"Lovely ferry not enough cabins"
Our experience on boarding was very chaotic. It took forever to park up. I could not seem to change my booking online from reclining chair to booking a cabin. After boarding we found out all the cabins were full. Having said that the staff were all very friendly and helpful, saying no one had expected such a busy crossing. Everything was kept exceptionally clean including the toilets being regularly checked. the breakfast was fine for me on a full breakfast, but my wife only has cereal, which was a tiny prepacked special K. You have to buy a bottle of milk to use and with a banana was vastly overpriced for her small bowl. Getting off took an hour in Dublin. I can only assume the delays at both ends were due to such a large amount of cars traveling. So mixed views. I hope if I use them again I can get a cabin and have a smoother journey.

Good trip, excellent service. Suggestions for making it even better: Monitors with info regarding what movies at what time; announcement of a band playing where and when; emergency info. Next: the "live" announcements where absolutely garbled and not understandable.
"Direct Ferries had not paid my passage to Irish Ferries "
Irish Ferries were really good . However when I arrived at the checkin Direct Ferries had not yet paid the monies to Irish Ferries. Thankfully the Irish Ferries Manager resolved this with Direct Ferries. I will not use Direct Ferries again and find it quite pathetic that you do not even have a call centre to resolve such problems.
"Journey Great Food and Drink"
Travelling by boat is a please if you have the time. However, the price of food and drink onboard is simply outrageous, Cornflakes for 6.95!!! The quality of the hot food (sorry most of it was cold) is disgusting. It is pure price gauging with a captive audience. We normally bring a cool bag with our food, but this time we hade 2 children to feed as well and thought it was a treat for them. Anyone fro cod fish fingers and chips or a 17.95 cold breakfast? Disgusting behaviour, will try and travel by different company, Irish ferries are taking and andvantage out of loyal customers.

I was very impressed with Irish ferries ship W.B. Yeats. The ship is modern with spacious cabins (the 2 unused cabins are stowed in the ceiling which is very clever and gives more space in the cabin) and the bed was comfortable. There were plenty facilities and the crew were very polite and helpful. The full Irish breakfast was a particular highlight for me as it was very delicious and plentiful. I would have no hesitation travelling on this ship again.

Easy and quick boarding and exit , all staff were friendly. Food was of good quality. Toilets clean.. only two comments really, play area couldn’t be used because of raucous unsupervised older children and the carpets need vacuuming as our toddler kept picking up crumbs from the floor. Besides that all food, roomy with lots of space.

Quite unhappy with the service that wasn’t provided. I was scheduled to leave on a later ferry but due to covid19 circumstances I had to book an earlier date. Direct ferries still hasn’t replied to any of my emails regarding changing my ferry date or being refunded for the first booking I made that I will no longer be taking. I understand that this is a difficult and busy time for everyone but refusing to answer phones and not replying to customers e-mails is poor behaviour.

"Dublin to Holyhead food cold and expensive "
Not a lover of Irish Ferries from previous experience and this trip proved it. New ship so it was nice clean but food marks on seats near Resturant. Decided to have a meal so went for chicken wings and potato wedges can of Lemon drink 12euro both were cold and had to take them back. Got a fresh plate from the Kitchen and it was hot. Another passenger Truck Driver that travel 3 times a week and said food is always cold. A serious issue with chicken especially. The staff on the till was more interested in taking the money. Customer’s were leading drinks at the till as they were too expensive for instance San Pellagrino Lemon 2.75 euro after being told it was 1.60. Need to display pricing. Rant Over.

"Off loading baggage"
Smooth crossing with no issues When we got to Dublin, the floor team controlling baggage reclaim handled a situation relatively imcompetently. There were several lines of passengers trying to view the samw carousel, and because many people couldn’t see the belt the same bags were going round and round. Clearly the bags on the belt belonged to those at the edge of the crowd, but the team failed to notice this. One woman’s cello fell of the belt because of how packed it was and she was visibly very distressed. I suggested that the team announced for all passengers to stepback a bit so everyone could see, but what womab did was just walk up to a few passengers and suggest that these few individuals let thr passengers behind them see. What the situation needed was a tanoi system announcement announcing to all passengers to take few step backs. Because of this, most people took upwards of 20mins to get their bags.
"Refusal to travel on ferry review"
On arrival at Holyhead the operative on the barrier check point reviewed my paperwork and said that the vehicle I was travelling in should have been booked on as freight! My office at work had made the booking and entered all of the vehicles dimensions etc however the direct ferries/irish ferries system did not advise differently when it received the details. I was advised to call direct ferries which I did there and then but they advised that although it was a case of making an extra payment it could not be done as the call centre was not open until the Monday morning. In summary I missed the ferry and let customers down who were expecting me, confused and disappointed.

Sat nav on the car took me to a port entrance which was gated off despite signs directing traffic to the ferry that way. Another car pulled up beside me confused too. We had to drive around looking for alternative routes When I found the correct entrance there was a roundabout with a large sign directing me to a check-in point but when I arrived it was for freight only. Another car full of men went the same way and end up there too. When I enquired I was told to backtrack. Eventually finding the car entrance, all appeared closed and we were all confused but eventually saw one open in the distance. The signage at the port is so confusing. On the ferry, I had to enquire where the Club Class lounge was as it was not indicated on the ticket or on signs inside. The lounge was lovely but even here the signage was crazy. You had to go through an emergency exit to get to a toilet! The relaxing surroundings of the lounge were ruined by a group of very noisy travellers shouting to each other and into there mobile phones the whole crossing. Other passengers were raising their eyes and grumbling throughout. Apart from checking their passes, nothing else was done. We were surprised that this group did have passes but they would be easy to reuse often as there was no ID or even date on them. I would only use Irish Ferriesas second choice on this route from now on.

It has been some time since I used the Holyhead - Dublin Ferry and would normally opt to fly or if I need to take my car, take the sea cat option for the sake of saving just those extra few minutes. This time I had very little time to arrange my trip, and was VERY pleasantly surprised, and impressed with the WB Yeats!! The boarding / loading and disembarking process is easy with well organised crew on hand to assist, guide and direct. The vehicle decks are clean and well lit, with ample space between vehicles. The weather forecast for the trip was not good, and I expected a rough outward journey. Again, this is where the larger vessels have an advantage over the sea cats, and the trip although it was rough, was far better than previous ferry trips. I can only put this down to the new ship? My return journey, although not flat calm was much smoother. The ship itself is immaculate. Very clean and tidy with plenty of comfortable seating, a choice of dining facilities, offering a superb selection of excellent hot and cold food and drinks. There is a soft play area for the children, and even a cinema on board! There are multiple TV screens around the ship and Wi Fi is available. There is also a well stocked shop on the 11th deck. The crew were all very pleasant and professional and operated with a quiet efficiency. On reflection, I may now choose to book the WB Yeats every time I make this trip with my car. It is well worth the extra few minutes for the comfort and stability this ship offers. Well done!!

"Hit & Miss"
We traveled on both the Ulysses and the Yeats. The Yeats is by far the better boat, with the 'Food corridor' on the Ulysses very old fashioned and cramped. The canteen food was hit-and-miss on both boats, much of it overcooked despite being among the first to eat but some of it - especially the pie - very good. Going by boat takes about twice as long as fly-drive, but for a group of six it was also half the price of renting a car or two - plus we can take loads of stuff (on our laps!). Landing at Dublin was confusing - we went through the centre of the city but the tunnel/toll road would have cost us an extra 20 mins and €13.10 to get South. I guess timing is everything there. On the Welsh side the dual carriageway is almost continuous from the M6 to the port, very easy.

We took the ferry to Dublin on December 22nd. it was the busiest ferry crossing i had experienced in years. the boat was fully to capacity. we wondered how we would manage to care and feed our disabled son in such a tightly packed and crowded environment without asking for any help, we were approached by one of the staff / crew who gave us access to the Club Lounge for free. this was great as there was space and we could at lease have some seating. shortly after our sons feed, we were then offered a cabin, free of charge and the rest of the journey was exceptional simply fantastic service and very much appreciated

Great service as usual. 9pm ferry from Dublin was quite busy after the xmas period. Always go club class and was a bit disappointed to see many people lying over sofa chairs taking up the room of 4- 6 people. Food -great as usual and staff were friendly and helpful. Always travel Irish ferries as good value for money
"Comfortable Journeys and Okay Website"
The ships for my crossings were lovely. The Irish Ferries ships of the W.B. Yeats and the Ulysses were great ships, very comfortable, they had different seating areas, good restaurants, child facilities and the staff were very nice too. Even with the rough weather of Storm Elsa, Irish Ferries worked to get as many crossings sorted as possible across the Irish Sea safely for Christmas. I cannot give full marks for punctuality as the first ship did leave almost 2 hours late but they did facilitate getting people home for the holidays so I will still give 4 stars and they did text to inform us the ferry would be delayed a few hours in advance allowing us to relax in a nearby town and not wait aimlessly in the port. The weather is not Irish Ferries' fault. I only travel Irish Ferries and will continue to do so having had my fill of the "competition" (there is no competition to be had) in the past. I must say though, on the Direct ferries site, my only gripe with it is that when I put in two children, it altered their ages to infants when I specifically put in their ages and it gave a misquote as a result which led to having to make alterations when I noticed the issue and incurred a fee. But when I also had to alter the date due to a family matter, there was no issue with either need to alter and it was simple and easily done. I will use this service again.

I have traveled several times with this company over the past 18 months, both with and without a vehicle. Always found the service – from booking (very user-friendly) to travel (very comfortable and excellent staff attention). This last trip was in the face of a serious storm in the Irish Sea which made it too hazardous for the incoming vessel to dock on schedule. Held in the check-in parking for several hours, staff walked the queues (in the rain) to advise the situation and indicate passenger support services in the terminal building. Tip 1) Accept the online text contact – receive pre-travel reminders and news updates on your phone. Tip 2) Travel Club Class – The upgraded services and facilities take the experience to another level. Enjoy.
"Fine crossing, but....."
No complaints re: the crossing, the staff or the service in general BUT...... On returning home, both my partner and I discover that we have been hit with a £25 bill for mobile call and data services whilst away for a weekend in Ireland. We both have roaming services with the mobile operator '3' and this covers all the UK, the EU and many other countries all within our price plan, with no extras charged: I have been all over the world and all data and calls have been covered by my monthly payment in the regions offered by 3. HOWEVER, I now discover (and this was NOT pointed out to me prrior to boarding the ferries, not was my attention drawn to any notices) that whilst on board the Irish ferries, my phone connected automatically to a provider on the boat (presumably satellite-based) and this provider charges a stupid amount for its 'service'. Now, we both connected to the on-board free WiFi within minutes of taking a seat, so no data was used intentionally for web-stuff. Furhter, we neither of us made nor received any phone calls during the trips there and back. So what's going on, Irish Ferries? One presumes (unless you tell me otherwise) that you get a cut from this provider - are you so short of income that you (or the provider) has to resort to stealth to grab money off an unsuspecting customer?? I think it is disgusting! There should be a BIG warning or announcment made obvious to passengers that this can (will?) happen - I saw or heard nothing. Surely you can see that folk will be caught out by this, when they are used to their phone-roaming covering everything? It can leave nothing but a bad taste in the mouth. I paid nearly £300 for my return trip and despite this, Irish Ferries allowed me to be suckered into paying more for something that provided no function for me. Will I ever use their service again? I doubt it, unless there is an apology and a refund. Whether or not you use them .. you decide. I have a funny feeling that this review is not going to be visible for long...

Very pleased with both ships we sailed on. We had a 3 hour delay from Holyhead to Dublin. We were informed 4 hours before the ship was due to set off which I thought was brilliant customer service. At the port we just sat in the car and waited, we weren’t kept up to date with what was going on really but I appreciate it’s difficult. We were given a refreshment voucher which got us a full meal, drink and biscuits which I thought was very generous. Would definitely travel on either ship again. Onboard shop / restaurant wasn’t that cheap (€4.50 for a small bag of chocolates) but this is just the norm for ships / airports etc.

Was the best ferry trip I’ve been on. I usually do Belfast-Liverpool, however on this occasion I decided on Holyhead Dublin and I’ll definitely be choosing it all the time. Fast sailing, very quiet boat noises, comfy, clean and a really nice place to be, especially the WB Yeats. I normally can never sleep on the boat but I was able to on this sailing and the check in and boarding is very easy

"Half term sailing"
Ulysses/Sunday afternoon - booking all fine, didn’t bother booking club lounge this time as was day sailing, was worst sailing ever, full of kids from football team, running around, shouting, near knocking people over, rude, overtaking cinema area, 10 plus kids in toilets, very intimidating for elderly guests on the boats and younger children , they were spoken to by staff members to calm down but ignored them- their adult supervisors were oblivious to their kids behaviour and didn’t care! Shocking! No one got a minutes peace! Was just awful, people that had driven long journey couldn’t rest, staff on board were stressed out as these gangs of kids took over all areas and shops etc! Horrible crossing! Surely a more senior member of staff should have used Tanoy system to insist on these children being made sit down and have manners!!

Arriving at Dublin Port I was directed to a separate lane and loaded first. A very helpful member of staff was by the lift, where I parked, with a wheelchair for me. I had booked Club Class and he assisted me in finding a seat and assured me he would return to take me back to the car deck on arrival in Holyhead. The W.B.Yeats Club Class lounge was vey nice. I chose a reclining seat , near the buffet which was very comfortable - in fact I took a nap and felt very refreshed on my arrival in Holyhead. Sadly, the return on the Ulysses was not as good in several ways. No assistance or wheelchair provided. The slope to the lift was very steep for someone using 2 crutches - not so bad going into the lift, but very precarious coming out. The seating in the Club Class Lounge was so uncomfortable and tightly packed that I could not manage to even get a drink as maneuvering between the seating was a problem. I really would suggest that the seating be looked at. Several passengers seemed just as uncomfortable as I was. I was impressed with the outward sailing, but really disappointed with the return and wondered if I might have been better not to be in the Club Class Lounge. Having paid extra for this I was disappointed and could not recommend it.
"Ferry versus aeroplane.."
The journey was very good but travelling from Yorkshire to Donegal took 13 hours. Flying to Derry takes 6 hours door to doior. Cost of ferry with 25% off was £398 for 4 and car. Aeroplane plus car hire at Derry is £200. Enjoyed the ferry but it takes too long and costs too much.

Both journeys were very comfortable and all staff with whom we came in contact were helpful and friendly. We were espercially impressed that the ferry was delayed for half an hour to allow all those who had been caught up in the traffis jam caused by an accident on the bridge to Holyhead

"Easy Sailing "
I have recently travelled on two occasions to Dublin Port from Holyhead. The first time was as a foot passenger (having never travelled as a foot passenger before). I found the experience very enjoyable and stress free and quite unlike airport travel !! The second trip was with my husband in our car and we decided to also go Club Class. Again, this was a lovely experience, having priority boarding, complimentary snacks and selected drinks plus 25% discount in the shop. Both sailings were punctual and luckily the crossings were smooth as silk. Will definitely be travelling by ferry again, much preferable to flying in my opinion.

Boarding, the staff, the facilities - everything about Direct Ferries was extremely professional on both our journeys. We chose to upgrade to Club Class and found the lounge very relaxing. A lovely selection of complimentary food and drinks was available. The whole experience was faultless and we wouldn’t hesitate to use Direct Ferries again.

Our return trip club class was as much as we could expect, enjoyable comfortable. Our sailing to Dublin however!, we were directed to level 5, and consequently we finished up in the James Joyce lounge which was ok but we did not enjoy the pleasure of club class, I can only imaging the docket we placed on the rear view mirror we somehow failed to turn it such that it did not indicate we were club class, if that were the case?, a simple solution would be colour coding. I did enquire at reception and was advised to go to deck eleven, I went to deck eleven where the options were outside area or crew only. On our return trip we were directed to deck 7, where everything was straight forward. My name is not Paddy, English people like to tag people with a broad brush.

This was the first time I ever tried a deluxe cabin (all the cheaper ones were booked). The cheaper ones were more than adequate, but this one was Something Else Again - spacious, well-equipped, comfy bed, excellent bathroom, lots of free fruit and an excellent free breakfast in the Lady Gregory restaurant. Definitely the way to go!

Having travelled twice on this ship I can honestly say I will not be on it again.the staff are ignorant,the signage is impossible to work out .the need to.the tenth floor then up another lift in the purple section is mutts.i understand it is an Irish ferry but it would be worth maybe selling some french products for those people who wanted a last minute gift from France.I asked for Calvados and the guy said what is that . Pretty poor overall trip

"Awful food"
The Brasserie food was appaling. How can you have a new boat with new kitchens and serve up the kind of this poorly chosen, poor quality and badly cooked fare. Honestly puts me off this company.
"Magnifico"
The ship WB Yeats was launched in 2018. It is obviously a modern ship and has been designed to absolute perfection! Our 18 hour journey from Dublin to Cherbourg was both enjoyable and rewarding. The food onboard was second to none and was reasonably priced. The cabin could only be described as bijou but luxurious. We were very very comfortable and both had the best sleep ever! Thus service with Irish ferries is highly recommended!

Traversée aller en retard en raison du météo et traversée un peu mouvementée mais la compagnie n'y est pour rien ! Retour sans souci - cabines propres, comfortables, tout ce qu'il faut à bord.

Fabulous ship fantastic crew on WBYEATS . Would highly recommend. Staff were polite friendly professional . Food was excellent. Facilities on board were excellent
"motorbike trip"
The boat itself was great. Cabins were clean and very comfortable and the food was good as well. Boarding the ferry in Dublin was very slow as we were kept waiting for an hour and a quarter. Cars arrived late and after 10 minutes got on before us. We eventually got on and were packed so tight together that we could hardly get the panniers opened to get the overnight bag out. It was impossible to walk between our bikes and we were completely blocked in by three rows of cars so paying for speedy exit was a waste. It was very much a case of strap your own bike down and sort yourself out so if a bike gets damaged its your fault. The return was slightly better in Cherbourg, we got on quicker and were packed together like sardines again but not blocked in by cars. Irish ferries need to sort out the way they cater for bikes .
"Family holiday"
Efficient service provided by Irish ferries. Cabin, cafe, cinema and shop are all of a good standard with helpful staff available if needed. Woul have no hesitations in travelling again.
"Very good for wheelchair user"
I am a wheelchair user and it was a first time to travel with a ferry. I stayed on a couch with other travelers. and I felt no problems. But the couch room is next to the children's corner. I did not mind, but for someone with high sensibility, the feeling may differ. I will travel the ferry again because it is cheap, confortable and enjoyable.
"Ireland trip"
Great trip with the WB Yeats. New ship. Organised well. Friendly staff. Good beds. One minor, club class is not only accessible for members. Access security is leak :-)

Installé dans un fauteuil au niveau 11. Aurais préféré un arrêt de la télévision qui fonctionne toute la nuit, laquelle provoque une gêne pour le sommeil. N'ai pas compris l'heure de retard au départ de Dublin qui n'a pas été rattrapée pour l'arrivée à Cherbourg, ce qui aurait pu se faire en raison de la puissance des moteurs de ce navire. Pourquoi les piétons sortent en dernier à Cherbourg, alors que nous étions un petit nombre (une douzaine de passagers) ? Perte de temps qui pourrait être évitée. Sinon bonnes conditions de transport dans un navire sûr et confortable Cordialement Patrick des COGNETS
"Holiday end"
After being let down by Brittany ferries we opted to sail with Irish Ferries to Dublin. First time on this ferry and have to say we were delighted with everything, from the cabin which was airy and spacious with a great mirror for the ladies. We ate at boylans bistro and the food was the nicest we have had in any ferry. The breakfast was also tasty and worth the money.This ferry is new and very modern with lots of sitting areas , a lovely quiet area to read and lots of space . All staff members that we met were friendly, polite and helpful when required. An easy boarding system and just as well organised getting off. All in all a really good experience and we will definitely use this ferry again.
"Highly recommended"
As the old children's song has it: We’re going North, South, East, West, And up the Irish sea! A bottle o' rum to settle me tum, And that’s the life for me! Didn't even need the bottle o' rum. This is now my chosen way to get to Belfast from Switzerland. Once upon a time, I went via the Chunnel and then up the length of England to Cairnryan for the ferry to Belfast, driving on British motorways that are usually (a) crowded (b) under repair, or (c) both at the same time. This way is much, much better, and much of it is because of the excellence of the Irish Ferries service. The ships are grand, the food is good, the cabins are comfortable, you leave at a good time and your arrive at a good time, well rested and ready for the journey north. Yes, it's more expensive than the other way, but, in my estimation, much preferable and hassle-free.
"Never again"
For a ship this size and for the length of time we were on it for (18 hours) there was no entertainment nothing at all to do unless u wanted to sit about and get drunk. All in all I wouldn't sail with this ship again. Worst trip ever and because there was nothing to do the journey dragged in. I don't expect fireworks and fancy dancing but a bit of entertainment on such a long trip should of been thought of. Very disappointed
