The Amsterdam ferry port is situated in IJmuiden which is around 18 miles and approximately 30 minutes away from the city centre. The city is well connected with the Amsterdam ferry port terminal, with a range of public transport options. There are regular shuttle buses from opposite Amsterdam Central Station which coincide with ferry departure times of the ferry to Amsterdam. The nearest station to the port is Haarlem Central and from there you can take a short taxi or catch the 75 bus to Plein 1945 station and then the 74 to the Amsterdam ferry port. The terminal is also conveniently linked to the well-designed Dutch motorway system. Take the A9 from Amsterdam, Den Haag, Haarlem or Alkmaar and then follow the signs leading to IJmuiden. Then turn right onto Pontplein and carry on driving with the channel to your right. Make your way under the viaduct and turn right at the roundabout, then follow Halkade until you reach the terminal.
There is free public parking available at the front of the Amsterdam ferry port if you do choose to arrive by car. In the Amsterdam ferry port itself you’ll find all you need before your departure, including a café area and toilet facilities. Nearby to the terminal there are also plenty of restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops and even the local maritime museum if you are looking to pass the time before your ferry to Amsterdam departure.
