Sea Spica Shimatabi Cruise

SEA SPICA is a high-speed sightseeing cruiser designed to take you on a memorable journey across the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. Operated as part of the Setouchi Shimatabi Cruise, it offers two distinctive routes connecting Hiroshima and Onomichi, each filled with scenic views and cultural highlights.

Departing from Hiroshima and traveling toward Onomichi on the Usagi Course, the cruise passes by the JMSDF Kure Naval Base, offering striking views of ships at port, before navigating the narrow Ondo-no-Seto Strait with its twin red bridges. Along the way, you can also admire Chigirishima, known as “Setouchi Gunkanjima” for its fortress-like silhouette. The highlight of this route is a stop at Okunoshima, famously called Rabbit Island, where you’ll have around 50 minutes to explore the island and enjoy the company of its friendly rabbits.

In the opposite direction, the Shimanami Course departs from Onomichi and heads toward Hiroshima, showcasing sweeping views of the renowned Shimanami Kaido bridges from the deck. This route includes a stop at Osaki-Shimojima Island, where you can stroll through the charming Edo-period streets of the Mitarai district, before continuing the cruise past the Ondo-no-Seto Strait and the JMSDF Kure Naval Base on the way back to Hiroshima.
