"Relaxing Ferry Ride"
Very easy to check in, straight on the boat and a lovely easy journey over, no stress like what I feel when flying.
"Ferry to palma "
Pleasant experience ,cabin outbound so got a few hours sleep ,didn't book one inbound sadly and wasn't prepared to pay 100 euros for about 6 hours
"A great deal."
Got a fantastic deal with direct ferries. I was half expecting to pay more when I arrived, as I saw on line some customers seemed to have issues, but it was the real deal. All went great. The boat itself was fine too, just a bit stinky outside from smokers, it seems to find its way to us, so we stayed inside, Inside was fine. Happily I marked the location when we disembarked in Palma, otherwise finding the Balearia port to leave is tricky as it is further down than the others & very poorly signposted. The link address was not the right port.
"Dissapointed "
I have to express my disbelief in recieving this survey from you.... I have been trying to contact you for 3 days now, to advise you that due to no fault of my own and due to the lock down situation here in Ibiza, i would not be able to travel as booked (and checked in !) for my travel to Barcelona due to the travel ban? Your phones are not being answered and i have not received any response from your customer service as per your web site! You have not updated me on the corona virus situation via a simple text message to my mobile, even though you ask for the number and so i have not travelled on the ferry as booked and to add insult to injury you ask me " how was my crossing" aaarrrggghhh 🤬😡😡 I am still waiting to hear if i will get a refund / credit for this unused booking? I have used your company on many previous occasions ( i still have a pending booking for a Dieppe- Newhaven crossing at the end of the month !!) But on this occasion your customer service has been sadly lacking.
"Excellent ship but poor harbour"
The ship's facilities, staff and punctuality were excellent. But, the facilties and staff at the Barcelona harbour were very poor. Finding toilets was very, very difficult.
"Not to bad"
Staff in Mallorca was excellent and helpful, done my check in in 2 minutes everyone spoke English so It was quite good. But staff in Ibiza was less helpful there was just one person in reception and she didn't speak English at all and ship was late for about one hour.
"Nice and relaxed"
Nice, relaxed and very luxury trip with very nice staff.
"Amazing "
Lovely
"a terrible experience with Balearia, Ibiza-Valencia"
One of the most frustrating days of travel of my life! On arrival at the port in Ibiza there was NO signage or information provided as to whether we were in the right place or the ship would be leaving on schedule. There were NO announcements informing us of the late departure of the ship - it wasn't until we started queuing to board ONE HOUR after the scheduled departure time of 14:30 that we were finally given some indication. I understand that the weather was bad, and that this caused the delay, and that Balearía can't do anything about this - BUT THE LEAST the company could have done was INFORM THE PASSENGERS. When we finally arrived in Valencia, and were allowed to depart the ship - at almost midnight, over FOUR HOURS later than scheduled - I had lost my booking for an onward car to Madrid. I had to stay in Valencia overnight at more personal expense. I also have to say that the organization was APPALLING. Boarding and disembarking the ship was stressful and tiring - I've never had to wait on my feet for such long periods. If this had been an airline, it would be completely UNACCEPTABLE that you did not offer complimentary food and water to your guests, that were waiting around for several hours extra because of the delay. I will not be recommending your services to anyone, nor will I travel with you again in the future.
"proce increased on booking"
price came up @ €143. paid £146 nothing to complain about but not right.
"Decent ride"
Decent ride... including the meal. No complaints.
"Wrong Port"
I looked up the ferry routes listed on the Balearia website to confirm which port this shit would drop me off at and still ended up at the wrong port. This is the second time i have looked up a route and been dropped off at the wrong port.
"Mallorca holiday "
Great way to visit Mallorca and a stress free ferry trip. Boarding in Palma was so easy and fast, the cabin seating is great but too hot with minimum air conditioning. We spent most of the time on the deck enjoying the sunshine. Getting the car off in Barcelona took a long time but was easy.
"Lovely mini-cruise"
We travelled early July, on 10am crissing from Palma-Ibiza It was great for us as we were not interested in eating, or watching films, we just wanted a sunny view of the land from the sea We sat on loungers, plenty of them, in sun ir shade, it was v calm The only downside are the smokers, many of them on the decks. We had a coffee(ok) and croissant(ok) but the upstairs terraza café didn't open till lunchtime. The boat goes onto Valençia so lunch is later. Staff were friendly, and in Ibiza port a regular person offered us a lift as you have to phone for a taxi which we didn't realise, he was v kind! We enjoyed the trip v much, booking on-line was easy, well recommended!! Nice way to see Balearics
"Awful Ship"
Incompetence at check in. Get sent to the 'new' docks over the bridge then back to the 'old' one. Then go in convoy behind a van back to where I started from at the 'new' dock. All this takes hours. No facilities for the wait - no toilets, no water, no food, no seats. After a long day on a motorbike not good. Bikes put in the open on the top deck and half-heartedly shackled. If the ship had rolled the bike would definitely have toppled. Brittany Ferries do the job properly, Balearic don't. Then on board finally. I was in the posh seats. Ho, ho. The Butaca Neptuno. Bright lights, only slightly reclined, fixed arm rests, lack of leg room and worst of all, an endless loop of a stupid pop song that played at high volume for (and I am not joking) hours. Rest impossible. Complained to steward who wasn't bothered at all. Asked if cabins were still available. Would pay anything to get out of there. Oh yes. Go to reception. Loads of lorry drivers ahead of me. No problem with that but an hour later when I got to the front (three people behind the desk, only one actually doing anything) he was amazed I'd even bothered to ask. No way, all gone. Busloads of teenage school kids racing round the place and shouting just added to the hassle. Eventually I found a disused passenger seating room, locked (apparently), in the dark. Went in, no-one there and it was quiet. Bits of air con hanging down from the ceiling. Managed a few hours sleep on the floor. Food on board was awful. Staff couldn't care less. Oh, and the temperature. Inside the boat it must have been 30 degrees and sweltering. The disembarkation took 1 ½ hours as bikes were pretty well last off (this never happens). And the car decks were absolutely full of poisonous fumes. The decks were dangerously slippery with water and oil - never good on a motorbike. Horrible, horrible. I will do anything to avoid going with Balearia again.
"Dire, Simply Dire "
What can I say good about this crossing? Possibly the only thing is the speed of the disembarkation. I'll start the negative stuff at home. The ticket was booked through direct ferries and wasn't cheap. I paid for a larger cabin with the expectation that it would be A) Outside B) Nice, I'll come to those once we've boarded the vessel. I received confirmation from Direct Ferries and shortly before the journey I had an email advising me that I could save time by checking in online. Balaeria on the other hand said no, I must go to the check in desk. "Which desk" I asked them (two are listed for Barcelona), "I don't know, I'm in Denia" was the unhelpful reply. Oh well, Google earth found me one place which happened to be the right one.......Google clearly knows more than Balearia staff. Let's move to the port now. I managed to find some parking (a huge underground car-park right by the check in desk) and I went in and checked in. The lady said, park at Teminal C after 7pm. OK, I turned up at terminal C at 7pm only to find it had been moved to Termianl B,not a major issue as they are close by. We then waited, and waited, and waited. Then at the last possible moment we were taken in convoy to a completely different dock about 2 miles away. It was farcical. Are you still with me on this horror story? Well, let's move onto the ship. We were parked up and made our way to the reception. Now, I use ferries quite a lot and I'm used to helpful staff in clean uniforms. Not here. Greeted by a guy who simply pointed to reception. You see, although you've already checked in you've not been allocated your room or it's key, unlike Stena or Brittany Ferries. So, another queue now at 23:00 this time for a rather unhelpful lady who clearly didn't want to be there and was making that fact rather obvious. The key was duly handed over and I made my way to the room, expecting something clean, tidy with a window. What I found was a dirty cabin, peeling paint on walls in corridors and an inside cabin which frankly, I was loathe to sleep in. Oh, and no air conditioning as it was broken on a warm night on the med, lovely! No bar, no food, nothing to eat or drink anywhere. Just a single bottle of water in a 4 berth cabin left on the side! I slept fitfully in my clothes on the top of the bed. At 5:45am someone walked up and down the corridor tapping on the doors giving us a rather rude awakening. Now, this part isn't the fault of the staff, but my wife left her Google Tablet either in the room or on a table while we were waiting to disembark. We didn't find out until later and contacted Balaeria straight away using their web contact form. I still have not heard a peep from them. Yet a member of staff will have found it in the room if it was there and almost certainly a member of staff will have found it on a table! Sorry for the long and often rambling review. But I want other travellers to be fully aware of what they're paying for if they use this crossing. Rich
"Shambolic organisation, ferry fine"
We travelled from Barcelona to Palma on the overnight ferry leaving at 11pm. The confirmation email for our booking said that there were maps on the Balearia website of the ports. I looked everywhere and could only find the details for what turned out to be the restricted dockside area. Not knowing that at the time, we drove to that address (thankfully very early) and were turned away by a quite bemused armed policeman. We then proceeded to drive back to Barcelona and had to follow signs for the docks until eventually we were lucky enough to spot a sign for the Balearia terminal. We parked and went in to ask where we were supposed to take the car, to be told to drive it to terminal S. This information does not appear to be anywhere on Balearia's website (I looked again at both the Spanish and English translations of the site thinking that perhaps something had been lost in the language barrier) which is very strange. We arrived as advised two hours before the departure time and then took part in a rather messy display of cars having to reverse into queues in a small space on the quay. I am only grateful we were not towing anything, unlike the several caravans and boats being taken on board. It was confusing that there appeared to be Balearia staff there with no identification or high-visibility jackets so we were unsure who was supposed to be organising things. We then waited until about 40 minutes before the departure time at which point we were guided into a single queue on the quay. Cars in front of us all had their hazard lights on which we assumed they had been advised to do by the staff but none mentioned this to us and we didn't understand why this would be necessary. We were near the back of this queue but it later transpired that we were following a Balearia van in convoy through the streets of Barcelona, with vehicles ignoring street signs and traffic lights in the desperation not to lose sight of the vehicles in front, leading to some interesting moments with other road-users. The last two cars in the convoy (us and the car in front) did eventually get left behind. By this time we realised that they were leading us back to exactly where we had been earlier in the day. Thankfully, another member of staff was waiting near that part of the actual dock and flagged down the next convoy leader for us to join them. We finally arrived at the boat and boarded without incident. The ferry itself was fine if a little tatty. We had a four-berth cabin which was comfortable and had everything you would expect (decent towels, bedding, soap etc). We slept well and woke up just before the staff began the very subtle process of banging on doors and shouting down the corridors to warn people we would be arriving soon. There was not a lot of direction as to when we should leave our cabin but we don't appear to have been told off for waiting until we were permitted to go back to our car so it seems to be fine. I don't think I have ever witnessed anything quite so shambolic as the organisation of this trip from start to finish. I can only hope this was a one-off but I somehow doubt that and I would be amazed if no one has ever come to grief following the convoy in this way.
"Fine, but could be better"
Finding the check in was very stressful, the port was chaotic with freight lorries queuing for various crossings and there were no sign posts to the Baleria check in, just too ind flags hidden well inside the terminal with a man not in any sort of uniform. The journey over was fine, coming back everything was okay, but I was disappointed the restaurant closed at 15.00 when the crossing arrived at 19.00 meaning my only option for food was an expensive sandwich rather than a hot meal.
"The comfy seats"
I travel with Balearia for the simple reason of using the special reclining seats that they have installed Why do I have to put up with hours of TV during the trip, the TV is too loud and for some reason the shouting that goes on with excessive violence during the programmes is totally unnecessary . If the management would take the time they would realise that most people in the area are trying to sleeep or rest. Turn it off.
"Terrible "
I work on ferries. I have worked on Brittany and DFDS ferries as a musician. I have never traveled on a ferry with such a lack of services as Balearia. 2 minutes after the ship departed (an hour late), there was an announcement saying the on board shop would be closing! For the full 8 hour journey there was nowhere at all open - not even to buy so much as a bottle of water. If you have no choice but to travel with this line - make sure you take plenty of food and drink with you. Also some cushions unless you can afford the €150 extra for a cabin with a bed! Terrible service. Surely they can afford to employ 1 extra member of staff to at least keep a bar or cafe open?
"Barcelona to Palma Ferry"
The sailing and ferry went very smoothly. I have done this crossing many times, my only issue with this crossing is in Barcelona. Every time I have checked the boarding procedure has changed. I once checked in over the bridge at the port side in a tent or at the offices near the roundabout. You never know where to go it's just take a chance and if your wrong you get sent to another office. This last time we checked in at the roundabout office and was told to follow a van with hazard lights flashing which took us to the ferry. Other than this it was great.
"Good but wit issues"
Finding place to wait or any directions around Barcelona port is just madness. Should do some signs showing the way to go. When we got on ferry was easy and nice trip.
"On Time"
We left on Time on the outward and return journey and arrived in both cases before the scheduled time. On the return journey despite a storm. Impressive
"Good service that could be improved."
The facilities aboard ship were adequate and it arrived on time. the cabins were fine with clean sheets and a decent shower. Rinsing in the sink after a shave was very difficult however, due to a shelf just above the sink that was difficult to miss with the back of the head. The worst part of travelling with Balearia was finding the parking area in Barcelona before departure. The map on the website was very poor and no proper directions were given. This resulted in driving around Barcelona for over an hour before finally finding the parking area. I did not come across any signs except for general signs for the docks. Thought should be given to people who do not have good Spanish, like myself. The only other problem that should be addressed is the food. Whilst the selection was good, on both crossings all of the food was luke warm or colder, it spoilt the meal.
"Balearic bliss"
Enjoyed the comfort and efficiency of this quality line once more. Enjoyed also the value for money, the fare for this 8 hour trip being cheaper than the 1.5 hour Calais-Dover which I took a couple of days later!
"Autumn crossing"
Clean cabins, awful food, unnecessary queue to get cabin allocation when could have been sorted out at Booking or check in
"good experience"
Easy to book, helpful staff and good value for money
"Recent trip"
As usual everything went according to plan. The special price was an added bonus. I hope to do the same trip in the coming year, hopefully at a similar good price Thank you Mike
"Food on board"
I have used this route for several years with both Balearic and transmedditereanea. For some reason they cannot get the catering right it is truly awful and invariably served by some of the most miserable people in Spain.
"Dog unfriendly "
I took my dog on the ferry but was disappoint there was not even water available near the kennels. Also you can only check on your dog at 2 set times.
"Disappointed "
Very friendly and helpful staff. Eat well before you go on the ferry as the food is poor. And the porta toilets in Barcelona ferry port are filthy. Surly it wouldn't take much to improve the facilties.
"I've seen cattle treated better!! "
we paid £350 for a car and three passengers one way from Palma to Barcelona. The facilities on the ferry were very poor. There were three toilets for 900 passengers. One of these was overflowing within 2 hours into the trip. Thank heavens this was a flat calm day if the crossing had been rough we would have been knee deep in S**t. The cafeteria was open for two hours then shut. The bar which served snacks ran out of food after 3 hours. Searing was poor. Quite honestly I don't think Balearia ferries have heard of the concept of customer satisfaction or care. On a 200m ferry with 11 decks, passengers are restricted to the the front 50 m on three decks. Unfortunately balearia is a quasi state run business, unionised and has a monopoly on the ferry service to and from the Balearics. If you still decide to travel - you have been warned!!!!
"Holiday trip "
The ferry is a great and relaxing way to get to Mallorca and very easy to use except finding the boarding gates. Clear signage is needed in Barcelona and Palma as we were lost at both ends and the Balearia website does not make it any easier. Only other point is the toilets, they are not cleaned on a regular basis.
"Unsatisfactory "
Sleeping seats were inceibly noisily, kitchen staff banged and yelled all night with little regard for passengers. Ship did not take off on time, passengers left outside with fumes, lights left on all night, making it impossible to sleep. There was the feeling that no care was taken or thought gone into how the ship catered for sleeping/resting passengers, for their comfort and for their peace. There was queuing, noise, light and disregard for comfort and well being.
"Excellent "
Excellent service , very helpful in changing a request we made .
"Baleria crossing"
Although the ship and crossing was good , the offload in Barcelona was appalling .My experience on a lot of these crossings is how in all situations lorry drivers are prioritised and if you have young children like I do waiting to get off with your car for nearly an hour with a 30 minute then queue just to move 1km to the motorway is just totally unacceptable
"A unique experience "
Being my first ever cruise, which I travelled with my family and my car, it has been a thrilling experience of Cabin, deck & Salon facilities with co-operative staff which all of us enjoyed. However one concern many of the Neputno Salon travellers faced is the seviour distrubance created by the pantry staff during lunch time for about 2 to 3 hours while they use to carry food and utensils from pantry to restaurant with unbearable sounds without considering the discomfort being caused to the travellers. Even I found many of the customers requesting pantrý staff to close the doors to minimise such distrubance.
"Balleare Ferry"
I would recommend this service , it was dependable punctual, friendly & competent crew.
"Good, but cold"
Trip was interesting. But it was very cold in cafeteria at night. We were frozen.
"Balearia"
The service from Direct Ferries was very good, although it would have helped if the ticket had more information about how to find the correct port terminal in Barcelona. The service provided by Balearia was very poor. There are absolutely no facilities at the port terminal, assuming you could find it in the first place. Once on the ferry, we had to queue for half an hour to be allocated our cabin, something which could easily have been done while we were waiting to embark. The café on board was very poor, as was the shop, and the "bar" was a counter on the deck with no seats. Balearia could learn a lot from P&O and Britanny Ferries. On the return journey from Palma we had "reserved" seats as it was a day crossing. When we asked where our seats were we were told that they were on a first-come first-served basis in the café. I think it fair to describe this as a rip-off. The crossing is quite long at 7.5 hours, so one would have expected better catering facilities and a proper bar. Unless you really want to do this crossing I would advise against it. It is very expensive as well. We certainly will not use Balearia again - very poor.
"Barcelone to Palma"
The cabin was clean and comfortable. Beds for 4 people to sleep.
"Barcelona to Palma - overnight ferry"
The trip was great - I was a foot passenger, travelling alone. As it was an overnight ferry leaving at 11pm, and as I wanted to get some sleep I had booked a seat in the "Neptune" room. These seats recline really well back and are comfortable to lie on. I had taken an eye mask (which was useful as the lights, though dimmed, remain on overnight) and some earplugs to keep noise from disturbing sleep. And I arrived reasonably fresh the next morning at about 7am. The staff were polite, and the refreshments I bought before "bed" were good quality.
"Very nice trip"
People were very nice, only finding the departure place and their office to get the tickets was problematic. They need to add this info on their website
"Van to Mallorca"
The ferry is air-conditioned, clean and I was treated well. I did not have a cabin on my way out or bak to mainland Spain, so cant comment on this. I did what was specifically disallowed, sleeping on the couches! I was not the only one, dozens of family's, couples, children did this. I took a small pillow and blanket, which I had with me under my arm when entering the ferry, this gave me a reasonable nights sleep! Direct ferries customer services were helpful on the day of arrival in Barcelona, what I mean is, the phone number on the reverse of the emailed info. However, the booking info had no address to obtain ones tickets or to where to drive too for driving onto the ferry. Very odd, something I hope they will address, forgive the pun. The two locations are a mile-or-so apart and in opposite directions. this is the lat/long for the booking office 41.373444, 2.177720. If you go 50 metres past it on your left, you can turn left and park briefly until you get your tickets. The ferry location is over a tall, white bridge and located about here 41.349205, 2.174786. There is a building site now but within 6 months, this will be the main terminal and perhaps where you go for your tickets! Your loaded one way and so expect to be manoeuvred inside the boat to squeeze as many trucks, vans and cars into the space. You might well be facing the wrong way, when you eventually park. I hope this has been helpful - Regards Don
"Road Trip Majorca 2017"
Simple to book, efficient service and well organised
"Passengers taken for granted "
Check in at Palma a joke .... 3 at the desk , sometimes 4 , but two were trainees and needed constant guidance . We waited 1hour 10 minutes and there were only 7 passengers in front of us ! Staff on board arrogant and unhelpful .
"The crossing"
Reliable and on time! Very basic facilities and cabins in need of a serious upgrade. I think our dog Angus had better sleeping accommodation on deck!
"The hidden Ferry Ports of Barcelona and Palma"
My guess is that the ferry company Baleria are developing new facilities at both ports. It was our first time in Spain and we were at a very rudimentary level of Spanish, which certainly didn't help. We followed signs, and our sat-nav, to the ferry terminal in Barcelona - and it wasn't there. Luckily we had plenty of time - it was lunchtime and our ferry didn't depart until nearly midnight - so we fought our way through the communication barriers until we found our way to a construction site at the far end of the port. Booking office in a tent. You have to cross the 'Pont de la Porta D'Europa. - an impressive bridge - and follow on to the end of the long arm to the south east. Then we had the same problem in Palma coming back. We turned up at the Baleria offices following signs and our sat-nav to be sent, again, to the other end of the port. The south east corner again. It would have been useful if DIrect Ferries could have provided this information in the paperwork for the booking - we were certainly cursing DF rather than Baleria or Spanish road signage. The ferries were great. Being May there were few cars travelling to or from the island. Plenty of space and no annoying children's entertainers.
"Barcelona-palma-barcelona"
Nice trip exept from catering. Why close deck bar and cafeteria at 3pm on return trip?
"Barcelona to Palma review "
First of all be careful I was robbed in the port, couldn't get a cabin when booking online and was told to visit the check in offices in Barcelona port. It was difficult to find and I was approached by a man offering to help find it. When I went into the office he was waiting when I came out, when I opened my van subsequently jumped in my van by clicking the central locking he jumped in the passenger side with another man and demanded money. So keep your doors locked at all times and be weary of anyone approaching you, just ignore them. The ferry journey itself was fine.
"Good journey"
Straightforward, smooth & comfortable journey! Far better than Transmediterranean on every level. Cabon was far better with comfy bed. These ferry crossings are very expensive however!!! I will avoid them in the future.
"Back to Mallorca again"
Sailed on this ferry many times with no problems, don't normaly eat on the ferry so can't comment on the catering, but our cabin was clean and comfortable and
"Excellent"
The ship itself was excellent, I think it must have been refurbished. Not much on board but was only to sleep on for me and was clean and comfortable.. The only problem was check in and departure total lack of directions
"Ferry Crossings"
The boarding was very efficient and the place to queue was easy to find The trip there was very comfortable on the reclining seats and got quite a lot of sleep The return joourney was not as good having been attacked by another passenger who used two hands to push me in the back over a chair which resulted in a cut eye and being on warafarin bled quite profusely also it was difficult to find where to board but generally the crossings were fine
"Alternative travel"
Recently had to change our plans and return to the UK overland. The first part of our journey was by ferry from Palma to Barcelona with Direct Ferries. The whole experience was brilliant. Their website made booking seats easy and the staff both at the port and on the ferry were friendly and helpful. The ferry was comfortable and clean and the time seemed to pass very quickly. Embarkation in Barcelona was smooth and quick.
"Barcelona- Palma"
Great trip. were helpful and friendly and the cabin was spotless. Would travel again with Balearia Ferries.
"Leisurely, clean but a bit confusing as far as organization."
Loed my small room. It was clean and comfortable. I thought I was going to have to share it with other travelers but that was not the case. Arriving form franca and trying to find the office to check in and receive my ticket was more problematic. Signs to port were easy to follow but police had to help me find the Balearia office and I almost missed the boat. You need to he there two hours before there scheduled departure. My car had to be stored where the trucks normally are, which did allow me to leave the ferry upon arrival first. It was also not clear tome when the trucks could leave. More instructions would have been appreciated
"Comfortable way to travel"
I recommend upgrading to a cabin if you take the overnight - having your own shower, toilet, and bed is well worth the extra $. We were lucky that our 7.5 hour ferry ride during the afternoon was not crowded so we were able to find a "couch" in the cafeteria to claim and nap/relax. However, the seats in the first upgrade option are nice & big, recline back, and look super comfy. The staff was helpful but the food is mediocre so I suggest bringing your own food/snacks. I'd recommend using this company!
"Ferry to Barcelona "
Definitely recommend the extra cost of first class, the leather reclining seats where incredibly comfy and had so much room, very pleasant trip. Staff also spoke very good English and where extremely nice
"Back to Mallorca again"
Good crossing, departed and arrived on time and our cabin was clean and very comfortable.
"good and clean"
I found the ship clean and pleasing. All in all a very pleasant crossing.
"professional transfer to the islands"
price and handling excellent. Trip was comfortable
"Good ferry, shame there was no quiet room!"
Comfy ship and good quality canteen, though food was a bit cool by the time I got there (microwaves helped). shame that every public area inside the boat had a television playing, including the lounge with comfy reclining seats. This made it difficult to have a doze, with to noise even seeping through earplugs.
"Ferry to Majorca"
It's been almost 2 years now that I use your ship from Barcellona to Majorca and I am satisfied, the restaurant could be improve in quality.
"Ferry to Majorca"
It's been almost 2 years now that I use your ship from Barcellona to Majorca and I am satisfied, the restaurant could be improve in quality.
"Good company"
Having travelled on both companies, the Neptune class is the most comfortable way to go. The food however is a bit limited unless you want to go for the full traditional Spanish meal. Many people take a picnic on board which is probably the best option. The bus to / from the terminal is painless.
"Great trip!"
Sunshine, smooth seas, minimal passengers, friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms clean, hygienic and well supplied. An excellent voyage. Be at the terminal min 90 mins before departure"..
"To Palma"
It was a quiet and safe travel. Food services could be better. Good value for the price.
"Trip Barcelona-Palma and retur"
Nice trip.
"Overall a reasonable alternative to flying "
Travelled Barcelona to Palma as foot passengers overnight, with a booked cabin for 4. After checking in at the Estacio Maritima we were directed to queue for a bus as the ship was berthed about 5 km away. No explanation for this was offered. The ship was OK but parts of it were crowded with cabin-less youth groups but the cabin we had was clean and comfortable and larger than expected. We didn't use the catering except for a quick drink at the bar (OK) and coffee in the morning (pretty awful). Apart from the bussing -which we could have done without- the boat was efficient and on time. Overall, a good alternative to flying but the service overall was not as good as ferries we have used on the North Sea and English Channel (DFDS and Brittany Ferries).
"Barcelona to palma"
Would not hesitate to book via direct ferries again. Never had any problems on this or previous trips. Book baleria and be aware that the terminal in Barcelona is "over the bridge" near end of pier and just looks like a random yard. It is better signed now but still not obvious/allow a bit of time. as you are not issued a ticket do not be phased when you have to queue at a portacabin to be issued with your actual ticket. Bit of a wait but looks more of a fuss than is. Don't book a cabin but book a first class seat as is huge and comfortable. Eat paella and booze with the lorry drivers and have fun.
"Ferry trip from Palma to Barcelona"
Ferry was OK, well worth ensuring to have a first class seat, they are very comfortable and have access to power sockets. The restaurant service on board is not great and the restaurant is shut for a significant proportion of the voyage.
"Night ferry to palma"
Directions to the ferry were very poor and we met two groups of people in cars waiting in the wrong place. All very organised, all clean and quite quiet. Food was only available for a short time in the evening and even shorter in the morning. Pity a drink at night..not necessarily alcoholic would have been nice. A good trip.
"Great trip"
It was pleasure to travel with Balearia. Great service. If I have chance to travel again to Ibiza, I would make a same choice and do it with Balearia...
"Ferry to Palma by Balearia"
Having by both Acciona & Balearia I would recommend Balearia. The chairs are far more comfortable and recline, however I still find it impossible to sleep. If you can bring a pillow and eye shades as the lights remain on all night. You will be bussed to & from the ship so make sure you leave time at the end of your journey to take account of this.
"Trip to Caen"
We had a lovely trip with you. Everything was prestine and the Ship was beautifully designed. Punctual and organised. Thank you.
"Eat before you board!!"
We used this service last week from Barcelona to Palma, boat was fine and cabin was really good and clean, we were even given bottled water! all I would say is try to eat before you board there was a long queue and when we got the food it was stone cold and not very good, we had a go at warming it in the microwave but they didn't seem to be working well.
"Nice trip"
Always nice to travel with you between Barcelona and Palma, friendly staff, clean and neat.
"Calm sea and comfortable voyage"
We were very lucky to have a very calm sea for our crossings both ways between Barcelona and Palma. The ship was very well run and comfortable, and the staff were very efficient and pleasant. Muchas gracias!
"Palma to Barcelona with Balearia"
I have been doing this road back and forth for about 20 years with other compagnies but I have only recently switched to Balearia and I am really happy I have done so. The quality of Balearia compagny has gone from low average to excellent in only a few years and I admire such a positive change in every aspect of the vessel, the quality of the services, the kindness of the staff, the comfort of the place. Bravo and good continuation.
"Barcelona - Palma"
Very pleasant trip across overnight. Cabin comfortable enough and had ensuite shower/bathroom.
"Palma to Barcelona"
The facilities on board are a bit limited. If it is not high season, don't book the First Class seats as there will be lots free and you will not have to pay for them. The prices of drinks and coffee are v expensive, but the canteen is great value of €13 for 3 course lunch, and tasty too. The advertised times are optimistic. Add an hour for unloading - all the freight leave first then the cars. This is quite annoying if you have planned something according to the published times. If you want to use internet onboard buy the voucher from reception, I bought it using the online payment and then it didn't work, and I had the mother of a job getting them to credit me €3 - which they finally did it took forever. So, but it at reception is my advice.
"Good trip"
Spent a pleasant trip travelling from Mallorca to Barcelona. Relaxing atmosphere.
"holidays 2014"
good alternative if you don't want to fly. We travelled from Barcelona to Palma with deck space because you can seat whereever you want on board so you don't need to pay more. On the return we travelled during the day. Clean ship, friendly staff. Good restaurant that offers a good quality food. good service at the bar outside with delicious mixed grilled.
"Excellent"
To be honest it was the first time that we made this kind of journey. And everythig ended very nice, the ship was beautiful, very good quality of the food, friendly and kind staff on board, and the facilities, quality and maintennace in general excellent and recomendable 100%
"trip ok"
all perfect, positive feedback
"Good service - absolutely recommendable"
Everything from booking, to answering questions by phone, to online check-in went smooth. Ship is clean and sober.
"excellent cabin"
clean and comfortable ship. I loved the cabin. I'm 8 months pregnant and they asked me a lot of questions before boarding even if I had the written permission from my doctor. But at the end all perfect
"nice basic acomodation"
I can recommend everyone the small cabin for 4 people you can book ! Nice to lay down i a small bed and take a fresh shower with a fresh towal ! also the food was basic and nice ! also VIP seats were very comfortable !
"Great service"
Ship was late but they kept us well informed by mobile phone and saved us hanging around the port
"VERY BAD"
why? simply because we had a delay of 4 hours, clearer by the urgencies of unloading trucks and trailers almost another hour. The outbound from Barcelona was already late but we could say was within normal limits. The return trip disastrous.
"opinion "
good
"Difficult to find"
The actual travel was fine, well organized, friendly staff, nothing to moan about. It is a long trip though, I used the boat out of curiosity. If there is a next time, I'll fly. I could not find any information about the location of the ferry in Palma. I can't remember how many people I asked for directions, which bus to take from the city centre, where to get off that bus and where to go from there. You could put some information on your confirmation email, for example. I don't want to select yes or no regarding recommending this ship to a friend, but your site doesn't let me submit the form otherwise.
"Everything can get better!"
High noise, a alarm that was sounding for hours on the boat making it impossible to sleep in first class, hard to find the departure for the boat, unpleasant stuff with very long waiting time at chrck in.
"a very good journey"
Confortable sitting. Nothing to fault.
"satisfied"
The boats were clean, confortable and well maintained, the staff is attentive. It was perfect, except for a delay which could have caused us some problem if we had a connecting train or flight…
"Palma-Valencia route in the Abel Matutes "
Comfort, friendliness and punctuality. The Balearia base in Valencia was far from the city and badly-connected.
"services"
A pleasant journey, a respected schedule. The only problem is that the signpostings indicating the direction to the boarding area for Balearia ferries are difficult to find.
"easy crossing"
Other than the position of the port and finding the ship after signing in, the trip is very easy and pleasant. We had a cabin, which was clean and tidy. We set sail at 11 and went to bed. Woke at 6 and was in Palma by 6:30. No complaints.
"Mallorca-Barcelona "
The ride was until the volume of the sonication on the deck and the noise level of the established television, pleasant. The food was good. Staff nice and helpful.
"Good alternative instead of the flight"
Nice way of travelling, and very central as well from both Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona. The time table wasn't the best with departures from Barcelona but it was better from Palma de Mallorca. You need to have some patience as ferrys isn't effective as in Sardinia.
"Barcelona/Palma"
The crossing with a cabin was pleasant despite a strong swell. The only inconvenient: the access to the boarding terminal is badly signposted.
"Travel and hotel at same time"
I can take travel and hotel at one time with resonable cost. Seat is more relax than I expected.
"The better alternative "
As a longtime user of the Trans-Mediterranean I was surprised that you still can make more pleasant the crossing. I will again post the Balearia.
"Abel Matutes a comfortable cabin and good crew, good vessel."
The vessel was well appointed and all staff very helpful, in all a very could journey. Thank you.
"consistently neat note 3 "
3 stars and 4 stars for cabin
"All good "
All ok but the seats a bit uncomfortable to spend the night
"good experience "
everything is clean, friendly, punctual
"assessment "
All the best
"First Class Neptuno ..... "
Check-in was very friendly, briefing on board calmly. Unfortunately, the so-called reclining seats were mostly not adjustable, and could no longer be set up from a lying position. The massive ventilation prevented it a reasonably peaceful crossing. Here one can still improve what. Moreover, it was also the state of some toilets before dropping unacceptable and they were not used, because clogged. :-(
"Ferry: Palma - Valencia "
The crossing was relatively comfortable in the Neptuno armchairs. Was bad, that the harbor in Mallorca each Ferries to Valencia or Barcelona were not signposted. The departure in Valencia from the ferry took almost 1 hour since the car had to wait until all the trucks had left.
"Friday night to Palma"
Arriving in Barcelona at 3.00pm I had plenty of time to locate the ferry departure point ready for boarding at 22.00. Just as well!!!! There are absolutely no signs at all to indicate where the Balearia boat leaves from and if, like me, you don't speak Spanish you are in for a tough time. I drove around the port for 25 minutes before I found a policeman who was able to point me in the right direction. I then drove out over a bridge turned right and drove a very long way to the end of the Jetty I was on - straight past the actual Balearia compound which has no signage at all!! Eventually and by a process of elimination I found the parking area and had to exchange my printed booking for tickets in the on-site porta cabin booking hall!! Then boarded and from that moment all was well. There were only tens of people on board with just 11 cars and 30-40 trucks. The boat was comfortable and the service was excellent. Will definitely use again, especially as I now know how to find it!! Advice- give your self 3 hours to find the boat.
"Abel Matutes "
Very pleasant and calm crossing, recommended!
"satisfied!"
It was a good and clean ship. We was 2 persons and got 4 person berth cabin. Not so big but clean! It was a lot more clean than the Grand Navi Veloci lines suit we used day before to come from Genova to Barcelona!
"Crossing"
My first experience of crossing with Balearic ferry, very punctual, nice journey..
"Everything OK. "
Todo bien. Everything Ok.
"Defective air conditioning "
"The air conditioning in our" "room" "was defective. The lady receptionist gave us this room, even though you knew that with the room something is not right! We have night asked two clock for another room because it was felt 40 degrees in our room and we could not stand it any longer. since the ferry was not nearly fully booked, the room could be replaced. We only ask for what reason, we the lady at the front desk did not from the outset a orderly room has given?! Preposterous! The procedure went smoothly otherwise! "
"Wrong behavior of direct ferries "
Was due to work commitments the crossing to cancel, cancellation was not possible according to direct ferries! Impossible behavior! I just got annoyed!
"Valencia-Palma journey"
Everything was perfect. Good service on board. Good cabins. Departure and arrival on time. Thanks and till the next one.
"everything top "
I was very surprised how great the ship is. I drove for the first time with the Balearia, will always make that choice in the future.
"crossing of barcelona by palma de mallorca "
5 stars - everything was very well organized, clean cabins in and a friendly staff!! we will travel again and so can each only direct ferries recommend!!!
"Delighted "
I can only say that the trip was perfect.
"Crossing Palma-Barcelona "
All the best, happy again
"Again and again Balearia "
I was surprised popsitiv and would decide at the next crossing for Balearia!
"Long way nightravellling"
We did find the port in the end- which wasn't easy as it nearly was any signs around. We drove on to the ferry one hour before departure. Everything went good and with no problems. At the ferry we went to to café och brought water for the night, then we rested on the chairs. Many passengers snored. We arrived in Palma on time.
"Balearia quay"
A difficult access, the quays are a bit industrial for an holiday departure. The journey went smoothly: the staff and the confort were very good. The only problem is that the toilets were not clean.
"comments to the trip"
In general, this trip was fine. We have depart and arrive in time, the conditions on board were excellent, food and drinks also were OK. What we did not like is that after arriving we were taken on a bus and were dropped out on the street without any information where we are and how to go further. We suggested that the company would arrange us at least to the mar station where we could call taxi or took a urban bus or something. In reality we occurred in the street and using our bad Spanish knowledge tried to find the correct way to the hotel. It was bad.
"approach "
Actually, all the best, only the way to the boat could be better signposted. When booked via internet, then you first have to drive to Office if you are watching another ferry is made, there is little or no parking-space. should also be specify that this action up to 45 min. may take when there is lots of activity. staff there also not very friendly. once you have your boarding pass, the journey really starts. one hours you should take into account. is just as a tip, thus the journey does not become a stress factor.
"Baleares"
Nothing to report, it was perfect. During the outbound crossing, we slept on benches. The inbound was during the day and there was a bit more people. The crossings were fairly fast.
"Barcelona Palma Return"
You need to know the place to know where to board. It's badly indiated and the staff at the desk isn't good at giving information. You need to choose your ferry. The Visemar 2 was a horrendous. There are more passengers than seats. Some people had to stand or sit on the floor during the whole crossing. Still the crossing is far from being cheap (700 euros for 3 people and a car).
"Very decent"
The treatment of pedestrian passengers is very good. The cabin was very good, although it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. However, we arrived one hour early. It would be nice to be notified, so we are able to get organised.
"A decent crossing"
I was a little bit lost in Barcelona. First, you must validate the ferry ticket in one place and you board the ferry somewhere else, 5 km away. There isn't a lot of animation on the boat. Otherwise, it's fine overall.
""
Good crossings between Barcelona and Palma. One problem: The boarding area in Palma is not indicated and the address doesn't exist in my GPS. It is very difficult to find, almost impossible for someone who doesn't speak Spanish.
"a superb ship"
Nelly and I enjoyed this crossing. We particulary enjoyed the space on the last outer deck with the barbecue, the bar and the music.
"Barcelona/Palma de Mallorca return crossing"
"poor organization "
An award for bad organization: Travelling by motorbike To pick up the ticket booked online at Balearia about 40 minutes waiting time (2 switches of about 12 are open). During this time the motorcycle with unclosed luggage is without surveillancy at the roundabout! Upon receipt of the ticket (10 minutes before departure) I get a bad directions to the ferry (about 1.5 miles away); fortunately a strange fellow has agreed to lead me there - otherwise I would have never found. Crossing was i.O. On the return trip I had booked a Neptuno recliner. But unfortunately all seemed to be occupied. After repeated requests to the front desk, reservations all located there passengers were checked and I was assigned a seat. If one were to assign a seat number when booking, they would not have these problems! Since there are far better organized ferry. Otherwise there was no storm, no thunder and fallen we are not too :-)
""
A very good crossing
"Beautiful crossing, but room for improvement "
Positive is the quick loading and unloading especially the ferry. In Palma we were 10 minutes from the ferry below. Personnel in loading and unloading very good! Negative: the signs of the way to the ferry is very bad, you have to look. Also, do not tell that you have to the office beforehand to check. Also in Palma we were sent back to the office without saying that we have received the tickets already in Barcelona. On board: 1st class seats are for sleeping not really suitable. It is rather the convenience of a flight. On deck: the disco music is just too loud, you can not understand his own word. There are definitely not enough seating available Conclusion: nice to be crossing with room for improvement
"Balearia Barcelona - Palma "
All the best
"Balearic experience "
We did Valencia-Palma and Palma-Valencia in the Abel Matutes with a 15-day difference and everything was good except for the fact that I lost my phone. We tried to contact the Abel Matutes via email since they didn't allow us to call them and nobody did anything. On the way back because it was the same ship we managed to find the phone even though it was not in the lost and found section. I have to say that the service was awful and we had to be without mobile phone for 15 days. Also, I think they should have two café services. One for the truck drivers that collpse the buffet (paid by their companies) and another one for the travellers who just want a cold coke or a coffee.
"A return crossing between Palma and Barcelona - 4/8/2013- Visemar One"
Departure from Palma at 12.30pm. We noticed a difference of confort between our outbound ferry crossing and our inbound ferry crossing. No "pullman" seats and few quiet zones. The deck chairs on the upper deck were fare and between and usually damaged.
"Ferry to the Baleares"
A very good crossing!!!!
"No recommandation "
We booked the 1.class and it was absolutely horrible. Extremly loud, passageway to the restaurant for all passengers, next door the the kitchen with bad smell, seats without earphones for the tv.
"A pleasant journey"
The crossing between Palma and Valence on the Abel Matutes ferry was good. We had a meal in the self-service restaurant. It was good value for money and we spent part of the journey in the upstairs lounge where you can enjoy a beautiful view over a large bay. The ladies in the seating room were closed, but there were other toilets available. The ferry boarding is far away from the place where you collect your boarding passes. Plus it is difficult to find. You need to plan extra time for it.
"valencia palma ferry"
We had booked a week in Majorca with cheap fight but decided to take the ferry instead as we live on mainland Spain. We really wanted to go from Denia as this is much nearer for us but it wasn't available so we decided on the Valencia route. Leaving for Palma was at 10.30 at night so we booked a cabin which was basic but clean and i would advise any one taking this trip to do the same. The ship arrived in Palma the following morning around 5,30am but at least we had had some sleep. On the return journey we didn't book a cabin as the ship left at 11.30 am. Instead we had one of the very comfortable electric reclining seats but not advisable to try and sleep through the night on one. The food on there is i have to say was awful and expensive but the experience on the whole was a good one and yes we would do it again.
"Crossing with young children and their own car "
We went at 23.4. (23h) with our three young children from Barcelona to Palma. Everything was fine (friendly and helpful staff), cleanliness in the cabin was good. The only negative point: The traffic-guidance -system in Barcelona from the check-in desk to the ferry terminal simply is very bad (actually did not exist) which costed us a lot of time and nerves.
"Enjoyable"
An enjoyable experience, the facilities were very clean and very comfortable seats. The only issue was, it was very cold and that made it impossible to sleep.
"Great ship poor port directions"
The entire organization process of booking the ferry online, up till the arrival in Mallorca went pretty smoothly. Unnerving was the sign-age for directions to the ferry port. Friends had warned us about this. This requires serious attention. When booking, an accurate map of the port should be sent to the customer, with address and street name for instance, as many now have a GPS, where it could easily be entered. As a driver unfamiliar with how to get to the Port from Germany, we needed an incredible 2 hours to find the route- especially at night time. However, with the help of some friendly Spanish locals, construction workers and truck drivers, we eventually found our way. Thank goodness for planning ahead of time, as I wouldn’t have expected these difficulties with GPS.
"With a bike a good alternative to flying"
I boarded the ferry Friday evening at 10 pm with the direction Palma. I opted for the ferry as I had a bike with me. As the ferry left at 11pm, I had the entire day and was able to work, that was good. I didn't expect not to be able to go directly to the ferry, we had to get in a bus which took us to the ferry. I nearly missed that bus and would have missed the ferry as a consequence. I had a first class seat which was very comfortable, I couldn't sleep though due to the overall noise around me. We arrived super punctually in Palma. For me this was a good alternative to flying.
"Uncomplicated"
Even though this my first ferry crossing, all went very smoothly and without any problems. Booked online, presented mny booking conformation at check-in, boarded the ferry and off we went. I was a little scared of driving on the ferry, but this was no problem as the entrance is nice a big.
"Good crossing"
We appreciated the confort and service on board. Congratulations
"Trip Impression on the way to Barcelona"
The ship is clean and brand new, however I have to complain about the disembarkation: There were only about 7 people without a car on board, which were then treated as second-class passengers, the cars and trucks were allowed first which took about at least 45 minutes before we could disembark - In the far corner of the container port, a bus took us then to the actual terminal, because of this my first good impression flew out the window.
"Never with dog again"
Boarding and crossing were as always professional. However, the accommodation for our dog (and for the other dogs as well) was a torment. The cages are directly by the cars, the air is bad and drafty. Our dog had an eye infection afterwards. You cannot take care of the animal during the crossing. We have seen better on other ferries. We will therefore not take the dog with Balearia again.
"Impossible to get a refund for the rental car we didn't board"
Good crossing, confy seats. The only downside is that we paid for the crossing of our rented car that we ended up leaving, so a lot of charges for nothing. Balearia should inform his clients that it's not possible. MN
"Very satisfied"
Everything went well, good crossing.
