"Comfortable and convenient"
Used this service as part of an "adventure journey" from Devon to Didim in Turkey. Met our expectations entirely.e
"Almost like a sea cruise"
I caught the Blue Star 2 Ferry from Kos to Rhodes . It was an early morning sailing with the sun still rising. I bought a coffee once I’d boarded and sat on the top sun deck watching Kos disappear into the distance. I enjoy the three hour journey and would recommend Blue Star to anyone
"Good trip"
On time, reserved seat.
"Shambolic"
The boarding of this ferry was terrible. We have caught Blue Star before from Leros to Kos where it is much better organised. In Kos just reaching the ferry terminal on foot was difficult because of the build up of cars waiting to board the ferry & not allowing room for foot passengers with cases through. There were hundreds of foot passengers and no system for boarding. Everyone was pushing & shoving, the boarding personnel were shouting, cars were being loaded where people were queuing, women with small children were forced to the back, being small I was nearly knocked over and by the time we got on all the seats, except those in the cafeteria, had gone, largely because people stretch over several of them to sleep. Having just returned from US where on a full Amtrak train the super efficient, friendly staff went along telling people it was a full train and requesting customers to only use one seat this was just a shambles. As a result although the ferry arrived on time, it took 50 minutes to load which meant it was 15 minutes late at all subsequent destinations. This is the first time we’ve booked a Greek ferry on line & didn’t realise we had to get our on line booking transferred to actual tickets at the ferry office, it might be wise to specify this on the booking confirmation to avoid unnecessary hassle. We’ve been on Greek ferries and Blue Star before without any problems, except long delays, & maybe this is just a problem in Kos. Maybe they need to move the ferry terminal.
"Kos to Piraeus Aug 13 2019 Blue Star Ferries"
Well above our expectation. We booked a lux cabin and slept very well, quiet, clean and well appointed. The meal in the A la Carte restaurant was very good, the service excellent and the whole experience was a really good end to our holiday. I will not hesitate to repeat the crossing with Blue Star
"Difficulty locating ship in Pireaus"
Once aboard the boat I had no complaints. My problems were partly caused by the late arrival of a flight to Athens to Athens which meant that I was short of time when I arrived at Pireaus Train Station, where I found no clues as to where I should find my ferry. It was Sunday night and dark, and there was no-one at the station to point me in the right direction. The first Blue Star office I found was closed, and I was directed by people I asked that I needs to walk a considerable distance around the harbour to where the boat was docked. The first Blue Star boat I got to was the Crete ferry and the office there was only servicing Crete passengers. I was told to board a bus which would take me to the Kos boat, but the directions were unclear and I was seriously worries when I eventually got the bus and arrived at the right place. The gist of my complaint is that my documentation did not include any directions as to how to find my ferry in the very large and very busy port which Pireaus is - hopefully you can address this problem on a future occasion; I will no doubt be using Direct Ferries again!
"Blue Star revue"
The Blue Star ferry is really good, spacious comfortable cabins ,a very good A La Carte restaurant which is peacefully quiet with efficient staff and a very good menu. The big problem I had was finding the ferry located at berth E1.The sign posting around the docks for E1 needs to be improved as it is well away from the main docks where all the other ferries.I drove round and round until I found a Blue Star ferry and asked the staff where E1 and they just told me "its down there" which it obviously wasnt.I eventually found a sign, which wasnt obvious, and arrived at a Blue Star ferry again I asked if this was the Kos ferry and a member of the staff told me again "its down there" so I set off again and went round again in a big circle to arrive back at the same ferry. I approached the man who looked the most senior and asked him why I was sent away and he apologised profusely explaining that the officer I approached didnt speak good English. All this was happening with minutes to till the departure time of 19.00.My main question was why was an officer with lack of English on the quayside to meet passengers ?? The other problem was departure /arrival times. My ferry departed Piraeus 19.00 and arrived 06.30 which was too early to check into my hotel and I had to wait till 09.30 to check in and Kos was deserted. Why dont they change the departure time by 2 hours to 21.00 and arrival time to 08.30 much more civilised times.
"Unwarranted Rudeness "
On arriving, 3 pleasant staff greeted us going up the escalator. It finished there. The Flocafe male staff have to the most rude, ignorant and misogynistic I have ever come across. Unprompted, unwarranted, unpleasant- should not be working with the public.
"Piraeus to Patmos return"
Excellent except the trip from Piraeus where we wee given a bunk bed ! Very difficult ladder to climb up and quie dangerous for mature people ! The return was very good with twin beds ,,,very clean cabin and lovely crisp sheets...clean bathroom and everything we needed !
"Great trip"
Some how we managed to get the dates wrong on our internet booking, not a problem at Rhodes ticket desk, dates changes and we had a very nice ride to Symi.
"Seating plans need review"
The 4.20am ferry on 1st July was an hour latte yet amazingly arrived very close to scheduled time. There were no seats on the ferry!! People were taking 2 to3 seats per person, many seats just had bags on and when I asked someone if one of the seats was free I was greeted with an aggressive NO. So my second trip on a Blue Star ferry in a week was spent on a hard chair in the corridor, for 4 hours. Not good. There were bodies all over the floor, it was more like a refugee boat than a ferry. Not my best experience as a frequent ferry traveller!!
"Syria trip"
Excellent
"Excellent experience all round "
We got a nine hour ferry from Rhodes to Santorini, I generally suffer from terrible motion sickness and have to say this was one of the best ferry crossings we’ve ever had. We booked a cabin so it was great to be able to lie down and have a proper seat. That said there are plenty of comfy seats and when we were getting off at 2am this morning people were crashed out all over- and looked comfortable. There were a couple of places to eat, a shop and pretty great facilities all round. I’d definitely recommend
"Ferrie refund follow up "
Hi there! I still have not received the refund for the cancelled ferrie ride? Was just following that up, thanks.
"Nice trip in ferry "
The trip on the ferry was generally very good and relaxing, just a few items that could be improved. Entering and disembarking the ship to potentially a bit too long, and was a bit confusing for passangers without cars, we saw people carrying pushchairs and very large suitcases and dig cages etc up the steep steps . Also for the outdoor areas there could have been some more chairs available, both fixed and loose ones. As people were arguing a bit about getting a seat in the limited sun spots on the deck. But overall a positive experience Kind regards
"The perfect way to travel!"
Beautiful boat with excellent facilities, bars were nice, plenty of places to be very comfortable and get a great view, something for everyone. Super smooth journey and you can even get WiFi on board which was excellent!
"Easy and comfortable "
Large ship with plenty of space and many different seating areas. Bars and cafes all looked nice. Slept quite well in the airline seats. Very friendly staff. Would thoroughly recommend.
"Excellent service and value for money"
We always use Blue Star to travel to the Greek islands. They are always on time and give value for money.
"Great out, grim back"
Trip commenced with 2 stressful events - tickets couldn't be obtained electronically and the site for securing paper tickets wasn't easy or clear - there was no online information as to what terminal the ferry would depart from and with the port large and widely distributed this created unnecessary stress Trip from Athens to Syros was very comfortable leaving at about 0730 (with business class available). Trip was fast and there were many available seats Trip from Syros to Athens was very uncomfortable and the sailing time was ludicrous (0400). No business or first class available, economy was full before the arrived. We(and many others had tired small children without comfortable seats and with poor catering
"Very comfortable ride from Rhodes to Kos "
The ship was so smooth we didn't even feel as though we were at sea. Super comfortable with a lot of amenities on board. Would highly recommend.
"Great service"
Really good service, easy crossings all to schedule and very comfortable on board. Great way to start and end the holiday.
"Very good!!!"
Very good!!
"Hotel on water!"
The cabin was clean and comfortable. Wifi was good. 12 Euros for wifi on 2 devices and movies.
"Excellent cruise"
The Blue Star Ferries are modern, clean, comfortable. The dining room is excellent, the quality of food and service utmost. Traveling at night, in a cabin, is the best way to reach the distant islands, much better than by plane. We really enjoyed.
"Santorini to Rhodes 7 October 2016"
We travlue Star 2 which seems to be very new and has good facilities throughout the ship. It leaves Thira conveniently at 00.50 and gets into Rhodes at 09.00. We had a two berth outside cabin. It was quiet and spotlessly clean with own bathroom. The beds were comfortable and we slept through til 07.30. Very worthwhile and I would do it again. There appears to be a very nice restuarant as well as the usual cafes and if I did this by day I think I would give it a try. The prices looked reasonable. I would recommend this ship and the cabin is well worth the extra cost.
"Pleasant voyage"
Our voyage from Santorini to Piraeus was smooth. We had a cabin, which was spacious, clean, with hot shower and clean towels and toiletries. We arrived in Piraeus rested and on time. As we were approaching the port of Piraeus, the air conditioning allowed some diesel smell in like airplanes do before they start moving on the ground. The ship was clean and tidy throughout and had plenty of seating space in the lounges. As our voyage started at midnight, most cafes, restaurants and shops were shut and one could only choose from a limited selection of drinks and snacks. It would be nice if the ship had wifi available. Free shuttle bus took us from the point of arrival near to the port exit/metro station.
"Ferry"
Have travelled on Blue star few times before over the years . Can not fault it. Staff friendly. Ship exceptionally clean. Food very nice .
"Traveling "
We traveled to Athens from Mykonos on blue star ferries Aug 2016. The ferry was was very comfortable and professionally run. It was clean and had a varitiy of food choices to keep our family of 5 happy! I would recommend This journey
"Great service a facilities!"
We recently travelled from Kos to Santorini on Blue Star 2. It was brilliant with no hassles. We had allocated 'airlounge' seats which we paid about £2 extra for. These are big seats and they are very comfortable. However, the ferry is so huge, there are hundreds of other places to sit too... Overall, it was a great experience and well worth the money- much easier than flying with a lot less hassle. Just remember to pick up your ferry tickets at the port before travelling, as they do not accept emailed tickets.
"Efficient friendly service"
Enjoyable final trip of a great holiday -- comfortable, value for money
"Good experience "
The ferry is really beautiful and it made our trip comfortable. The only thing is that I find ridiculous that there is no free WiFi, I believe that nowadays is ridiculous to pay for that as an extra service.
"Comfortable and clean"
Very good way to travel, an organised company, no problems. Cabins very clean and comfortable. Would advise to buy tickets in greece rather than on line as its more expensive online booking
"Book a Cabin"
For the small price difference I would recommend booking a cabin to sleep in the overnight ferry trip to Rhodes from Santorini. The main bar is closed at night, so you'll want a nice place to rest :)
"OK but ..."
We got there early and were told to park under the ramp. As we sat down to eat we were called down to move the car. Given the deck was almost empty this seemed ridiculous. The food was lukewarm and trays of food were sitting on top of other ones. Felt sorry for the catering staff because you could not even see what they had on offer. We found the one spot we could sit and not hear a TV. Crew member came and turned them all on in the air lounge and there was no-one there! I asked him to turn them off but he refused. No-one watches TV so why not have some quiet areas? Loos kept very clean.
"Journey Santorini Kos"
Excellent cabin, clean and comfortable. All in perfect time. Excellent value for money.
"Travelling on Blue Star Ferries"
I have been travelling with Blue Star Ferries many times over the past few years, from Kos to Rhodes, Rhodes to Symi, Symi to Santorini, Santorini to Athens and a few more journeys. I have always found this service to be very good, very comfortable ferries with enough room and sevices to make even a long journey enjoyable, I will always use Blue Star when travelling between the Greek islands.
"Ferry between Mykonos and Syra"
COMFORTABLE JOURNEY AND PERFECT TIME
"Punctual and efficient service"
My husband and I recently travelled from Pireaus to Syros with Hellenic and their service was punctual and efficient. They provide all of the essential services required for a three hour crossing. Good points: paperless check in & plenty of seating Mediocre points: table seating was uncomfortable after a while - bad design. Cinema style seating very good however. All announcements over the tannoy were in Greek, slightly unnerving when you need to know when to get off the boat and you don't speak the language!
"journey"
Too high prices to eat and drink, the rest ok.
"Wonderful"
The Blue Star ferries are wonderful. They are clean and comfortable and the food and drink available are of good quality and reasonable prices, especially when compared to those on British travel services. Seating can be difficult to find on busy crossing but that is the case the world over unless travelling first class. A great, cheap way to travel throughout the Greek islands. Friendly and helpful staff are easy to find.
"Very good journey"
Pleasant trip between islands with one stop at Kos. Ship very clean and comfortable. Cabins very comfortable and easy to rest and shower in them.
"Good service"
Good service, punctual and clean ships
"Nice trip"
Me and my boyfrend travelled the night between the 4th and 5th of August to go from Piraeus to Rhodes. It wa a long journey (13hours!) but nice, there are cafè, restaurant, relax areas to read and whatch movies, etc. We booked the intern cabin, small but with all the comfort, WC, shower, mirror and bed (ours were bunk bed but I also saw cabins with regolar beds) All super clean. Good guys :)
"Clean"
A part from the not really comfortable departure time, it was punctual, comfortable bed, clean cabin. I arrived in Rhodes well rested
"a pleasant journey on board Blue Star 2 from Mykonos to Syros"
the ship was enormous, very clean, and quite comfortable. On-time departure and arrival. Highly recommend!
"Outstanding service, very straightforward "
Island hopping in the Greek Isles has never been so easy. Very pleasantly surprised by the luxury and efficiency of Blue Star Ferries.
"Well Worth The Extra!"
After few nights in Santorini discovered only ferry to Rhodes/Symi leaving 3.20 am! Consequently decided to spend extra £20 on outside luxury cabin which was worth every penny and enabled us to arrive at Rhodes completely refreshed and relaxed at 11.30 am. Also impressed with quality of ferry and helpfulness of staff
"Great adventure"
We set off at 3.40 am, very organised at the ferry terminal and fascinating to watch the activity involved with unloading and loading a ferry. We stayed in a cabin, which we where shown too efficiently and we were asleep by 4.10am, i would say. A great experience and would do it again
"Great way to travel to islands and start holiday"
we had a wonderful trip from Piraeus to Kos overnight in a delux cabin. Great accommodation and wonderful meal in restaurant with a memorable view of the sunset over the Aegean. all good :)
"kos to rhodes"
Great ferry service overall just disappointed in the amount of time in Rhodes
"way to go"
hassle free and comfortable way to travel between Rhodes and Greek mainland
"To Leros"
all excellent
"Ferry Piraeus - Patmos"
As before this time again I have had an excellent time meeting new friends and old acquaintances on the line, it is easy to connect and with all the bars and food available until late at night a joy and part of the experience of travelling.
"Easy journey!"
I travelled with a friend from Rhodes to the UK, with my car. This part was easy, the ferry staff were friendly and helpful. We found the restaurant reasonably priced and the general comfort on board was good. No problems, would travel with Blue Star again. I was told by a frequent traveller that it is worth joining their loyalty scheme for discounts and offers so I will do that.
"On the way to Patmos"
My trip with Blue Star Ferries from Piraeus to Kos and then later from Kos to Piraeus went very well. The boat departed and arrived in time in both directions. The staff onboard was very friendly and helpful and the boat was well equipped, clean, neat and modern. The only thing that annoyed me was that it was so expensive to buy a private cabin. The trip overall could've been cheaper since I didn't travel during the high season. The airplane chairs were good though, you could get some rest. What was most unfortunate for me was that there were so few ferries between Piraeus and Patmos (that was my end destination) during low season, so I had to travel via Kos and then wait for the catamaran that took me between Kos and Patmos. On the other hand I got a nice trip between the islands!
"Piraeus to Kos Blue Star 2 ferry 8/9 October 2014"
Great experience and a very impressive service. Only difficulties encountered were finding which pier the ferry left from and not knowing that the electronic ticket had to be changed to a boarding ticket, if this could be stated on the electronic ticket I'm sure it would help travellers not familiar with the system. Would definitely use again and recommend.
"Excellent travel experience"
My whole travel experience was straightforward and pleasant from booking on line, upgrading to a cabin facility departure, trip and arrival despite not being able to speak Greek.
"good experience"
departure on time, comfortable ship, good self service restaurant with good prices.
"Good service"
The ferry was punctual, clean & had adequate facilities on board. I had only good experiences of using Blue Star Ferries.
"Thanks."
It was a perfect trip.. Thanks a lot.
"excellent"
We travelled on the 25/08 from Patmos to Kos with Blue Star Ferries.beautiful ship, good organization on board, comfortable seats and friendly staff. Tasty coffee
"amazing"
deaprture on time, comfy seats, perfect
"Travelling with Bluestarferries on Greek domestic lines"
I've travelled many times on BS ferris across the Aegean and each time with pleasure. The ships are clean, well kept and the stafff is helpfull and always nice. Most of them speak good english which of course helps the foreigners ! .
"trip to Kos"
excellent trip, on time
"Very pleasant voyage"
We did the overnight ferry from Syros to Kos. It worked very well and was a bit of an adventure, and a wonderful experience. We stayed up late sitting at the back of the ship watching the islands disappear and staring into the wake! I woke at 4 am and watched the sunrise over the islands which was magic. We had a 4 berth cabin for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and it was surprisingly spacious, even with 5 large bags/suitcases and hand luggage. It all seemed very efficient. It was very punctual and they kept to the schedule very well, and we arrived exactly on time. We got an early morning call, even though we had not ordered it, as we arrived at Kos at 06.05. I recommend picking up the tickets in advance from a ticket agencey, as I understand you can do this even a few days in advance. The escalators from the ground floor to the upper decks meant we did not have to struggle with our luggage. It was remarkably easy to book on line, compared to in previous years.
"timetables"
excellent service and departure on time
"excellent experience"
Ship very nice, departure on time. Comfortable with a lot of bars, restaurants, lounge rooms with TV. So it has been a little cruise
"Crossing Piraeus Patmos on the Blue Star ferry"
Excellent experience: great welcome from the staff, cabin was lovely (clean and very comfortable like the rest of the ship!) and the restaurant was pleasant too. Definitely an experience i'd like to go through again and happily recommend to anyone who is thinking of using Blue Star.
"Overnight Mini - Cruise"
Excellent trip - organised loading and unloading of the car. Comfortable cabin. Excellent restaurant. Excellent service from the crew. Everything one needed after a long drive. Hope to enjoy the experience again
"Excellent speed and comfortable travel."
We used the ferry between Kos and Patmos. Great boat and this method of travel is very comfortable. An extra holiday feeling beside you stay on the island! When we left on Patmos we saw a wonderful sunrise. Service operated exactly on time which is rare. The disembarkation procedure is an experience too.
"Wonderful trip to Kos"
Travelled with my wife and we really enjoyed the trip from Piraeus to Kos very much. Cabin was spacious and very clean. Dinner on board was excellent. All in all very good. Highly recommend.
