"Trip to Roscoff"
We had a very pleasant trip across to Roscoff and the staff and crew were very friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. Food on board was fantastic. Looking forward to our next trip/

"Ecellent Service "
I have traveled with others in the past but the overall service of this ship was excellent . I have no negative comments to make at all .
"I. Did not go "
I did not go to Brittany
"Good crossing, thanks."
Great to be back on the Pont Aven after too many years not visiting France! Very friendly staff, good catering, lots of space for everyone on board. Extra entertainment provided by the hi speed jets which kept flying past!
"Plain sailing "
Very pleasant even with a rough crossing
"Plymouth to Roscoff trip"
Confusion when boarding from Plymouth. Surely as a safety aspect it would be better if foot passengers embarked before cars etc embark?
"Roscoff to Plymouth 17 9 22"
Approximately 1 hour delay leaving boat due to technical problems
"Plymouth to Roscoff return "
Very good across all areas
"Longer trip than advertised"
Our trip from Roscoff to Plymouth was advised our booking email to be around 6 hours 10 minutes in duration. The journey took a whole 2 hours longer than this as the ferry was only moving at 12 knots. It was a real drag of a journey and we were extremely late getting to our destination because of it. Not a route I would travel on again.
"Great way to travel to and from Ireland "
Beautiful ships. Quick and uncomplicated boarding and arrival. Friendly staff
"passport delays uk "
Arrival times not as stated , Long delays in passport control in UK
"trip to France"
ship was clean staff professional and courteous facilities on board where excellent and the food was of a good standard, the only point I would make is passport control was a little slow but that of course is not down to the ferry operation
"Roscoff to Plymouth "
Overall excellent trip. The cabin was clean and ready for us. The staff in shops and at the restaurant were was polite and useful. Ship was relatively on time but british customs are a problem on this line... take far too much time and waited over an hour to get through. Systems like Eurotunnel are much more efficient and would be nice to see something similar with brittany ferries
"A pleasure to be aboard the Armorique "
Boarding in both directions was easy. Unfortunately there were no cabins left for the night crossing but there was plenty of room to stretch out on on of the many padded benches.
"Great car ferry experience"
Friendly and efficiently run Fench ship. All went to plan. Clean boat, comfy cabins. We traveled in Peak season but the boat never felt overcrowded. Food and drink prices not excessive.
"Traveling Roscoff - Plymouth"
Everything was fine, except the noise of the air-conditioning in the cabin of the night ferry was terrible.
"Travel France Ireland Summer 2022"
Very positive experience, since the booking to the travel. to be underline the level of cleaning of the cabin, very high.
"Smooth sailing"
I travelled from Plymouth to Roscoff and back again. I was a foot passenger. I used the overnight ferry from Plymouth. I had booked a cabin. A bit disappointed to see on kettle or coffee/tea making facilities nor a hairdryer in the cabin. TBH I was expecting that, Ferry arrived on time. On the way back I travelled during the day. All staff were lovely and friendly. We were a bit late getting back but maybe the wind was not behind us! They did have plenty of free entertainment for children which is really good as it can be a bit boring for them. They also had 2 cinemas with I think 3 different films available which is a good time killer!
"Perfect way to start holiday"
Great way to start the holiday. Clean, great service, friendly staff
"Stress free crossing, great staff"
Have been on this ferry before, Brittany Ferries have helpful staff and clean facilities, we had a great crossing, thanks

"Overnight ferry to roscoff"
Lovely ferry, quick check in. Reserved seating not comfortable or quiet we just found a sofa seat in main bit and lay down, would suggest having a cabin we booklast minute so they were all gone.
"Top service"
Brittany ferries always deliver! Friendly staff, great boats, I choose Brittany Ferries over any other ferry company
"All good"
All the staff were helpful. Food was fine, plenty of entertainment for kids.
"Happy to use this crossing again "
Really nice crossing, great staff and great ferry, just a bit pricey
"Plym-Ros"
Happy to get on the ferry. Next time I will definitely need a cabin
"Sailing"
We had a pleasnt voyage from Plimouth to Roscoff. We were satisfied in every aspect
"love Brittany Ferries"
From the moment you step onboard you feel you are in France and your holiday can begin. We love Brittany Ferries! The staff are helpful and beautifully French!!
"Peaceful journey in the ferry "
Enjoyed my trip was relax,a lot of entertainment for everybody.
"All good"
Not too clean. No soap at start of journey in ladies loo. Food was OK and not expensive at all.
"Great service"
Comfortable cabin on our overnight crossing from Plymouth. Breakfast was adequate and well presentecy. Very quickly off the boat, through customs and on our way. The return trip was just as efficient. The boat was not too busy and there were plenty of seats available. Duty free was quite expensive so glad we'd bought in the supermarket on the way home! Top tip, rather than but the expensive mineral water on board just ask the bar staff to top up your water bottles. They are happy to do so. Off reasonably quickly in Plymouth and soon heading home.
"bon voyage"
Although dearer than hopping across the channel from Dover (obviously taking into account the distance and time element) there is an element of relaxation and when faced with a long drive the other side this really helps to prepare for that. The crew are superb and always helpful. The food available is wholesome and quite filling all in all a pleasant experience the only drawback is the queuing to go through immigration on a hot day but totally necessary.
"Travel with Kids from Plymouth to Roscoff"
Everything was good but the begining; the Snackbar in Plymouth was closed and there was no way to buy something salty befor 9.30pm as we couldn't enter the ship before. we had to be there by 8pm but waited for 2 hours...and there was no information that the gap betweeen check in (you must check in 90 min beforehand latest) and boarding.
"Great Crossing"
It was like a mini cruise and got our continental holiday off to a super start!
"All at sea "
All very easy to use and nice big spaces for sit down.
"Great trip"
Great trip. Clean. Good food and drinks. Nice staff.
"Poor customer service at the call centre."
I constantly tried for 10 days to call customer services and failed. J sent an email that too was not answered. To be told at plymouth check in by a member of staff that BF has the worst record for answering call was a shock. What was equally surprising was being told 30 extra staff had been taken on to answer calls but not mine! The food was second rate but the customer service on board was good. Very disappointed.
"Absolutely Dire. Do NOT bother with this company as you too will be disappointed."
booked my journey with these people as thought I was getting a good deal. All went fine until I had an issue. The issue was my car, as it went bonkers and I needed to register a different car to go on my journey with. I called this company to change my car registration details but for 5 days could not get through as they had an autimated service that repeatedly told me their phone lines were down and inaccessible. I was so worried as I needed to change the car registration, I sent them 2 emails, as this was my only option, but nobody conatcted me. Yes, they sent me emails on things I would need to take and things I would need to do before embarking but no reply to my issue. Their website will tell you that the easiest option to change boarding options is to do it online. I tried this, was told there would be an administration fee of £39.00 to change my registration but could not change these details online, however much I tried to. I was so worried about this that I called Brittany Ferries directly and they told me not to worry as they would put on my ticket that the registration would be 'to be confirmed'. Brittany Ferries put my mind at ease and I actually saved £39.00 administration fee that I would have had to pay if I had actually managed to get through to this ignorant and unscrupulous company. Don't bother with them as they will not reply to any queries you have and like me, will make you sweat. From here on in I will book my ticket with Brittany Ferries direct. Please do not misconstrue the below message as Brittany Ferries are fantastic, it's Direct Ferries that are horrendous. Brittany Ferries will bend over backwards to help you, Direct Ferries do nothing for you and are just in it for the money - never again!
"This review has nothing to do with the ship (Armorique) that I travelled on but the company I bought"
Direct Ferries - don't bother. They're in it for the money and do not have your interests at heart. They will try and blame Brittany Ferries - they are not to blame. Do not take the following as verbatim. Brittany Ferries are brilliant and no affiliation to this unscrupulous company.
"Very good"
I had a great journey, no issues, just relax onboard. Cinema was a great touch I didn't expect
"Roscoff to Plymouth"
Very smooth trip, comfortable and clean
"very calm crossing"
fabulous service from Brittany. Highly recomend
"Disgraceful "
The French government changed their legislation one day before the ferry left The UK to stop the transit of UK citizens who are EU residents through France. Brittany Ferries did not notify passengers of this change and we were turned away at the border by French police and sent back to the UK. Brittany Ferries charged us for the return trip
"All good"
Very good.
"St Malo - Portsmouth"
Al was OK but not when should leave the ship with the car. Some technical problem occurred and we had to wait 50 minutes. No proper information was given. Really poor.
"An enjoyable mini cruise! "
We picked a western Channel overnight crossing so as to catch up with family in the SW and W of England. The diagonal drive across France, from the Rhone, via the Loire, was most agreeable. A bit anxious about covid/brexit paperwork, we missed the chance to explore St Malo, sadly, and got to the port early. Check in and Boarding were fine, albeit a bit leisurely. On board was most pleasant. We enjoyed a good meal, and the cabin was efficient and comfortable. The crew were very helpful and welcoming.
"Refused boarding"
I'll never book with Brittany ferries again. I lost a whole day when they refused my porter boarding due to not entertaining his 2nd covid jab. We were transport ffs, let it go. Blimey, just change me over to Freight, but NO, gotta open an account . This company have just cost me around £700.00. Don't book with them. Please, there too ' by the book ' . No discretion whatsoever.
"Ciara blew all she could, Armorique just sailed through it all"
good ship with friendly crew. Well stabilised, too: difficult to walk about in that storm, but good ventilation etc equals no sea sickness
"Trip from Roscoff to Plymouth "
The outward journey was a little rough due to the cabin lay out of two beds one of which was in the roof and needed ladders to access it the inward journey was much better and even though the weather was rough still very enjoyable will definitely use direct ferries again first class service.
"Great way to travel"
The journey to France was lovely, we went to sleep and woke up there, the journey back was choppy however the services were still good, the only problem was at the exit of Plymouth, it took over an hour to get through passport control, why would you only have two lanes open out of the 4 available for a whole ship?
"Organizational disaster"
First, just two hours before departure from Roscoff i receive an email saying the original 13:50 departure is re-scheduled to depart at 15:00. Do far no problem. But the 13:50 service left anyway and the 15:00 service doesn’t exist. Stranded in Roscoff and business meeting in UK canceled. Now i have to call different parties blaming eachother because i want to know who will take care of the extra hotel costs. Now, next day i take the ferry to Plymouth, pleasant journey, no complaints. Untill arrival. Eaving the ferry we’re all standing still for an hour, not clear why. Definately my last crossing with this company.
"Communications"
The only suggestion I have is that on the outward trip to Roscoff from Plymouth there was a considerable delay in embarcation, which did not begin until 1.00am, instead of 21.00 hours. This was perfectly understandable given the weather conditions previously, but nothing was explained while we were waiting, and no port official seemed able to help, though they must have known what was happening. Could there be a notice board somewhere, or at least someone with the responsibility to tell the public what's happening, the next time this situation arises, please? Otherwise we were very happy with the ferry crossings both ways.
"Shame about the cinema"
Great trip can't fault anything apart from the cinema. Seating is appalling. If you are anything below 5 foot and not sat in the front row you can not see. My husband had to endure 2 hours with our daughter sat on a booster seat.....on his lap! I am 5 foot and I had to sit with an extremely uncomfortable booster seat in order to see. It should be made clear when buying cinema tickets that if you are under 5 foot you should not bother going as you won't be able to see. We made the attendant aware of this he spoke to someone asking for a cushion but to no avail. We were not the only ones who suffered due to this. Hence the low stars for general facilities otherwise this would have been 4-5 star,
"Roscoff to Plymouth"
Overall a good experience, ferry departure was changed to an earlier to an earlier time , but the communication was sent with plenty of time to make adjustments. Staff were friendly and the ship was spotlessly clean, we ate on the ferry and the was plenty of choices and the food was good. Good entertainment for younger kids onboard, duty free was well stocked. loads of room and the channel was like a mill pond. Overall a good experience
"First timer on Ferry"
I really wasn't sure what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised with all the facilities and great customer service on the ship. There was plenty of entertainment for the kids including free face painting and great magic shows. Didn't try the food but it all looked fantastic and very reasonable prices. would be very happy to travel with Brittany Ferries again.
"Over night"
It's a good way to travel but you need to get a cabin as the seats are very uncomfortable and it's very cold. The breakfast needs cooking better. I normally go from Poole what is so much better than the over night.
"In the face of adversity "
We unfortunately were stuck in fog off the coast of Plymouth yesterday and were delayed overnight as the port authority would not let us dock but the staff really worked their socks off to get us all a cabin food and water cannot speak too highly of them , no mess just sorted all the problems calmly and quickly full marks
"Never book through direct ferries "
I booked a crossing to Roscoff from Plymouth and paid additionally for hook up to my freezer van. I had thousands of pounds worth of froze goods on board. I was refused power initially on board . Direct ferries assured me it was no problem but the staff on the ferry said Itwas not possible. It was only after some begging and pleading that I got power No thanks go direct ferries. Next time I’ll book direct through Brittany ferries
"Plymouth-Roscoff-Plymouth"
We stayed in a cabin on the way out on the overnight 22:00 - 08:00 (both times local) and this was the best way to travel - cabin was clean with en suite and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good - could have done with some non-dairy options. A similarly pleasant experience was had on the return journey, but this time with plenty of seating (mid-afternoon crossing) and good food in the restaurant (more vegetarian options could be made available). All-in-all, a very civilised way to travel and an enjoyable journey for us both. Thank you.
"Ferry "
Armorique and Port Aven , both pleasant trips, Staff and services was good on both ,
"Pleasant voyage."
The crew were very friendly and we had a pleasant meal on both crossings. The loading in Plymouth was slow but the return trip from Roscoff was extremely quick. Our cabin was very comfortable.
"Ferry "
The Ferry was very clean and comfortable. There was a lot of food choices and the prices were reasonable. The staff were very approachable.
"Taking a dog on the ferry"
The staff in the Information desk were very helpful in organising a half way visit to our car to check on our dog - who was asleep and fine. They were kind and reassuring . I was however concerned at the car alarms going off near dogs as their hearing is so sensitive. Could the information about how to avoid car alarms going off be given more clearly, including in a written format/poster or leaflet? When we were parking our car the loudspeaker system could not be heard clearly as there was so much unavoidable noise and clanking from the cars being directed in. Maybe information could be given when booking so that car drivers can look into how to switch of their particular car alarm system.
"Response to request for review"
No complaints, except on the return journey they had run out of the pizza that I had hoped for
"1 plus wheelchair travelers "
First time travellers and found that everyone was very helpful especially being as 1 of us was a wheelchair user. The cabin was easily accessible and comfortable. Would travel with Brittany ferries again
"Overnight trip "
My husband and I really enjoyed our trip. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful.
"Generally good "
Great facilities, especially appreciated everything that was available to occupy little kids. The cabin was spacious and had a shower in the bathroom, an unexpected benefit. However we would have appreciated knowing in advance that we would have to vacate cabin 30 minutes before arrival, as it was very tricky to get organised with two under-3s and we felt a bit harassed by staff. Perhaps it was written somewhere but we missed it, perhaps it should be more obvious. The other thing was that it was not obvious when we could return to the car, as we missed announcements (due to above) and the door to call level was open, resulting in marital rows as husband thought if door was open we could go. I was right, of course ;-)
"Excellent Service to/from Roscoff"
Extremely enjoyable and hassle free trip to Rosciff courtesy of Brittany Ferries. Arriving about 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled check in time on both occasions, we were treated to easy and straight forward embarkation on to the Armorique and were soon relaxing in the spacious lounges. The vessel was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly, smartly dressed and very attentive. Would definitely recommend this service to anyone undecided about how to get to western France.
"Great service"
Excellent! Very clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Checking in plus embarking and disembarking was very fast and hassle free both ways. Woukd definately recommend.
"good times"
excellently smooth journey. no food available on the over night ferry but a bar for drinks. clean facilities. quiet and calm so children slept. maybe a bit more recline to the seats with more foot rest.
"Good crossing"
Last minute booking very efficient and lovely crossing. Would be nice if english breakfasts were served on board as well as conti nental
"Calendar error "
The ferry device operates well. We were texted in the day of the journey to warn us the ferry was running late so we were able to adjust our timings. The facilities on board cater for the different types of customers. When I booked I made a simple mistake on the month calendar and had to therefore change the date straightaway from August to September. I was charged £100 for the mistake which I felt was an unreasonable administrative fee.
"Great Holiday Experience!"
The perfect way to start your holiday, and the best way to wind down at the end... we will probably doing the same next year.
"Excellent craft "
The ship was excellent and the facilities were pretty amazing. The staff put up with my American ignorance of things nautical quite well and were conversant in English and French. The ship was a little slow to finish, boarding and debarking, but it may have been the large number of summer travelers.
"Easy and like clockwork "
Brilliant, everything was top notch. Hugely satisfied and enjoyable
"Roscoff/Plymouth"
Sorry Too EXPENSIVE and too LONG Roscoff /Plymouth and I need to go to France in Sept perhaps try Dover /Calais
"Cruising!"
Lovely Ferries, clean, comfortable, helpful and friendly staff.
"Delays always on the UK side"
We travelled on Amourique. A well laid out vessel, with friendly helpful staff, except the chef's assistant who seemed a bit dour. Why is it always sport shown on the TVs dotted around the ship. Departure and arrival are normally on schedule, but we find boarding and customs are always slowest at the Plymouth end.
"Travel on sea "
.
"Delay"
The ferry was delayed by 5hours although we were told Straight away . It had an impact on my journey . I had a hotel booked in Bristol to Where I arrived at 2 am. And I still have a 8 hours drive journey to aberdeen tomorrow . Not really impressed by that when I had plenty of time ahead of me I order to be safe and rested . That late arrival Could have an impact on the safety of my trip due to the late delay and therefore late arrival At my hotel. Regards Gaëlle Conjaud
"Good service, but huge queue for UK border control on return to Plymouth"
We crossed overnight to Roscoff and returned 5 days later during the daytime. We booked a club class cabin for the night crossing which felt rather small, but then I didn't see the non club class cabins! It did have a window and tea making facilities and a bathroom (even got 4 free tea bags!) . Food on board was very good and well priced. Staff were helpful. Overall a so much nicer way to travel than flying. On the return to Plymouth, the UK border control resulted in a long queue to get off the ferry (over an hour). Ferry arrived 9:30pm, we didn't get going till 10:45pm, I think that the border control needs more lanes for cars and more staff.
"Direct ferries"
The Brittany ferry part of the crossing was very good, however making alterations to the booking was not If you book direct with Brittany they will not charge you Direct ferries charged me to add a cycle to the booking and to amend the date Wish I had booked with Brittany
"Bad experience"
The boat was 3 hours delayed because Santander's boat and because tide but on the boat we never receive right information : staff says 1/ 23h30,instead 21h30, then 2/ 20h then 3/ 23h, then 4/ 23h59... so it was impossible to inform people who were waiting for us in Plymouth. I don't accuse problems but bad information!
"Great"
Excellent had a great nights sleep in a very comfy bed, woken by gentle music.
"Good trip with 3 year old child"
We travelled overnight to France. Cabin (4 berth) was a good size. Bigger than I have experienced on a ferry previously. Very clean well maintained. On the trip home we were entertained by Curley the Clown. He was fantastic. His show was perfect for my preschooler. Food in the restuarant was okay. What was to be expected on a ferry. Only criticism was that paying at the tills took too long. Not enough staff. My food got cold while waiting to pay so I had to back and get new food for family. Would I travel on the service again? Yes.
"A game of two halves"
Onto the Armorique at Plymouth, everyone friendly and efficient as usual, up to our cabin, clean and tidy, but a slightly odd almost chemical smell - had they changed the cleaning chemicals? No. No. By the end of the night the bathroom was somewhat malodorous and it was beginning to pervade the cabin itself. So we beat an early retreat for breakfast, where we lost a rather expensive water bottle, received mixed levels of interest and concern from staff and were compensated with a two litre bottle of water (did they understand the problem?) On the return trip I decided to try again at the customer services desk and, with the usual prompt efficiency the bottle was triumphantly produced. Boarding at Roscoff on the way back was not Brittany Ferries usual slick operation, positioning on the car decks was a bit chaotic and they didn't appear to know where they wanted to put me and didn't even see the 9C sticker at first! However, we were near enough to the lift for me to be able to manage with my elderly, blind husband so all was well. That is, until dinner time - who on earth puts crab in coleslaw? Even if it is the fake stuff (surimi). Well, I am both vegetarian and allergic to crab - big fail on two fronts! I stopped eating it as soon as I hit the fishy taste, but even fake crab had me unwell for the next six to eight hours - food needs labelling properly Brittany!! I will still travel with Brittany again. There have been too many good times for one bad trip to put me off, but a letter will be written and I hope they will take appropriate action.
"Almost perfect"
The overall experience was as usual , excellent. The staff and crew on the Armorique were without exception polite , friendly and professional. Especially when faced with some truly rude and obnoxious British passengers that made me feel ashamed to be British. I have witnessed this behaviour on numerous occasions. Each time it is handle with total professionalism. My only complaint was that on the return trip the lasagne I chose was under cooked and the sauce had separated .
"Excellent journey with Brittany Ferries"
We recently crossed between Plymouth and Roscoff, return journey over a one week period. Both crossings were smooth and on time. Getting out at the Plymouth end took quite some time due to the number of cars but the overnight crossing was really painless. Food is really good and reasonably priced. Same with drinks. Overall a really pleasant journey!
"Easy and like clockwork "
Everything was fine and ran like clockwork. Simple and easy to use. Really enjoyable crossing
"Good trip"
Brittany Ferries Armorique was efficiently run. We had a cabin on the outward night voyage which was worth the money, giving a chance of sleep before arriving in Roscoff at 8am. Return journey we booked a reclining seat as it was day time. Both ferries ran on time though there was a slight delay disembarking at Plymouth. Food looked good on board. We took our own but I would buy on board next trip. I will book this again on our return to Roscoff
"Expensive"
Sent a review already stating how expensive B/F are , will use another company , Dover?
"Boring and expensive"
Would liketo see another Ferry operator operate from Plymouth to Roscoff and speed it up and not be so expensive, £200 one way for us Motorhomes . Dover here I come. Unhappy G Edwards
"Cruising home"
Excellent very clean ship . Enjoyed a calm 7 hr cruise home from holiday . Excellent facilities and sat on the deck for 5 hrs of the trip . Easy swift embarking and disembarking . Excellent way to get to France.
"Problem free... what I'd expect"
Easy boarding, good facilities, excellent prawns for meal and rather chewy battered cod but can't complain at the price.
"Amorique"
excellent service lovely ferry
"Pleasant crossing"
Always enjoy Brittany Ferries. Good facilities. Clean room lead to a relaxing trip across. Would recommend them to anyone. This time, there was onl;y one person on the bar for the first hour which wasn't enough. Other than that, it was good as usual.
"Brittany Ferries Plymouth to Roscoff"
All very positive
"Handling of luggage."
We liked the ship. It was clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food served was good. Our only complaint was the exit route at Plymouth harbor. As walk-on passengers, we had to drag our suitcases down a steep staircase. Really? You couldn’t have a luggage ramp! Or better yet, collect luggage at check-in and have a pick up point in the terminal.
"Long weekend break "
Great ship, service that all ran perfectly on time. The staff onboard were very pleasant and helpful. Brilliant service altogether and we can’t wait to go back again. Thank you for making our trip start and finish in style.
"Trip home"
Not many people on board to previous trips with bf which probably helped with the review
"Review on my journey."
My travelling experiance with Direct Ferries.
"Plymouth to Roscoff return "
Excellent fuss free crossing with exceptional staff onboard. Highly recommend
"First trip via Roscoff"
First trip via Roscoff. Straight forward crossing. I liked being boarded early in France rather than the long wait in UK. Cabins and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Not so keen on the food but adequate given the numbers catered for. Long queues for food was a little off putting. Staff very pleasant and helpful
"A cumulative judgement from several crossings."
I like your service (although a bit expensive). However: You advertise quiet seating areas. Two of the lounges were blighted by the shrieking of young (private school) boys. I mentioned this to the person on duty at the information desk and was promptly 'put in my place'. She told me that the school had booked ONE lounge (i.e. it's about money again). Punctuality is a matter of opinion. For instance, what does 'arrival' mean? Sighting land....docking.....disembarkation....or release from the port. (Obviously, I appreciate that you have no control over the immigration authorities)....but it is impossible for your arrival timings to be adhered to so why not just admit it. I will probably travel Brittany Ferries again and you will ignore this assessment but.....have a nice day! Best wishes Mike Day
"Brittany Ferries"
The whole experience of booking, travelling and crossing from France to the U.K. with Brittany Ferries is good. My only complaint is that if one lives in the Southwest of France the 7 hour driving to Roscoff is very long and tiring. The crossing from France to the U.K. is limited to just one choice -22:00 arriving in the U.K. after an 8 hour ferry trip at 8:00am the following morning. I feel that Brittany Ferries should look at 1) more sociable hours 2) adding a service from Bordeaux to Plymouth especially since there are some 800 thousand British citizens living in this area. I am sure there would be lots of interest in this route both for private and business use.
"Good trip"
Good trip. Brittany ferries reserved seat number was useless (they double booked my seat) but as was quiet there were plenty of other seats.
"brittany ferries Plymouth to Roscoff"
very good crossing
"Perfect."
Absolutely 1st class!
"Ruined by noisy kuds"
I travel this journey regularly and thankfully had a cabin on the outbound stretch. The return was ruined by groups of school children, totally unsupervised, running around the ship, shouting, screeching and being very annoying- 6 hours of that was awful and made my journey most uncomfortable. Then we also had to deal with a late departure/arrival at Plymouth- much prefer the early morning Ferries to Plymouth rather than a 15.30 departure.
"Great Ferry Service"
Travelled on the Friday night service from Plymouth to Roscoff. Arrived at the port after work on the Friday. Check-in was simple and there was not much of a wait. The ferry was very clean and had plenty of amenities for our trip. We booked a cabin for two people and it was comfortable and quiet. The bar had a good option of drinks and the breakfast restaurant was exactly what we needed just before our arrival in Roscoff. On arrival, we departed from the ship nice and quickly. The staff at both ports and on the ship made sure everything ran smoothly and quickly. Little expensive, but exactly what we needed.
"LandRover Discovery"
Well organised trip, excellent facilities but need to agree if a Land Rover Discover is classed as a standard car and not keep measuring at each port.
"Comfortable, clean and efficient"
No problems. Ship on time, but allow 20 minutes to disembark after arrival. Meat dish which was previously cooked and kept warm was a bit dry, but fish and chips were freshly cooked and very good.
"Nice trip."
Everything was okay nice trip.pleasent staff
"Not very pleased"
Lot of prblems, roof damaged when sent to higher deck with less headroom, got stuck damaged roof, and ladder. Then 4 or more workers jumped up and down on the cycle rack to free van, and completely broke rack. 2nd Captain came and filled in damage form.We went to alloted cabin, and it had not been cleaned, dirty used bedding and empty bottles everywhere, went back to information and they moved us. Not a good start to our trip. Would reccommend ship but had problems.
"very good"
I found the sailings both ways a pleasant experience and would not hesitate to go again. We had a crossing cancelled due to bad weather and the staff on the phone where very helpful in rescheduling or outbound journey
"Plymouth to Roscoff"
Good service
"Awesome!"
Dover - Calais never again
"Thamkyou"
I had got the time of the crossing wrong and we were one hour late. Everyone was very helpful, we had four dogs to check in too! Thankyou
"Good Service smooth crossing "
We had smooth crossings to Plymouth & Back to Roscoff all the staff where very efficient and the service we received was very good. We had no complaints what soever Thank you
"First timers"
Delighted with our first ferry crossing from Roscoff to Plymouth. The whole process was hassle free and very easy.
"Wrong times on ticket!"
I was particularly disappointed by the service offered by Direct Ferries: indeed, due to tides, the scheduled times of Ferries leaving from Brittany to UK vary along the year. This can be easily read off on the Companies websites, but Direct Ferries does not update its schedules accordingly. l was expected to leave at 3 PM but, once in Roscoff, l was told that on that day my ship would have left at 4:30 PM. This had been scheduled by Brittany Ferries for months, since they are aware of tidal issues. Result: I arrived at Plymouth 1h30 later than expected, had no more trains, needed to buy a hotel night, etc. l will never use Direct Ferries anymore.
"Return crossing Sept"
Everything handled well, nice clean ship, good food. Strongly recommend use of a cabin overnight. Worth the extra money unless you sleep well on the floor of the lounge. Recliners not comfortable for sleeping. Delayed docking on return to Plymouth due to bad weather but kept informed.
"Best ferry crossing EVER"
Best ferry trip ever. Smooth efficient check in and loading. Straight to an exceptionally good cabin. After a light supper, slept soundly in a comfortable bed. Woke up and we had arrived! A nice hot shower and good coffee, disembarkation was as swift and as easy as loading! Well done ( please teach Anek Lines how to do it!)
"First Time Travelling with our severely disabled daughter "
We were very nervous about the journey and how accessible things would be for a full time wheelchair user but from the phone calls I made before hand to check details about an accessible cabin, to the lovely friendly staff at the passport check desk and then the officiant chaps that loaded us so we could access our side door and have 3m at the back to get our daughter out. We were very impressed how easy you made it for us. We had a lovely stress free crossing both ways and would applaud your disabled access and offers of help the whole time we were in your care. Thanks for making our holiday super easy and not making us feel like an inconvenience! It doesn't happen very often!
"Great flat trip - Reading Room on Level 6 and FIFO"
I read on other reviews about FIFO and the reading room. FIFO - ask for "lower level" at each check/wave/direction as they get off earlier, and there's a Reading Room on Level 6 toward the stern with large chairs you can sleep/computer/relax/read in.
"1st time"
There should be child free zones. Once I had learned the ropes and where to find the right places to relax it was fine. One barman told a colleague not to serve the idiot with the hat which she did but the polite gentleman she tried to serve instead told her that I was next. She was embarrassed, particularly when I was nothing but polite to her. Shall sail again
"A smooth crossing and a good experience"
The ship was very clean and well run.
"brittany ferries"
as always brittany ferries was a another nice crossing, the staff are very kind and helpful and the food is ok apart from some food a little cold by the time you get to a table but all in all i would not travel with any one else..
"Trip to Roscoff"
The boat was delayed by 2 hours which was unfortunate but otherwise an excellent trip
"Overall OK, but some small niggles."
Ship generally clean and tidy. Staff generally good, but booking movie was confused, room for improvement there. Late departures, both Plymouth and Roscoff.
"Roscof "
The whole experience was very uncomfortable my husband and I travelll from uk since 1989 to France on Brittany Ferries from Caen or le harve but the cost of Roscof and Caen ferries have gone up and now are To exspensive and the service on all your ferries have detorated over the years We are now in our 70s and find that you do not cater for the elderly passengers At all R
"Unorganised disembarkation "
Disembarkation was very slow. The announcement to go to the cars was after the ferry had docked and people started to drift down to the decks without instruction. This happened on bit trips. Particularly annoying as we had a dog in the car.
"Excellent trip!"
Excellent trip, cabin more than expected and a very good shower! Thank you.
"Holiday"
Very comfortable and enjoyable trip
"Not fulfilling expectations"
The check-in and boarding worked as well as can be expected. The boat (Amorique) needs updating. The Club Class cabins are pokey with no mini-bar, as provided on P&O overnight ferries. There's no phone charging facility. The worst thing by far though, is the catering. There's one level of service, i.e. buffet and that is appalling. On many levels. The choice is dire. The quality appalling. The price outrageous (for what they offer). For French cuisine, with their over inflated reputation, this is a scandal. My recommendation? Find another way of crossing the channel. I suggest P&O. They're much better - and cheaper.
"Crossing to Roscoff and back"
Our cabin for the overnight sailing was excellent - we had a very good nights sleep ! Crossing in both directions was enjoyable and on time - general facilities were very good.
"Brittany Ferries -great way to get to Europe"
The overnight ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff went smoothly - literally on the calm seas! - and the whole experience. We slept well in our cabin and so had an uneventful journey. The return was via the shorter Cherbourg-Porstsmouth route, and again, was a trouble-free crossing. Plenty of leg-room in the seats ( cf air travel) and could roam around easily. The only disappointment was the small shop onboard - very limited , compared to the shop on the outward journey.
"Very impressed "
We recently travelled from Plymouth to Roscoff return with two toddlers. The ferry was brilliant, everything was clean, well organised and efficient. The food was surprisingly good. There was entertainment for the kids, including a magic show and ballon making which really helped keep them busy. The shops are also well stocked with lots of interesting things to look at. I did feel a bit sick during both crossings but that's to be expected as I suffer from motion sickness. Overall it was a good experience and I would defiantly book with Brittany Ferries again.
"Great experience."
Clean and comfortable. Cabins were clean, well equipped and with comfortable beds. Boarding was well organised and smooth. Food on board was good quality. Wifi was useable - just about.
"Ferry trip"
Well organised journey good food courtious and friendly staff ,directions to and from terminal would be helpfull
"Easy as"
Check in and loading was friendly and effective. The only gripe I have that due to a changed timetable ( viz after we had received a confirmed booking) we did not leave Rosscoff till mid afternoon and consequently did not berth in Plymouth until 8.30pm and as we were staying in Wadebridge I need to change our acccomodation there to cater for a 10.00 arrival. I would like to think that ship sailing timetables once set could be adhered to.
"Plain Sailing "
Very modern boat with all facilities. Spacious and clean. Cabin well appointed and very clean . Thank you.
"Happy sailings"
Was perfect as usual Spotless cabin Food nice Easy boarding and disembarkation
"Smooth voyage"
We have travelled to Roscoff from Plymouth several times but have never enjoyed such a good night's sleep as we did on this occasion in an outside cabin.
"Good way to travel "
Easy to load and unload the car. Good facilities. Whilst perhaps not to cruise ship standards the cabin was very comfortable and quite spacious. On board facilities were very acceptable as was the food.
"Good way to travel "
Easy to load and unload the car. Good facilities. Whilst perhaps not to cruise ship standards the cabin was very comfortable and quite spacious. On board facilities were very acceptable as was the food.
"Good trip"
We made a return trip on this ferry. We found the whole experience to be an easy and relaxing experience. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The food was good in both choice and quality. Overall a pleasant experience. Recommended.
"Pretty Awful"
We booked our trip through direct ferries to travel from Plymouth to Roscoff, departing at 8am. We arrived 45 minutes prior as per our booking confirmation, only to find out that the ferry had left at 7am! As it was good Friday we were looking forward to going to see family so not ideal!! Brittany Ferries kindly arrange a new crossing for us, although this meant we had to travel 171 miles to Portsmouth to depart, incurring extra diesel costs and also tolls when we got into France! Just waiting to here from Direct Ferries regarding my complaint! It seems they switch their phones off for lunch 12-1! Not great! As this review is about the ship all was well, but for Direct Ferries I would avoid!
"excellent "
Efficient and friendly staff. Boat clean and modern.
"Excellent crossing"
This was the first time that we have done an overnight crosding for many years & were very pleasantly surprised. The facilitées we're very clean & modern...staff we're helpful & smartly dressed..The cabin immaculate & confortable..even the wakeup call was nice! Will definitely do again. Didn't heu the breakfast..but coffee was good.
"Winter Travel"
Being someone who suffers from mal de mère, we normally fly but with reduced winter schedules and threatened strikes by airline staff we chose to travel to England by ferry. As we live in the Cantal it is a long drive to la Manche so we chose Caen - Portsmouth to avoid Paris and the M25 in England. Wise decision. The journey was effortless. On time departures, smooth voyage, lovely staff. I even dared to eat something. I chose "fish and chips" which probably wasn't a great idea as the fish was tired and lifeless. Otherwise Brittany Ferries will see us again very soon.
"Shipshape"
I'm 66 and have been crossing the Channel approx 6 to 10 times a year since I was a child; that's probably upward of 400 crossings in all! I recently took the ferry from Roscoff to Plymouth having never gone that way and it was probably my most enjoyable sailing of all time. The food was truly excellent and restaurant staff delightful. The cabin, also, was spacious and immaculate. Well done Brittany Ferries.
"Great value"
We travelled from Poole to Cherbourg with our motor home, staying on the Port overnight. The boarding was easy and well managed and it was reassuring to see the security checks being carried out. Food on board was good and a reasonable price. The return from To Scott to Plymouth was equally as good with the French police thoroughly checking all vehicles. The crossing was really comfortable and again the food was good. Direct Ferries made the booking easy and were cheaper than booking direct with Brittany ferries.
"Roscoff to Plymouth"
Had a very quiet trip back to Plymouth last week. The only reason it was quiet was No TV ! Can't fault the trip or catering but 6 hours with nothing to see or do was so boring. If you're on a motorcycle there's usually no room for Kindles or books so a tv to watch would have been good. On the trip to Roscoff we had tv all the way over, why not on the way back?
"Great trip"
Very good trip great ferry clean cabin
"Plymouth Roscoff on Britany Ferries"
Fantastic ship and felt I was on a cruise rather than a crossing. I have used Brittany ferries on many occasion and really like the boats; well maintained, comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend Brittany ferries as their service is always above expectations.
"Plymouth - Roscoff"
An excellent journey at a good price. Our cabin was very comfortable, the ferry had excellent facilities including a swimming pool!... unfortunately this was out of use as we had an overnight sailing. The food was overpriced so we didn't have a meal. Would definitely use this company again.
"Excellent experience"
I was fortunate enough to travel on the Port Aven recently and found the whole experience an absolute treat. The weather was pretty foul approaching England but the Port Aven is a big ferry and took it in her stride. I have often wondered, considering how short the turnaround time is, how the staff aboard manage to clean up and make it look like the ship has been washed down from top to bottom, all in an hour or less! The food was excellent quality and variety. I dined on great food and can recommend the restaurants to anyone needing replenishment. Again, they manage to knock out a fabulous meal with so little time, it's truly impressive. I can honestly recommend travel on this ferry. It was a superb crossing in all respects, even though the channel was pretty rough with wave splash covering the windows on the 9th level. Impressive.
"my sailing experiance "
We boarded on time staff very helpful, we were on board for over six hours and enjoyed the crossing.
"Plymouth/Roscoff"
Very clean ship. Everything satisfactory, except the "Free WiFi" ! Was unable to get online with the code prvided despite many , many attempts. And then it seems the plug is pulled as soon as the ship leaves port.
"Return Trip from Plymouth to Roscoff"
Excellent service. Only negative comment I would make is that after paying for a lounge seat we found that people were just sitting in these lounges free of charge and even found people in our seats. Slight delay in getting off @ Roscoff.
"Plymouth Rosscoff"
Excellent Service
"Plymouth roscoff"
latest ferry clean tidy & up to date . Good food prices good setvice will defiantly book again
"Holiday to France"
Very happy with our recent crossing, it has been years since I have taken a long Ferry crossing and things have definitely improved ! Cinema, lovely cabins with showers !! What more can you ask for. An excellent start and finish to our holiday.
"Recent crossing Plymouth / Roscoff and return trip"
Again, great service, comfy cabin and a nice meal, a bientot Brittany Ferries !
"Two Good Crossings "
We enjoyed our day crossings on the Amorique even though the crossings were quite busy. There was plenty of room & the seating was comfortable. The food in the self service restaurant on our return was disappointing but the pizzas & pastries in the lounge at the stern on deck 6 on our outward journey were good. We will travel on this service again.
"Armorique "
Everything about the boat was wonderful, the bar, the restaurant and all staff were very friendly. The cabins are a little small but cannot complain, highly recommend!
"Ferry trip"
Both journeys went without a hitch. Club cabin was very clean and the en suite bathroom was lovely to have. Very efficient service and great facilities.
"Thank you!"
Brittany Ferries always does a great job! Never too many queues, always polite and efficient and affordable. I drove my VW Camper up to Roscoff and moved on from Plymouth. I had a cabin which clean, comfy and welcoming.
"Great way totravel to France"
Great start to our two day break in Roscoff. Evening entertainment on board, cinema, bar & ok food. Spotless cabin & able to get a good nights sleep before arriving. Really good service whilst on board & highly recommend.
"Excellent and Relaxing"
The ship was superbly clean in every department, the cabin was tidy and very adequate for its usage . The staff were engaging and very helpful, The self service restaurant had a delicious array of foods that looked and tasted superbe. I would travel again on this ferry without hesitation, very very professional crew.
"A pleasant trip in both directions"
We enjoyed the overnight journey on Pont Aven, the cabin being clean, comfortable and quiet. Smooth sea was a bonus!
"wonderful trip"
Although the return journey was very windy we were amazed to experience so little turbulance on the ferry...........a very pleasant trip
"Quick and Comfortable Crossing"
Very comfortable crossing, early morning from Caen to Portsmouth. Beautifully clean ship and efficient staff, will used this route again
"easy, comfortable,best"
Used Direct Ferries frequently and would highly recommend this ferry to all my friends.
"Portsmouth - Caen "
From boarding to disembarking, the passage was comfortable and peaceful. The ship was very quiet with few passengers, it was December. We enjoyed the restaurant food and arrived in France fed and rested.
"Travel"
We have found Brittany Ferries to be a very efficient and helpful company their staff are courteous and helpful. Onboard you are made to feel welcome the food is of a very high standard and seats are comfy. Everything is done quietly and efficiently to ensure a quick and pleasant passage. We would recommend Brittany Ferries to anyone looking for travel between France and the UK.
"Ferry crossing"
Thank you everything was exactly as it should - a thoroughly efficient service
"Weekend pass"
Both the outward and inward journey were fine and arrived on time The weather was kind so no issues The return journey seemed to have more activities for the children so as I was travelling on my own this did not affect my journey The boats were clean although there were some issues with getting the cabins ready on the return journey
"Safely back to Blighty"
I arrived at Ouistreham very tired and was probably sound asleep before the ferry left the port. I awoke pleasantly refreshed. Breakfast was delay due to 'computer' issues at the check out. A number of my fellow travellers would appreciate some further stream lining of the check out system in the self service restaurant. Not the cheapest nights sleep I had but well worth it.
"ferry acrss channel"
A good trip. Plenty of space and seating but this may be due to off season timing. Food good at reasonable price.
"Happy Traveller"
I recently travelled to Caen with Brittany Ferries and must say how much I enjoyed the whole experience!! From start to finish everything ran like clockwork and every member of Staff were helpful and professional. The Cabins are adequately sized and clinically clean. I will definitely travel with them again:)
"Happy and pleasant experience"
Used BF from Caen as alternative to DFDS Calais (not DFDS fault but rather more political issues) and am perfectly happy with how things went. From the gentle tap on my window to wake me up for the very early morning registration - I'd arrived way too early... to onboard services and facilities, comfortable seating (didn't book cabin/recliner) good food etc. I would be happy to use them again and recommend unreservedly.
"Nice voyage"
Everything went as expected on our trip from France to England. The ferry was in time on both ends. Lots of space and seats on the ship (end of September). We would use this ferry / company in the future if needed.
"Ferry crossing Plymouth-Roskoff 5th September 2015"
I was fully satisfied with the above.
"Our trip could not be faulted."
We travelled out on the Armorique and back on the Pont Aven, both journeys could not be faulted and I am very keen to travel with Brittany Ferries again and I will definitely be recommending them to friends and family.
"Simple and great "
We took the overnight ferry and booked a cabin. Everything was easy, on time and the food great. Slept like a log and then set off into Europe refreshed and ready for adventure.
"Brittany Ferries"
An excellent service; easy to book and very punctual. staff very helpful.
"great voyage"
great views from the deck all around the ship. the on board magician came around to the tables and entertained people in family groups, he was brilliant, doing card tricks and slight of hand, amazing!
"First timers"
this was our first time using the ferrie and it was just so easy. The boarding staff were helpful and friendly and the ships facilities were more than eceptible. It was a good experience and we will be doing a lot more trips via the ferrie. I would recommend getting a cabin for the night crossing..
"I'll do it again"
Excellent service on ferry crossing
"fantastic"
Having not travelled abroad for 30years;the crossing was exceptional, the facilities were clean, comfortable and the staff very professional. We would definitely travel by boat again in the future.
"Excellent service"
Recently took the ferry for our holiday to France. Excellent service, plenty to keep the children entertained and the food was good.
"Luxury!!!"
Having travelled with P & O to Calais earlier in the week to get to France as we were driving to Brittany via Disneland we were very pleasantly suprised by Brittany Ferries in lots of ways, the experience couldnt have been more different or any better. The cabins were very comfortable and functional and all the communal areas eg bars, restaurants shops were all spotlessly clean and uncrowded. No problem finding somewhere to sit wherever we were on the ship. Staff incredibly pleasant and everything was so relaxed. Food and drink was not overpriced either and considering we were on there for 6 hours the time passed very quickly. My husband had a pint of stella for just £3.40 and you could get a proper meal for as little as £8. It felt like we were not being taken advantage of because they had a captive audience. There was even a magician who did a short act and then balloon models for the kids. I cannot praise Brittany Ferries enough and they will definitely be my absolute only choice from now on. I would definitely also recommend booking through Direct Ferries, I saved a lot of money on what is an expensive route between Brittany and England.
"A good experience"
We had a cabin for the outward journey and a seat for the return journey. The cabin was clean and well presented and the morning call timely. The breakfast was fast and efficient, The seat on the return was good and the food excellent if not a little pricey. All the crew where very pleasant polite and efficient.
"Superb!"
Couldn't be happier with our crossings. The cabin was spotlessly clean. No problem ebarking or disembarking. Very well organised, though breakfast was a bit hectic which is understandable. Will def. use again.
"relaxing journey"
In spite of a very slow disembarkation at Plymouth,my wife and I found this an excellent voyage
"Plymouth to Roscoff"
A very convenient sailing for us, who live in Somerset. Staff all professional and helpful, smooth crossing, good choice of food including vegetarian options - which is good for a French concern!!
"Brittany ferry crossing roscoff to plymouth"
Very impressed with this ship its cleanliness and all the facilities offered
"Pleasant, punctual and quiet. Thank you"
A relaxing ,well organised trip.
"Review"
Very pleasant journey. Well appointed ship and we were pleased to see some delicious healthy food choices.
"Roscoff to Plymouth"
The ferry sailed on time and arrived on time. Pleasant crossing. Staff friendly and helpful. Disappointed with the meal menu - vegetarian option had been substituted for something different which meant my wife did not get an evening meal: just a snack. Plenty of room for the number of passengers. Very pleased to get a sailing to Plymouth - these are like gold dust!
"Christmas break."
Despite not being able to travel to the uk for over a year, my wife and I were really looking forward to this trip. We were not disappointed. Despite the rough seas the AMORIQUE was a steady boat and a pleasure to be on board. We had travelled on the NORMANDIE previously and felt very much at home. The start and end of our holiday was as good as the family holiday we had in between. A pleasure to travel on Brittany Ferries again. Thank you
"Great Sailings"
This was the first time I've ventured across the Channel by sea ( Always preferring the Tunnel) and I was very very impressed with the quality of the 'Armorique'Ferry travelling over to Caen. I had a beautifully designed, clean and contemporary cabin and the rest of the ship was equally beautifully presented, comfortable and warm. The food is outstanding and next time I travel over I shall eat a full meal on both crossings - French chefs know how to treat their customers as well as keep the food fresh and everything was spotless. The French/English staff were cheerful, professional and chatty. Most importantly the voyage for my husband and I was a real success and we'd definitely travel with Brittany Ferries every time.
"A Pleasant Experience"
My wife and I recently took at trip from Portsmouth to Normandy and return. Both crossings were very pleasant. Luckily the weather was mild and the sea was calm. We were both impressed with the overall level of cleanliness on both vessels. Armorique and Mont San Michel. Crews were pleasant and accommodating. I thought cost wise that the service was reasonable value for money.
"great crossing"
Portsmouth to Caen: beautiful ferry and very good crossing. helpful staff . Will use this ferry again
"dining timing"
Having left Caen at 16.30 pm our group went to book the main restaurant for a meal only to be told that the restaurant open at 18.15 pm on returning at 18.15 pm it still was not opening to 19.15pm .We dined in the self service restaurant which was fine ,but notice the main restaurant was more or less empty. Lost trade for your company.
"Review of Roscoff to plymouth"
Excellent in every way.
"4 Star Quality going on 5 Star..."
When I arrived home the first thing I said, to my family, about my varied and exciting 6 week trip through Europe was the excellent quality of the Brittany Ferry crossing, a week earlier. I was so very impressed by the absolute fine detail from the decor, comfort or safety, whether paint, or carpet, or decorations: the self service help and quality of food presented: life boats and jackets to hand; A great journey to have in life.
"Reading Area?"
A pity that both outward and inward trips were spoiled by selfish, noisy families using the quiet, designated reading area as a place for a family picnic and games. But for this, an enjoyable experience.
"Sailing accross the Channel in style"
Spending a long weekend in Bretagne we decided to take the ferry from Plymouth to Roskoff (and return). The trip over was over night and we booked a cabin. This was excellent, comfortable and had all the necessary items (including an ensuite bathroom) to make the trip most enjoyable. We were surprised by the friendly and helpful staff and the general quality and comfort of the Pont Aven - and would like to experience a day trip sometimes, in particular with a Swimming Pool, a Jacuzzi and a first class restaurant. On the way back we travelled during the day and despite a bit of sideways and up and down movement had a great time on the Armorique to Roskoff. We found the seats very comfortable, the staff thoroughly professional and very helpful and the evening meal was superb and excellent value for money. Just simple things like a smiling chef serving the food makes a huge difference to the wary traveller. Keep up the good work!!!!
"Great trip!"
We have just had a very relaxed return trip on Armorique between Plymouth and Roscoff and would recommend this service. If you don't have small children like us however (we have teenagers aged 18 and 14) and your budget can stretch to it - get a cabin!
"Good News"
It is many years since I used Brittany Ferries and I was very pleased with the whole trip, from booking to the ferry crossing. The facilities, catering arrangements and passenger facilities were excellent and much better than I remember from the past.
"Great ferry - but beware the cinemas!"
Great ferry - really impressed with both the food and the cleanliness and comfort overall. However, we had to ask for a refund (given without question) on our cinema tickets, as the lack of incline on the rows of seats meant we couldn't actually see over the heads of those sitting in front - HINT - join the queue and get in the front row, or forget it. Will definitely travel this route again - I just won't bother with the cinema.
"Smooth sailing"
Our recent short break to Brittany went very smoothly, which was a great relief as we are both poor sailors. There were plenty of comfortable seats and though the crossing was much longer than Dover - Calais, it saved us hours of driving through France. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The entertainment on the way back also helped keep the younger passengers occupied, leaving us oldies to relax in peace.
"Brittany ferries July 2014"
Could not fault the staff on board the brittany ferries, they were very welcoming and accomodating, was not expecting entertainment to be laid on throughout the journey which was great for the kids. The cabins were amazing to what I remember when I was a child, v impressed with the tea and coffee making facilities and our own bathroom. Only downfall, did not realise we would not be able to get back to car once leaving the car park so left all pajamas and picnic in car throughout journey home so spent a fortune on the ferry! I do feel they could place this warning on some part of the itinery or boarding cards they give you prior to boarding the ferry - or tell you!
"Lovely staff"
Very well organised, staff very friendly and restaurant and coffee bar not over expensive although duty free still highly priced. We would definitely use this service again.
"A night at sea"
Our crossing was relaxed and pleasant from the no hassle embarcation to the timely arrival at Roscoff. Much appreciated the welcome fresh fruit basket in the well-appointed cabin and the complementary mineral water and breakfasts. In our case the first class cabin replaced an extra night in a hotel and was well worth the outlay. The crisp cleanliness of the cabin was better than what we have come to expect in many hotels.
"Good experience"
We found our crossing with Brittany ferries to be extremely straightforward - made easier by having two of the calmest crossings we could have wished for! As we were travelling with 2 young children we had a cabin for both journeys (both in daytime hours) which was invaluable having somewhere to read quietly and play games etc with the bonus of the ensuite bathroom though we were equally impressed with the facilities on board - especially the children's entertainment though some variety on the way back would have helped, not that the children minded!! We bought food in the restaurant on our outgoing crossing - the food was ok but on the journey back to Plymouth we decided it was better to take our own food on board and will plan to do this again for similar trips. All in all a good experience.
"First Rate"
First time using the Plymouth / Roscoff route, will use it again, really liked the relaxed yet efficient atmosphere on board.
"A very pleasant crossing"
It was easy the exchange the tickets at arrival. We boarding on time. The crew was cheerful and informative. The boats are very confortable and well maintained. The crossing was perfect and makes you want to take the boat again.
"Holiday to France"
We took our first trip with Brittany Ferries have never taken this route before, we were delighted with the quality of the ship and the service on board, as it was an evening crossing we book a double room and slept wonderfully arriving fresh and relaxed for our onward journey, we would recommend this service, and we will use this crossing again in the future. Many thanks
"excellent facilities, improve on customer care though."
Very happy with everything all round. An extra bonus would have been a bit more customer care as I was sea sick and would have really appreciated someone noticing and making an offer of travel sickness pills or at least a bag. Also I would have liked to have known about all the fantastic areas that are available to passengers on board such as the cinema, which I did find, the swimming pool and the entertainment lounge. One minor complaint, car boarding staff were quite rude at us not pronouncing the French language properly on the French returning side.
"No fuss efficiency!"
The Amorique, which crosses the channel from Roscoff to Plymouth, provides a smooth efficient crossing. The day crossing is quick and very pleasant, although the wifi could be better, the staff are hard working and efficient without being to 'in your face'. He night crossing also is very efficient, the cabins are clean and mean a good rest before the long drive south once arriving in France.
"First time with Brittany Ferries"
Most impressed with the coms, before trip, and during trip. Food onboard was good, and fare price.Staff were very good and answered all questions put.The ship was changed due to the problem with Pont avon. But very pleased with this company. Will use again.
"Rocky Road"
The Boat was very clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The choice of food was limited and a bit pricey. We were late departing on our outward journey but were not very well informed of the delay.
"Review of Brittany ferry trip portsmouth Caen"
This was an excellent way to travel.
"Restful trip"
For once we chose to cross by day and do our overnights in hotels rather than cabins, and did not regret the change. With most people in cabins, the ships were ours. We could pick quiet comfortable seats in which to settle, read and rest. We did miss the footrests, available on the Normandie but not Armorique. Despite the rather poor food, (long cooked, luke-warm and bland)we enjoyed both trips and will not hesitate to cross this route again.
"Roscoff-Plymouth "
Recommended ferry. The cabins are well equipped to relax.
"Great service"
We really felt we had a great service all the way from quayside to quayside. We took our little dog and even though it was hard to leave her in the car we were at least able to go and visit her half way through which helped. As it was the first time we'd used the ferry or taken our dog abroad it was a really good start and one we'd do again now.
"An excellent journey"
A welcoming staff. Good facilities on board (restaurant, shopping, etc.). A spacious and confortable external cabin with a beautiful walk in shower.
"not better! "
everything was fine and the food after the British a real treat! MERCI!
"Brittany ferries"

"Roscoff to Plymouth Sailing with Brittany Ferries"
Very briefly, we enjoyed our journey and found the ferry and its facilities very comfortable and spacious, with good food in the restaurant we used and helpful staff on board. The crossing in the middle of the chanel was rather 'lively' but the ferry was handled well by the crew and we had little discomfort.
"A very beautiful crossing of the Channel"
A very pleasant crossing aboard l'Armorique, a recent and confortable boat. An excellent service and a polite crew. A lot of space, really clean and confortable. A perfect organisation for boarding and disembarkment.
"Night Crossing "
If you are first time on the ferry, everything is Best. Unfortunately, the embarkation takes so long that you almost lose patience. It if you could at least use W-LAN, as in Calais would be nice.
"Voyage a Roscoff "
Everything was extremely well organized!
"All very good"
All very good, clean ship helpful staff when i had a puncture on board too.
"Back home"
Everything was as spectated, no surprise thank you.
"Plymouth to Roscoff"
Cabins on way out and return journey excellent. Staff also very helpful. Boarding by easy. This was our first experience of this crossing and will definitely be doing it again. Fantastic way to easy travelling and get holidays off to a wonderful start.
"Overnight to Plymouth - like "
Very smooth overnight ride to Plymouth. Very good cabins, well equipped, clean. Recommended!
"Trip to France"
Thank you Brittany Ferries for an excellent voyage to start our holiday in France. We love the relaxed atmosphere and comfort of the ferry.
"nice trip "
Crossing from Plymouth to Roscoff with Amorique: beautiful ship, on-time departure and arrival: a relaxing trip.
"Very relaxed crossing "
All the best. Cleanliness and staff top. More cheap snacks would be nice.
"I was very pleased "
I was very pleased. Unfortunately I have the problem that I'll always seasick on ships. We stayed with the bikes on the road, check that ran smoothly. Otherwise there is no objection.
"Roscoff to Plymouth aboard the Armorique"
Great trip - could have been a wider vegetarian food choice and there were off putting queues for the restaurant- but I really enjoyed the journey and would look out for this boat/ship.
"Unsuitable reclining seats "
That the sun / sleeper seats for the night crossing of course not as convenient as a sleeping cabin are, I already knew before. the 10 degree recliner for sleeping are totally unsuitable! The floor was already the better alternative .......
"Crossing Roscoff-Plymouth "
We had everything from booking to arrival a pleasant journey.
"Comments regarding a return trip between Roscoff and Plymouth"
An excellent trip aboard the Armorique. A meticulous and attentive staff. We'll use Brittany Ferries as soon as we can.
"no problem but wish one coud access the showers"
No comment really cos everything went well. The ship Armorique is nice and clean and the staff friendly. Left on time, arrived on time. The only thing i would say is that it is a shame there are no showers except for people who have a cabin.
"Very good, except for the placement of the cars onboard"
A very good experience, except for some confusing indication given by the parking ushers.
"Plymouth to Roscoff & return"
We took our motor-home. This was a pleasant uneventful journey in both directions. On the outward journey as it was an overnight crossing we had a cabin that was clean, air-conditioned, and quiet. This allowed us to move on in our journey refreshed. Towels and bedlinen were supplied. Direct Ferries were slightly cheaper than booking with Britanny Ferries. Last year when we did the same journey and Britanny Ferries went on strike Direct Ferries customer services were excellent. Did not try the catering. Have booked another crossing using Direct Ferries for later this year.
"Brittany Ferries - Plymouth/Roscoff crossing"
It's been a while since I used a ferry service, usually preferring to fly but a recent trip in Brittany Ferries Armorique ferry has changed my mind. Staff were friendly and helpful, facilities first class, and the crew were exceptionally efficient at embarkation/disembarkation which was done swiftly and with a minimum of fuss. The only real gripe was that with the price paid, we could have got a far better cabin had we booked direct with Brittany ferries which we will do next time. Whilst we booked a club class cabin via directferries, the better cabins seemed to be reserved for Brittany Ferries direct customers. Our friends came with us on holiday and they booked at the same time using Brittany ferries and got the crossing cheaper and with a better equipped and roomier cabin. The Armorique is a superb ferry being the newest in the fleet. Food facilities are excellent with a well appointed restaurant selling quality food at very reasonable prices. In fact the food is far better than on any motorway service station and probably half the price. The ferry was also very clean and tidy. Disembarking at Roscoff was a pleasure. We were off the ship and into French countryside within 15 minutes of getting into our car; a far cry from the hour's wait to leave the port on the return leg where the English port staff looked grumpily on and didn't seem to have any method in which queue they let through first. A rude awakening for anyone French landing in the UK for the first time and a complete contrast to the friendly and far more efficient French customs. All in all a very pleasurable crossing on a well equipped ship run by friendly and competent staff which made the crossing a joy and definitely a worthwhile part of our holiday. the children in particular loved the crossing. I would far rather take the extra time and use the ferry over the alternatives such as the chunnel or flying. A stress free and relaxing start and finish to our holiday...well done Brittany Ferries!
"Practical information"
The seats, for those who don't book a cabin, are not really confortable (plus I didn't manage to recline them) and it quite cold. It's avisable to take a fleece or a second layer as well as a pillow. The floor is not confortable to sleep on.
"The video games room"
I was surprised by the violence of the videogames aboard L'Armorique, especially most people in the game room are very small children.
"A pleasant crossing"
No negative. Everything is planned to keep the passenger busy during the crossing.
"Roscoff to Plymouth and back "
Everything okay: check-in, boarding and comfort on board. Cleanliness and food also includes diversity well. We would travel again with the shipping company.
"Highly recommended "
Everything went well, rapid boarding, slept very well and rested the goal is reached (very pleasant wake-up melody). In Boardshop unfortunately not been possible to bargain. All in all, a very modern and clean ship, there are no wishes left open. On board we did not eat (no assessment possible). We would not hesitate to travel again with Amorique.
"Ferry Crossing to Roscoff."
Unfortunately our departure was delayed for 1 hour due to a 'medical emergency', I guess we would all appreciate the same care and attention if the situation was reversed. I hope that the person concerned is making a good recovery. We had a cabin for an overnight crossing, the cabin was clean, comfortable and well equipped and we slept well. On our return journey we had a meal which was delicious, although we certainly miss the restaurant that used to exist, the quality was fantastic! I noticed that there seemed to be good entertainment for children and of course the usual film and shops. We were able to sit out on the deck as the weather was glorious. I always enjoy the cross-channel ferry, it's possible to walk around as you wish, sit on the sun-deck, shop or quietly read and of course eat!
"Time well spent"
During the trip we were able to relax comfortably, take a shower in the cabin, and to see a film at the cinema. The boat was exceptionally clean and well cared for, the staff and service was above expectation; we will be sure to choose the service in the future. Many Thanks P.J.Ross
"A great crossing. The bourguignon was a good surprise"
I was usually suspicious about the food served in planes or ferries, but I was pleasantly surprised with the boeuf bourguignon. The mash served as a side was also smooth. Thanks.
"good performance "
very nice crossing, value for money is ok.
"Perfect"
Everything was perfect: the timekeeping, the reception, the cleanliness and the confort
"Bravo. Very well done, Brittany Ferries"
It was our first time on a ferry from Roscoff to Plymouth, when we boarded the Armorique on 27th June 2913, for the 22:15 sailing. We phoned the previous day to enquire if we could expect some help to board, since we were towards the end of a 4-month overseas tour ( with my wife and family, we live on the island of Mauritius ), i.e with 2 heavyish suitcases, and because at 70, I have some mobility problems. We were assured we would. And so it was. When we registered at 19:30 on sailing date, we were very nicely told that our request has been duly recorded and that assistance would be provided. Just before boarding time, a car, with a charming lady driver, came to collect us and we were dropped at the door of one of the ferry's lift ... And the same quality assistance was provided at our arrival at Plymouth, early the next day !!! My wife and myself are so grateful for such a service, which has further be dispensed with so much grace by all involved. Without it, we do not know how we would have managed the crossing. Service on board was great. We enjoyed a very good evening meal in the spacious restaurant, with a nice wine from Bergerac to accompany it. The duty-free shops are of high standards, not always found these days in the best airports around the world. The cabin for the overnight crossing was very comfortable, with an excellent shower en-suite. We were so sorry to be awakened, at 05:30 the following morning, by a beautiful music, to be told that the trip would shortly come to an end ... Many thanks to all the staff of Brittany Ferries, both on-shore and at sea. You have made our day ( rather, our night ... ). Yves and Marilyn Giraud
"Perfect"
An excellent crossing with a perfect crew. Congratulations!
"all good! "
Highly recommend. Hint: on the days ride rent a cab. A " nap " and then a shower. You will be arriving very relaxed.
"Roscoff-Plymouth"
Great Journey I recommend it. Brittany ferries are surely the best company?
"Brittany Ferries"
By far the best way to cross the Channel, not necessarily the cheapest, but certainly the best. One small criticism - could the Duty Free section please add PIPE tobacco.
"Perfect crossing "
all worked beautifully. Lovely ship, quiet ride and far-reaching information. Unfortunatelly no views, but was night. F. Mitzschle
"Trip over "
The trip was good the ship is very nice plenty of room to move around. Bars are good and crew pleasant to speak with, the breakfast could have been earlier as it is served at English time in French waters so is one hour later than it is so a bit tight for disembarking.
"Birthday Gift"
This trip was a birthday present for my husband, while on holiday in Devon. We got the ferry at 10.00 pm and arrived in Roscoff at 7.00 am giving us the whole day for sight seeing we left at 3.00 pm the following day and arrive in ply mouth at 8.10 pm. The whole experience was lovely and we will definitely do this trip again. Everything was great and every aspect of the trip was very professional.
"plain sailing"
I recently took the ferry from Roscoff to Plymouth and back again. And on both occasions I found the journey totally enjoyable from start to finish. The cabin was clean and fresh. I couldn't find fault with it at all. The staff was polite, helpful and friendly. And unlike most types of transport it was actually very punctual.
"Roscoff Plymouth trip"
Good sailing conditions, comfortable seats on the ship and the self service restaurant was well stocked!
"Would recommend!"
Everything was easy. The cabin was comfortable on the way out. We were well informed boarding and disembarking. The children were well provided for with a clown, colouring competition and cartoons on the return leg. The food was hot and we were served with ample portions. Would recommend!
"It's very good"
Satisfying crossing
"satisfaction"
a trip without any problem and during which we were even able to sleep!
"Cant wait to go back"
It was all very well organized and has worked wonderfully. A big thank you also to the personal.
"Very good"
Nothing went wrong so all as expected.
"Good crossing"
As we were walk on passengers we experienced some difficulty walking onto and off the ferry with our luggage. Otherwise the facilities on board were very good. The reserved recliner seats were ideal and we felt relaxed throughout the journey.
"Ferry crossing"
Had a great time travelling with Brittany Ferries everything was perfect as expected, going again in July.
"Ferry Good"
What a great way to start our trip. The vessel Amorique was shiny clean and sparkly. All staff were excellent from the traffic handlers through to the chefs. Praise also goes to the hidden talent of the sailors and those on the bridge that we never meet, but rely on for a safe and smooth journey.
"Great"
It really was a nice boat and a very good clean cabin. Very nice, food was also pleasant.

"Armorique, not too bad."
I have travelled on Armorique numerous times, mainly Plymouth to Roscoff but other routes as well. The ship has spacious public areas, good if you do not travel well, like me. The cafeteria style restaurant is reasonable in quality and price but on at least two occasions the food was cold due to such long queues at the checkout. This is a staffing problem at the checkout and is not usual. I was directed to a microwave oven to reheat my meals. There are no 2 berth or 4 berth standard outside cabins. If you want a window/porthole you have to pay for a 4 berth 'Club' cabin. For me this is a big minus point as I frequently travel alone but do like a window for a day trip. Overnight I find inside cabins generally quieter. Other ships have 2 and 4 berth outside cabins. The car deck is partially open-air at the back. I do not like the car to be placed close to (or on) this area as it can get quite salty from the damp salt air which is drawn along behind ships. The worst thing about this vessel for me, being a poor traveller, is it's peculiar motion. It is as though the stabilisers have a lag of a second or so in their operation, giving a rolling sensation in even a slight sea. I much prefer it when the sea is a bit rough. I guess this is modern shallow draught ship design.
