The Italian town of Terracina is a coastal resort located in the south of the Lazio region and lies between the cities of Naples and Rome. The town is home to an important port on the Roman Appian Way and is the site of a significant temple dedicated to Jupiter. The modern day town of Terracina sits at the base of some hills and along a wide sandy beach which is popular with tourists. Leading from the harbour to the bus station is a boat lined canal which passes the town's fish hall where crates are loaded with fresh fish. The older part of the town, Centro Storico, is where visitors should head towards if seeking a little more of the town's history and is where you will find the Piazza del Municipio which is a picturesque piazza that has paving stones from the Roman Forum, a crumbling archway, the town's cathedral, the offices of the town's council and an archaeological museum.
