Easy online ticket, remember to print. Be aware that it might be hard to find a taxi to the port in Civitaveccia as it is a cruise harbor if you have no car. Clean and nice ferry. Took 8 hours, not 6.

"Noisy Tired and old....not value for money"
Over £400 for return trip with car and 2 adults with cabin .....ferry was tired and shabby...cabins had smelly toilet broken curtains and not too hygienic bathrooms..worst was noise all night as an old ferry so paid for a cabin but not possible to sleep due to clunking all night....we have taken overnight ferry’s before and never had this so bad.....use another ferry company if you can like Sardinia ferries rather than this one.if you do have to use this one take your own food......11 euros for 2 coffees and 2 croissants for breakfast......usual price even in capital tourist area is about 6 or 7 so total rip off.

we traveled with my family during the night - 10 hours from Civitavencchia to Arbatax. I recommend for sure to reserve a cabine if you want to have a shower and sleep. the food in the restaurant was good, the trip was safe and the staff was polite and friendly. need to buy tickets in advance and just copy on a paper to show on the entrance.

Very pleasant for the most part. Air conditioning set too low, everyone had jumpers on. Food way too expensive and cold on arrival, microwave didn’t work.

Tirrenia Bithia is a very comfortable ship, the cabin it was first class for real, big and clean. There are not so many bar/restaurant/self service, but it was fine. Really good breakfast at the restaurant. The restaurant, the seats and all the enviroments are really fancy.

The ship was ship shape, on time, the cabins compact/clean and comfortable. BUT the boarding process in Civitavecchia utterly chaotic. Poor signage, only one luggage scanner and not enough staffing. Better in Cagliari but still long lines to check in. The sit down restaurant was a real disappointment. They did not have half of the items on the menu and and did not provide the proseco as the menu advertised for the fixed price diner. My advice "self cater" unless you are a snack bar fan.

We took the ferry from cittivecchia to oblia sardenia and all went well as it could. the boat was available for boarding quite early so we could settle in. The directferries web site made booking the trip very easy. the only small drawback was that when you pulled up the options for the trip you wish the options to other destinations also pop up. in other words if you want to go to oblia, the trips to cagliari pop up in line at the bottem of the page. if not careful you might book a trip to the wrong destination. there is not demarcation between the two destinations. but all in all direct ferrys worked great and i will use them again

During the booking it was written that you should arrive at the port at least 120 minutes prior to departure of the ferry. We arrived 60 minutes prior and had no problems. Very good bar, a lot of space to walk. We really enjoyed our trip.

We booked online and got a confirmation email. On the confirmation, it said that tickets must be picked up at the port, and besides the confirmation, we had no other proof that the tickets were purchased. On arrival at the port, it was not clear what was expected of us. The check-in point turned out to be an office (somewhere in a mall) which wasn’t located at the port. We had to leave the car somewhere else to go and collect the tickets from the office. The employee at the office barely understable, his English was as lousy as our Italian, so it was hard to communicate. After collecting the tickets, we had to return to the car and make our way to another place where the check-in point was located. Very inconvenient. We certainly were not the only ones who had to do this. More information in advance would be apprieciated, or just sending the tickets by mail would also be more convenient. Everything else was fine.

"A more transparent fare"
I've been taking the ferry for holidays in Sardinia for 20 years, therfore I think I am very experienced regarding that journey. Everything is good overall, the staff is polite, the food is good and varied, the cleanliness of the cabin is not as good. The ferry fare has increased a lot in the last few years (but it has for all companies), the only thing that annoys me is that there is no longer a list of fares like there was in the previous years, with clear and fixed priced for each thing during low, intermediate and high season.

The ferry was quick and inexpensive, as it was low season. However, sleeping in a seat is definitely uncomfortable! It’s cold, uncomfortable and some lights were switched back on at 5.20am without any reason, as we could only access our car at 8am.

Wow, the ferry service with Tirrenia has certainly improved since I last took the ferry from Civitavecchia to Olbia and Olbia to Genoa (and back) in 1994. The facilities and staff were wonderful. The stateroom, an exterior two-person first class cabin, was adequately equipped with fresh towels, nice bed linens and toiletries. I definitely recommend to those possibly sitting on the fence deciding whether to take Tirrenia. An enjoyable journey. The meal service left a bit to be desired but was adequate.

The staff on the ship was generally unmotivated and unfriendly. We were sold croissants, although they had no more. Unfortunately, at first nobody wanted to help, ie get money back or new croissants. I've been taking the ferry from Genua-Porto Torrer two ways. I can strongly recommend the operator. The check in was working perfect. The staff on broad was very helpful, well cleaned cabin. Would be good if you could speak Italian. The information from the speakers was only in italian. Wierdly, only on the outbound route, on the return route you could hear the information in english. I will come back next summer!

Outward journey: ship hardly occupied, the deck we were almost alone in the cafeteria, the friendly man behind the counter had even time, to heat the rather expensive cheese salami sandwich. cabin is although loud engine noise, but otherwise TOP Return journey: ship very full and the deck locked. The lounges were pretty stuffed and cheese sandwich cold not edible. Cabin: The next morning, went for a short time at the toilet flushing nothing more, but otherwise the cabin again TOP: Clean beds and this time managed to get even quieter cabin. Too bad that there are no seating on deck. But if you know it, you can take something to sit on onto thee deck. remarkable the friendliness especially the cabin cleaning staff. Thanks also to direct ferries - has everything worked out great!

Return trip to Olbia were ok The cabins were spacious and clean. The price of 223 € for round-trip including outside cabin and car is very cheap. Criticism: All aboard Information only in Italian! If this is even in an emergency standard as the panic is inevitable. Necessary to turn car by 180 degrees when you want to get out of the shipwithout being helped in any way by the staff. No regulatory intervention.

It's very easy when you come from the highway to find the harbor entrance and the check-in. The check in went quickly. Since my husband could not travel, we got even vouchers for dinner free. The embarkation went without stress in a useful period of time. The cabin with 4 beds was very well equipped and clean. The dinner was super good, really fresh fare I know the Italian food good, since my husband is Italian. I was extremely satisfied with the crossing to Porto Torres. Disembarkation was also without any problems. I can understand the shipping company Tirrenia only recommend, I had previously read all the negative posts.

The ship is very old and musty. Cabins especially the bathroom is full of everywhere quirks on and clean it was unfortunately not. The mattresses were totally worn out. The food at the fast food restaurant was expensive and barely edible. And the staff something of unfriendly. We have already made some ferry rides, but never with the Tierren and this we will never do it again. Can only advise. Rather pay a few more euros. If you do not speak Italian one has to understand what a bad hand when making an announcement, it makes the effort to translate into english not.

The overall prestations were good for the price, but the timekeeping wasn't good. It was ok for us, because we had our own vehicle, but it's more complicated for people who have a train or a flight to catch. I appreciated the tickets check in, the responses given by the call centre and the information by SMS if there's a problem. I am satisfied and happy with the price.

The cabins and the facilities were adequate, the self service restaurant was not adequate, in terms of quality and the prices very expensive, bar areas were unusable for the amount of people who seem to use them as a place to sleep.. The Tirrenia offers currently (autumn 2013) the only ferry from Genoa to Porto Torres, Sardinia. These monopoly mainly reflected in the prices. The ferries are well equipped and meet the international standard. The staff is friendly and competent . Gastronomy - with the exception of the hunted, extremely meager breakfast - is OK, slightly better than the competition (on other similar routes).

The trip was beautiful along the coast of Sardinia. HOWEVER if you want to go to the bar, the restaurant or any shop you want to find out did the selection as well as the willingness service is very limited, as if there was no crisis. They could do a lot of business on board but just miserably miss any opportunity. So sad. On top: the cabin was not clean, the towels not Replaced and no toileteries. Same trip never again.

We had to stay in our cabin because of a very agitated sea during the outbound journey. During the inbound journey, the sea was calm and the crossing went well. We were expecting more courtesy from the staff though to guide us through the different decks and to the places where we could it. We were disappointed with the cold meals and the expensive price of the crossing. We doubt that we'll use Tirrenia again.

At first, my wife and I were still skeptical and imagined us what could have happen. Now after the holidays we can clearly give the all-clear. It all worked out super. Good Morning, on the contrary of other opinions that I have heard about the Tirrenia ferries, I want to give my thoughts about it. In my opinion Tirrenia is the only company which is punctual, the other companies instead arrive late in order to keep the customes onboard longer so that they have to eat on board and spend a lot more money..
"Crossing with Tirrenia from Genoa to Porto Torres "
We had deliberately taken the overnight ferry and the so-called Pullman seats booked (these are dorms with rows of seats as the plane, and 3 times a times a 2-seater series). The seats are quite small and can hardly be reclined, sleeping is anything but relaxing. Are we sure do not in this form again. We traveled in threes, and the Italians managed either on the way or on the return trip, contiguous to reserve a three-seat bench for us (we had a reservation made in February on the Internet). If again, either by plane or cabin on the ship, but the latter is much more expensive.

On the way we were very happy until the state of the toilets, which were creepy. ON the way back we had seats that you can not lean back and we were scattered that goes with children (5 and 9) not at all. We then tried to secure a place in the bar, the only thing we were able to get was a bed right on the dance floor, where we were exposed to 1 clock with karaoke, which was hard, but because of the distribution is otherwise not possible . So please let families together. Tip: why you can because with the seats, the center armrest does not fold up, as were families who can not book early and therefore do not pay the cab, at least the opportunity to settle with his child a little cozy on these chairs. And it's been tough: we have about 3 and a half months previously booked and almost 900, - paid without a cab. We met a family who has already booked nearly 1 year before: who 700, - paid WITH cabin. I travelled on the way there with Nuraghes ship: the cabin was clean, but during the return journey I found the cabin really dirty. The staff of the return trip was impolite. Excellent general services

I had booked 1st class seats several months ago. However, after some vague explanation, we were given 2nd class seats. The service is good otherwise. I think that safety should be reviewd though. Passengers sit and lay down in the corridors. Imagine if there's an incident during the night!

Trip from hell, I wasted €953, h3 delay on the outbound journey and condition on board to forget! The seats were not reclining. It seems we were travelling to Siberia (at least the air conditioning was working). The condition of the toilet, 15 minutes prior departure, were awful. Toilets were obstructed and there was water everywhere. Despite many passengers complained about the freezing condition, we've been told that they couldn't do much. I wouldn't recommend to travel with Tirrenia. Thanks

The boarding was perfect…The disembarkment was very long. We had to wait nearly an hour in the stairs before we could access the garages (were were litterally evicted from our cabins). No excuse and no explanation…. A employee even told us that 'it's normal....you wait.....!'

I am sorry but i didn't enjoy the trip. I couldn't find a cabin and it would have cost anyway €400 just for myself, so I booked a seat. It was comfortable but i was surrounded by passengers sleeping on the floor and dogs everywhere. Besides it was very cold. After 20 years instead of improving they are regressing.

"Very good services,only the staff wasn't that good"
I have nothing to say about the journey, it was really comfortable, there were only two negative things, the first one was in regard of the time that we have spent for disembarking procedure that it was so slow, the second negative thing was about the staff, the staff wasn't so professional especially at the restaurant area.

The way there trip was quite good, because the ferry was not so crowded, the return journey was really stressful, so much so that we have decided to not use tirrenia again, there were so many people and they were seated all over the ferry, and also the quality of the seats were not so good.

In general, the crossing was satisfactory. On the positive side: We left and arrived on time, and the cabine what reasonably comfortable, spacious and clean. Amenities on the ferry were various. Self-service restaurant food was good, idem, the coffee at the bar, cinema, bar, another restaurant Provided many services. On the negative side: the organization which rather chaotic, nobody to guide cars on the ferry and from the ferry, we were at the counter of allocated a cabine not CORRESPONDING to our booking and most of the staff what anything, but friendly. The repetitive annoucnements by loudspeaker in the cabine were annoying.

Service in the restaurant was very poor (waiters stood around in little guests in the restaurant, but did not care for the guests. The quality of the food was very poor. (On the ride home much more attentive service, eating better)

Goodmorning, I just wanted to spent a few words to describe my experience with Tirrenia. On the outbound trip we didn't have any problems, while on the return trip we had the following hitches: - h2 delay - The ferry wasn't clean due to the delay - Many services not available cause to work in progress Delays can happen but I was puzzled about the cleanliness on board. Conditions not acceptable for the passengers.

The confort of the 1st class cabin was too austere. 2 small towels for 3 people. Woken up in the middle of the night by strident beep sounds. Expensive meals and cold food.

It's COLD. Think of bringing jumper and scarf. During the return journey, there was baby pee on my seats. Thankfully, I was able to move seats. It's quiet otherwise and you can sleep easily.

Problem-crossing, good ship. We were too early in Genova and had to wait a long time. The gate will not open until 16:00. But Genovas harbor is a good place to pass the time itself. Museum, pirate ship, restaurants, etc. ;-) On the way back we could equally go to the ship. Do not forget, before going to the gate, you redeem the direct ferries voucher in the Office of Tirrenia .

We had booked seats for the night crossing, but how can we be expected to sleep under a spotlight? The journey was as a consequence a lot more tiring than anticipated!!

we were with the performance satisfid, But the signposting to Porto Torres to the ticket office was absolutely bad. found this just under a lot of Stess! In addition, the announcements on the ferries are not to be understood, slurred English. A third language between two foreign, would certainly be useful for the many tourists. In an emergency, we would have understood nothing.

I travelled to Sardinia with Tirrenia for the first time and I noticed lots of incompetence, delays and disorganization. Staff on board wasn't kind. I would go back to Sardinia because its a beautiful land, but I will travel with a different operator as I've been told there are ferries that are kept better and have more sevices on board and friendly staff.

Boarding and disembarking went VERY quick. You had to figure out yourself where you had to be and when because the lady at the desk only spoke Italian. It was very nice and tidy on board. Travelling by boat was definitely not cheap.

The cabin we had during the inbound journey wasn't in a good state. The shower bar was broken, the tap was shaky, the seals on the cabin shower were mouldy. Tirrenia should really think about refurbishing their cabins. Nothing to say otherwise.

Contrary to our previous experience, it was necessary with the online booking documents visit the office of the shipping company to get the tickets for the crossing, which led to confusion and loss of time. The service at the cabin allocation was miserable. All cabin passengers were at a reception, to which indeed were five crew members, but four of them were obviously just decoration during the booth opening cards spent. According to long were the waiting times. For other shipping companies this can be done differently. Our first-class cabins were inadequately cleaned. In addition, the decor was very worn and in need of renovation. There were no reasonable hand or bath towels available. We have found only three small dish towels with which showers was not possible. The toilet on the car was broken and could not satisfactorily be set repair despite our complaint. On deck, there was no sitting, although we left already at 14.00 clock in Arbatax and really wanted to enjoy the ride on the Sardinian coast on the deck with views of the island. All announcements were almost exclusively in Italian. Only the reference to the on-board restaurants successes in addition to incomprehensible English. Conclusion: We are just driven two times with this shipping company, namely the first and the last.

the ticket again made on Tirrenia switch in the 2 floor of the shopping center in Genua. Avoided a lot bureaucracy. A lot off staff that actualy was not working. My answer if I could recommend this ship: rather not! but you depend on thiss ship as there are only a few ships to cross or they are in bad conditionss.

I wanted just to inform you that the service received on the journey from Genova to Porto torres it was a bit disappointing because of the behaviour of staff, infact, they were unfriendly and impolite and I have to say that also the ticket was expensive.

"I have a crossing from Genoa to Arbatax (Sardinia) in June 2013 booked with Direct Ferries shipping company. Tirrenia The booking has to work quickly and reliably. However, little information is obtained for check-in. I had only received a booking confirmation; With this in hand, I had to look find the ticket counter, where I was handed the relevant documents including barcode. Anyway, the book had worked! The ship ("Bithia" of TIRRENNIA) there are not too many positive things to report, especially as far as the cleanliness. The cabin (4 beds) very small, which was to be expected, but also very dirty, especially the toilets were really unappetizing. We had to clean the first time brought disinfectant spray the toilet area! The flush-down of the toilet has only worked every 5th - 6th time - more details I conceal. Even the carpet (!) was probably not sucked for quite some time. For the princely sum of just under EUR 1200 -. 2 adults + 1 child of four + 1 car in the preseason, I would have expected at least a clean cabin. After all, the sheets and towels were freshly laundered. A look under the mattress I saved ... Reception staff very rude. Positive, we were surprised by the restaurant where we ate really well. The snack area we have not tested. The ship has otherwise not very much, for children nothing: a children's area was closed, but it was also not a single toy. The shop was a building site. Somehow I had the feeling of having been there on the last trip of the Bithia. So up to the deck, where, unfortunately, followed the next (nasty) surprise: there the dogs are in fact housed in a kennel and they are on the deck of the owners also a walk-out, which partially around for hours lying excrement testified - in the night you had to watch. So nothing like a romantic evening on the deck. In conclusion, something positive: the crossings were very punctual and we arrived safely. Pretty ship, but the finishing touch of the cabin was less. A few of the shower curtain hooks were missing, which caused the curtain to hang untidily. It's also a pity that, while the self service restaurant is easy to find, the a la carte restaurant is slightly hidden. We didn't see untill after we had eaten. The food in the self service restaurant was not nice and the cappuccino horrible.
