About Perth ferry port

Perth (Barrack Street) ferry terminal is located on the riverfront in the heart of Perth in Western Australia. The port connects Perth with Rottnest Island, an island located around 33km from the centre of the city. Regular services are operated by Rottnest Express, with around 2 daily and 12 weekly sailings from Perth (Barrack Street).

Perth’s Barrack Street terminal is located in Perth city centre with all of the city’s amenities and transport links just a short stroll from the terminal. It’s located along the riverfront next to Elizabeth Quay.


How to get to Perth ferry port

Arriving by car

  • Once you've arrived at Perth CBD, the jetty is just a short drive away. Follow signs to Elizabeth Quay and continue until you reach Barrack Street Jetty which is located on the eastern end of the Quay.

Arriving by public transport

  • The Elizabeth Quay train station and Busport are both located around 400m from Barrack Street Jetty. Once you've arrived, exit onto The Esplanade, cross William Street and continue until you reach Barrack Street. Once you're there, turn read and head south towards the waterfront until you get to the port.
  • If you're travelling from the centre of Perth, you can get the free CAT bus directly to the jetty. The bus operates between Barrack Street Jetty and Northbridge.

Arriving by foot

  • You can walk from Perth city centre to Barrack Street Jetty in around 10 minutes.

Arriving at Perth port

Once you’ve arrived at Perth (Barrack Street) port, you’ll be in the centre of the city with all of Perth’s shops and restaurants just a short walk away. If you’re heading further afield, Elizabeth Quay railway station is located next to the port. The Barrack Street terminal is also located on the free Blue CAT bus line, operating between Barrack Street Jetty and Northbridge.

Amenities at the port include a café, picnic area, toilets, shop and restaurants. Due to the terminal’s central location, you’ll find plenty more amenities within walking distance of the port.

Parking

There are a limited number of short-term parking spaces near the port. For longer stays, the nearest car parks to the Barrack Street Jetty are Terrace Road, Concert Hall and the Convention Centre car parks.

Pets

Service dogs are permitted however, pets are not allowed on ferries between Perth and Rottnest Island.

From Perth, you can go on to explore some of western Australia’s best attractions. Rottnest island is a must-visit. Just an hour and a half by boat from Perth, the island boasts white-sand beaches, amazing wildlife, beautiful walking trails and incredible marine life. Swan Valley, Western Australia’s oldest wine region, is also located not far from the centre of Perth where you can embark on a guided tasting tour, whilst popular cities such as Fremantle with its relaxed bohemian vibe, are also within easy reach.
