Regarded as one of Denmark’s most commonly used ports, Helsingor Port is considered one of the quickest and most reliable gateways from Denmark to Sweden. The port is found on the north east coast of Zealand, an island laying just off the coast of Eastern Denmark. It is most famously known for being the home of Kronborg Castle, the setting for William Shakespeare’s famous play, Hamlet. The castle is representative of the rest of the city; the centre is occupied by quaint pedestrian streets sitting around the impressive cathedral, giving a historic feel to the place. Managing to distribute 72 crossings per day to Helsingborg, a major city on the west coast of Sweden, Helsingor Port is a bustling hub for commuters and is getting busier by the day. The ferry route to Helsingborg only lasts for around 20 minutes, a crossing which is supplied by Scandlines, so typically uses more basic vessels. However, due to recent increases in the volume of traffic, extravagant cruise ships have now been introduced. Around the port area are features of the maritime heritage of the region, including a Danish Maritime Museum which is very popular with visitors.
