"An experience we do not wish to repeat. "
There is only one operator on the Dubrovnik to Bari route; if there was an alternative, I would have taken it. From boarding to disembarkation, the organisation was chaotic, especially considering this is a daily ferry, we were told one thing by one official and something else by another. The ferry itself was old and hopefully not far from the scrapyard. Our outside cabin had bunk beds and a washbasin but nothing else and the shared shower that was available was in very poor condition – we looked but didn’t use it. Although we had a reasonable dinner the restaurant staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Breakfast was poor value and we declined. In fairness we have travelled several times with Jadrolinija on other routes without any problems but we not travel Dubrovnik to Bari again.
"Dreadful cabin"
The cabin was small and and in need of updating. It was at level 2, and we could hear the waves splashing against the ship all night. No chance of sleeping.
"Dubrovnik to Bari, 18 September 2022"
This started as quite a stressful day as, due to a storm the previous day, the catameran which we were supposed to get from Korcula to Dubrovnik, at 0835, to connect with the 12 noon ferry to Bari, was cancelled, resulting in us facing a 2 day delay in Dubrovnik, waiting for the next ferry, which, unbelievably happened to us the only previous time we have travelled on this route. However, on visiting the Jadrolinija office in Korcula when it opened that morning, we were told that, first of all, the 1215 catameran was running, and that the Bari ferry had been reschedued to depart at 1600, the storm apparently also having caused problems at Bari the previous night. We were first on to the already busy catameran at Korcula, maybe not a good thing as it meant that our cases ended up at the bottom of a massive pile of luggage. Also, because this vessel had passengers from the earlier cancelled one, it left Korcula 45 minutes late, and still had to call at Mljet. On the apptoach to Dubrovnik, I managed to get to the luggage, moved dozens of cases and rucksacks and managed to get our cases out, so the only problem on addival at Dubrovnik at 1530, was to get off, not an easy task going against the flow of passengers heading for their luggage. But we made it, scampered off to the Jadrolinija office to exchange our emails for tickets, and were informed there would be a further delay until 1800. Not a problem to us, we were only grateful we had actually made it. Evenyually boardedsometime before 1700 and got underway at 1825, for what turned out to be a very pleasant and calm crossing. Spent the bulk of it in the lounge with the bar, had a couple of beers and a coffee, and a chat about football with the Rijeka supporting barman. Arrival was at 0105, slightly earlier than expected, got a taxi very quickly to our hotel where we arrived at 0130, after a mad dash through the almost empty streets, and next morning we were able to continue our Intertail journey back on schedule, which hadn't looked likely that morning.
"Most dissatisfaction "
Ship should have been retired 20 years ago cabins were old and tired no ensuite, which I consider to be a basic requirement
"Too expensive compared to quality."
Our 130€ cabin was a small jail cell, with three beds and a sink. There were no toilet paper even before the left the port and when were few of the first in the ship. Food in the restaurant was horrible. The meals were dry and plain, but cheap. The breakfast included dry bread, lame coffee, lame tea, juice, overboiled eggs, cereal and muesli. The staff was 10/10!
"Crossing Adriatic "
We crossed from Bari to Dubrovnik in September 22. The departure was delayed for three hours and we were told this was due to a storm the previous day. Once on the ship the staff were extremely helpful and the cabin very clean. Shower the next morning was good. The ship arrived in Bari only 30 minutes late. As an overnight sailing we did not have meals on board. Generally a positive experience with the ship even if it was 43 years old. However the port facilities and information in Bari during our wait for the delayed ferry we’re awful. Stone floors, metal seats, no where to have refreshments with only toilet facilities made the wait very uncomfortable. Together with a lack of truthful information was a bad experience. The comments below are for the shipping line only - the port arrangements were so poor I could not grade them.
"Ferry to Bari"
Journey very delayed. Little information available. Finally left at 7pm. Reclining seat area very cold. Kind receptionist offered us blankets when we requested at 10.30 M
"Dubrovnik to Bari ferry"
For the money I paid it was awful, I have travelled by many ferries across Europe for years and this was by far the worst, the food quality was very poor, I'm sure the food was cooked a long time before serving, it was very bland, staff attitude was take it or leave it, shared toilets and showers for the majority of cabins which were very old and in poor condition, spoke to other passengers who booked months in advance and they were unable to get an ensuite cabin, unless you really need to use this route I would not use it at all
"Overhaul needed"
I don't know where to start, this was a very disappointing trip, right from arriving at the port and all the confusion for every foot passenger on where to go next. You have to board a bus to get dropped 2.3kms away to get your tickets printed then wait another hour to get picked up and dropped back. So glad I had plenty of time, this would have been stressful for anyone only allowing the reccomended 2hr check in time. The port signage and facilities could do with some attention. As for the cruise itself it didn't get any better. The was no baggage hold, so those with larger bags were left dragging them around the boat. I brought the dinner and breakfast as an add on, dinner was ok but bread was stale, oh and if you pay cash for your drinks the waiter just rounded the drinks up to the closest euro rather than giving change. The breakfast was very disappointing, once again stale. I don't knowhow long the coffee had been brewing but it tasted like it had gone off too. Don't bother paying for the upgrade reserve seating as it just turns out that everyone comes in after dark. The toilets were broken with no toilet paper holders in some and goodness knows when they were last cleaned. This boat needs a major overhaul.
"Easy….once you are onboard!"
Going Bari to Bar involves a shuttle bus trip to another part of the pot (and back) to pick up tickets (and it only opens from late afternoon). A pain for foot passengers. No info on this arrangement provided
"Dissatisfaction "
Ship is a disgrace! The toilets that were available, were filthy, ship should have been put rest 20 years ago
"Jadrolinia are Floating Remand Centres "
Poorly configured accommodation on these long journeys makes for a disgusting experience. No security. Nowhere to sleep, except the floor.
"Serves a purpose but not that enjoyable "
Customs at Montenegro side was quite stressful, unsure if this is their process but we didnt get on the ferry feeling very relaxed. Berth with washbasin seems quite pricey for what you get but was clean enough. Left 1.5 hours late but still arrived on time with a quicker yet similarly chaotic process. Didn’t eat onboard but enjoyed afew glasses of wine in a bar which was fine. Wouldn’t rush to do it again but not hugely regretful. Some staff pleasant, others seemed sorry to be serving you.
"Functional but nothing more"
Queuing at the start was chaotic, as the ship was slightly late to open the gate. In the information it said that boarding needed to be completed so people were getting anxious. I had a cabin for the night, and while the bed sheets were clean, the floor was not. I also had breakfast which offered very little choice, dry bread and proved to be poor value. On the positive note the reached Bari on time.
"Surprise!"
Wow, never expected such a disaster. Horrible food, horrible service be warned to ñever use this service.
"Good one. "
All as expected.
"Cancelled ferry and no compensation"
Direct Ferries have not replied to my emails after Jandrolinja cancelled the ferry between Dubrovnik and Bari on the 12th August. We have not been compensated and not received a refund. I would recommend never to book with direct ferries or Jandrolinja
"2nd class restaurant seats"
In 2nd class, there are no comfortable seats in which you can get some sleep and there are no plugs to charge phone/laptop. But the staff was friendly and the ferry was more or less punctual.
"Lack of organisation"
Total lack of organisation and uncomfortable journey made this trip mostly miserable
"Horrendous "
5 hours late. Company knew 2 days in advance it was going to be 5 hours late but never informed any passengers. Arrived at port at 9.30am but not allowed to board until 2.30pm. Finally set sail at 16.55.
"Late late late"
Unfortunately the ferry had a 5 hour delay. At first it was a 3 hour delay which was mentioned when picking up the tickets. Once there, we waited and waited and waited. In the end we embarked 5 hours late, meaning we arrived in Bari at midnight. I still had to drive 1 hour to my hotel and work the next morning. Never been so tired in my life.
"Not impressed"
Having booked my ticket online I was surprised to find this did not include the boarding pass - boarding pass will be issued upon collection from the ticket office. In order to get to the ticket office you have to get a special ferry terminal bus from within the terminal. This free journey is about 10 minutes. There is no information to tell you what time the ticket desk opens (was almost 17:30 when it did), it felt like I, as a customer, did not matter enough to have information available. In today’s digital world, surely there could be a better way of issuing boarding passes? Other travel operators seem to be able to do so. So, having secured my boarding pass all I have to do now is wait for the ferry - again as the customer I felt terribly let down by the lack of information because it was only talking to another passenger that I learned that the ferry departure time was to be delayed, no announcement to let passengers know, no information board updates that would at least have let anyone looking see that there has now been a delay. When it came time to pass through passport control there did not seem to be any structure to getting passengers through - a free for all at the ‘barrier’ which then turned into Croatians/foreign travellers first, only to have the local Italians left blocking passage for those trying to get through (quite annoying I’m sure for the locals). Upon making it to my cabin (now 4 hours after scheduled departure time - it was some time after that when we actually departed) imagine my surprise to find that there are at least 3 pet dogs close by, my chances of settling down to a well deserved sleep diminishing rapidly. Very chaotic and disorganised system that felt like perhaps the powers that be/the operators don’t really want us to be there! Not an experience to feel happy about/ to feel relaxed afterwards. On top of all that there were a range of smells that just should not be encouraged in places where humans have to dwell (even if for a relatively short period). I cannot see me recommending directferries/Bari to Dubrovnik ferry to friends and family, I cannot see myself using this service again unless major changes take place.
"Da pazzi"
Dalle 10 sotto il sole.... Iniziano a far entrare alle 11. 30 con la consapevolezza di controlli lentissimi della polizia.... Quindi ritardo di un ora sulla tratta sia in entrata che arrivo.... La ristorazione medio bassa... Pochissima organizzazione sulle informazioni...nessuno parla italiano pur facendo una tratta italiana.... Bagni da treno antichi...
"Trip Dubrovnik to Bari"
The outside of the boat was excellent but the inside was dirty and badly maintained. Some of the toilets were unusable, the staff were sullen and the self service restaurant was closed. The trip was expensive, left an hour late and arrived late.
"Ferry to Bari from Dubrovnik "
Absolute fiasco at check in two men checking passports for all passengers took so long. Had to wait in horrendous heat for two & a half hours! Thank goodness we didn't have small children with us. Hardly any snack bars or bars open, restaurant staff rude!
"Horrible experience "
After a shambles of a check in, with no prior warning of where to collect tickets, which added stress. Food closes at 10pm, which we were not aware of, and we boarded and left the dock at 10pm. General hygiene of the boat was disgraceful. Won’t be taking this journey again, nor recommending.
"Better than expected"
The room was more spacious and the bathroom better than I had been led to expect. Food in restaurant also quite OK, but cash only and the ATM is one of those ones that takes more for itself than it gives to you...
"Helpful staff "
Terrible organisation getting into ferry But once on , staff where helpful polite and competent We asked to change cabin as ours had a bad noise from above This was done promptly with no fuss . Prompt offloading in Bar Thank you
"Overall"
The ship urgently needs a thorough modernization and clean up. The toilets were filthy, no Wi-Fi, although stall helpful. Restaurant needs to offer something other than chips. Completely out of date boarding system. Had to wait too long after papers checked twice.
"An ok Trip "
The boarding on the Croatian side started over an hour later than was said with an extremely slow document control by authorities. The bathroom (male) was in a horrible state and could not be used (no fault of jadrolina but it clearly was abused by some customers who did not care to flush or anything). Credit cards could not be used and the only ATM was out of service when we tried to use it. Resulted in not being able to by dinner or even water. Luckily one kind staff member sorted us out with two small bottles in the heat. But hey we got to the other side and departing in Bari the passport control was swift.
"Prepare yourself "
PROS: drinks were cold and showers were good Cons: got put into a room where mys elf my partner and our bags didn’t fit. Different staff charged me different prices for the drinks. TIPS; don’t arrive to early otherwise you’ll be waiting outside at the docks Take your own snacks and drinks , don’t take your big bags (in the morning the lifts are locked and you have to carry luggage up and down stairs.
"all ok"
Nice trip, kind staff, all ok.
"Peaceful"
TRAVELLED WITH EFFICIENT COMPANY
"trip"
The Dubrovnik-Bari trip went very well, punctual on both ways. No problems booking online
"Dubrovnik-Bari"
Excellent service
"Trip"
Nice trip
"IT was what I expected"
My recent trip Dubrovnik to Bari was uneventful, which is good. The ship's crew was very good and organized. I would not hesitate to go again. Danny
"Bari-Dubrovnik and return "
There is no competinion on this route so it is no possible to compare. The journey was comfortable and I did not have any problems.
"amazing!"
Wonderful experience. Slept great. Lovely crew.
"excellent"
Thank you so much!
"Great experience!"
Travelling between Bari and Dubrovnik on the night ferry was not something we were looking forward to but the staff on board were not only friendly but also delightfully witty (specifically the gentlemen at reception) they were very helpful and welcoming. The only negative thing we remember was when we were looking for a place to sit for the evening (we had only deck space) we found ourselves in a hallway where the private rooms were, a staff member came around the corner and scolded us for being there and offered little help other than aggressively telling us we "belong" downstairs before even looking at our tickets. Her poor customer service was however made up by the gentlemen at reception as mentioned before. The waiters were also very nice! If you can afford it I do recommend booking a berth for a good night's sleep :)
"Positive unespected experience"
I travelled from Bari to Dubrovnik with Jadrolinija in a cabin. It was a nice trip and I slept very well, because the sea was very calm. Good breakfast, could be improved.
"Dubrovnik to Bari"
Comfortable crossing.
"Exactly what we needed"
My group of friends and me have been traveling for the past 4 weeks we need a cheap and simple way to get to Croatia. With the ferry it was super easy and although not the comfiest on the deck we managed. We were able to travel and night and then have the full day in Dubrovnik. One thing I would suggest is you should be WAY clearer in the instructions of the check-in in Berry that you need to go to a different section of the port and what time it opens at.
"Overnight Ferry Dubrovnik-Bari: could be better"
The room was big enough for an overnight trip and the beds were relatively comfortable. The staff were helpful and efficient. However, the coffee was not great and the breakfast selection was minimal. There were no towels or soap provided unlike in other ferry companies. This is the only company we could travel with for this route, but if we had another choice later on we would not choose Jadrolinija again, especially at such a high price. We found Blue Line to be more comfortable and better equipped.
"Easy and pleasant trip"
The ferry trip from Bari to Dubrovnik was easy and pleasant. Check in was fast and efficient. The trip was very nice and on/off the ship was fast and easy. Thanks, I enjoyed it.
"Ferry crossing with an unusual check-in procedure"
The crossing was great, ferry was excellent, but the check in procedure was unusual as we arrived at the port and had to take a shuttle 3kms away to check in and then shuttle back. No big deal, just be sure to arrive ahead of time as suggested.
"Great Trip"
The ferry was very convenient. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and all our needs were met. I would recommend this service to anyone. A truly great experience!
"Ferry crossing Dubrovnik - Bari"
On Sunday, September 14th, we made a day trip with Jadrolinja from Dubrovnik to Bari. We booked through Directferries and collected the tickets in the morning at the Jadrolinija ticket office. The crossing went well, we left and arrived on time. The restaurants on board offer affordable meals and there’s also a bar which serves coffee and soft drinks.
"good company"
cheap prices with Jadrolinija, excellent services on board
"trip Bari - Dubrovnic - Bari"
well organized, great breakfast on board included in the cabin price. Friendly and helpful staff.
"Ferry"
From my personal and general view, my crossing was nice. I slept on the floor in front of the chapel. The floor was clean, the light bother me during the night it was very strong and it is not turned off at night. The most unpleasant thing was, went to the bathroom, it was a strong smell of urine. A greeting.
"Bari-Dubrovnik and return "
all good, great breakfast
"Bari-Dubrovnik Jadrolinja"
Had a very positive experience with Jadrolinja. We found a comfortable spot in the lounge where we could get a few hours of sleep. At first it was very crowded but after a few hours nearly everyone on board had settled down and fallen asleep. The only negative thing was that the shop was closed.
"trip Dubrovnik-Bari"
ceiling too low for someone 2mt tall
"my trip "
all good but the noise of the sea was too strong, probably because my cabin was in the lower deck. Toilets in the common area dirty. Good breakfast in the morning
"quiet trip"
We travelled from Bari to Dubrovnik with a cabin. Quiet and relaxing trip even if there were people sleeping everywhere on the carpet. Good restaurant
"on time but too busy"
I can't recommend the deck space. The ship is full of people that sleep on the floor. I fyou want a quiet trip you should book a reserved seat or a cabin. Departure on time.
"Rough Start...Smooth Finish"
When I first arrived at the terminal, I was told I had to get a boarding pass, which was 2 km on the other side of the port. Once I got there, the line was roughly 200 people deep. I waited in line for 2+ hours to get my tickets. Very frustrating. Although the ship left an hour late, we arrived in Dubrovnik, HR on schedule. The room was OK. The seas were rough and we were up and down all night. On the return trip, we left on-time and arrived in Bari, IT ahead of schedule.
"departure on time"
all good but I was expecting more from Jadrolinia. Departure on time both ways, friendly staff, toilets old and dirty. Positive thing: I could sleep without problems at the bar
"positive experience"
we used the ferry from Croazia to Italy. Clean ship and excellent service on board. Departure on time. All good
"trip Bari-Dubrovnik"
air conditioning inside the cabin too strong. Check-in time too long
"on time"
on time and friendly staff. Cabins and toilets not very clean. The price is too high
"I loved it"
great experience! I loved it
"Seriousness, but need to improve"
Positive: Punctuality and professional welcome. Old ships (I like that). Breakfast that is not bad (especially since I did not expect that it was included in the price). disadvantages: 1) Bad state and bad maintenance of the facilities because of the old of the ship. I have pictures that prove the condition of the ship. 2) When you booked on internet, it is unclear that you have booked. So ,on the trip Bari- Dubrovnik, there was a wash basin in the cabin but in the return Split Ancona, not. 3) There is no night surveillance at all, so that allows that gangs of young people (who have been drinking on the deck, etc) will continue making noise in the cabins, when you have paid a lot of money for the crossing.
"Crossing from Bari to Dubrovnik"
After a week in Tuscany, we travelled by boat with our minibus to Croatia. Very recommendable. Booking the crossing didn't go too well. We only booked deckspace but were able to get cabins on arrival at the port. The crossing itself went well, it's a good and relaxing way to travel. In Croatia, we booked other crossings with Jadrolinja and we can say the same for those crossings too.
"good "
good service, just few shops…
"freezing cold"
The reserved seats area was freezing because of the air conditioning, impossible to sleep
"crossing dubrovnik-bari"
I travelled with Jadrolinika last 16/07 with bunk beds for the route Dubrovnik-Bari. In my opinion it's a good experience travel by ferry and all staff has been very frindly and the ship clean. Unfortunately, when I was in the cabin n.214 there was a lot of noise due to bad weather and the noise of the sea. Good breakfast included in the price. We travelled with 3 cars and we paid €338 return ticket, much more expensive compared to travel to Sardinia.
"TRIP BARI - DUBROVNIK"
It was all perfect an unforgettable travel. Tks.
"Check in at Bari"
Great trip with good facilities on board. Documentation required for checkin for the car was very obscure. The documents required for people and cars SHOULD BE VERY CLEAR TO MAKE SURE ALL DOCUMENTS ARE READY FOR CHECK IN. We booked online and the required documents should have been on the confirmation. We had travelled from the UK and had to get the car documents emailed to the office resulting in delays.
"Bari to Dubrovnik RT June"
Perfecto, We were much impressed by the professionalism of the crew and staff, cleanliness of rooms, and maintenance of the ship. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.
