"Poor performance "
My sailing to Saint helier was supposed to be Saturday 12th November at 0900.i was informed that the sailing had been changed to 12.30.the ferr eventually left Portsmouth at1645 and arrived into Saint helier at 05.00 the following morning Sunday 13th November. So I lost a day's paid stay at my hotel because of this.on top of that I was informed that my crossing today Tuesday 15 November had been cancelled and I was put on last nights crossing for Saint helier to Poole arriving01.00 this morning, because of this shocking performance by condor my 3 day break in Jersey has been ruined.on top of this on my sailing out to Saint helier I bought a meal costing £9.30. my bank account is showing me my card ha bee charged by condor for 1 meal no less than 4 times.so in effect condor has taken £ 28 pounds from me ,how can this be allowed to happen. I have just arrived home after a 6 hour drive exhausted with holiday ruined. We'll done condor, absolute disgrace. I will never sail with you again.
"Great journey "
Lovely and helpful staff. The ship left on time, the seats were comfortable and the lavatories were super clean. The journey was smooth even with a storm coming. Overall my experience was perfect
"Non Existent Ferry"
I cant review this trip as I did not happen. When we turned up to try and drop our bags we were told ferry had been cancelled . I did not receive any notification despite having been informed about previous changes. ALthough the staff were helpful if we had not decidedto try nad drop bags and just gone straight into St Helier as we had intended we would still not have known and would have turned up at the schedule time to find no ferry and no way to travel. w
"Enjoyable journey "
Really easy to use website, the travel onto the boat was easy, the boat was really comfortable
"Disabled access "
On the return crossing there were no facilities to enable a handicapped gentleman to get on deck, ie. Nothing to bridge the raised door thresholds to the outside, pretty damn poor for the wheelchair bound man Surely failing to provide a means to exit out of the ship is against health and safety guidelines based on if there was an emergency?? And the food was disgusting, well the lasagne certainly was !
"Excellent staff"
Staff were extremely safe and efficient. Cleaning of tables was done constantly in the restaurant . We booked a reclining seat for the overnight ferry-unbelievably uncomfortable - I can’t recommend
"Travel to Guernsey "
Pleasant crossing / helpful and friendly staff / and food was really good
"Luggage storage "
The trip on the ferry was pleasant if a little boring. A book exchange or a place to purchase magazines would be useful as the internet is very limited. I As the ferry leaves Guernsey in the evening a place to store luggage would be useful as we were staying at a hotel out of town. Trying to find out about this was difficult so adding information on your website would be a big improvement in your customer service.
"Awful night ferry"
The recliner chairs were not comfortable to sleep on, you need a leg rest to stop your legs going numb. I also had the burger and chips which gave me horrible belly pains around 04.30 onwards. This was my first overnight ferry experience and it wasn’t good at all.
"A good way to travel "
Night crossing very cold in recliner lounge overnight. Staff very helpful as I had walking issues so getting on mono bus. Would use again
"Frustrated traveller"
Mist frustrating form of travel. The outward journey, we were told to be no later than 8am for 9 am sailing. The queue only starting moving at gone 10 am, no announcements or explanations were given and we finally arrived in Guernsey over 3 hrs late. We choose to use the lounge facility on the outbound journey, paying for the upgrade, but my daughter spent mist of the time out of the lounge as there was no tables to do use for her laptop as she was doing school work. The return journey was a shambles, when we got to the ferry port we were casually told the ferry was no linger going to Portsmouth, but was now going to Poole. It was the late ferry, getting in at 11.30 pm, so I had booked a nights accommodation in Portsmouth so we could drive back to London fresh in the morning. The port worker said the good news was we would get there quicker, but did not mention the ferry was not leaving til 8 pm, not the 7 pm that was expected, so another long frustrating wait in the port. And shock horror we again boarded even later than that, arriving in Poole then having to drive to Portsmouth for the accommodation which was already paid for.
"Bad experience"
I took 3 times with this ferry but all delay over 1 to 2 hours. All the plan had to change. I'll never use it again.
"My fist sea experience travel by Condor Ferries "
I has a very safe travel the staff was very polite and helpful. I was anxious at first but I thourally enjoyed my journey. Thank you so much.
"Late departure as always"
Not even an apology or explanation to why it was late.to be honest I don’t think it has ever been on time so not sure why am I surprised .
"Never again 4 h30 delay"
Very slow boat, after a first delay of 2 hours, second delay arrived at 23.15 during the night!
"Lack of punctuality "
Both the outbound and return journeys were significantly delayed, resulting in me missing further travel connections, costing me substantial amounts of money in purchasing new travel arrangements. A very unsatisfactory experience.
"Round trip Portsmouth -Jersey-Portsmouth"
Round trip on the Condor Clipper, everything went to plan on the way out apart from cards getting declined du to poor signal, the till person tuts and shakes his head as if it were out fault, Jersey to Portsmouth the ship was 90 mins late, the front recliner area was freezing for the night crossing and the same person on the till was again tutting and shaking his head when we asked for ketchup all in all not a great experience but at least we got home safe.
"When Departure Times mean "whenever""
Our two ferry journeys (Jersey to Guernsey and back) were both delayed. We arrived at the terminal on time for departure in Jersey having had no warning about the delay. At least I got a email from DirectFerries when our return journey was also delayed. Which meant we arrived at our lodgings very late - making our hosts stay up to meet us, and leaving us exhausted. Condor Ferries, never again! They have a captive market, obviously and can do what they please.
"Feedback "
.
"Good experience but bad punctuality"
The ship arrived one hour late
"Experience on Condor"
We travelled Club Class, wasn't sure what to expect. The little extra you pay males the trip souch better. Comfy reclining seats, quiet behind doors, free tra, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water, snacks throughout the trip. The wash bag with nech cushion, ear plugs etc is a very nice extra which is also free. Food on board great quality and reasonably priced
"delayed"
the ferry ran 6 1/2 hours late and we received no refund or even a complimentary drink when embarking , disgusted as it cost me a extra hotel booking , once on board we were greeted with a closed bar and limited catering ( toasted sandwiches) after hanging around untill oo.30 until boarding .
"Lack of communication "
The ferry is always great but directferries communication is not great. We found at after enquiries into why we were not docking in Guernsey that the route had been changed but you had not notified us. This was disappointing!
"Great place "
Really enjoyed my trip. Unfortunately a small language barrier on lunchtime. I was upstairs in the bar and as there was no speakers I missed out on the food. I heard some small noises but that was down to language as I couldn’t hear or understand. But apart from that. A very enjoyable and relaxing trip. See you soon
"Trip to Guernsey "
Great trip the ship cut throu the waves perfectly. Staff were very helpful.
"The Crossing"
We had a very good crossing both ways. I would point out the the cabin 711 has two faults. We had this on both our crossings. One the plug sockets are that low you cannot plug in a hair dryer! Which I found on our return trip a little frustrating. Second. It is next to the door that goes out to an area where the ships staff go through to have a cigarette. Did find that this happened during the night and that they did not whoever it was crew or passengers shut the door quietly. Not good when you have a long drive home the next day! Also found the staff apart from Becky and a couple of others miserable to say the least. Think Condor you need to brush up on this. Other that all good.
"Why was my trip cancelled"
I found the cancellation due to "maintenance" hard to believe This cost me money and was totally unsatisfactorily explained
"Smooth Sailing"
I'd highly recommend this ferry service, the price was very cheap especially if you need to get away for a few days. Everything on board was very well maintained and managed.
"Rough ride"
The weather was bed and the journey was extremely turbulent, causing a lot of passengers to be sick throughout the crossing. The worse ferry crossing I have ever been on. My partner spent the journey in the loo being sick!! I understand the crossing maybe better in good weather, need to watch for bad weather conditions.
"Cancelled ferry"
On your notification I was informed that this ferry was cancelled. I was asked to provide details which I did as to whether I wanted a refund or credit note. I chose a refund but so far have heard nothing else. I am not impressed.
"GREAT CROSSING DESPITE STORM DENIS DISRUPTION. "
DELAYED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR DUE TO LOTS OF FREIGHT LOADING, TOILETS SPOTLESS, DUTY FREE WELL LOOKED AFTER, STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL AND OUR CROSSING WENT WELL. JUST ONE CRITICISM, CAN THE BOAT HAVE SOME DECENT COMFY BOOTH STYLE AREAS AS WELL AS THE HALF MOON KITCHEN STYLE SEATS, ON THE 8 HOUR CROSSING IT IS HORRENDOUSLY UNCOMFORTABLE, WE UPGRADED TO THE RECLINER SEATS AT THE FRONT OF THE BOAT BUT THAT DOESN'T HAVE A TABLE TO REST LAPTOPS ON TO CONTINUE WORK AND THERE IS ONLY TWO INCONVENIENTLY PLACED PLUGS IN THE CAFE SEATING AREA ALSO THE FREE HALF HOUR WIFI DIPPS IN AND OUT OF CONNECTION IF IT ACTUALLY CONNECTS AT ALL GIVING ONLY 6 MINUTES USABLE LINK IN THE WHOLE HALF HOUR, WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO PAY FOR ANY FURTHER HOURS OF USE IF THEY WILL ONLY HAVE 60 MINS OF CONNECTION OVER THE TOTAL JOURNEY TIME? IM SURE THESE THINGS COULD BE RESOLVED, AFTER ALL THE BIG RIVER CRUISE SHIPS MANAGE.
"Great trip"
The journey was great. The Ferry left on time and reached the destination on time. The lentil soup which I purchased was delicious. One of the female toilet doors was faulty and could not close.
"Condor is the worst... You're better of swimming with a pool float"
I had a booking on Flybe paid for - but their baggage fee (for hold luggage) turned out to be more than 2 tickets on Condor. So, I ditched Flybe and decided to take the 2hr ferry.... Condor was supposed to leave at 5:20pm - we were eating an early dinner at town at 4pm when I just happened to open up the ticket email and notice that they close boarding 40 min prior to departure! Crazy for walk-on passengers. We made a mad dash to hotel for luggage and then to the pier and arrived just 45 min prior to departure... Only to find exactly no-one there. No passengers, no staff. 15 min later a guard came out to tell us the ship was delayed 30 min. Fine... We waited. After an hour I went looking next door for someone. In the Condor office was a red headed guy that with a big smile said he had no idea how late the ship was, but would check.. Turns out it is 3hr late (big smile - no apology). Went back to service area to wait. The ship was 3:20 min late - when it came time to get our tickets same guy acted like he had never seen us before (right out of Monty Python), then again same guy at boarding acted like we were strangers even tho there were only 5 passengers in total.. So weird. Once on the boat no-one gave us any instructions, where to sit, what was available, where our luggage was, where to go to depart, where to pick up luggage. Service just really was bad. Supposed to arrive into Jersey at 7:20pm - instead got in at 11pm - to hotel at midnight. Totally ruined our night. No email or call from Condor, no apology, nothing. Will NEVER use their service again
"Interesting trip beware of extra costs if wanting to upgrade with this company!"
We for the first time travelled to Jersey on the boat. The boarding at Portsmouth was good and straight forward, and the journey was ok. We booked a recliner seat. The area where the seating is gives a good view, however the seats did not recline very far! Having traveled on airplanes my view was that they reclined less then I have experienced on planes which was a disappointment. As a result of our exsperience with the seating we tried to book a cabin on our way back. Beware this company charges £35 for any changes including an upgrade! This is not an exsperience that we have had in the past when we have upgraded. The charge is £10 if you do it online, however this was not possible. Had we have booked directly with condor ferries we would not have been chanarged for an upgrade. We were not able to book a cabin sadly. The return departure was delayed. I understand that this can be the case with weather, however it was the lack of information about how long the delay would be which is my issue. The port had a loud speaker facility but this was not used to keep us updated and the internet only gave information that the boat was delayed not how long we would be left sitting in our car. This sadly was compounded by the fact that when we got into the boat and the seating area the heating did not work! Staff were aware, we were just given more blankets. A very very cold trip back.
"My trip"
Fast, no problems at all, i travel with motorbike and crew was helpfull. Club room was great. Only bad thing: Ship was late nearly 5 hours.
"Refund"
Where is my money??
"Visiting our new grandson."
The ship and the service were a bit tired and need updating. But still very functional.
"2 hour later."
The boat could do some renovations. Plus the boarding system through a van and a car allowing only 12 people at a time? I mean, are you sane people? That is the most inefficient way to do it.
"Crossing from Portsmouth to Jersey"
We were fortunate to have perfect weather for the crossing. This resulted in a smooth crossing and everything was on time. The facilities on board were very good. The only downside was that it took quite long to disembark as foot passengers.
"No travel"
Unfortunately couldn't make the trip as mum had a fall and had to drive back to Ringwood. Couldn't get a refund😥
"Portsmouth to Guernsey and return"
Arrived at Portsmouth at 08.00am for 09.00 am sailing to be told ferry had been delayed by 10 hrs and we should have received a text message informing us. We did not receive a text message from either Direct ferries or Condor. When I approached both companies they both blamed each other. That left us in Portsmouth for 10 hrs wait which also meant we would arrive in Guernsey at 04.00am and as we were camping could not put our tent up at that time in the morning. We asked for assistance for a cabin or recliner seat from both companies and neither were forthcoming with an offer so we had to pay for a cabin ourselves. The journey back guess what ferry delayed by 3 hrs did we get a text this time to warn us. Of course not. Not impressed with Direct ferries or Condor. Currently awaking response from complaint to both parties
"Voyage 8 JuneCancelled by Company - Refund requested (DFP 126523999; Condor 9268912)"
This trip was cancelled because of weather and I had to make alternative arrangements to fly from Southampton. I was not advised by text of the cancellation and turned up at the Portsmouth port. Condor Ferries desk (helpful in circumstances)told me I was eligible for a refund and woud submit nil invoice to Direct Ferries, but i had to collect from DF. Please reverse my credit card debit accordingly or credit my account as follws Gareth J and Merran G Evans Commonwealth Bank of Australia Account No (AU 3003) 1002 3798 BSB 063003 Swift Code CTBA AU2S I have had terrible experience with Direct Ferries so far- had to alter my booing Guernsey to Jersey (DFP126524302) from Sunday 9 June to Monday 10, and my staff had to spend hours (literally) on phone from Australia confirming that the online change ('requested but not yet agreed') had in fact gone through, as well as paying substantial penalty charge -- and all that for a single foot passenger without car! I am happy to recommend Condor Ferries on my experience with their staff so far, but would not recommend Direct Ferries to anyone. Pls ensure my refund goes through quickly Gareth Evans +61 414 340 057
"Too long"
Now we are getting older I think the journey is too long .we will use the poole route .the food was cold and grease greasey route suits us well
"Disappointing!"
We had booked for a few days in Jersey, a party of 4. I had an e mail from Direct ferries (I'd booked the crossing through them) a few days before we were due to leave to say that there was a problem with the Liberation engines and that the ferry would not be calling in at St Peter Port - something I wasn't particularly expecting - but that our departure and arrival timings were largely unchanged. Fabulous. When we arrived in time for a 09:15hrs departure, we were told that it had been delayed until 10:30hrs and that it would be on the Clipper instead. It actually left at 11:30 - so we had been waiting at Poole for 3 hours. We were also asked when we booked in whether we had been informed that our return journey had also changed? No. So we would not be travelling Thursday afternoon but OVERNIGHT and not due back in Poole until 09:30hrs on Friday morning. Having received one update from Direct ferries, I had assumed that any other changes would also have been communicated, however no. So we boarded the Clipper on Monday 13th May and found that every single seat on the vessel was full of someone, and there were people sitting on the floor as well. Not a very relaxing experience. We were indeed given a voucher for a meal and drinks to recompense to an extent our disruption - thank you! The return journey was LONG (12 hours) and uncomfortable. I would never choose to take an overnight ferry unless I had a guaranteed cabin - this was not available. And I realise that you cannot legislate for passengers' behaviour, however there were 2 intrusive noises which went on for a lot of the night. Firstly the door to the Club cabin bangs loudly when thoughtless passengers just leave it to slam after they go out to the loo overnight. And I think all the passengers went out at some time. The other really noisy item in the cabin is the coffee machine. I don't think I've ever heard a machine make such a range of noises! A cacophony of hisses and squeals and beeps - was it chosen for its noises? The first passenger who decided that she was up for the day and wanted a cup of coffee set it running at 04:30hrs, after which others thought they would follow suit. So a couple of quick wins which may help your future passengers spend a more settled night. Noise insulation on the door and a quiet coffee machine. However, we will not be travelling with Condor again.
"Very poor I will be making complaint for part refund of fare."
When we finally landed in Jersey it was 19.40 rather than 16.30 which is what we had paid for. We had arrived at 14.00 to Guernsey docks expecting to sail at 15.30. Having sat in our car for an hour like idiots we realised that something was wrong. We rang the sailing information message service ....nothing mentioned. Then Condor themselves to find out the high speed link had been replaced by a standard ferry which would leave at 17.30. No message had been sent. They explained that they had informed Direct ferries who we had booked through and they should have informed us of the change. The ferry itself compares poorly with other cross channel offerings. There is a pokey children’s room with nothing much in it and a fruit machine area. The duty free is laden but again rather cramped. You end up staying in the self service cafe area which has TVs showing bbc1. The quality of the food is low, without any imagination, pride or flair. Standard poorly cooked/warmed fayre. The reclining seats in that area are showing massive signs of wear and all need recovering.
"Lack of communication and very poor customer service"
Was due for the Portsmouth to Guernsey route yesterday morning at 9am. Set off from Poole at 6am to be in Portsmouth in plenty of time for our important work trip of bringing new ultrasound to the island of Guernsey. Arrived at the port at 07.15am well ahead of the hour departure window. Met a lovely woman elderly woman also going to Jersey/ Guernsey queued right in the condor lanes with us. She also was back and forth inside and out and asked lots of officials in yellow and orange visibility to make sure we were in the right place, they all confirmed. At approximately 8am the 3rd car in the queue a local from Jersey decided to go in to see what was going on and why we weren't boarding. She came out frantic as she had been told we had an hour to make it to Poole as the service had been diverted. At no point did a recieve an email/ call/ or text to advise me of any change or diversion. Worse still we were sitting in the lane where the Portsmouth staff could clearly and visibly see us from their desk since 07.15am when they had the information that the ferry had been diverted. I rang direct fairies en route back to Poole where they blamed condor ferries for lack of communication. Whilst my colleague rang condor ferries for an explanation and they equally blamed direct ferries for no communication. The Jersey locals behind us had booked directly with condor and equally had no communication of diversion. Luckily she had gone in or we would have been sitting there like numpties. Still (the next day) waiting for a call back from direct ferries. Also paid for "an essential travel pack" which no one has heard of and I do not have in my possession. Will be making a formal complaint for lack of communication/poor customer service/ and general lack of professional courtesy.
"Condor ferries Portsmouth to jersey 7th May 2019"
The ferry left very late due to no fault of their own. Very comfortable bar and lounge areas. Limited toilet facilities. My husband is disabled and. We had very helpful assistance. The only annoying thing was that most of the bar and general crew although pleasant had very limited English and when asked a question gave a reply in very gargled limited and difficult to understand English. We are returning on the night ferry and have a cabin so hopefully things may be a little better.
"Nice food"
Nice friendly staff and superb food
"Excellent crossing"
Brilliant in the ocean class club seats. Worth the money for an 8 hr crossing
"Portsmouth/ Jersey "
VERY reliable perfect for our needs, value for money
"Condor Ferries."
For the crossing, Portsmouth to St. Helier, and return. Condor were extremely helpful. Direct Ferries from whom the tickets were purchased - less helpful with unobtainable telephone numbers with which to get up to date information on sailing times which could have been affected by sea and weather conditions at that time.
"Military efficiency"
Our dealings with Direct Ferries and Condor were very good indeed from their loading and unloading of the car to their also keeping us up to date by my Tablet on the timetable for the return ferry. This was particular helpful as their had been poor weather earlier in the week 8causing cancellations of sailing. This took a great deal of anxiety away from our return preparations and in my case it all ran smoothly like being back in the RAF. All personnel were most helpful and pleasant in all areas. My wife and I were greatly impressed on return with the overnight cabin accodation with good ammenities, very clean alround and helpful personal toiletry items. Thank you very much to all who contributed to a hassle free journey from Portsmouth to Guernsey and return. Highly recommended. An ex RAF Aircrew member and wife.
"Travel Delays"
Outward trip from Guernsey on 11 Sept was fine. We were due to return on Liberation on the 18th. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to the weather (not your fault) and I have nothing but praise for the young lady at Poole who was able to arrange for us to return from Portsmouth the following morning. On the 19th you were still having problems with the weather and the Clipper did not leave Portsmouth until 12.00? due I understand to the late arrival of the overnight boat. Fortunately we had been able to get a cabin and the crossing was if anything just a little "lumpy" My only complaint was that having used up the free wi-fi allowance I could not find how to pay for extra time even though it seemed possible to do so.
"Commodore Clipper"
Plenty of room in the main lounge and and hot/cold drinks available all night if you cannot sleep on the night crossing. The reclining seats were not very comfortable but ok. Nice quiet ship and a smooth crossing in both directions
"One week holiday in Jersey"
Condor Ferries are clean and efficient. Directions to load the cars were easy and straight forward to follow. The Club Class lounge was brilliant. Endless tea, coffee and biscuits while the journey home through the night was restful in the cabin which gave us a good night's sleep along with a hearty breakfast in the morning. Will definitely recommend and travel again with Condor.
"Ferry Crossing to and from Guernsey "
The sea was calm travelling both ways - always a bonus. The crossing from Portsmouth was pleasant and the reclining seats comfortable. The food served in the restaurant was good and the menu varied. The duty free shop seemed well stocked. However, the crossing from Guernsey back to Portsmouth was not so pleasant - no fault of Condor ferries it is a 13 hour trip back overnight and the reclining seats, which don't recline that much were not so comfortable. Also it was cold and although small pillows and thin blankets are provided I found it difficult to keep warm. The evening meal we had was good. All the staff were pleasant and helpful on board and the staff at the terminals likewise. It is obvious that a cabin is much the best way to travel on the long return journey from the Channel Islands when using the obviously much slower car ferry than the ones that sail from Poole, if they are available. All in all it is a good service. I would certainly recommend Condor ferries whilst pointing out that a large vehicle ferry is much slower.
"Good experience"
The cabin was comfortable. The ship has no forward views- you need to pay a premium for either seating or a cabin with this, but other than that the staff were really friendly and helpful and the lounge areas were airy and comfortable.
"Family trip"
Our family with young children really enjoyed our ferry trip, we booked a cabin both ways and were very glad we did, it meant we had a private room as a base, to watch dvds, play games and read whilst relaxing on the beds. It was worth getting the deluxe cabin with a window facing the front, we had a great view of the islands. Our children enjoyed going outside on deck to see the naval ships in Portsmouth and the islands. Instead of being a difficult 12 hour journey with young children they enjoyed the adventure. Definitely recommend a cabin both for day and night. Only downside was the cafe was expensive so take snacks and drinks.
"Was a suprise "
Enjoyed the return trip to Jersey from Portsmouth. Booked a cabin on the return journey. We were allocated cabin 801. We entered the cabin to be met by towels on the beds with a little bag of shower things . Gel, shower cap, soap etc. This was as we found quite a surprise when we couldn't find the shower. We hunted high and low to find it in the bathroom. There isn't one folks. I even took a video of the bathroom with the warning signs on the door warning you to be careful when showering. We were not told this cabin did not have a shower, and would not have booked it if we had known in advance. So to be clear CABIN 801 DOES NOT HAVE A SHOWER. Other than that the staff were friendly and professional. the food was OK. The ship was delayed 1 Hr on the return leg of our trip but we were informed and we arrived in Portsmouth on time anyway
"Clipper"
Our journey to and from Jersey on the Condor Clipper was smooth and uneventful. Apart from not sleeping much on our return night journey, the overall experience was pleasant enough. Facilities on board are what you would expect and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The ship is clean and tidy with plenty of space. The only problem I can see is the pricing of the cabins which are available in both directions. The prices for these are vastly different depending on the the time of day which is somewhat limiting for those on a budget.
"Guernsey trip"
I could not have faulted anything. We had excellent service from booking to travelling the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
"Hours of delays and no answers"
I arrived at Portsmouth international port exactly an hour before departure time, as it says on my booking. All the other ferries operator kiosks were open and happy to help their customers. Unfortunately it wasn't until another 50 minutes had past that Condors kiosk opened. The staff told me that departure time is no longer 1930 but sometime around 2230. I made an effort to remain in a good mood and asked the staff for a reason, however the staff were very dissmissive and were unable to answer. Our arrival time will now be 3 hours later and I have missed 1 of 2 meetings I have in Jersey. At 0230 I woke up and noticed how cold it was in the sleeping area. My phone thermometer and other paying customers registered 14° and the single thin blankets provides didn't do much to combat this. I asked the staff if there was any heating. Both crew members were sat in the children's play pen playing games and laughed at my request. Eventually I found a crew member who said it was okay to use and spare blankets. The onbard food was too expensive. and I was disappointed that my 14 hour episode wasn't discounted. I will not be using Condors Ferries again.
"Condor travel"
Absolutely wonderful I have no complaints
"Nice cabin"
Was good to book a cabin in the day time for just a little extra thank you had a good sleep and a shower
"Pleasant start to our holiday"
We decided to take the ferry to Guernsey as we regarded a boat trip would be an important part of our holiday. We were not disappointed. Booking procedure, checking in and boarding as foot passengers all went smoothly. The ferry was clean and comfortable and unexpectedly Uncrowded. After quiet refreshments in the bar, and watching the English coastline gradually slipping away into the distance, we ventured out on deck. We were lucky to be travelling through extremely smooth waters. There was a little fog mid channel, but once this cleared we enjoyed sunning ourselves on deck and enjoying the sea views, with occasional passing ships. All too soon, the small islands appeared and we disembarked at Guernsey harbour in anticipation of the rest of our week's holiday. We had been able to store our cases securely whilst on board, pick up was easy on arrival and we were transported with our luggage by car directly from the inside of the ferry to the harbour. The staff on board had been friendly and helpful. We cannot comment on catering facilities on board as we took picnic food with us and enjoyed it on deck. Our only slight problem was that on arrival through customs, we emerged from the building to find no taxis at all and a longish walk with our cases from the end of the pier to find a taxi to take us to our hotel. If we had known this we could have arranged to book a taxi in advance.
"Condors ferry to Jersey "
Found our first condors ferry trip as expected very helpful staff and present trip would definately go again
"true experience "
Sir had need to visit Jersey to see my brother (a resident) who is very Ill . I did not know how long it would be. Me being well past 80 had a younger person book by computer of which am short on knowledge of. Had thought may be a week would be enough --but one day was enough & important commitments occurred that minted I had to return home. Went to harbour office to have my return ticket rebooked for the earliest return boat. This the harbour Condor desk would not do for me but just giving me a phone No that needed me to rebook my boat. Am hard of hearing & booking No was very bad & near impossible for me to get through to. Decided to have a young friend to rebook that firstly was told the fee would be£17 got cut of before paying then further phoning & these friends paid £35 This rebooking charge & the need of paid passengers bad to the extreme as does a brothers close friend on Jersey paper who awaits what the Condor people reply to this complaint I Am Denis Howard booking 8949639 date 05.06.2018 Time 09.00 ps ship & other ratings good enough
"OK Ferry"
We travelled on an overnight sailing from Guernsey to Portsmouth, and Condo got us there on time. We had booked recliner chairs for sleeping but they are uncomfortable and the recliner lounge was cold. Numerous people in the lounge slept on the floor, I assume because of the chairs. The windows were also very dirty — they need cleaning. Not that there’ smuch to see off the bow at night, but coming to Portsmouth early in the morning we would have appreciated a clear view.
"Happy Sailing"
Great trip , the ferry was very quiet, lovely staff very helpful
"Homely luxury. "
A very pleasant crossing. Our cabin was well presented. Food rather disappointing as very ordinary and not freshly cooked but price reflected this.
"our trip"
Very well organised.
"Nice journey "
The staff were excellent and try to hel you as much as possible. Great experience
"Bad experience with Condor Ferries"
Just before boarding as a Lexus car passenger, my colleague and I were asked at check-in the purpose of our trip which we declared we were going over to look at a pipework that Jersey Hospital were unsure of it's safety, photographs sent were unclear so we wanted to take a look and after take a short leisurely break whilst over on the Island as it was the first time my colleague and I had been on the island. Apart from our clothing in suitcases we had two catalogues to hand to the hospital should our products be of any use to them in the future. We had nothing to hide or declare. The hospital visit was no longer than 15 minutes and not I would call a business trip as such as most of our time would be site seeing and relaxing on the island. We stayed at the Hotel Savoy which we also stated with Condor. However, we were told the trip was business and was disbelieved by your staff that we had tools in the car and was planning to do work on the island. They had an option to look at the car if they so wished but declined and just wanted us to pay the extra costs it was for business. Fortunately, your office were closed in the morning not opening till 9am at the ferry was sailing at 9am so they said they would give us the opportunity to pay the additional cost when got over to Jersey which I argued wasn't my intention based on what they thought we were doing in Jersey. We went across to Jersey and had a great stay, but hassled by Direct Ferries and Condor wanting their monies. Was told by Direct Ferries that this sort of thing happens because instead of driving over in vans/trucks etc. to do business many business are using cars. That isn't my fault and if they weren't 100% sure they should have taken the opportunity to take a look as to what we were carrying. Thought the service was very poor and certainly won't be recommending Condor to anyone. Next time I'll fly.... much easier with no hassle.
"A relaxing trip"
We travelled as a couple of foot passengers in Ocean Class from Portsmouth to Guernsey return and had a very relaxing journey, The facilities were good and we felt safe and secure in our area with complimentary tea, coffee, juice, water and cookies. The embarkation and disembarkation was straight forward and included a transit to the terminal by small coach. The return journey was overnight and included a stop in Jersey, but that suited us as we arrived in daylight If the recliners had foot rests it would be more comfortable.
"Bad service ever "
Due to weather conditions my ferry was cancelled. For that point I can't blame the company but, I didn't get any email to advise me it's the hotel who show information about the ferry cancellation. 1 and half hour late on evening and no apologies at all or anything from the company to apologies. The staff was the worst staff I ever had and I've done a lot of traveling. You ask something they can't answer or sent to you to someone else and that person don't know. The supervisor was in charge of cabin and seating down at know the right from the left and who was where and which seat. Supervisor ??? Ouch. I put 1 fornfacilities, competence and punctuality because I can't put 0. Food was cold, blind and I don't know if we can call that food. Was the last time I using direct ferries and Condit ferries
"Ferry to Jersey"
Fantastic Service. I was a foot passenger and was given a lift straight to the lift on the ferry, so no stairs and straight to seating and restaurant. The catering staff were fantastic, cheerful, helpful, and seemed to enjoy their roles, makes a refreshing change!!!! Product range was excellent. 45 min delay in setting off, bit annoying without an announcement to say so!!! But we still arrived on time at the other end. Not quite the welcome to Jersey I was expecting though. Very officious Customs Guys, who after a very early start to the day and a long tiring trip, grilled me for 10 mins on the reason for my visit. My visit was for short-term work purposes. Was quite taken aback, they made me feel like a criminal or a drug runner, which of course I'm not, I was merely on my way to work at a Radisson Hotel for 1.5 weeks!!! Overall a very pleasant trip on the ferry with great staff, a real credit to Condor Ferries for getting it right!!!!
"Boat trip"
Fantastic company. Great price. Spotlessly clean. Helpful staff Lovely food. Terrific
"Step out of time"
I recently took the Commodore Clipper to Guernsey, as a foot passenger, having been on the fast "vomit comet" previously. There was no comparison. The " VC" was awful but on the Commodore Clipper I absolutely loved the quiet, stately and gentle experience. There was space galore, seriously excellent food, and everywhere smiling and helpful staff. It was an unexpected step out of time into a kinder, more polite milieu and I loved every second of it. I didn't want to get off at the end ! It would be my idea of heaven to be able to do this trip at least twice every month just for the rest, and the tasteful stress free pleasure of it all
"Worst trip ever "
We had the worst trip of our lives we had we had a a sleepwalking drunk man around my children we had two people having sexual intercourse behind our children when we told stuff they told us to move but we had paid more for the special seat and there was 8 or us
"Annual holiday"
Chose the 'long' crossing to Jersey. Booking was easy. Booked a cabin to escape the crowds but was very surprised at how much space we had - there were no crowds. Everything was clean and the additional fruit and toiletries (and breakfast on the overnight return journey) were most welcome. The mattresses, quilts etc. were surprisingly very comfortable. Breakfast was well cooked and was lovely to eat watching the sunrise. Would certainly repeat if heading towards Jersey again. Far nicer than queuing at the airport!
"Happy"
Journey to Guernsey very smooth , traveled with our small dog on this crossing we found staff to be very helpful at all times .
"I like condor"
I have travelled on Condor many times to Guernsey and loved every minute of it. this year I took two of my friends with me and they also liked it we will definately be doing this again in the future. Condor is reliable safe easy to travel on. I love it. Rosalind.
"All part of the holiday"
Both the outward and the return crossings from Portsmouth to Guernsey were, in themselves, an enjoyable and relaxing part of our holiday. There was a question, on the outward crossing, as to whether we would arrive at Guernsey in time to catch the Sark boat. The Purser, and the van driver, Sergei, went out of their way to ensure that we did not miss the connection, and we really appreciated that. We have done the journey by the Condor Commodore Clipper many times, and would choose no other way.
"Long ferry travel"
I understand that cost may be to do with it but going form Guernsey to jersey first then Portsmouth added 4 hours onto my journey just to be back next to Guernsey which was quite annoying. The process to get on as a foot passenger is fine just not worth going for the reclining chairs even the people who were using the room didn't use the chairs as they didn't recline much and it was so cold in there everyone was buried under blankets and still struggled sleeping. The only benefit was that the brasserie still sold alcohol but it would've been nice if the bar stayed open instead of watching two members of staff wondering around the ferry.
"Travel with condor ferries"
We travelled to jersey in club class which was excellent, had a great journey going there. Coming back to Portsmouth we had to keep our luggage with us which we had to carry up the flights of stairs. Then when we were shown to ur cabin, we were told that we were sharing a toilet with the cabin next door, which was a bit strange, also we were put right by the entrance so it was very noises and couldn't go to sleep until it quiet ended down which was past midnight,,, the breakfast was very good.
"LOVELY RIDE!!!! enjoyed the trip and will do it again."
Not a review but just a comment. There were four passengers in the recliner seats and we were all lumped in seats 1,2, 3, 4 a bit in comfortable. maybe your programme should ask if I want to sit close to someone particularly when there is that room for choice!!!!
"Comfortable crossings"
Very good boats and service. Definitely use them again...
"Foot Passengers"
Our ferry experience with Condor was marred by the difficulty we experienced disembarking, both going to Guernsey from Jersey, and on the return three days later. Foot passengers embarked relatively quickly and smoothly, but disembarking was much more difficult and time consuming. The reason appeared to be the result of giving exclusive priority to vehicle drivers. I would recommend that Condor have a good think about how this could be rectified.
"Recent experience"
Slightly chaotic boarding. Poor onboard facilities. Very few reasonable English speakers (on an England-bound ferry!). Some of the non-English speakers a bit insolent to passengers. The whole experience could be much improved.
"a quiet night aboard"
I enjoyed the coffee making facilities and juice, water in the fridge for the overnight on the ferry. I thought I was only getting a more comfortable chair as an upgrade, so it was a pleasant surprise to have the reading materials, blankets and drinks too.
"Portsmouth to Guernsey Ferry"
Very enjoyable crossing. Pleasant staff and all necessary amenities.
"Dim the lights"
Great trip apart from the night crossing back, trying to get to some sleep in the club class lounge was almost impossible due to the lights.
"My crossing!"
Everything was fine on my crossing from jersey to Poole, and back to Jersey from Portsmouth.. I had a comfy seat in the private lounge for the long 10 hour day-time crossing from Portsmouth, which was very pleasant,-with hot drinks, biscuits and papers laid on. Food was good, and I gor my duty-free. My car was taken apart in jersey on the outward trip, obviously because I looked suspicious,-or maybe because I have a jersey registration plate. I look forward to going again.
"Ferries St Malo - Guernsey - Jersey - St Malo"
We went with Condor Ferries from St Malo to Guernsey, on to Jersey and back to St Malo. The booking of tickets was very smooth and the actual ferry trips worked very well. Very organised, friendly staff and pleasant trips.
"TRIP TO GUERNSEY"
Most enjoyable and pleasant, although the return journey was very long, Not having booked a cabin ( which was very expensive) Reclining seats were very comfortable, and pillows and blankets were supplied, Cheapest way to travel to the C.I. but would recommend a cabin on return especially if like me you are elderly.
"Been cruising"
On the journey to Portsmouth, despite concerns of friends at bad weather, we slept well and arrived fresh. On the return to Guernsey, sea was smooth, air clear and ship smooth. Great journey and friendly helpful crew.
"happy voyage"
good food.. good service... comfortable seat in the quiet lounge
"Mainsdream"
So relaxed. ... lm a traveller at heart anyway... will travel on yourCondor again in a heart beat
"Great service"
Spectacular views, punctual departure, good service, except for one staff member, who didn't seem very happy.
"A LIFE ON THE OCEAN WAVE"
UNLIKE ITS SISTER SHIP THIS FERRY CAN BE RELIED ON TO COMPLETE ITS JOURNEY AND ON TIME. IT DOES TAKE CONSIDERABLY LONGER BUT IT GETS THERE WHEN ADVERTISED. THE LIBERATION OFTEN MISSES STOPS OR JUST GOES SAILING PAST
"OVERHEATED CABIN SPOILT AN OTHERWISE PLEASANT VOYAGE"
Our outward voyage was comfortable and we appreciated the facilities of the Club Class. However, when on the return trip we went to our cabin, we found it heated to an intolerable temperature. I don't usually travel with a thermometer, so I cannot be more specific. Certainly it was grossly above what the outside temperature required. The window, of course, could not be opened. There was some kind of vent in the ceiling, but the staff member we approached did not know what it was for or how it operated. I think it was some sort of ventilator, but the function of the control knob was ambiguous. She did say that the heating onboard had only been turned on the day before. We tried to sleep, but it was impossible. We had paid the top price for a cabin so that we would arrive in Portsmouth refereshed, but this was in vain. We finally spoke to another staff member, who suggested we leave the outer door open, as well as the bathroom door. This we did, but it left us rather exposed. All in all, a bad night.
"Relocating to Guernsey "
Definitely the best way to arrive in Guernsey. Beautiful views of Sark and Herm and a real sense of arrival in historic St Peter Port. My brand new Mini Cooper arrived safely with me. Lots of space on the vehicle decks and easy to navigate. I absolutely recommend getting a cabin irrespective of the time of crossing. Comfortable berths with good bedding, tv and spacious ensuite. Exceeded expectations and made the whole experience very efficient as I was able to get work done too.
"Trip on the clipper"
Very comfortable trip from Portsmouth to Jersey, via Guernsey, had a day cabin so was able to have a nice shower and arrive fresh and ready for an evening out in Jersey. Find it rather expensive to travel on the clipper as we had our car and dog with us, would also be nice if we could check the dog on the way as its a long time for her in the car, I will travel this way again, far prefer the clipper to the liberation.
"Nice ferry but tardy!"
The facilities on the ferry were pretty good, recliner seats in the quiet lounge at the front on the way out and a four berth cabin coming back. Food was also quite good and reasonably priced. However ferry was about 35 mins late leaving Portsmouth and therefore arrived in Jersey late. Got a text on the afternoon we were due to come back saying that ferry would be 80 mins late in leaving Jersey so that messed up the plans a bit, however arrived in Portsmouth at about the scheduled time.
"Decent budget service"
People booking this service should be aware that the Commodore Clipper is a small ferry, dwarfed by the larger boats from (say) Brittany Ferries. This means it's more susceptible to sea conditions and therefore passengers who are prone to sea sickness should be well prepared! Our crossing from Portsmouth to Cherbourg was quite rough on the way out and we had a lot of sick people on board. The service was pretty slick, check in (at Portsmouth) was easy to find and the crew got us onboard in decent time. We were slightly late getting away, but nothing of any significance. On board, facilities were ok and nothing more - again, it's a smaller ferry so there's no entertainment as such, there are TVs in the lounges and one in the (small) kids area. The one in the kids play area showing up to date kids movies, but the play area did not have anything else in it. Food and drink was on the expensive side, but not stupidly so. The return from Cherbourg to Portsmouth was only slightly marred by the fact that the check in for Condor is not sign posted at all as far as I could see, so we ended up checking in at a desk marked for Brittany ferries, and even had a Brittanny ferries boarding card! The ferry wasn't in port when we got there, but it arrived about 10-15 minutes before our scheduled departure time. The crew turned it round in record time and we were away on time. Overall, the service would be described as "no frills". I didn't pay a great deal for the crossing, had I paid much more I think I may have felt a little short changed.
"Caravan/Camper Crossing to Cherbourg"
My wife and I traveled in 2015 with our car and caravan between Portsmouth and Cherbourg as arranged by the Caravan Club. This was a very good value crossing and very comfortable. We chose to pay the £5.00 extra for the quiet lounge. This year we took a campervan rather than a caravan and also had an excellent trip. We would be prepared to recommend this crossing.
"Good value"
This crossing was good value, compared with other ferry companies offering the same route on the same day. Just be aware that Commodore Clipper is not a mini cruise ship, it is a functional ferry which is why I suspect it can offer lower prices. We would use again if the crossing dates and times suit our plans.
"Excellent service."
We've crossed the channel by ferry hundreds of times with practically every company available but this was our first with Condor. It definitely won't be our last. A clean ship, cheerful, friendly & efficient staff, good quality food and great value cabins/quiet lounges. We will book for next summer as soon as the crossing becomes available.
"Jersey & Back"
We took the ferry from Portsmouth to Jersey and returned via the fast ferry to Poole. Both services were efficient, the ship's were clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. I would use the service again.
"Holiday."
It is very comfortable travelling on this ship and the food served in the resteraunt is excellent, with a good choice and well cooked food.
"Great trip"
For the money this was a great little trip with our camper van. No frills but we did not want that for this short crossing. On and off the boat very quick, all staff very helpful and we parked on the deck and could watch our camper from the bar area. Excellent value for money at £140 return.
"brittany ferries"
Great service with brittany ferries to cherbourg , hassle free.
"Commodore Clipper"
Nice small ship with great facilities. Spotlessly clean, stable in the storm (Kate) continued to operate when all the high speed services we're confined to port.
"Recent December Trip"
I was moved from my booking from Portsmouth to Poole but despite one engine out on the ferry, I had a pleasant trip which was comfortable and I enjoyed it as usual. Can't complain at all; staff through all the changes excellent and kept me well informed. Think the reputation condor has at the moment is undeserved and if only they could control the weather their service would be fine.
"portsmouth-cherbourg"
great and easy to book turned up at port all sorted drive on have meal look around get off no hassle great service
"Channel crossing"
Excellent. Very smooth, helpful service and the all round view from the top deck bar is lovely.
"journey on ferry"
enjoyable trip on the ferry to guernsey and back to portsmouth
"Very relaxing crossing"
Took a while to get on board but the staff were really helpful and friendly. We booked reclining chairs in the quiet lounge - excellent for a 5 hour crossing! Nice and compact with all services right where we needed them - recliners, loos, food, shop. Food was good and service excellent. Loos were clean. Helped by a very calm crossing and travel bands, it was great to be able to easily go out on deck. Only criticism if any is the central seating area was far too hot and the crossing seemed very slow - but I got to read my book!
"outstanding operator "
This is the third successive year we have used this operator... condor ferries simply leave the rest in their wake! Excellent prices and very courteous staff. Spotlessly clean and everything you need on this compact and well appointed vessel.
"Good value for money."
Friendly staff and good prices on board.
"Commodore clipper"
Very relaxing journey
"Great journey"
I took a ferry from Portsmouth to Cherburgh and back having a car on board. Boarding was quick and easy, loading cars was amazingly organised and handled well. Staff were helpful and ferry left on time.
"recent trip to vendee"
me and my husband recently used the commodore clipper from portsmouth to cherbourg and were very pleasantly pleased with the whole trip. from the price, booking process and the spot on departure times, the staff are excellent especially the very patient car deck guys and the muppets they have to deal with.. would definitely use again and highly recommend.. already looking to book our next trip.. thanks👍🏻
"condor ferry trip"
very good trip both ways on the ferry. travelling by motorcycle, the loading staff were very helpful and the front wheel clamps made the bike very secure. The ferry set off on times both ways. The food was good and very hot, better than on more expensive ferries we have travelled on. The ferry is small so there is not a lot to look at or places to walk, although there are quite a few televisions around. The seats are not too comfy when you are sitting there for five hours. Coming back from France the signposting on the port was not very clear, you had to use the Brittany terminal. Overall it was a good experience.
"Easy and quick crossing"
It's a while since I've been on a ferry, and this was the first time with a car and a family. After a shaky start (the layout of the queues at Portsmouth was confusing), we got safely onto the ferry and made our way on deck. There was a relatively small passenger deck, but the food was really tasty and, whilst expensive, not stupidly so, and given that this was a quick crossing, the smalls didn't tire of experience and we emerged safely on the French coast with smiles on our faces.
"Deserves more than three stars"
If your life is all rush, take the fast ferry. For a real ship and a pleasant (winter) crossing, take the Commodore Clipper, (which runs in all weather) and book the Club lounge by day and the Deluxe cabin by night. Our cabin was airy and beautifully presented, even a fruit bowl. My only regret is that the food in the dining room could be better, especially since the crossing allows time for a better dining experience! The ship is clean, stable in all weathers and crewed by well trained and courteous staff.
"Pleasure trip"
had a good journey both ways we like this travel route as it.s not all rushing around. Staff are great very polite and always helpful Despite the high costing on drink the food was good, the cleanliness of the boat is a credit to crew they work hard I will always use this route when ever possible as it suits my need to get the place I go in UK if there was ever a fast ferry to Portsmouth it might be then my first choice of ferry travel than the clipper
"Travel Commodore Clipper"
We had lovely a trip to and from our destination. Our booking was done on line without any problems would use direct ferries again and would also recommend them.
"clipper comfort"
Very pleased with all aspects of our trip with ommodore Clipper A very clean ship with good food and friendly crew.
"day trip to jersey"
arrived at checkin 07.00 boarded ship 08.30 sailed at 09.10 good clean ship. attentive staff. arrived jersey 19.30 lovely calm crossing. very efficient, very pleasant. the return trip sevsn days latter equally as good.
"Poole to Guernsey fat cat."
Easy process of getting to the ferry port and driving onto the cat, it was a tight fit, so get used to squeezing your car into a small spot, it's the same when getting off with lots of reversing and gear changes. The ferry was nice and quick and the three hours flew by, service was good and the staff friendly. Didn't really try the food out, but it looked cheep and cheerful and good enough if you were hungry.
"A great way to Travel to the Channel Islands"
This was our first trip by sea to the Channel Islands and after reading several reviews, it was clear that Condor operated a great service. We stayed in Portsmouth the night before our crossing and had a ten minute drive to the ferry port. We could take as much luggage as we wanted to. I decided to book the Club Class lounge which was superb, free tea, coffee and soft drinks along with complimentary cakes/biscuits was an extra surprise as we did not expect this. The seats were extremely comfortable with panoramic sea views. The ship was not very busy and there were only 7 people in the Club lounge. Everyone passengers and crew alike were very friendly. We returned on the overnight ferry and had a superior deluxe cabin. This was definitely worth every penny. My partner was able to watch the late world cup game on the in cabin TV. Beds were very comfortable. This was the most relaxing way to start and end a holiday without the hassle of waiting around at airports and sitting on a squashed aircraft with limited luggage. Already planning next years trip to the Channel islands and highly recommend anyone who wants a relaxing holiday from start to finish.
"Adventure in the Clipper Condoferries "
I had a wonderful time enjoying good services good food at reasonable cost.on return back to Portsmouth I really loved the rest in the cabin. I went to St Malo during my stay in jersey the day trip was great in the Rapido Condoferries. All in all superb services
"Adventure in the Clipper Condor ferries "
I had a wonderful time enjoying good services good food at reasonable cost. On return back to Portsmouth I really loved the rest in the cabin. I went to St Malo during my stay in jersey the day trip was great in the Rapido Condoferries. All in all superb services.
"Ferry from France to England and return"
Good crossing. Comfortable seating and everywhere clean and tidy. Will consider using this crossing with Condor Ferries again.
"Savonna to Bastia, Ile Rousse to Nice."
Impressed with service and helpfulness of crew. Loading and unloading of our motorcycles a little chaotic but harmless. Excellent quality food for the fixed price breakfast and dinner and good clean cabin.
"Part of the holiday"
Smooth crossings both ways; recliner seats on the outward journey and a beautifully comfortable cabin on the return; excellent food - all made our crossings to and from Guernsey a really relaxing and enjoyable part of the holiday. Sailings were exactly on schedule. At every stage we met efficiency and courtesy. We go to Sark most years, and this is the way we like to go.
"Sleeping arrangements"
I cannot fault direct ferries for their service,I write this review simply to urge passengers who wish/need to arrive in Portsmouth ready to face a long drive on the motorways not to rely on the use of the reclining seats for a good nights rest. Although they are reasonably comfortable for an hour or two, they do not recline sufficiently to support the body for sleep.
"Slow boat to Cherbourg."
Our view is that the Ship is fine. Our criticism is that it takes FAR TOO LONG to travel the relative short distance between the Ports. Can it not be speeded up,we were crossing far quicker when we used Hovercraft. In this `modern`day and age,I think it pretty poor that it can take FIVE HOURS to cross! TOO SLOW! After disembarkation, I then have a 5 to 6 hour car journey. The shop is pretty poor, can`t buy Smokes or Booze or much else!(why)
"Directferries"
Just been Portsmouth /Cherbourg with Condor Ferries, excellent service with great food and very polite and helpful staff.
"Portsmouth to Jersey"
Excellent crossing. Clean comfortable cabin. Lovely breakfast included on way back. Ensuite. Couldn't have asked for more way to travel !!
"Ferry to Guernsey"
Easy to board and park up, comfortable journey with good restaurant facilities good overnight cabin on return journey. Would recommend.
"RECLINING SEAT LOUNGE TO MYSELF"
Perfect bliss! Easy boarding. No half term, no school holidays. No holidaymakers Immediate service by crew. Sunny. Free choice of television programmes, without upsetting other passengers. No drunks, calm crossing. Perfect panorama view of bows and route, whilst reading independent newspaper from first to large page in total peace. Lovely Mackerel salad, and crew responded to my badly spoken polish! Thank you.
"Very satisfied and comfortable cabin"
A very comfortable and pleasant crossing. Efficient loading and unloading.
"Portsmouth - Guernsey Clipper"
As usual everything was excellent and all arrangements made the trip a pleasant experience. A small suggestion, I travelled in the quiet lounge which - given the lovely weather - became a greenhouse - air conditioning would have been good but next time I will book club class as a friend said that was cooler.
"Travelling with Condor Ferry from Portsmouth to Jersey"
A poor sea traveller I was really pleased with with both the facilities and staff on board the ferry. Accommodation, restrooms and eating/sitting areas where all exceptionally clean. Staff gave 100% plus service being both courteous and attentive. For example tables were kept clean, food selection was good and the steak meal my sister and I had was really nice. I have already shared my positive experience with family and friends and if you need any further testimony I am looking to travel with Condor in the not too distant future.
"Portsmouth to Guernsey /Guernsey to Portsmouth."
I sailed from Portsmouth to Guernsey on the Commodore Clipper, in November, check in was slow but steady, parking on the clipper was easy the staff guiding you all the way. the catering on board was good but expensive. the staff were polite and helpful. The duty free had some very good offers on spirits and wines. Strongly suggest you have a cabin on the overnight ferry. My cabin was very clean and comfortable. I will not hesitate to book with them again.
"Visiting Jersey by Condor Ferries"
We travelled by Commodore Clipper from Portsmouth Ferry Terminal to St Helier and found the check procedure simple and friendly. Staff very helpful with baggage transfer and being foot passengers, we were transferred to the ship by minibus. Staff on board were helpful and smiling and offered help to find our seats. Ship clean and catering was acceptable but not "haut-cuisine" Altogether a pleasant 10 hour cruise.
"September Travel"
The crossing was very well organised in both directions. The crew dealt very efficiently with the motorbike. The single seat accommodation was rather limited as far as accommodating motorcycle clothing that was not needed while on board, but in practice, there were plenty of empty seats so this was not a problem. While travelling, the crew were helpful and were able to answer any questions I had about arrangements, timing etc.
"Night ferry Guernsey - Portsmouth"
We have indeed taken the ferry from Guernsey to Portsmouth. Firstly, there is no mention that the journey is via Jersey and moors there for a couple of hours. Secondly, there were no cabins available on the night ferry, so you are given a reclining chair, but it was extremely cold. And then it truns out that there's a plastic bag with blankets in some corner! Nobody knows this and nobody tells you either. Altogether not such a great experience on this ship.
"Jersey to Portsmouth - Nice journey, shame about the food"
I did the overnight from Jersey to Portsmouth. Loading was really easy and the cabin was perfectly fine. Staff were friendly but the food on offer was very poor quality in my view.
"Slow boat to Jersey!"
I would recommend paying the extra for club class lounge facilities - we didn't, but wished we had! There is very little to do on this long crossing apart form eat, drink and look at the sea so take plenty of entertainment with you! Most of the staff spoke very poor English so communication was difficult. The return trip was far more pleasant as we slept the whole journey in a very nice cabin. The ship was clean and comfortable.
"Good trip"
Nice ship, clean, Good for the price paid.
"That Condor moment"
Fast, efficient ferry. Only problem was lots of families with small children who took over the restaurant meaning that there was nowhere for me to eat my (excellent) meal in peace and most importantly, comfort.
"A problem free crossing"
A bit late due to the traffic in Portsmouth. A confortable, problem-free crossing. A pleasant staff (port, restaurant, lounges)
"Trip from Portsmouth to Cherbourg"
The trip did not start very well. We found it difficult to find the correct entrance for the Condor ferry. First it only said 'Brittany Ferries' no sign for 'Condor'. Then we went off a roundabout only to discover we had gone through the entrance for lorries. Why does it have to be so hard to find the right embarkation point? Ever heard of road signs? The trip itself was fine. Departed and arrived on time. Catering was limited and over priced but you are free to bring your own food and drinks. There was TV for the kids which is a life saver on a long trip like this one. On the way back there was no TV but my 10 year-old took part in a drawing competition and won a prize so he came off the ship smiling.
"Best ferry trip ever"
Portsmouth to Cherbourg was a wonderful ferry crossing. We book a deluxe suite and was not disappointed....will not hesitate to use directferries.com again.
"Condor Clipper"
Everything was fine we would use this sailing again. Much better than the overcrowded fast ferries.
"assessment "
Check in, baggage etc. was ok Unfortunately the dormitory was freezing. the deck chairs, and the only towel large, thin fleece blankets warmed little. a head pillow would have been very welcome! Ship, sanitaries and resstaurant was ok
"Crossing to jersey"
Excellent enjoyed the trip.
"Disbled Coffee"
I had booked a disabled cabin for the overnight crossing for my elderly father's convenience. I was not told at the time of booking either that the ensuite toilet facility would be shared with the other adjacent cabin, nor that it did not feature a shower like the regular cabins. We may or may not still have booked it, but we ought certainly to have had clearer information about the options. It was a disconcerting surprise. In the main restaurant only a single coffee machine was working and this caused enormous delays at breakfast from 5.30am onwards, meaning that it could scarcely be completed before it was time to descend to the vehicle decks. The staff were extremely helpful and the ship itself was kept clean and arrived punctually.
"Smooth operation "
It was a very quiet crossing. Everything worked out. Ticket purchases on the internet, no problems at check-in. Very rapid execution. The ship was not full, so plenty of space on the ferry. We had Club Class for ourselves. Would return travel with Condor Ferries.
"Assessment"
The disembarkment of pedestrian in St Malo took too much time.
"Conventional Ferry travel between Guernsey /Portsmouth"
I travelled as a foot passenger and was completely satisfied with every aspect of the experience. As I have mobility difficulty, particularly on stairs, I was impressed with the care offered and the pleasant service on the mini-bus. Whether with our car or as foot passengers I would always recommend this ferry.
"Great trip over"
A very pleasent trip. Boarding and disembarking easy and hassle free. Pleasant crew.
"ships from Portsmouth"
Excellent service, but why no fast ships from Portsmouth? And foreign staff could be a bit more helpful - maybe just language barrier. I asked whether there was any french dressing at the counter - blank look and pointed at the sachets. There was none. The French do use condor ships I imagine.
"Unintelligible and unprofessional"
Our experience led us to believe that the company had never seen a foot passenger before as the 'service' was unprofessional, chaotic and unhelpful. The staff on board generally do not have English as a first language and service is terse and fragmented, with announcements not necessarily making sense. Don't bother paying the extra for a 'deluxe' cabin - particularly if you have previously done so with P&O as the standard is extremely poor - matching the on-board food! Next time I will definitely fly!
"Best way to travel"
Could not think of a better way to travel than this lovely boat and staff.
"Condor Ferries review"
Very good service, will happily book again for this route.
"...I would happily recommend them..."
Having travelled on ferries in many countries, Condor Ferries ship was clean and well-ordered. (The toilets - always a good indication of a quality operation - were clean, and smelled clean!) The transfer service from the terminal to the ship (and vice-versa) was efficient and friendly. On the occasion that we took a cabin, it was clean and more than adequate for our journey....a good way to travel! The catering was acceptable and, considering there were only a handful of passengers on the winter crossing, I'm amazed the company put on any catering at all! Even the duty-free shop was opened - albeit for only a short period of time - and there were some good prices to had on wines, for example. The crew were friendly, courteous and efficient and the captain kept us well informed of weather ahead, expected time of arrival, etc. Having travelled with them on a number of occasions, now, I would happily recommend them to others.
"first time used"
Travelled to Guernsey outward from Portsmouth return to Poole. both vessels clean staff excellent as was the food served. Duty free had a good selection. Will certainly use either route again.
