Vaasanlaivat

Vaasanlaivat, now known as Wasaline, operates the popular crossing between western Finland and north-eastern Sweden, on the route from Vaasa to Umea, respectively.

Their name in Finland, 'Vaasanlaivat', is literally translated as 'Vasa boat', though they are better known by the name Wasaline. Bringing the first large ferry to the Gulf of Botnia, the daily service across the gulf provides a convenient shortcut between the cities of Vaasa in Finland, and Umea of Sweden, saving you hundreds of kilometres when compared to the alternative of travelling by road.

Umea was named the European Capital of Culture in 2014, and boasts the second largest art gallery in Sweden, while its prime location below the Arctic Circle makes it a popular destination for North Light admirers. Sitting across the gulf, Vaasa, while more industrial than its Swedish counterpart, is known for its 14th Century ruins, beautiful university campuses and the Finland Statue of Freedom in the market square.
