The new Akebono Maru ferry has only been on the water since December 2017. This chic and modern vessel has the capacity to carry 546 passengers whilst reaching speeds of up to 20.2 knots. There is also room for 160 vehicles in the lower deck. Tastefully decorated throughout, this classy ship comes with a range of cabin accommodation, brand new restaurants, comfortable lounges and plenty of amenities to help both young and old voyagers enjoy their crossing.
A range of cabin accommodation is available on the ship to suit different needs and budgets. All rooms are kitted out with modern features and comfortable bedding options but travellers can select from First Class, Economy Class and “Special Rooms” when you book with Uwajima Unyu. Comfortable seating is situated throughout the public spaces on the ferry. There is a wide range of table seating, airline style chairs, recliners and luxury armchairs for everyone to use, many with great views of the wonderful sea views.
For an authentic Japanese culinary experience head to the Udon Corner on the second floor. If you want a quick snack on the go or just a light bite, Vending machines offer an alternative food option.
An on board shop is available for travellers to grab some travel necessities, souvenirs or even a treat for themselves.
A designated children’s area can be found on the second floor of this brand new ferry. Right next to it you’ll find the games corner, helping both the kids and adults pass the time whilst making their sea crossing.
Elevators, escalators and specially catered cabins are all present on board the Akebono Maru, meaning easy access to all the facilities for both elderly passengers and those with restricted mobility.
