Safe Way Maritime
The Safe Way Maritime operated Galaxy Wave ferry sails the forty mile crossing between the port city of La Ceiba on mainland Honduras and Roatan Island.
Since its inception in the mid-nineties, Safe Way Maritime Transportation has offered a reliable method of getting to the Bay Island of Roatan and is currently the only company navigating the tropical waters to and from Roatan.
Passengers have the unique opportunity to relax on their journey and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding emerald seas, home to the world's second largest barrier reef system.
Safe Way Maritime has upgraded the ferries used on this crossing numerous times, each time with larger faster ships enabling more passengers to travel to the island, in less time. The Galaxy Wave is a 152 foot catamaran with a passenger capacity of around 460 passengers and takes just seventy minutes to make the crossing.
On board you’ll find 250 standard class seats, housed in a comfortable air-conditioned cabin on the lower deck. The first class passenger deck is on the Galaxy Wave's second floor and provides an excellent view with 60 seats available. Additionally, there are 150 open air seats available on the top deck of the ferry. Snacks and drinks are available at the terminals and on-board the ferry. If you don’t feel like sightseeing during the crossing there are TV's located in both class of cabin to keep you entertained.
