The port town of Hirtshals is on the coast of Skagerrak on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy, at the top of the Jutland Peninsular in northern Denmark. Known for its fishing and ferry port, the town's economy is heavily reliant on the fishing industry and on tourism, with many houses available to rent during the summer months. Larvik is a town and port located in Vestfold County in Norway and is a town that can trace its history back to the late 17th century when it was founded in 1671 by Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenlove, the first Count of Laurvig. The Treschow estate, which is currently owned by Mille-Marie Treschow "Norway's richest woman" is located in Larvik and was created in the 1820's when the last Count of Laurvig was declared bankrupt.
