The luxurious Silja Serenade can carry up to 2,850 passengers and once onboard you’ll feel like you’re on a city break in the middle of Europe. In early 2014 Silja Serenade went over an 6 week makeover to enhance its luxurious travel experience. At the centre of the ship is the Promenade where you’ll find a wide variety of shops, fascinating cafés and high class restaurants. In terms of facilities the Silja Serenade is one of the finest ships in its class and meets the high standards found on all Silja ships.
There’s a huge choice of cabins onboard the Silja Serenade ranging from standard inside cabins with bunk beds to luxury suites. All cabins are en-suite, air conditioned and contain a wardrobe, hair dryer, radio and telephone. During the re-fit a couple of the major changes were made to commodore suite, lounge area and three brand new elegant junior suites added to its already outstanding range of accommodation.
Silja Serenade’s restaurants serve delicious dishes to suit all tastes. There are the incredible creations that come out of the newly refurbished Bon Vivant restaurant, the world renowned seafood platter from the Happy Lobster, or indeed the many different varieties that come from the new created Grill House. You’ll also find a beautiful Italian restaurant, Tavolàta Ristorante Italiano where the menu is stylish but also relaxed offering many portions to share, and the brand new Fast Lane restaurant, which offers both full meals, as well as quick snacks. For a bit of everything head to the Grande Buffet to fill your plate with roe, shrimps, traditional island dishes or tapas. For a snack try Mundo restaurant on the promenade. There’s no shortage of places to drink onboard the Serenade either! Promenade Bar is ideal for a relaxing drink with friends, and be sure to try out the recently renovated Sea Pub for a relaxed drink in a trendy atmosphere, with live music in the evenings. The New York Club & Lounge is a variation of a stylish lounge atmosphere and a party venue. Enjoy your favourite cocktails and listen to live piano music from the moment the ship departs. Be sure to also check out the new Starlight nightclub, which boasts incredible drinks and live entertainment every night.
The Promenade on Silja Serenade is a lively shopping street in the middle of the Baltic Sea! Visit the trendy designer shops and purchase world-famous brands at low tax-free prices. Specialist shops include Silja Tax Free for spirits, wines, beer, cigarettes, sweets and food; Silja Perfumes offers the best-known quality brands in perfumes, cosmetics and skin-care; the Fashion shop on the Promenade specialises in accessories for men and women; the Deco shop offers a range of beautiful home necessities and gifts while in the Bon Vivant wine shop you can select from the most fabulous vintage wines. "Fantastic experience "
Really pleased I took this ferry. The cabin was far better than I expected. Everything was clean and the staff were very helpful. I found all my needs were catered for.
"Taxi from port"
When we arrived in Stockholm we took a taxi into town and we were charged €100!!!. All countries have taxi drivers waiting to fleece tourists but Sweden is the only country we have been in where theft is not against the law. We won't be back.
"ups and downs"
I made two bookings within one week. the first one was smooth and went very well, the second was not so good, and got a little stressful closer to the travel dates! On the boat from Stockholm to Åland, we (me and my young boy) just needed to be on the boat and enjoy the ride for a few hours. The boat has a playground for young children, we spent our morning there, then move to the cafeteria for lunch and all was great! Food at cafeteria was great. All other restaurants were closed until 2pm, or only offering fish buffet (not best when with a small child). The second ride was a day later from Åland to Helsinki. The boat departed at midnight. The booking was not confirm but the money had been debited. I was asked if I wanted to confirm my booking, twice, and twice I confirmed before getting my confirmation email. Arriving at the harbor, my booking was under another name, my son had another nationality , in brief all personal details were mixed up! The personnel at the harbor was lovely though and really did their best to not stress us up further. Finally on the boat to discover we had the worst cabin ever under the car park deck. I wished I had been asked what type of cabin I wanted to book rather than discover this at the last minute. Additionally, the keys to the cabin did not work on first time, midnight with a child I was tired to have to run between info desk and our beds... The music from teh neighbor cabin was on until 3am. The children playground area the next morning was great once again. So in brief: easy to book but not all details about cabin types were offered. And booking system probably had a failure, which made us (the harbor personnel and myself) have a good laugh just before midnight!
"Great!"
Very nice indeed!
"Early closing of restaurant "
The restaurant named Fast Lane closed its kitchen at 9.30pm. This is too early because there was so much of a rush with diners earlier and also we eat late that we came down at 9.30 and were told we could not get a hot meal. This time is too early for a restaurant to close. They should stay open till 11pm at least.
"One of the best ferries "
Serenade and Galaxy are highly recommended
"Fabulous scenery"
Great ship, great scenery. Beware which cabin you select as it can be misleading when it says outside cabin. In our case the cabin we booked was "outside" but this only meant that it had a view to the inside promenade.
"Complete satisfaction"
The experience booking a ferry with Direct ferries was superb. The price was good. The ferry was as good as described. I was amazed at the general prices and service on board. My trip from Helsinki to Stockholm was a complete delight. I recommend this company.
"PERFECT BEGINNING - PERFECT END"
Booked a return trip from Helsinki to Stockholm as part of our family trip to Norway - thoroughly recommended way to wind down from work prior to commencing holiday and to recover after 10 days sightseeing drive though Norway on return. Good accommodation, excellent service and everything to entertain two teenage boys. I would not call it a ship - more like a floating hotel/shopping mall. Only thing to suffer was my wallet form my wife's indulgence in the excellent shopping and duty free!! :-)
"A nice but somehow not so perfect trip"
When we aborad on 8/22 on the Silja Serenade, the room, No. 10842. was totally not being made up, with the same condition that the previous guests left. Of course the front desk responds immediately and the room-keeping staffs came at once. But, can you still believe that everything was changed or maintained? The light over the right hand side was out of order. Then, on the return route, the room 8842 has a missed bulb over the left hand side light... Nevertheless, the sailing was smooth, the buffet was good. But one thing should be critiqued that the second round of buffet started at 7:30 but they started to pick up and take away food from the supplying table from 8:20. Isn't it strange? Although there was still food, but you really shouldn't pick it up only after 50 minutes.
"A Voyage to discovery"
We you enter deck 7, you are quickly amazed at what you see, mulling around on just over 700' and happy shoppers, happy eaters, and more important happy CHILDREN. The sailing certainly caterers for all sorts of people young and old. Plenty places to have a drink and a meal but I feel the GRAND BUFFET downstairs is a bit pricey, but GREAT for breakfast. Please choose your cabin carefully as a window (porthole) is a MUST. Let me repeat it MUST have a window, got that, Great! Relax and unwind, did I mention the fantastic scenery and both ends. Passing by the fortress in Helsinki (you can almost touch the battlements) are amazing; so come on board and enjoy a treat for all you senses.
"cruise for one night"
I was just looking for a ferry and ended on a full blown cruiser, basically a swimming city. You'll tons of opportunities to spend money on this ship - from the whirlpool to the night club bar. But even with a small budget - the cheapest cabins are comfortable with a own bath and a cozy bed, however located even underneath the car decks.
"Good passage"
A very enjoyable passage across the Baltic from Stockholm to Helsinki. Customer service was excellent. Accommodation was basic - a cabin with bunk beds one on top of the other (fine for me but my wife was disappointed). I can't complain here because I booked the cabin in August and was pleased with the low cost of it but on reflection I should have upgraded closer to the voyage. Anyhow, overall, job well done. I will use Silja again if we are travelling around the Baltic.
"i don't like your change of price on internet"
On internet i find one price but when i pay the price change, i don't like this.
"First tings first! "

"Wonderful experience"
Protocol for boarding was simple and efficient. Staff were at hand to assist and guide, very helpful. Facilities bin board were of a high standard. Journey overnight was smooth and afforded a very good nights sleep. Amazing experience over all. Hope to do this again.
"Beware of theft and don't get stuck in a lower cabin. Go with another company and pay a little more "
I took Tallink Silja Serenade from Helsinki to Stockholm and was at first thrilled with having saved 25 euro compared to Viking's ship. This is something i lived to regret in a big way. First, Serenade left a little bit late, no big deal. Ship is over 20 years old but looked nice. The islands were beautiful in the Baltic from Helsinki onwards and the sunset was once in a lifetime experience but i would have been better off having payed a little more for Viking i soon was to learn. MY cellphone battery died and i did nt want to go back to my cabin to charge it so i plugged it in to a socket in a public hallway near to the casino machines. I wanted one more sunset photo and i sat nearby eating a snack. After a few minutes i noticed a few people passing by where my phone was charging including an employee of the ship. I went to check on the phone and it was gone, pulled from the charger which was so kindly left behind. Brand new iPhone 6 with thousands of photos from my 6 weeks in Scandinavia was gone. i went to the front desk immediately and asked to call security. Security came and said they would review surveillance footage from a camera nearby then they would call my cabin. I expected they would see who did this and i just wanted it back. After 30 minutes i checked back with them and they told me that the camera was" not working, it was a fake" . Really? On a ship with 2,000 plus passengers everyday and they don't even use really cameras to protect passengers from criminal activity? What is someone had started a fire in the hallway and there was no camera to witness this? what is a child was kidnapped and the security would have to tell the parents that sorry the camera was no working, it is a fake. Your telling me a company like this can't afford really security?Tallink Silja make hundreds of million euros easily with their shopping on board and casinos alone. The cabin i had by the way was at the bottom of the ship, below even the car deck and the hallways stunk of previous sewage over flows. I will never go with this company again and would never recommend it to anyone who cares about their security and safety. Please pay a little more and go with a newer ship with Viking or another company.I had insurance on the phone but lost thousands of photos and other data. This is a billion euro a year company but they cut corners to maximize profits and the expense of the security of passengers.
"Nice trip"
Nice trip. First time with a ferry. Not enough to make a detailed comparison/review.
"Excellent"
What an awesome experience! An amazing journey from Stockholm to Helsinki, with a wonderful midnight sunset as highlight. Room was small (what we already expected), but clean. Friendly staff and great entertainment. We had the buffet for dinner, which I would definitely recommend.
"Quick and Easy way to travel across the Baltic"
We were on a 2 week tour of Scandinavia and were on a budget. This ferry offered us a nights accommodation and our longest distance travelled fro approx £50 each. Yes the cabin we had wasn't exactly luxurious but it was clean, had electricity to charge our electronics and an acceptable bathroom. The biggest problem that we had was receiving WIFI signal on our deck however as we wandered further up the ship this wasn't a problem. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful and could give us tips on what to do and where to go when we arrived in Stockholm. If I were to travel again I may be tempted to pay more for a better cabin but in all honesty for all the time we spent in our cabin it really was perfect for our needs!
"Lovely trip to helsinki"
This ferry had freindly crew, clean cabins and a selection of entertainment. The fare was reasonable. I would however skip the fast food, as it was attrocious... Perhaps the resteraunts are more worth the wait. Other than that the ferry trip was a lovely surprise as it is much more like a cruise...
"Nice smooth sailing"
Everyone was professional and very helpful. Ship was nice and proper
"Lovely experience"
We had recently crossed from Stockholm to Helinsinki on Silja Serenade, very nice experience. Booking was done on line and although cabins were at 2nd level ( class), those were good, no issues. Cabin was clean and bathroom was of good size. We had paid extra as made almost last minute booking, i am sure if you book well in advance, can be more economical. The check - in process was efficient and the staff were helpful. Although the weather was not warm that night, so were unable to use the deck and missed the sun set or rise. Although the dinner buffet looked good, we ate in a restaurant and had the best veggie burger. There are many restaurants and food choices, Atlantis and New York with live shows and music. The terminal for Silja is Olympia in Helisinki and you can IA or 2A metro to the central station. Tourist information is about 10 mins walk , close to Viking terminal and have very nice food in the tents. Will recommend Silja over a flight or viking line due to their renovated /new ferries.
"Stockholm to Helsinki"
I had a wonderful time on the ship. Everything you need is on it and great entertainment.
"Smooth sailing "
I was very happy with the cabin and the service
"Excellent experience"
Nice and confortable cruise ship, excellent staff, lot's of fun, confortable cabins. Affordable price
"Our Ferry Trip, Helsinki to Stockholm."
We really enjoyed the trip. The ferry was much better than we expected. It was almost like a cruise ship. Our cabin was nice and functional, and we enjoyed the intertainment on board.
"Great over all"
Helsinki to Stockholm with motorcycle. We booked through Direct ferries and got different options on the website for an advantageous price. The serive onboard was great, great food especially for me as I'm a vegetarian. All staff was very friendly och competent which I among other things liked when we were parking our motorcycles.
"Nice trip on board the Silja Seremade"
Nice reception with a good photographer who makes nice photographs, Nice cabin, better than expected for economy class. Good-sized beds with good mattresses, very comfortable. Onboard entertainment was fun and for very reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Nice ship, luxuriously furnished.
"Great overnight"
The absolute best way to travel between Stockholm and Finland!
"Spectacular journey"
Ship very well fitted and with plenty of food and entertainment options - very much like a cruise liner in approach. Car loading and unloading time consuming. Italian restaurant pleasant and cabin comfortable. Shops and entertainment choices interesting and enjoyable.
"Silja Serenade/ Symphony"
A very pleasent trip on Silja Serenade and Silja Symphonie! Entertainment, shopping and food. Pleased with everything!
"St.Hel."
Det was very good.
"Nice trip"
We had a nice sailing in beautiful summer weather, so we sat on deck long into the night! We had a 4 berth cabin on deck two and that worked very well for us.
"friendly staff and professional service"
We recently travelled between stockholm and helsinki; the trip was very enjoyable due to the staff on the boat that were professional and friendly. A great experience and one that I would recommend to others.
"Excellent trip with Serenade"
Had an Excellent trip from Stockholm to Helsinki with a friendly staff! Steinar Bjørnstad Will go with you again!
"Helsinki-Stockholm "
All excellent. We have no complaints.
"Experience with Tallink Silja"
We travelled twice with Tallinn Silja from Stockholm to Helsinki and return. It was a great experience, we would make this trip again, when we will have the opportunity, the staff were kind and helpful, we slept in a cheap but comfortable ensuite cabin, everything was tidy and clean at very convenient price.. we were satisfied.
"A wonderful introduction to cruising"
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip from Stockholm to Helsinki from the moment we realised how simple it was to board, and our personal greeting and directions to our cabin - not half as daunting as we suspected. Our cabin was spacious and comfortable, the choice of restaurants would suit all budgets, service was friendly and helpful, and our breakfast was indeed "special" and memorable. Everything ran to schedule with no delays. We had a truly nice time, and best of all - did not suffer from mal de mer, thanks to the smooth sailing of the ship.
"FERRY PORT LISTING"
After arriving in Helsinki, I realized the directions for the terminals for the both the ferry to Estonia and Stockholm were not provided. I found the Estonia ferry which was listed as Tallink Silja but Stockholm was at another terminal call Silja in another location. So in the future can you include the ferry location for both.
"Floating shopping and nightlife district "
It was fun, table reservation for dinner highly recommended!
"Great Crossing "
Nice that the giant ferries have to drive slowly in the archipelago, we have enjoyed.
"Baltic Princess "
Very nice place to tour through the Finnish archipelago!
"Excellent time on Silja"
We took our children to Silja Line for one night, Stockholm to Helsinki. This was their first time on a ferry and they absolutely loved it! Facilities are excellent and there are so many activities/facilities for kids that as a family, it's a fabulous experience. Food was delicious (we had a buffet and even had a sea view!), it's clean and everything works as it should. Cabin was slightly on a small side but we expected that. Not a problem as we weren't there to spend time in the cabin! That said, it had all the basic facilities we could need and shower was brilliant. Definitely recommend to everyone.
"Our trip"
We enjoyed very much. It was perfect.
"Silja ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki"
Excellent value for money. Pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful landscapes.
"A Hotel Afloat"
The check-in at Helsinki was painless. The cabin was incorrect but was changed without too much trouble. The journey overnight was peaceful. The evening meal was excellent as was the breakfast prior to arriving in Stockholm. The terminal in Helsinki was centrally located, although the terminal in Stockholm was well out of town. It was an excellent way to travel between the two cities.
"Excellent crossing"
Quick boarding and disembarkment with the car. The reception on board was pleasant. The catering is good (you need to book) at the buffet Serenade. External cabin 4 seats: OK The Stockholm archipelago is gorgeous.
"A very good prestation"
This prestation matched our expectations
"Helsinki-Stockholm-Helsinki, Tallink-Silja, Silja Serenade"
One of the finest ferries in the Baltic Sea. Price category allowed only the low cost cabin below the car decks, but they are still clean and fine for sleeping.
"Excellent"
We got an excellent journey with Silja Serenade! Full points from everyone!
"Great journey"
This journey was fantastic. Lots of stuff to do, and it was very easy for us to keep our two young kids entertained for the entire evening.
"Wonderful overnight voyage"
We had sunshine for our 5 p.m. departure, so the view of Helsinki from the harbour was wonderful. The sunset was grand, and the morning arrival into Stockholm through the little islands along cruise ship alley was remarkable. The cabin was comfortable and quiet and our family of four got a good sleep. Also, the price was reasonable. The whole voyage cost about as much as a night of lodging. Well worth it. Highly recommended.
"Ferry Stockholm-Helsinki with Tallink Silja-Line "
Our crossing Stockholm-Helsinki was great. ride through the Stockholm archipelago with a drink in his hand was a ship Silja Serenade dream. is very nice, and there are many options available. Since the direct booking did not work out at Tallink Silja, I have booked with direct ferries, which worked out well.
"Ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki"
Lovely sail, very quiet and nice, great food at the buffet and staff was very helpful. Room was below the cars however, so it would have been nice to see a floor plan of the ship prior to booking so see where we were going to sleep. My wife was claustrophobic on level 2.
"Bathroom"
It's good overall. However, the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly for my inbound trip. Someone apparently bled heavily in it. There were a lot of blood stains on the floor and in the sink, etc.
"My first trip to Finland by car"
When coming from the Netherlands and you have left the misery of the German motorways behind you will have a beautiful journey ahead of you. After which you can rest and enjoy the facilities aboard the Silja Line boat, Serenade, from Stockholm. In calm weather the journey is hardly noticeable. Only when there's a nightly stop-over there's a chance of being awoken. Generally it's a pleasant journey, nice food, a selection of different restaurants, shops, swimming pool, ect. However, when one is disabled or elderly E class is not ideal because of the bunk beds. All in all highly recommended nonetheless.
"A four weeks trip to Scandinavia"
I'm very satisfied with this crossing. The cabin was confortable. The meal was worth of a gourmet recent. A good value for money.
"Voyage from Stockholm to Helsinki"
The ship we sailed on was really top quality this was evident when comparing it to the trip from Harwich to Eijsberg. On the afore mentioned ferry we were at a loss as to what to do and what more there appeared no communal areas. Where as on the Tallin ferry there appeared a selection of places where one could sit and feel comfortable. One gripe I had was the apparent lack of provision for strapping down our motorcycle. However the price difference was amazing something like a quarter of the Harwich ferry. It cost us around £80 for a cabin for two and motorcycle. All round a nice experience.
"My own experience"
I thought my overall experience was very good, i look forward to travelling again.
"Fine experience"
Journey with Tallink has been a fine experience. The ship was clean and well equipped. However, I was a little worried about safety. In Denmark, motorcycles always strap fixed, even for short voyages. The Tallink do not - although Tallink should pay special attention to safety.
"Fabulous Trip Stunning Scenery"
What an absolutely wonderful way to travel, the scenery along the route was stunning. Good clean ferry and lots to do for all.
"Nice trip"
First time I'd been on an overnight ferry. Enjoyed it very much and didn't want to get off. Cabin was very good, clean and respectable. Next time I'm in Scandinavia I will definitely travel by ferry again.
"Cabin"
We chose a luxury outside cabin but somehow ended up in an one that wasn't so nice.
"Fantastic ferry!"
I''ve been on the Serenade to travel from Helsinki to Stockholm and was very impressed: it''s like a real little city and the entertainment, food and cabin were great! Would definitely love to travel on it again...
