The Athara is a fast cruise ferry and has a capacity of almost 3000 passengers. It can hold up to 900 cars in its garages. Cabins are modern, well equipped and all come with their own shower, sink and toilet. On board you will find a bar, restaurant, self-service restaurant, children’s play area and a cinema.

"Good experience overall"
The ship was very nice and well-kept. The food was quite expensive and cold (I had both dinner and breakfast the next morning in the self-service dining hall). Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The ship left port a bit after the scheduled time - maybe 30 mins, but no matter as it was an overnight trip. However the original arrival time in Genova was meant to be 6:30 and we arrived at 7:20 and disembarked finally at 8:00. Again, not a big issue, but not sure why anything changed. Perhaps due to the windy/wavy weather that night. Overall a good experience though!

The only issue was with direct ferries - they put the wrong name on the booking, ignored my request to change which caused issues
"Ferry"
The ship we were on had everything we needed. The ferry looks a bit tired, the cabins are spacious but again, tired. On the way back we had seats and the bathrooms were nit kept clean, which is obviously the passengers fault but a clean every few hours wouldn't harm and would make the journey much more pleasant. On the way back we were informed about a delay, which was nice. On the outbound journey we weren't I formed.

We sailed from Olbia to Civitavecchia then onto Rome. The ship was great, everything you need. The cabin was a little noisy due to the vibrations from the engine but this is unavoidable. Would definitely do again.

"nice first exciprience"
we traveled with my family during the night - 10 hours from Civitavencchia to Arbatax. I recommend for sure to reserve a cabine if you want to have a shower and sleep. the food in the restaurant was good, the trip was safe and the staff was polite and friendly. need to buy tickets in advance and just copy on a paper to show on the entrance.

Me and my wife really enjoyed the journey it was really fancy and thank fort that also quiet sea. Ship was clean. We found a relly competent and helpfull staff. We arrived in advance. The ticket was not too expansive. Always like that Mrs Tirrenia. Compliments and good job!

We were in 4 and we slept in a first class cabin. Comfortable trip both ways, I'll book it again. The only problem has been the dinner, the queue was too long for the self-service so we choose the restaurant… bad idea! low quality of food and service, too expensive.

"A Tirrenia Sardinia ferry crossing between Porto Torres and Genoa"
As it was low season, the journey was very good: the ship was clean, the cabin was well laid out and we disembarked on time. The only potential issue was the disorganisation at boarding (the check-in takes place at the ferry terminal, which is more than 2 kilometres away from the jetty). If someone arrives in Porto Torres and follow the signposting for boarding, they end up needing to go back to check-in and then to the jetty again.

Nothing to report regarding the reception in Genoa and in Porto Torres. Nothing to report about the boarding and the disembarkment. The self service restaurant could be better. The waiting time to pay is too long and the dished which are barely warm become cold. One negative: the morning coffee in the self restaurant is disgusting. It's awful, especially after a week of excellent Italian coffee. Except for the coffee (which is not a major issue anyway), everything was fine.

The journey was relaxed and peaceful, it's a pity that is not always like that, if the prices could be cheaper.. Sardinia could have much more tourists!

"Car Ferry Genoa-Porto Torres "
The boat tour was on the whole in order. On the negative side acoustically unintelligible loudspeaker announcements. The food in the buffet restaurant was lukewarm, the choice of breakfast on the return trip meager. Places to stay in the bar area were severely limited by passengers who occupied their sleeping places there.
"Porto Torres to Genoa September 2013"
Directferries' confirmation email stated that the tickets could be collected at the warf. When got there we were sent back because we had to collect them from Stazione Maritima, roughly 1km in the direction of the city. Queued up there again. Unbelievable that Directferries provides incorrect information!! the journey itself was satisfactory, but we did think that too many passengers claimed public space to sleep (even double air matrasses).

A charming journey in a cabin. We had meals at the self restaurant. Good value. We appreciated the kindness of the staff. If we ever go back to Sardinia, we'll use the same company.

It was the first we used this company to go to Sardinia. We were expecting a cruise like boat and were disappointed. It was an old, dirty boat and there were no attractions on board (swimming pool, spa, night club). The food was bad and expensive and the cabins were unsanitary (mold in the shower, holes in the linen, dirty furnitures). The staff was unpleasant too. We really don't recommend this company!

I wouldn't use this company again. Almost 800 euros, but quality and service weren't there… The next time, I'll use Grandi Navi Veloci.

The crossings went well. However, due to a bad guidance from your staff, my car almost fell between deck 3a and 3b. The signposting of the garage deck during the return crossing was lacking, and a lot of passengers got lost because of the 2 levels.
"Clean ferry"
We had a nice trip: the ferry was clean on both journeys, the staff onboard was friendly and we arrived on time, which is unusual for Tirrenia! Let's hope they carry on providing this service because it's much better comparing to some years ago. I would suggest to take a jacket or blanket because in July it's colder inside that outside! On the bad side, the ticket fares are too high: we took the ferry only because we were invited to a wedding, otherwise we wouldn't have paid €323 for 2 people on seats and a fiat punto!

We booked 1st class seat, but they no longer exist. We were offered 2nd class seats without any refund. We refused and has to take a cabin for an extra fee. I don't think that's correct. The cleanliness of the facilities and the quality are catering are also getting worse with La Tirrenia

There isn't any space for the kids to play. Moreover, the cinema wasn't working. Otherwise, it went well.
