The Cyclades is formed by incredibly beautiful islands, and Schinoussa may just be the most stunning of them all. Made up of two small villages, Schinoussa boasts a breathtaking landscape, comprising of endless mountainside, desolate beaches and naturally green valleys. Even amidst the onrush of tourism, the island still appears unaffected by the constant visitors; the streets are clean and the terrain exudes an authentic vibe. The harbour is particularly idyllic – the windless air creates a natural haven for mooring small boats in stunning surroundings. Like many Greek islands, the beaches hold much of the limelight for visitors; golden sands define the shoreline and azure blue waters often prove too tempting underneath the rays of the scorching sunshine. Psili Ammos Beach and Livadi Beach are the most popular, lined with beach bars along the perimeter and shops slightly more inland for any last minute purchases. To explore the surrounding water, boat tours are available for a relaxing experience amid beautiful scenery.
The island is fairly compact so can be traversed on foot. For the tired and weary, taxis are also readily available.
