipping company, however, it is important to me share with you my experience because I have also paid some of my their savings on this crew is doing it to so hurt more if you like one is treated from the jungel. I do not want you attacking with this letter personally or in any manner. But it would be gratifying if some of these points are mentioned Redirected. Thank you very much Hazzou Hakim
"Review Marine Sete - Tangier "
Many of the rooms were closed. For example the Library, Massage, Fitness etc. Pool was empty and therefore not useful. Range of restaurants & cafeterias was very thin. Staff very friendly and patient.
"Very good"
Very good trip, very good staff, very helpful and very nice. The staff chats to the customers, which creates a friendly atmosphere. I was even able to receive a fax on the boat. I'll do it again without any hesitation.
"Unhappy. Grandi navi veloci"
We travelled on 9/5 and 19/5. The outbound journey was good, although the reception team was not able to tell us when we'll arrive. It was written 3am on our voucher, but we arrived at 9am. However, the inbound journey took 50 hours, instead of the 30 hours planned, because of an unscheduled stop in Tanger! We arrived in Sete on Tuesday at 11am instead of the previous day at 4pm. We paid an hotel night for nothing and disturbed our plans for the day. Moreover, the back deck and the toilets were dirty. I wouldn't travel with this company again.
"Necessary Jouney for work in Sicily"
It was very good choice to take the crossing from Civitavecchia to Termini Immerse. The ferry was really clean, comfortable, and organized. I had dinner on board the ship and the price was good. The only negative aspect was the time of the crossing. I would prefer the ship from Civitavecchia to depart at 7p.m in order to arrive at Termini Imerese at 8;30/9 a.m so we could have more time for the day, particular if we have to work.
"Positive journey"
The trip was relaxing and hassle free. The staff were very helpful and professional. Both outward and return journeys were delayed in the arriving by an hour. In general we can give a good judgement to this crossing.
"Late both ways"
Two hours late for outbound and return journeys, also on board the TV was not working.
"Seats"
The seats are a bit uncomfortable. It would be nicer if nobody was sleeping in the corridors, but crossing was OK.
"Tanger sete crossing"
Satisfied with the service and got the message about the sailing duration changing.
"a fun way to get to Morocco!"
This is the second international ferry we have taken. GNV is about the same quality as Grimaldi lines, if a bit more run-down. The boarding process is confusing and lengthy. The seats were pretty comfortable compared to Grimaldi. My advice if you are purchasing a seat rather than a cabin: board as early as possible to claim your spot, bring lots of food and water (it is three times the price on board, and there is little food available), toilet paper, a sleeping bag. Then wait for them to open additional rooms for seating, and you might get an even better spot. Anyway, no complaints other than the terminal Tangier Med is really far from the town of Tangier, which I was not aware of, but the bus ride is super scenic and costs 2.50 euro. Have a good trip!
"Never again"
The ferry trip from Palermo to Civitavecchia was your worst nightmare come true.first of all the toilets were absolutely filthy. From the time we boarded the boat none of the toilets were clean they wouldn't flush and water covered the floor. Midway through the 12 hour trip they were even worse. This ferry should never have been used as an overnighter because there was nowhere for anyone to sleep except on the floor. So all in all not a very pleasant crossing.
"Adequate"
The ship was adequate for ferrying me across the Mediterannean. It's getting a bit old, although I certainly wouldn't say worn out. Examples: a TV from the 1990s in the cabin; edges and corners a bit chipped here and there. But everything was clean and the crew were friendly and helpful. Food was fine.
"Grandi Navi Veloci... there is no better"
I traveled with Grandi Navi Veloci to Marocco. I am very thankful, everything was good. There is no better!
