"Shame it's over"
A delightful crossing, but this route has now ended. Shame.
"Sorry to see it go."
Poole to Santander August 30 2014. Smooth crossing, left and arrived on time, room adequate and very friendly staff will miss the service.Terry
"St Nazaire to Gijon and Gijon to Poole"
The St Nazaire to Gijon trip was fine and everything worked well for us. Very polite and helpful staff. Breakfast time could have been earlier for us. The Gijon to Poole trip was too long for us (24hrs) and the swell in the Bay of Biscay made it a rough journey which would have been more stable and comfortable in a larger boat. Sorry, but this wasn't a pleasant experience for us but we were just unlucky with the sea conditions which spoilt the trip.
"Santander and Poole with LD Lines"
Good service all round, even though delayed to Poole due to mechanical problems. However the crew handled the inconvenience with good professional expediency. There was no WIFI available, which really is a must these days. Consequently, personally, that was a negative for me. However the overall ambience of the voyage was in no way affected. Great meals, friendly helpful crew. Clean(spotless) cabins, together with very pleasant weather both ways.....you really can't ask for better! We have sailed with LD Lines a number of times and will gladly recommend them, although this was our first sail to and from Poole. We shall not use this particular route again as getting to and from the M4, especially in darkness, was an experience felt we could do without in future!
"Calm trip"
After driving for hours, we were able to relax and enjoy a good night’s rest on board. It’s like being in a hotel.
"Gijon to Pool"
Travelled from Portugal to Spain at the end of August to catch the ferry to pool in Dorset. The check in procedure was easy and uncomplicated. The cars go up quite a steep ramp to the top deck for parking it is advisable to wait for the car in front of you to leave the ramp before you start your ascent! Life on board for the 24 hours is a little bit boring but you can watch continuous films being played on a big screen TV and go to the restaurant bistro which serves decent food at less than airport prices and a full bottle of wine with your meal costing as little as 9 euros. There is also a bar for alcoholic beverages and they also sell fresh bean to cup coffee. The cabins are quite basic and small but clean and reasonably comfortable beds. The staff are very friendly and helpful and overall it was a good experience during the travel and certainly better than driving for another 18 hours across France and into England. When I worked out the price of what it would've cost me to drive all the way with food stops and also overnight stay in an hotel and then the price of the channel tunnel crossing it roughly worked out about £50 cheaper and was certainly less stressful. I would definitely travel with them again!
"Crossing Spain - England, recommendable"
Good meals. Very relaxed atmosphere. A perfect way to relax and unwind comfortably while you enjoy your trip, and enjoy the nature (dolphins). A great way to meet and talk to other passengers, including the English and Spanish.
"Cruising the Bay of Biscay"
As always a journey that is almost a cruise, good service and unforgettable experience
"Survey"
I think it's wrong that in a ship that travel between Spain and England the messages are not translated into Spanish and almost nobody speaks spanish. We ask for a pillow, since we realized in the evening that was missing in one of the berths, a person from staff who was supplying sheets answered: "Now?". We told him, he could do it as soon as he can, we told him our number cabin but he did not bring us the pillow never. One of us had to sleep with towels rolled up as a pillow. Otherwise the cabin well, punctuality good, and proper ship facilities.
"Extremely satisfied with LD Lines"
We travelled by boat to Portugal, from Saint Nazaire in south East Brittany to Gyon in northern Spain. For the first time, we did not go by plane but decides to take our car with us to Portugal. The entire journey by car to Portugal was relaxed. This was because of this boat trip. We divided the trip and drove for a few hours then took the boat and rested for some time, a very pleasant way to travel, especially when you can spend the night on board. We arrived totally relaxed and well-rested. The stay on board was very pleasant. Hight recommendable!
"LD Lines"
I enjoy ferries, but sadly what was advertised was not exactly what was available. As a child travelling to Ireland the ships would have a cinema, duty-free shop and lots of other facilities. On LD Lines to Gijon, the DVD room was a TV and DVD player in the corner of the lounge bar. The child area was a three-foot wide section of the bar with pens, paper and some sponge lego-shaped mats underneath a small table. The food was OVER priced - bring your own. Bar staff were often worked 24 hours whilst others seemed to be standing around whilst bins etc. needed to be emptied on the decks. The cleanliness was superb (obviously down to the army of cleaners who board the boat when it docks). The room was sufficient - simple, but clean and comfortable (bit like a budget hotel). For 25 hours, activities were very quickly exhausted - sit on deck, sit in the lounge bar (reading), eat, walk on deck, read some more,,,,,, etc. I love travelling by sea, but my fellow travelers were bored very quickly and vowed, "Never again!"
"travel by ferry an alternative"
The cabins on this ferry are larger than others we have traveled before. Normal cleaning, overall good service, and well treated.
"Pleasant and quick trip"
This ferry with the car was reasonably priced and quick. The staff were extremely polite and helpful to my husband whio is disabled. We were travelling from Portugal so it is very convenient. I shall pass the information round in Porttugal because I know many of my friends will be keen to know about it. It I not well advertised in Portiugal and if it was many people would use it. It is a much smaller ship that the other ships which ferry in the area and therefore does not have so many facilities but quite adequate for 24 hr trip.
"Very good service"
Very pleased with our trip from Poole to Santander. Cabins clean and comfy, food reasonable and well priced and all crew/staff extremely pleasant and helpful. GREAT
"All correct"
very nice travel, very kind crew , i recommend it
"travel from gijon to saint nazaire"
Excellent travel and good customer service.we have to tell that the crew was very polite and willing to help.We had a problem and they helped us.thank you
"Trip to Spain"
We enjoyed our crossing to Gijon. The accommodation on board is great and the crew is very friendly and helpful. In short, it’s worth repeating.
"Poole - Santander 26/7/2014"
Very efficient booking through Direct Ferries. On the day the ship was loaded quickly and left on time.Cabin was very clean and pleased to have en-suite.Very glad we booked a cabin with window/daylight! Facilities on board ship very, very basic and given the length of the journey it seems wierd to make everyone eat (one school dinner hall style restaurant)at the same time.It was open for two hours for dinner, two hours for breakfast and two hours for lunch!Only other option is a small coffee bar which was constantly mobbed.Food acceptable but uninspiring.Shop on board ship is of no use at all-usually shut and the size of a garden shed with stock to match. We had sunny calm weather for the 26 hour journey but sadly seating on deck was at a premium and most people were obliged to sit on the floor so it looked like a refugee ship.Sighting of dolphins(lots) and a solitary whale were real high spots and the opportunity to sit(on the floor)in sunshine gazing at the wide blue yonder gave a very relaxed start to holiday. Not sure I would feel the same if the weather had prevented us from being outdoors! On balance it was worth the price saving over Brittany Ferries and we would use it again if someone could promise good weather!!! Next time I will arrange my own catering in advance and not rely on the ship's facilities.
"Enjoyable!"
A great wat to travel from Spain to the UK. Good beds, adequate facilities on board including a shop, restaurant and a bar. You arrive relaxed and well rested. Better than driving on crowded freeways and in traffic jams!
"Journey to Santander"
Room clean beds comfortable in general happy with service and accommodation.
"(Almost) everything perfect"
Everything perfect except for a hygiene problem in the en-suite bathroom of the private cabin: The WC was not clean, however, upon reporting to staff, the situation was immediately resolved.
"Normal rating"
Overall the trip was good, nothing out of the ordinary and I did not have any issue which I may complain, but it can always be improve and more when it comes to value for money. In my opinion, I think the ticket cost is high for the quality of service they offer, I mean facilities, quality catering,
"Great - again"
The ship is great, the staff are lovely especially Maria Pereira, what a refined lady she is, an asset to her employer. Crossing was good, which helps.
"Travel experience LD Lines Poole to Gijon ferry"
The trip was easy to book through directferries.co.uk and was almost half the price of some the rival companies running ferries to Santander. The trip was excellent. Staff of lD lines were very friendly and helpful. The cabins were extremely clean and air conditioned. The Norman Asturias is not a large ferry but contains all the required comforts. A good bar, an area for viewing films, a bistro, a small children's play area and a small shop. Bistro food was fine and not too expensive. My only criticism would be that the credit card machine did not work on the journey back. All in all though a very comfotable and enjoyable trip, great atmosphere on the ship (not as crowded as larger boats)and comes highly recommended, especially at the price.
"Ferry to Spain"
Excellent ferry cheaper than their rivals only grip I have was the return timing getting into Poole at midnight.
"an amazing journey from Dijon to Poole"
We arrived early and boarding the vessel went smoothly as did disembarking. Lovely to have the cars up on deck and be able to return to them if we wanted. The passage was smooth and the ferry so stable even in the Bay of Biscay! Our favourite was the sundeck where we enjoyed cold drinks. The crew were friendly, professional and helpful. The ferry was small (saw why when we entered Poole harbour!)and simple - no fuss restaurants, shops etc but cabin was clean and very comfortable. The self service restaurant was very good and food costs extremely reasonable. In all it was a perfect way to end the holiday rather than drive from the Pyrenees to Calais! I would recommend the experience to anyone! thank you LD Lines!
"Poole to Santander :-)"
Hi everyone A great trip by LD lines, good service on board, pleasant staff ;-)comfortable sleeping accommodation and a nice steady smooth trip overall so yeah get yourself booked on any LD Lines sailings for a satisfactory cheap but well worth it crossing. Cheers Alan Spain
"Spanish holiday"
Great start to our trip to Northern Spain. Easy check in at Poole and although the facilities on board are very basic everything you need is on hand. Brilliant value for money would definitely use again and recommend to others.
"Gijon to Poole on the Norman Asturias"
Traveled in July 2014. Loading at Gijon was pretty chaotic and made the ferry one and a half hours late in departing. Our passports and documents were checked 3 times at Gijon. Once at the reception booth, once by the Spanish Civil Guard and a third time by an LD employee. Once aboard the ferry it was very clean. Cabins were comfortable and staff were polite and obliging. The food in the restaurant was of excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Cheap even! The beer was good. If I had to look for a criticism or minor niggle it would be that the on board shop is very small and not well stocked with reading material. All in all a very pleasant journey and experience.
"A very pleasant journey"
Both crossings were pleasant, but the quality of the restaurant is really average.
"ST NAZAIRE - GIJON "
The first time for us to travel between St Nazaire and Gijon a very nice experience. I recommend this ship.
"Travel from Santandar to Poole"
Good crossing and good service.
"Travelling by ship from Saint Nazaire to Gijon"
Our first experience, but a hit. I look forward to travelling again but unfortunately the crossings are limited. Why would we still want to drive for many kilometres by car and caravan when we can opt for this secure relaxing crossing? I recommend this to everyone. The journey on the ship offers all the necessary comforts and you arrive at the destination before you know it. Yes, do it!
"Start of holiday"
What can I say, fantastic helpful staff, well organised entry and exit, reasonable ish priced tasty food, drink expensive, great crossing, shoals of dolphins made it special. We loved the whole experience and it got our holiday off to a great start. If things are not right I will complain !!!!! No complaints this time Thanks Dave
"Everything fine."
Everything fine no problems. Food Good .Cabins fine comfy bed.
"LD lines"
On the whole this was a very comfortable and good value trip .... I enjoyed the crossing and the staff were friendly and pleasant and the facilities were both clean and what was needed...It comes recommended! However I would like to prepare passengers for a couple of things that tripped us up a bit... The crossing is usually from Gijon but our trip was from Santander which we didn't pick up on until we were at the port....entirely our fault and luckily we had plenty of time to drive up the coast but do double check. The other factor, that if you are on the budget that you need to know is that there is no drinking water provided on the boat and the bottled water for sale is quite expensive so make sure you stock up and take water with you the same goes for food but you would expect that AND you could not eat for 24hrs but not drinking is not really an option!
"Gijon to Poole"
This ferry was cheaper than others going from Spain to UK and this was reflected in the on-board services and over-all comfort. There is only a self-service cafeteria, and the chairs in the lounges etc. are not comfortable. The cabin was fine. I prefer to pay more and have better services and comfort. The ship appeared to be old. I shall probably not use this line again.
"Small and straightforward, plus relatively inexpensive"
We did a return trip on this ferry in May & June 2014 from Poole to Gijon return. A very friendly and helpful crew and a small no nonsense approach (no discos or cinemas) made this a quiet and enjoyable trip at less expense than on other competing routes to northern Spain. Our cabin was fine and reasonably big and while parking on the top deck and reversing into place seemed a bit odd at first it worked ok. Food and drink was reasonably priced and while the menu was nothing special it was entirely adequate. We hired 2 dvds and a small player for euro 6; an indication that LD Lines is sensible in their pricing structures. If the weather is good get onto the rear deck and bask in the sun and look out for dolphins / porpoises !!
"nice experience"
I will repeat undoubtedly, I was lucky because it did good weather and even we enjoy the Sun in the exterior terrace. The cabin are very nice (all with interior toilet). very good treatment of the crew. In general we are very satisfied with the experience and we recommend it without doubt.
"5th crossing from St Nazaire to Gijon fro Braga Portugal"
We are becoming regulars. I am weirdly sick on the Norman Atlantic, but not on the Norman Asturias. Apart from that, the quality of the service is the same. The cabins are clean and we sleep well. The staff is friendly. The food is correct. The negative points are the boarding and the disembarkment, which take a very long time compared to the ones for crossings between Calais and Dover. We're asked to get ready for disembarkment too soon and have to wait for 1/2h to 1h hour in the waiting room before getting to our cars. In such a small space, it's very unconfortable, especially with young children. Moreover, the boarding place is badly signposted in Gijon.
"Easy Sailing"
We have traveled on many ferries from Spain to Italy, Tunisia, Sicily. and Malta. This was by far the best. Food was fresh and very reasonable priced with a bottle of wine at €8.50. Staff were helpful.Cabins were adequate and clean. The ship was not full, so you didn't feel like you were in a cattle market. we arrived 2 hours early which was a bonus. Not very well equipped if you are disabled as there is no lift to the cabins and only 1 disabled cabin. Nice to arrive in Spain refreshed.
"Poole to Santander June 2014"
This is a good service! You get what you pay for in terms of facilities so compare costs before criticising live so many I have read. The crew could not be more helpful, the cabins are clean and comfortable, the food is basic but plenty of it and not too expensive. This is a no frills service at a cost effective price and I hope that it continues that way. We'll done LD Lines!
"Good service, all a bit basic"
on time , a very clean , big and peaceful cabin, it was miss only wi fi
"Gijon to Poole ferry"
Friendly and helpful staff good food on and off ferry quickly not a great deal to do on board take a book.
"Pleasant Journey"
Apart from no directions at Gijon port of how to access check in everything went well. Have not crossed on any other routes to compare this with but facilities on this ferry were adequate and staff helpful and pleasant.
"New Route to Northern Spain "
We recently travelled with LD lines and found that the cabin size was good compared with other similar ferries and the beds were just that bit wider and very comfortable. The staff were so helpful, cheerful and really put themselves out for you. Although there is no a la carte restaurant the food was absolutely as good as you would expect and they made efforts to produce something vegetarian if there was nothing suitable. Some cars are transported on deck and as we have a convertible classic car we just said we wanted to be under cover and there was no quibble at all. A god start LD lines. We have already recommend to others planning a trip to Portugal, Spain further West or even down to the central and South areas. Look at your google maps to see where Gijon is located.
"Excellent Trip"
We set sail from Poole and then Santander after effortless boarding procedures both ways and found lovely comfortable cabins waiting both times. The food was outstanding, 12 euro of a 2 course meal (which was plentiful) or you could choose a sandwich etc. The chaps behind the bar were so efficient and helpful, they where happy to chat when they weren't to busy. Drinks where very reasonable-3 euro for a pint of lager and 8 euro for a bottle of decent wine and 1.50 euro for a cup of tea or bottle of water. Some people were saying they where bored as there wasn't enough to entertain them however there are back to back current films showing in the lounge and you can hire 2 DVD's for 6 euro or sit on the sun deck if the weather is nice. The shop is tiny but has the essentials needed for the trip and there is a chocolate dispenser in the lobby with everything for 1 euro. All of our group found the trip excellent value for money with lovely, happy and efficient staff to help the journey along. I would certainly travel with LD lines again.
"Gijon-poole and return"
Cabin felt slightly bigger than competitors, very clean and all you needed for one night. All areas of the ship were clean and tidy. The members of the crew that I spoke to were very polite and courteous. The prices in the bar were competitive although food prices seemed a bit on the high side (you are a captive market not a lot of competition in the Bay of Biscay!!!!!) I will certainly use this service again, THANK-YOU One small negative in the booking papers two different postcodes were supplied neither were recognized by any Sat Nav systems and it is very difficult to read the directions and drive at the same time!!!!!!!!!
"Less tiring, cheaper"
The Saint-Nazaire to Gijon return crossing is a great alternative to travelling by car. It spares a lot of tiredness, an hotel night and the French tolls (which are expensive). A cabin is a plus if you want to be confortable or if you tend to be seasick. Being sitted or better laying down prevent the symptoms for appearing, don't forget to eat either.
"Good enjoyable journey"
This ship although not of the luxury standards of Brittany provides excellent competition for them as it is in general much cheaper. The food on board was excellent although the service at the bar was a little slow. Will certainly use them again
"Poole -Santander returning via Gijon"
Just returned from a solo motorcycle trip of the Pyrenees and to save mileage decided to use the Ferry to get me into the area. LD Lines was the most economic price I could find so wasnt expecting much on the ship. Check in at Poole was superb, well organised and a lot more relaxed than the big ports. The Ferry itself is basic compared to say Brittany Ferries but is very clean throughout and the staff where fantastic. I had a cabin both ways which was not shared, it has 2 x single beds plus 2 x fold down bunks and a toilet/shower which was very clean. There was even soap and shower gel in dispensers from Cussons.A small table with chair and power point was a nice touch. Self service cafeteria was good and fairly reasonable, a bar which also sold Pizza and sandwiches was very poular. There are 2 sundecks available with sunbeds and picnic tables which i used as the crossing was calm and weather good. There are films running but not much else for children however the general relaxed atmosphere onboard was wonderful and I will definately be using them again
"Great trip aboard Norman Asturias!!"
We recently travelled aboard Norman Asturias, and it was great experience over all. The staff was very help full and friendly. One change the management may wan to consider is to increasing 'Vegetarian' food option in the main food menu. Over all an excellent experience, we will recommend this service to friends and families.
"Surprise"
LD does not have the Roll On-Roll Off system so we had to reverse onto the ferry with a caravan, which isn't easy with those metal plates. I was supposed to depart on Wednesday, but receievd a message the Monday before saying the ferry would not leave until Friday (mid May), so I had to amend my holiday. (booked in March)
"Gijon to Poole - 23/24 May 2014"
Although the crossing was very rough (my wife spent most of the voyage flat out in the cabin) the facilities on board were very good. The checking in and loading/unloading is a smooth operation. Reception on board, friendly and efficient. The self-service restaurant was more than adequate with a well varied menu. The cabin was very clean as was the boat generally.
"Poole to Gijon trip "
Good value for money as cheaper than other ferry trips to Spain . Cabins clean and comfortable. Boarding process easy and departure from port to find route out of town very well signposted . Although large TV with films showing , limited activities on board. Food very good . Staff helpful and attentive . This is purely a personal comment , one of the main reasons for booking ( apart from good price ) was the excellent sailing and arrival times of noon to noon , as I had a very important job to do in Eastern Spain this was excellent, unfortunately this was changed to 6pm boarding and 8 pm offloading which then put a lot of pressure on me get to my destination in time , this was then a very stressful long drive .
"trip santander to poole"
Our trip from Santander to Poole on 25th May went very well. The ship was very comfortable re:cabin etc.and the crew onboard were most helpful. Also we were pleased with the price as we have normally travelled with another company which as you must know is more expensive. Our only drawback is the return trip which arrives Santander late at night which would mean a nightime drive but we will consider that nearer the time. Many thanks Ian & Marilyn Gibbons.
"A pleasant crossing"
The crossing went smoothly. We chose an inside cabin. The bedding was nice, the cabin was clean, we had a good night sleep… in spite of the rough sea during the outbound journey. The staff is pleasant and helpful, it's a good way to start the holidays… Make this experience.... PS: make sure to bring your ID, otherwise you'll have to go to the police station.... It takes 30 minutes, so it's better to plan in advance.
"that's another way"
The journey was fine. Ferry left on time. The weather was good. The restaurant and cabin were also in order.
"Good value crossing"
A small older generation ferry with cars loaded on the deck (in the open) which may put some people off. Good value and punctual with a decent cabin & en suite. A friendly and efficient Portuguese crew. Drinks and food reasonably priced, albeit the food offering was a bit unimaginative. Not a huge amount to do during the crossing and the outside deck area was very restricted space-wise. Take your own entertainment, basically !!
"Gijon -Poole LD Lines"
Smaller ferry than we have used before and more basic but had everything we needed. After all we just wanted to get back to the UK. Nice small port (although we had trouble finding it, not enough signs in the town ). Good trip and quicker to get on and off. Good price too, much cheaper than the bigger ferries.
"LD Pool to Santander."
Good clean cabin, crossing very goog, but take a bag full of food & drink. 2 pints of bitter & 2 pasties 15.50 Euros.
"A crossing between ST NAZAIRE and GIRON"
We travelled as a family and it was great. The cabins were well equiped and we slept very well.
"Great service"
Thanks for a great service, I hope to be using this again. Small criticism though, needs clearer signage on Spanish side when coming back.
"Great trip"
I have just returned home to Spain, I traveled with my wife and car on LD Lines. It was a good experience and I found the ferry and accommodation excellent for the price. The crew were very friendly and organization was really efficient. We arrived before time so what else would you want. I can recommend with all honesty this ferry company.
"Good choice"
I find the schedule and the port a good way to come to Spain and thinking to go back in the same way and price.
"wonderful Travel"
My wife and I had a splendid time aboard the Direct Ferries ship, the crossing over to UK was so smooth ,the coming back was not so good. However making the trip super was the wonderful staff who could not do enough for you. We thought the food served in the restaurant was really good along with the wonderful choices of wines. The cabins aboard were nice, but as I have stated the staff made the travel to UK and back to Spain a memorable time "thank you Staff"
"Quick and Efficient trip"
It was nice experience with this new line It was quick and efficient management. We will try again.
"Norman asturias"
I found the ferries operation very well run, the staff were very pleasant and worked hard to keep things running as planned. the ship was clean and comfortable. The only thing that spoiled it for me was that the cabins were too hot with no way to control the temperature which made staying in the cabin uncomfortable. All in all it was a good crossing and well done to the crew.
"LDLines Ferry Crossing to Spain"
The staff were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The food in the self service restaurant was ok, not the best and was a little bit overpriced. The wine from the bar and from the shop on board was reasonably priced, but the wine in the restaurant was overpriced. There is no entertainment, but a book, a pack of cards and the fabulous views of the sun on the sea makes no need for entertainment. The price of the crossing was very good. Boarding was quick and highly organised, as was disembarking. Will definitely use this again.

"Mill Pond"
Perfect - great cabin, wonderful staff esp. Maria in the shop and information office, what a charming lady. Saw dolphins, felt very safe.
"Cheap but boring !"
Here is my review/experience of my recent trip with LD Lines travelling the Santander - Poole route : The weather was favourable so not much rocking around but the whole trip was very boring, there is nothing to do on board unless you improvise or have a schedule planed. Food is very very expensive so prepare for that, there is also only one vending machine, this only sells chocolates and crisps but. The reclining seats are a joke, do like me and set yourself on the floor, if you are a fussy sleeper get a cabin. Best thing about the experience were the staff, they are wonderfully helpful, polite and professional. Toilets are adequate and you can have a shower if you want to. Bare in mind you should prepare a bag to take inside the boat with you, as once the boat is off you might not be allowed to go outside again till you arrive at the destination. Overall it is what it is, a cheap way to get across so don´t expect a 5 start trip. I would still recommend it and do it again myself if I needed to.
"Willie casa"
Ferry crossing good, everything was on time staff was good room very clean but no TV in room on the deck nothing to do but to speak to people passing time.
"basic good value"
This line has none of the unnecessary frills of the others - no casino, no entertainment, although a nice small cinema, no sofas or carpets. But with a comfortable cabin you don't need all that. The cabins good and bedding very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Very good value for money. Only criticism is the food. Breakfast ok but the quality of the rest could be improved. Chips and wine very good. And being smaller made the crossing quite intimate, close to the sea. And one meets more people.
"Poole - Santander ferry"
Would travel again with LD Lines as price good. LD lines could do with improving facilities but that would be in the future.
"Happy"
The cabin was adequate for this trip, the bunks were large and comfortable. The whole trip passed smoothly. would definitely use this service again. Not only dose it cut out France it completely cuts out the French!
"a cruise"
We feel welcome from the very start. We appreciated to be notified early that our inbound journey would be cancelled because of the weather conditions. This way, we were able to modify our itinerary accordingly. The inbound journey by the road was a lot more tiring. It was the second time, we travelled to Spain this way and we would do it again.
"High winds!!"
We were recently travelling from Poole to Gijon in severe weather conditions, during which we were given three free meals because the journey took so long and we arrived safely!
"What a crossing"
Arrived Santander on Sun 26/01/14 for a 26hr crossing, unfortunately the weather had other ideas, 8m waves and a 24 hour stopover in St Navare en-route we arrived in Poole 3 1/2 days later. However not expecting anything other than sea sickness, LD Lines graciously gave us 3 meals a day free of charge and refunded the full 360 euro fare. The crew were wonderful and most helpful Thank you LD Lines, I am now a lifetime customer. John O'Brien
"December 2013"
This is a long trip with not much to do on board. There is food available on board but you might want to take your own snacks and soft drinks. Sleeping in the VIP seats is OK but I felt cold, so you might need to cover yourself. Everywhere is clean and journey easy but boring.
"Couldn't cross "
Due to the bad weather, the ferry was cancelled and we had to cross the Eurotunnel and do more that 2000km by car. The staff from DL Lines told us they would refund the cost of the trip but we are still waiting.
"Crossing to spain"
Fantastic crossing, good food and facilities at reasonable prices, only down side was parked on deck, motorhome was covered in salt, no way of cleaning, shame it couldn't be hosed down.
"Excellent Crossing aided by calm seas"
First time with LD. Everything was as wished for. Clean, friendly crew and sensibly priced food and drinks. Will be sailing with LD again.
"Poole to Santandair return crossing"
The experience of sailing from Poole was excellent - organised and efficient. My return from santandair was not so good - a 6 hour delay, and I got at the port 2 hours early, so a full 8 hours waiting to board. In fairness I suppose these things happen - I think it was bad weather but nobody bothered to tell me. I got 2 free meals as compensation. the boat is what it is - nothing fancy but cheaper than the rest
"Great experience!"
We had a great time, the staff was just wonderful and the ship was nice and clean.
"First trip with LD Lines"
This was my first trip with LD Lines and it was a good experience. This was the sort of travel experience I like, no fuss, no unnecessary frills, friendly and helpful staff. The facilities on board were excellent, nice restaurant and food, the cabin was included in the price at no extra cost - excellent, there were comfortable seating areas and free film shows, a real bonus. The biggest surprise was the cost of the trip, it was substantially lower than the competition and they even arranged a smooth crossing and sunshine for arrival in port! Congratulations to LD Lines for a great service.
"Ferry crossing"
The ferry crossing was excellent. Cabin was clean & tidy. Food was Ok, but expensive. Loading in Santander was very slow for some reason. There was nowhere for motorbikes under cover and it was raining so I had to sit in the rain for hours. Unloading in UK was very speedy. Overall experience was very good.
"General"
Good trip, excellent price, weather kind, food was good but not cheap, beer a ridiculous price. A few lessons to be learnt on loading and unloading otherwise all good.
"a slight setback"
It's a pity that a strike in st nazaire caused a 12 hour delay at departure. Everything went smoothly apart from that.
"Very good service "
We've taken eight times the crossing by Normann Asturias, from St. Nazaiere to Gijon and back, to complete and are always been very satisfied.
"I'll go back again"
This sea highway is very good solution. The journey is pleasant: the boat is stable, the staff is friendly and available, the cabins are clean and confortable, the communal areas are well agenced and clean too. I arrived at my destination refreshed. I probably polluted less as well. I am happy with my choice and I will do it again. My only regret is that there was not a gust of wind in the Bay of Biscay.
"Map "
All good. I only missed a map of St.Nazaire's city centre. It was thanks to the fact that a waiter drew me one.
"Moving crossing "
The chairs I would not recommend people who are bigger than 1.60 m - In the dining room it was more convenient -
"A nice crossing aboard the Norman Asturias"
I've been travelling between Portugal and Brittany with different modes of transport for 25 years. This time, after some of my friends recommended it, I tried the ferry between Saint Nazaire and Gíjon. It works very well: it's inexpensive, restful, green and beautiful. The sunset over the sea is a real show. The staff is welcoming and attentive! The cabins are clean and confortable! A mini cruise to start the holidays: perfect. I'll be a customer again!
"Don't hesitate"
The ferry between Gijón and Saint-Nazaire is very pleasant. I recommend it. If the weather is good, I recommend to sleep on the deck! It's amazing!
"Good Trip"
Thank you so much for your service, we enjoyed our voyage from gijon to st nazaire, very simple and basic but good value for money, staff were very attentive and professional, will travel with you again. Please continue with your service.
"Lack of punctuality"
You should indicate the GPS coordinate of the boarding points. The disembarkment in St Nazaire was too slow (1h30)
"A pleasant journey"
Indicate the roads to go to the ports as soon as the booking is confirmed. It will facilitate acess to the boat.
"Not great at all!"
The seats are absolutely not adapted for a 16 hour crossing. They're not confortable, there's no space for the legs. It was cold. Bring your sleeping bag and your pillow. The lights are too bright to sleep. The staff is not welcoming. Not a good value for money.
"A very pleasant crossing"
Our crossing was very pleasant, the staff was nice and competent. We were blessed with a good weather and a calm sea. One issue: we drove around for a long time in St Nazaire before finding the ferry terminal.
"A nice ferry crossing"
We enjoyed the crossing aboard the ferry. The staff was pleasant and attentive.
"A mini cruise"
I was very satisfied with the reception on board. The cabins were confortable. The food was good. The staff was attentive. It was my first ferry crossing to Spain, but probably not my last. Only one setback: the self restaurant closes a bit early.
"Good experience. Very recommendable! "
It was a good experience for all my family. Excellent service and good quality for your money. The trip is pleasant and it is recommendable to do it during the summer. They followed the schedule rigorously both for the embark and the disembark. We would like if there were more ferry points throughout Europe. Thanks!
"The sea highway"
The sea highway is the ideal solution. The ferry looks a bit old, but it's decent.
"Great trip "
We travelled by ferry in August 2013. We bought a return ticket and everything went really well. Good facilities and good weather. On the way back, we left by night so we slept in the cabin until 9am. We had a nice breakfast for €4.90 and spent the rest of the afternoon in the deck.We will take it next time we go to France because you avoid loads of kilometres and you enjoy a trip in boat.
"Good!! Will do gain"
Really good, it was very good. It's a shame that there are not ferries closer to portugal.
"Pleasant"
The staff on board was very good (cheerful, professional, welcoming, nice)
"Good trip "
Nice people, journey without problems and interesting prices. I will never do the trip from Asturisa to Bretaña by car again while this ferry route still exits.
"a good compromise"
It was a good experience for a price equivalent to driving, but without the fatigue and the risks. It was a bit like a short cruise. I'll probably see you next year.
"Gijon/Saint Nazaire crossing"
A very practical crossing to go to France or to Northern Spain. It's a bit pricey, but the company is serious and professional. The boat was clean, although the cabins looked a bit dated.
"Return trip to Portugal - August 2013"
A nice formula: less miles, less fatigue. You can either bring your own meal or buy something to eat (the buffets are affordable). We recommend to book a cabin for the night or to sleep on the benches in the lounge (bring a duvet and a pillow), because the seats are not very confortable. The staff is nice and available. Its good value for money. I would recommend it and we'll use it again without hesitating.
"St Nazaire - Gijon"
No particular issue - a pleasant crossing
"Good but not great "
There is nowhere to can go to get some air. Bedrooms are not very clean and the bathrooms smell. The quality of food is not great either. We will come back but expecting certain things.
"No stress"
It was a relaxing way to come back from Portugal. We arrived refreshed in ST NAZAIRE.
"Comment"
The staff is really nice and attentive to the passagers (even the 4 legs kind). The cabins are well isolated. However, the cabins are not clean at all. The sheets are clean, but that's about it. For that price, it's a shame…
"Crossing Gijon St Nazaire"
Everything was organised very well, we're very pleased with the crossing. Departed on time and arrived according to schedule. Staff was friendly and helpful. One minor remark is the time required to board.
"Assessment "
Very good in general. I find absurd that if you are taking two vehicles that you have to do two different bookings for the accommodation. In our case, we took two motorcycles and had to travel in two cabins of 4 people each. There was no way of sorting it out with the customer service.
"Our first crossing"
A very pleasant crossing. The staff was very nice and professional, the restaurant offered good quality food. However, it is necessary to take something against sea sickness. Then the journey among the dolphins and the whales would be nice.
"Cool and nice"
A nice crossing, a peaceful sea, the Spanish staff is nice, discrete, cheerful and pleasant. The cabin was spacious. The loading of the cars is faultless, apart for the delay at departure with the last trucks. The sun greeted us at our arrival in Gijon. It's an excellent option to go to Spain without getting exhausted. We'll do it again someday.
"Gijon-St Nazaire "
I think it is one of the best ways of visiting France. The children enjoyed the cabin, the views and even made friends. The facilities are good and even though some of them are a bit old, they were much better than we thought. We recommended it to our relatives and we also want to do it through this website. We also suggest you do the reservation in advance in order to guarantee a good price.
"Outbound 22/7, inbound 8/8/13"
practical, restful, clean cabin, confortable beds for a 4 pple family, very nice staff, I recommend and I would use again.
"St Nazaire Gijon crossing"
a very good solution to connect Brittany and Portugal. Less tiring and still affordable. It feels like holidays as soon as you board….so peaceful!
"crossing"
Nothing to report. We recommend to book cabins however, as it's difficult to sleep in a seat. It's not a cruise boat. A very good value. I would not hesitate to take this boat again. A very pleasant staff….
"Gijon to Saint Nazaire crossing - August 2013"
A very good journey. The reception is good. The staff is friendly. The cabins are confortable and the catering is correct. The schedule is strictly respected. A good solution to go from Spain to France.
"A very good memory"
A very nice crew who listens to the passengers (and to their questions); the price of the self is ok, the crossing is quiet, the timekeeping is good, the waiting time before boarding is a bit long. A very good memory of those crossings and an experience to renew.
"Sea mtorway "
I had the oportunity of doing the Gijon-Sant Nazaire journey recently and here is my review. The staff was perfect but embark and disembark times should be reduced. It is very slow. They should also create more adequate facilities such as cafés, toilets and shades in Gijon and Sant Nazaire. The experience in general was good.
"Wonderful boat trip"
Being able to travel part of the journey to Spain by ship was ideal for us. The journey was exceptionally pleasant. The cabin was well equipped with sheets, blankets, shower and toilet. We slept wonderfully. The region of Spain, the Asturia, where the ship arrives is a magnificent holiday destination with gorgeous beaches and grandiose mountains. Vegetarian meals are not available on board. The queues at the restaurant are long. Tip: bring your own food for dinner and breakfast.
"Holidays in Asturia and Galicia"
An ideal formula for us, less driving time, time saved by traveling by night. An easy formula to access the different ports/ferry (except Gijon) People are free to bring their food or to buy their meals on board. The staff is nice and available. The cabins are confortable (the cleanliness of the bathroom and of the floor could be improved) A good value
"A nice trip, but…"
A nice crossing, despite a lack of cleanliness. The kindness and the helpfulness of the staff make up a bit for the general impression. However, this will probably be our 1st and last journey on this line.
"Our first 'cruise': a total success"
A generally pleasant journey: -a clean and practical cabin -a pleasant staff -the quality of the food was terrible for meals and average for breakfast. There was a long wait (only one till) -free access to all the rooms -some unpleasant odours in some corridors It's a pity that there isn't a front deck on the outside
"Very good!"
Very practical, a good service and an interesting price! A few things to improve: You cannot choose your room on the boat. Some have a view, some don't and the experience is different! A better access to the footbridges (half of them weren't accessible)
"Back from Portugal"
A very good trip. Confortable cabins, clean bedding, nice and helpful staff (especially at the restaurant)… The only sideback is the waiting time before boarding. Is it really necesseraly for car drivers to come two hours early, when they start the boarding process with the numerous trucks. A good trip overall
"St Nazaire Gijon Saint Nazaire"
A very pleasant crossing. The bay of Biscay was nice. 1000 km less tiring and a little cruise.
"A good memory"
Taking my car on a boat and sleeping on a big boat was a dream come true. Not driving hundreds of miles on boring roads was another. I can't wait to do it again. The cabin for two was with a porthole looking at the sea was more confortable than what I was expecting. The bar and the restaurant were lively. Holidaymakers were playing cards. Families were having diner. The crew was very nice. I was speaking Spanish and they were answering in either French or Portuguese and we could understand each other perfectly. If I had to do the return journey again, I would choose a later crossing as I had to wake up a 4.30am for an arrival at 6 am in Saint Nazaire. A bit inhumane for me!
"Cool "
The first experience with the ferry was fantastic. We reserved a cabin and I have to say that I am really glad. We managed to sleep and it went by really quickly. The ship barely moves. Just in case we took a sea sickness tablet and we never felt any sickness. One objection is that the main restaurant closes very early and there is barely any eating options in the bar. The embark was a bit slow but the disembark was quite quick. It leaves you 50 km from Nantes and the entire France ahead of you to enjoy.
"St Nazaire - Gijon"
A godd value for money for this crossing
"Impressions"
Perfect. It was clean and ponctual. The reception was warm. I would recommend it to go to the pensinsula. A comment: there is a clientele for a St Nazaire Gijon Lisbonne Gibraltar Alicante Barcelone Marseille line (the tour of the peninsula)
"Holidays 2013 ferry"
Hola. We enjoyed the crossing from st Nazaire to Gijòn. Everything was perfect: the boarding, the staff is nice and available. The crossing lasts for 15 hours, but times goes fast. We didn't book a cabin, but the benches in the lounges were very confortable.
"Good alternative France to Spain (North)."
This route is a perfect alternative for travellers wanting to travel to the North/West of Spain. You save a lot of time and arrive in Gijón well rested. It looks like lorries, campervans and caravans are mainly thought of. In any case, it's not a cruise ship with lots of facilities, although there's plenty to eat and drink. The route appears to be mainly used by the French and Spanish. I believe that the service can also be of use to particularly the Dutch, Belgians, Germans and Scandinavians. In any case, I am very pleased with it. Recommended is a 2-person cabin (berth).
"Start of the holiday"
Highly recommended if you want to travel to Portugal. Tidy cabin and good shower. The cabin was clean. You sleep while you travel and the following morning you're suddenly 700 kilometers further and you can continue your journey well rested. We would do it again next time.
"Good trip "
Great punctuality. Good facilities, cleanliness and staff manners. It was a very quiet trip. The journey doesn't feel long. There is enough common areas both inside the ship and outside. The bar prices were not very high.
"Our trip to Portugal"
It was a pleasant experience for us friendly people on board. It made our trip to Portugal doable because we could enjoy the crossing without having to think about mileage. It made a difference of about 2000 kilometers and with todays fule prices it is higly recommended.
"Quiet sailing"
We were very pleased with the crossing, ship, staff and facilities. One remark, the port is hard to find and hardly sign posted (outside St Nazaire!). And when it's as quiet as when we were there (about 3 caravans) we question the requirement to be present so far in advance. Aside from that nothing but praise!
"Take the boat"
A great mode of transport to go to Spain: fast, reliable and relaxing
"Nice"
It's nice to move a camper van, the boat is pleasant, but the trip is long. It's quicker with a good book.
"Practical and economical"
A very pleasant journey, very practical to go to Spain or to Portugal. A pleasant staff. It's a good way to relax away from the stress of the road.
"Saint-Nazaire - Gijon journey "
It was not the first time I travelled by ferry but it was the first time I did this route and in company. The staff was very kind and well-organised. The food and drinks were very affordable. The departure and arrival times were also very good. I had a great time. I would do it again and as many times as possible, especially on the chosen route. I encourage everybody to travel by ferry and to enjoy themselves. By the way, all of the cabins were very comfortable.
"Crossing Saint Nazaire-Gijon"
On 03/06/2013 we travelled to Saint Nazaire from Gijon. Bothe the boarding as well as the crossing ws very pleasant. The quality of the catering was fine as well. The return journey on 25/06/2013 had one blemish only because the boarding took extremely long. First to be on the premises 2 1/2 hours in advance and last to be on the boat at 7.40pm. The wait in the car with caravan in heat was not enjoyable and the waiting room facilities capacity is not enough for the amount of passengers. The long queue at the restaurant was also not very nice. Despite the return journey we look back with pleasure on our crossing.
"A crossing without hidrance"
A comment about the waiting time at the till during breakfast: why is the coffee machine there? It delays the process and creates a never-ending queue. It would be better to put it elsewhere and use tokens. A second comment: our cabin wasn't really clean, hair pins and drugs on the floor, plus one side on the matress wasn't in a very good condition! Otherwise, the staff was nice, always ready to help and even funny!
"Recommend to friends"
After a tiring drive by Britain, it was relaxing to return to Asturias in St. Nazaire-Gijon Ferry. We had made the reservation several months in advance and will recommend to our friends.
"A stress-free journey between Spain and France"
We are satisfied: relaxing, ponctual. Very pleasant: thanks for that prestation.
"A returned journey aboard the ST NAZAIRE - GIJON"
A great crossing for a small budget. It was cheap and relaxing. We settle quickly and nicely inside the boat. The cabin is clean and practical. I would do it again.
"To do again without moderation"
Hello. As it was our first crossing, we arrived with plenty of time in St Nazaire. The check-in was good. A charming and pleasant hostess explains things to us very well. There were any problems neither at boarding nor when we got the keys for the cabin. The staff aboard was very nice. The cabin is just fine. The bar is very good as well. However, it is a shame that you cannot go on all the decks. Our only disappointment is regarding the boarding on the Spanish side. The check-in is outide. However, we are told by three hostesses that we must wait ourside and we'll get called. For boarding, we pass through a control. Then we receive a corridor number, but when we get there, were are told that it's the wrong place. The car boarding is a bit disorganised. Apart from that, it was a good crossing both ways. We really liked it and we'll probably use that company again.
"Comfortable"
The trip Gijon - St Nazaire was quite comfortable. If you, like us, enjoy camping in Portugal or (North) Spain, the Netherlands by car saves this trip a long drive. The price is very reasonable compared to the cost of fuel and tolls if you are travelling through the highways. So nice option.
"Service excellent"
No problems with this service and have used this ferry for the 3rd time!
"Trip"
A crossing without a glitch.
"The catering is to be improved"
Everything is fairly good, but there isn't enough transparency regarding the catering for pedestrian passengers. Price of bread and butter in the menu. The meals also lack originality. Spanish or Portuguese dishes instead of those boring boiled vegetables.
"St Nazaire-Gijon Crossing"
It was a perfect crossing on a well maintained boat and with a professional staff, thanks
"Saint-Nazaire / Giron in June"
Very pleasant trip. A good atmosphere between the truck drivers and the holidaymakers. The weather was calm. The return was less tiring than if I drove.
"cabin and bathroom towels cleanliness"
Very good from St Nazaire. Very dirty from Gijon! But this ferry is very practical.
"Rested well"
It was a good choice, chose this form of travel, it was comfortable and rested well, was a good experience, to take the car on the ferry and then easily move to Brittany and Normandy. The only thing we turned difficult was finding where was located the port of Saint Nazaire, as this in another town nearby and not very well marked.
"Perfect crossing"
Crossing went really well and weather was lovely too.
"Gijon Sail"
I gave a review after making initial booking as all was in order. I felt very let down on the cleanliness of the cabin. I feel sure that apart from the toilet area the rest of the cabin wasn't touched. The floor appeared not to have been cleaned in months and quite a lot of debris under the beds and on table between beds. The area that was open to the general public was like a palace compared to the private area. We did mention to a member of staff about our complaint, and they explained that the floor was presenting a problem and a professional cleaning company had been employed to rectify the problem. Dirty finger marks ere on the underside of the top bunks too. All in all 3/10 for bathroom area only that also had biro marks up the wall, Would we travel on this Ferry again, sorry No!
"A beautiful experience"
My experience was a positive one, I enjoyed the crossing, although the sea was a bit rough. The ferry left a bit later tan it should have but it got to the destination on time. The crew were really nice and helpful. I really liked the crossing in general.
"Very nice"
We had a cabin at the front of boat. The crossing went well.
"Nice ship lack of chairs"
It is us liked to make it. Crossing just a pity that there were no chairs on the deck just to sit outside.
"Sea highway st nazaire giron"
I recommend this cruise. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly. We had a cabin with shower, the beds were confortable. The restaurant is friendly and has a nice view on the front of the boat. It would just be nice if the Sunday departure from Giron was later
"A pleasant crossing with GLD Atlantique"
We appreciated the respect of the timetable, the friendliness and the availability of the staff, the confort of the ferry and of the lounge at each crossing. The self-service diner offers a good choice as for breakfast, fruit salad and warm croissants. A good time!
"A nice short cruise"
pefect crossing. A slight setback: if you have a dog as we do, it must stay in the car, it's true that the ferry is more for the truck drivers than for holidaymakers. IT DOESN'T SUIL OUR SATISFACTION HOWEVER.
"Perfect"
Fast internet booking, fantastic crew on board, ferry crossing was quiet and was on time, no complaints.
"Fantastic experience"
Very easy to book, boarding and return. Boat was very good but for those who do not take sleeping pillows they dont provide any. We even found us our camera we forgot on the boat. Shame they dont travel to more destinations!
"my opinion"
If that friend must choose between you and brittany ferry, I would recommend Britanny ferry, I am sorry. The cabin and the wash room were dirty, no mattress protection (we slept with ou clothes on) the bed were made in a haste, no hangers to put our clothers. not a welcoming and functional cabin. nice staff.
"Motorcyles"
The strapping down of bikes was done with little regard to looking after them as a normal owner would. I had to stop one seaman from putting a steel hook directly to the alloy frame of a bike. This would have seriously damaged the bike. The straps were put on using a flimsy piece of carpeting under them. This left saddles with nice marks upon removal and suspensions were cranked right down. They seemed unable to strap bikes down using the centre stands, preferring to try their best to snap side stands, only a matter of time before this happens. They could do with studying the way in which other lines such as Condor strap bikes down.
"This line should be promoted"
Very good second experience. It's not summer yet, so we have to wait for the deck IV to fill. As for trucks, I have the impression that most people taking this journey are Portuguese carriers who save energy and money before going on the French and European roads from the Saint Nazaire terminal. The French transport industry obviously (unless I am mistaken) prefers to throw their trucks on the A10 and the awful road of the Landes. You should put billboard to incite transporters to use your line along the Bordeaux-Bayonne itinerary. Apart from that my 11 years-old grandson thought that the two crossings were perfect. He'll do it again with his parents
"annoying wake-up message"
we are taking this line for the holidays for second consecutive year and we are delighted with the cabin, the reception and the self-service. However, we really didn't appreciate the messages transmitted in the cabin and in the corridors to announce that the cafe was open and that breakfast were available. they should really cancel that, because the boat was still a long way from arriving and we had planned on sleeping late. Holidaymakers start their holidays late and go away tired because of their jobs, the road, the holidays preparations. They sometimes have a long way to go after Gijon. It's really unpleasant to get awaken so loudly and you can't go back to sleep and the passengers know about this cafe and their opening hours; such an awakening can only dissuade them to go there.
"Great trip"
Good cruise with a very friendly and professional crew.
"Travelling: St Nazaire - Gijon"
Convenient but unfortunately we had to wait up to 5 hours to board.
"A ferry you can use with eyes closed"
Very good crossings. Very few swaying during the inbound journey despited a tourmented sea and barely nothing on the way back. Confortable cabin and very nice crew. Claasical self catering food but beautiful dining rooms.
"Satisfied"
We are very happy with this handy link Gijon to St Nazaire. This is our fourth voyage and probably not the last!
"A safe journey"
The ferry is solution to go to Galicia or to Portugal. Depending on the chosen option, the prices are lower or higher that what we'd pay for fuel, toll and hotel. The car meter gets less kilometers and the driver can get a rest in fairly confortable cabins. The 16 hours on board go quickly. Possibility to eat, drink at the bar and do some last minute shopping. The deck access ables to see the coast approaching.
"Very comfortable way of travelling"
It’s a very comfortable way of travelling with the car. You can sleep during the night and drive during the day. There is a lovely restaurant, bars, a café… so the journey doesn't seem long at all.
"Great journey"
We really enjoyed our travel with GLD Atlantique, lovely large cabins both ways, really nice boat, good bar with snacks, and restaurant. Very smooth crossings St Nazaire-Gijon & return. Would recommend it to anyone.
"Incredible but true!"
Absolutely recommendable. We travelled for the first time this Easter with a 4-year-old boy, so we reserved an ensuite cabin in order to have more intimacy and be more comfortable. It was perfect even though the meteorological forecasts were not supposed to be good in the Cantabrian coast. The cabins were spacious and the furniture was new, which gave a very good impression. It actully seemed we were in a cruise haha..The staff was really nice and the ferry followed the schedule. I have to say they exagerated with the boarding time..we were there two and a half hours in advance and we ended up boarding 45 minutes in advance. We did that same route by car a few times and it was exhausting. From now on we are always going to go by ferry!
"Fast and comfortable"
We took the ferry from Gijon to Saint Nazaire because we’d always wanted to travel to the French Brittany. It was 4 of us: a couple, a little girl and a baby, plus our dog. The journey lasted 15 hours, and we slept in our cabin, which was very clean and comfortable. Our dog stayed in the car, because it was more comfortable for her. I have to say that I was sick during the outbound and both my baby and I were sick in the return too! However, I think travelling by ferry is an experience that you should have at least once in a lifetime!
"Perfect for me and my dog"
It was the first time I travelled by boat and I loved it. The boat is very nice, the cabinet was bigger than I expected, the food was good and the staff was kind and they gave us the blankets we asked for. The thing that I was most concerned about was my dog. He stayed in my car and I could visit and walk him each hour (but I only did it twice, one time before sleeping and another in the morning). This was perfect because the dog is used to the car and he was relaxed (sleeping) all the time. It was better than leaving him in the boat kennels (I tried that in the next boat to Ireland, and I didn't like it because the dog was nervous all the journey). I really recommend this to anyone.
"Alternative travel"
This means of transportation allows you to relax as it is very comfortable on board.
"Comfort"
It was a very comfortable journey. We travelled overnight had a nice rest and sleep in the cabin. Also we enjoyed a pleasant meal.
"Review"
Very good impression overall of the ship.
"Nothing special!"
Not great value as a single traveller and on the night crossing it's a little noisy. No couchettes available and the seats in the lounge area were a bit worn out and cold.
