"Very exciting experience for the 1st time boarding the cruise"
Very nice amazing experience
"Terrible night"
I understand it isn’t your job to parent other people’s kids, but this was an overnight sailing and I didn’t get a wink of sleep (6 hour drive ahead, lovely) due to unaccompanied kids running round screaming at the top of their lungs all night - and I mean literally all night. All of the passengers on our deck were disturbed but no one other than the customers themselves tried to intervene and find the parents. Also, cabins were sold out so we arrived at the earliest check in time - we were third in the queue - in order to get a decent seat as we knew the ship was fully booked, but we’re then parked up in a lane that boarded last, meaning everyone else was already spread out with their bags taking up entire sofas and seats used as footstools. The ferry itself was nice and clean and the sailing smooth and prompt, the one staff member we did speak with was very polite and friendly. This would have been a decent trip if it weren’t for the lack of organisation- for a price that is 10 times that of a flight to Belfast, would have expected better.
"My family and I where very disappointed with direct ferries "
We paid direct ferries £324 this was total charge for cabin outward bound and inward bound , on our way bk stenaline ferry's told us that they had only received £257 I would like the remainder of my money bk please as a result of this we couldn't get a cabin paid
"Hygge recliners "
I honestly looked forward to catching up on sleep during the nig ht but found the recliners to be truly awful and would definitely not try them again.
" Edda Rules the Waves"
I haven't travelled by ferry to Ireland for more than 25 years, so I was astounded at the difference between the ferries of old and the present day. I travelled on the Edda and it was more like a cruise ship than a ferry. elegant, modern decor, excellent passenger facilities and super helpful crew. I could have done without the gale force conditions on my return trip, but if you do find yourslef on the Irish Sea in a November gale, there's no place better than the Stena Edda!
"Such a relaxing way to travel"
I travel regularly to Belfast. Normally by plane for the perceived convenience. This trip was a revelation check in and boarding with the car is relaxed and straight forward. Te cabin comfortable and quiet. I slept like a log both ways and arrived energised for a full day's work. Just brilliant

"Belfast to Liverpool"
So I’ve travelled with P an o Liverpool to Dublin and then travelled Belfast to Liverpool with Stena and quite confidently say that Stena winds him down very well organised very friendly staff exceptionally clean how much a great trip
"Holiday in Belfast"
The ferry was very clean and comfortable. Better to go mid week. We did the 10.30 a.m. crossing both ways with a cabin for privacy and relaxation.
"Electric car charging "
We were very low on battery , the staff level 7 were not helpful , we genuinely could not find charging in Belfast and had travelled from Westport . I think if passengers are struggling and battery is low there should be an emergency charging 3 pin plug point . It would have been a huge headache for you if we could not disembark . An idea as you have a sustainability policy . Thankyou in advance snd regards
"Perfect"
Had a bit of a wait to get on Ferry but that cannot be helped. Once onboard everything was excellent. A very people friendly ship. Directions, cabin numbers and all facilities well marked out. Had a cabin and that was very comfortable.
"Nice Ferry Experience "
We enjoyed our trip back and forth.
"Birkenhead to belfast, return"
The trip itself was amazing first time sailing also with an anxiety issue. Dont think hygge lounge is worth it, nom adjustable nor foot rests, only benefit is its quite ? Had no problems and really enjoyed my return trip. Didnt even accsess hygge on my home.
"Excellent experience with Stena"
Very enjoyable recent return trip Belfast - Liverpool with Stena. Travelled overnight to Liverpool & day sailing return. Boarding efficient and easy. Cabins excellent and ship overall had great facilities, including food, space & comfort. Will definitely use the service again. Great to have the car as opposed to flying.
"Experience of Hygge lounge"
Not designed for smaller people.Chairs not adjustable so I spent all night sliding off them . Cushions wrongly positioned I was freezing as air con too cold I just feel exhausted Would have been better led on seat in main lounge
"Liverpool to Belfast"
Cabin no soap in shower and bathroom old sanitary towels in bin from previous occupants Approx 40 mins late from departure from Liverpool and 35 minutes late from Belfast
"Relaxing "
A pleasant journey, calm conditions and helpful staff
"Excellent Ferry experience"
I was very pleased with the value for money and the facilities on my outbound and return journey. I did not have any food or encounter any staff.
"Trip to Ireland "
We crossed both ways and the crew we're very helpful friendly and welcoming
"Customer Service at Direct Ferries"
I would recommend Stena Line 100%. I wouldn’t recommend Direct Ferries - customer service is basically non existent! There was an issue with our booking and there was no way of contacting DF directly. When they responded it was a straight sorry we won’t help. Rang Stena line who dealt with it immediately and without any problem. Book direct with Stena line not DF.
"Good journeys "
Outward and homeward sailings were great, helped by very calm weather! We found the ship to be very clean with lots of room. The cabin coming home was spotless and comfortable.
"Honeymoon "
Very impressive
"Liverpool to Belfast Ferry"
The journey was very pleasant. All the staff were welcoming and helpful and the onboard facilities were very good
"Great trip"
A really efficient crossing both ways, punctiual and easy
"Excellent "
Pleasantly surprised
"Food cold twice"
I enjoyed the expience
"Excellent crossing"
My recent return crossing from Belfast was excellent. Everything from the checking in to disembarking was flawless. and the ship was very clean.
"good trip"
It was a good trip
"Ireland trip "
Lovely ship, very friendly helpful staff, Ship needs free water facilities, at £2.20 a bottle on an 8 hour trip can be quite expensive
"Beautiful and relaxing ferry"
Not sure why I have not taken the ferry before. It was fast, efficient and on time embarking/disembarking. The ferry was extremely clean and very quiet. I had booked into the recliner lounge which was very quiet, cosy and perfect for doing work. However, there was not really any need as the rest of the book had ample space and was comfortable and quiet too. Definately will travel this way again even thou it took longer than a flight for the same route.
"Birkenhead-Belfast Stenna"
Nice comfortable crossing, pleasant surrowndings
"Overnight crossing "
Very clean cabin 4 berth all slept soundly would definitely recommend an overnight crossing with a cabin, also nice breakfast
"Great facilities "
Lovely ship. Lots for kids to do (2 movie rooms, play areas, gaming area). Very friendly staff. Only one meal provided for an 8 hour sailing (travelled over with another company and had 3 meals). Food was average and prices to purchase other meals very overpriced.
"Smooth sailing"
I have had to travel on this route a few times this year after my father passed away. I have had a pleasant trip each time. And thankfully the weather has been ok meaning the crossings have been smooth. Thank you
"Birkenhead to Belfast August 2022"
We travelled overnight Birkenhead to Belfast and returned on the daytime ferry. The ferries were run very efficiently, clean, and plenty of space for passengers. We booked recliner chairs both ways - my only criticism is that they were not very comfortable, and had no adjustment mainly for the feet/legs. Otherwise the trips were perfect and I would certainly travel with Stena again..
"Feedback"
The trip going out from Birkenhead to belfast last monday .. the staff were very rude and unhelpful. The trip from Belfast back to Liverpool today.. the staff were amazing , kind and friendly. We would have preferred to pick what we want for the cooked breakfast rather than being given a plate of stuff. We only had two towels in our cabin this morning between 3 people.
"Very enjoyable tips Outward and Return"
Travelled outward on Stena Edda and Return leg on Stena Embla, both ships well organised and well equipped regarding lounges and passenger areas. Easy access to deck for fresh air and decent food in the Taste restaurants. Some of the facilities on both ships get a lot of activity so some light maintenance is required, other than that no complaints
"Get your booking right first time."
The shipping line was excellent, but Direct Ferries not so much, tried to alter booking, but couldn't alter and no phone contact made it impossible to make a required change, after several attempts managed but the wanted a further full price payment to accept the change.
"Stenaline"
Overall pretty good. The Wi-Fi was awful.
"Travel to go on holiday "
Excellent service. Phoned to check we would arrive on time. Also parked us near lifts for wheelchair access.
"Excellent Service"
From arriving and the staff having all our documentation ready, due number plate recognition, this seemed to be a professional company. We were not disappointed. Cabin for return journey was excellent. Only slight problem was that most of the active facilities closed within a short time of sailing.
"Trip to Liverpool "
Very clean ship and cabin on outbound journey to Liverpool Sadly not the same on return journey cabin bedding crumpled and not freshly made up looking Awful smell from the cabin bathroom drain
"Did not sail"
We did not sail; we had to reschedule due to Covid.
"Organise and clean"
Always on time. No problem with embarking or disembarking. Facilities are nice and clean. Will definitely recommend
"Trip to Belfast "
This is the first time I've been on a ferry in many years and I was absolutely shocked how good Stena ferries are. I booked the private lounge as well as a meal and this was fantastic. The ship is really modern with plenty of facilities and immaculately clean. As a business person I found the Internet slow, but apart from that the experience and crossing was faultless. I'll only travel with Stena from now on and can't recommend them highly enough.
"Fantastic experience "
We travelled recently as a family group to my sons wedding in Northern Ireland the trip was smooth there and back with only a slight swell facilities were great with movie restaurants and seating staff were very helpful and friendly staff will definitely use again in the future
"Birkenhead to Belfast Ferry Trip August 2022"
The boat was well equipped with places to sit and lounge about as the journey time was 8 hours. We preferred the 10.30am crossing times. There was a restaurant, bar, two cinema lounges showing films, a shop, a children's soft play area, some video gaming machines, toilets and you were able to walk on deck which was nice when the weather is good. The journey itself was pleasant and the water was not too choppy as I do not have good sea legs. Optional extras included a separate lounge area, better lounge seats or you could pay for a cabin. Prices for more comfortable seats started at £18 for private lounge area £20 and cabins at £30. However, we found there were plenty of options/places to sit comfortably without paying out more. The checking in process was easy and having the advantage of storing large cases (or cases you did not need anything from on the journey) on a van which was driven on the boat was very convenient as it meant that you did not need to carry a lot of luggage around with you on the ship. As we travelled as foot passengers we were driven on a bus to the ship which again was very handy. Take cash with you as although you can use a debit card if the Wi-Fi is not working then the only payment method available is cash. I would definitely travel with this company again.
"Great journey"
Such a lovely journey, and less hassle than flying
"Reclining sears"
These fall foul of the trades description act. They do not recline and are the most uncomfortable things for sleeping on
"Great trip! "
5 star!
"Good trip- shame about the lack of refund for the original trip"
The insurance policy is a con- unless you go to hospital - you ain't getting nothing for getting CoVid!!!!!
"Nice ship, horrible passengers"
The Stena Line ferry was much better than I expected, it was clean, modern and spacious. As it was an overnight trip, the bars & restaurants were closed for the most part so I didn’t make any use of them. I didn’t have a cabin so can’t comment on what they’re like. That’s all I can say about the ship itself really. I decided to park myself in the movie zone to relax and get some sleep after the film had finished. Unfortunately however, three middle aged women decided to disrupt everybody’s evening by talking loudly ALL throughout the night, playing music, getting drunk, swearing and using vile, racist language. This was all in front of younger teens and children by the way. When challenged by other passengers they made no attempt to move on or tone down their unacceptable behaviour. I got less than an hours sleep thanks to those three and in the end I had to get up and seek solace elsewhere. Unfortunately there were no staff around to complain to and by the time they reappeared at around 5:30am I’d already relocated and was ready to just get off the ship. Would I use the ferry again? Absolutely, as long as customers like that were nowhere to be seen. I know you can’t guarantee a decent class of customer but it does tend to taint the experience somewhat when you have to put up with anti-social, racist bigots. Other than that it was fine, my only criticism was that foot passengers had to wait 35 minutes after docking to be able to disembark the ship.
"Thoroughly enjoyable experience "
First time travelling with Stenna Line. Belfast to Liverpool and then returning. Really enjoyable trip. Would definitely use Stenna Line again. Staff helpful and friendly.
"Fantastic trip "
We went in the overnight ferry. The 4 person cabin was clean, beds really comfortable, shower good . Loading etc was well organised. Really impressed and arrived refreshed and ready to go in the morning.
"Ferry to NI. "
I found the ferry itself enjoyable, the cabin was very comfy. My only complaint was the waiting to disembark. As a foot passenger we had to wait until all cars off the ship to board a bus to take us to the terminal. This caused quite a delay. This delay was more apparent at Birkenhead side of journey.
"Great Staff! "
We did an overnight crossing to Brlfast on Embla. We couldn't book a cabin so slept on the floor we all didnt get much sleep as the chairs and bench were also full. Coming back we did a day ferry so much better. The staff were amazing and friendly. Certainly a highlight to our holiday.
"Holiday "
Great service, friendly staff.
"Easy sailing"
A new modern ship with all amenities and friendly Staff . Can not fault thank you 🙏
"Trip to Belfast"
A good trip. Food was very expensive and would have eaten into the family holiday budget. Hygge lounge recliners not at all comfortable for sitting or sleeping. Everywhere very clean.
"Stena Belfast to Liverpool"
First class service
"Does the job"
Very friendly staff, well organised and spacious and comfy areas to rest in. However the food was quite basic and not very tasty unfortunately. As there are two cinemas is could also be great to add some films that are not cartoons so there is more choice for adults.
"Great crossing "
Very relaxing day on board. We booked a cabin, kids watched movies and read. Showers were taken and a picnic lunch enjoyed. Usually get this crossing at night so that the kids sleep and wake up at their destination in great form. As there were no cabins lift when I booked had to have the daytime one. While not as time efficient it was a relaxing day to finish our holiday off. Thank you
"Easy crossing "
Sailing with Stena has always been a good experience for me. It starts with ease of booking, then quick check in and efficient loading and unloading process. On board the facilities are good and seating areas pleasant and staff very friendly and helpful.
